They had a great selection of hiking sandals from budget friendly to budget busting. My husband walked all around the store trying on various sandals. I have bought multiple pairs of shoes from Peltz Shoes in Sarasota when I visit there annually from Chicago. This year 1 pair of sandals(3 pairs in total) didn't actually fit properly when I arrived home. I had the originall receipt and was within their 30 day return policy and shoes were never worn with stickers still on the sole. . They refused to accept a return because I didn't have the ORIGINAL BOX! Returning on an airplane with shoes in the original boxes is not realistic expecially when I wasn't planning to return them. I was greeted the moment I came in. I had brought with me a bag with a possible return/exchange of boots I had bought the night before at my local Peltz store. The male manager at this location was extremely nice and helpful. Having driven over an hour to pick up a pair of boots that only this location had in my size, this manager came over to me to make sure I was okay and to see if he could further assist. At the time, I was not aware he was the manager. He offered to take my return and the saved boots to the counter, while I looked at around at the other boots in stock. I browsed around this location is large and had a lot more choices than my local store, but still a limited number of sizes in the same style. That seems to be my issue with these stores. What they have is nice, but so little in the common 8.5 size. When I decided to purchase the new boots, after all I did drive up here to get them, and return the ones from last night, that's how I found out he was the manager. The manager has to approve the transaction. They were great in exchanging it and honoring my $10 coupon. Overall, a great experience, just wish I could have done all this at my store. read more

My family has been a regular shopper at Peltz , but this recent shopping experience has ended with us vowing not to ever shop there again. At least at the Clearwater FL store. We love the selection of shoes that Peltz has to offer, but their customer service is a ZERO. Not even one-star. We bought 3 pair of shoes this past week (about $275 worth). 2 men's and 1 women's. My wife tried them on at home - literally walked from the kitchen to bedroom then to the living - they didn't fit. My wife went to return them, and the Peltz associate would not take them back nor give store credit. The associate said there was a scuff on the sole. Which was absolutely not the case at all. Not a mark on the sole anywhere. Just wanted to share our experience. Buyer beware - make 100% sure they fit before you walk out the door of this Peltz shoes. Unbelievable. read more

While looking for New Balance shoes online, I was surprised to find them here. It's been 20 years since I was in a Peltz store, and boy has it changed! Not only do they have a great selection of EVERY shoe I was looking at online, but the staff was awesome. No high pressure to sell me what I didn't want, and they had the shoes in every size and width. Rich was a great help and he found me another pair they didn't have in a different color in my size. The shoes there are dirty and look like they have been used before. The whole store is extremely and unorganized and dirty. Four months ago I purchased a pair of New Balance shoes from the Clearwater store where I've shopped for shoes for years and have always been very satisfied with Peltz's customer service. I didn't wear them till several months later, after my current pair were pretty worn. After a month, the right shoe developed a prominent and loud squeak. I called the store and talked to one of their floor managers. He replied that after 30 days, he couldn't help. I wasn't satisfied and knew I couldn't continue to wear the squeaky shoes so I decided to go to the store. I met another manager and she was totally customer focused. She said, "It sounds like the shoe is defective. We'll replace them at no charge." All I wanted was the same pair of New Balance in my size without the squeak. She introduced me to a sales rep who helped me find the the exact replacement. What a pleasurable transaction. I appreciate the manager hearing my dissatisfaction and taking decisive action. That reinforced the great feelings I have experienced everytime I've shopped Peltz over the years. I don't buy shoes anywhere else. Some reviewers look at sales people with disdain, I on the other hand appreciate their assistance helping me find the shoe which will fit the best and one which fits my budget. It's hard to find good customer service, especially at department stores. So I only shop at Peltz. Additionally, I've been looking for hiking shoes since I'm hiking with my son and others from time to time. My sales rep suggested a shoe I was unfamiliar with by Merrell, which I now realize is one of the top brands for hikers. Very well made. They fit well and I now have new hiking shoes which will allow me to wear my New Balance for other less rugged occasions. read more

I went in and found shoes that I liked, but they did not have my size onsite. The salesman said they had them available to deliver to my home. The girl at the front desk rang up my shoes, so they must have showed up as "in inventory" somewhere. I can't believe they would take an order for shoes they did not have available - that is deceitful. I received an email stating that one of my pairs was cancelled. No explanation - just "order cancelled". So I had to call them to see wth was going on. Was told by the girl that they did not have the shoe available. WTF? It was available when they took my money and rang up the order... now suddenly I don't get the shoe? No mention of credit or refund - just an email 'cancelled order'. If a company today cannot keep an accurate inventory management system, they should not be offering to sell you shoes that are not onsite, and should not be taking money for shoes they do not have in inventory. How you can sell me shoes, then 24 hours later says "whoops, we don't have them" is lousy, lousy customer service. Shame on you! People, do not patronize this store if this is the kind of games they play with you. read more

Not Happy!! Last year I broke my ankle in two places and my doctor recommended Vionic sneakers for a better supporting shoe. I found Peltz Shoes is one of two places in my area that sells these shoes. I chose your store because of the price. I found a pair at the store but they only had a 9 wide and I needed a medium. The salesperson found that there were two in the warehouse. I was told to pay for them and they would mail them to my home. Wonderful! I received them, tried them on, and wasn't happy with them. I tried wearing them for a couple of days but there was no improvement. I brought them back within the 30 days requirement but was told because I wore them they could not return them. The shoes are in excellent condition! Since I did not have an opportunity to try them at the store, I had to try them at home and do not like them. I'll be happy to send you pictures of the conditions of the shoes upon your request. This is very unfair and the manager at your Clearwater store was not hearing anything that I had to say. She would not take them back no matter what I had to say. These are expensive shoes and I was willing to purchase another pair but there was no budging this manager. I like Pelz Shoes and the rewards program, it's nice to actually be able to try shoes on, instead of ordering online. The staff is somewhat helpful. Gone are the days of the Old Fashion Shoe Stores where they actually put the shoes on your feet and measure them. But if you ask, they will measure for you. I asked for a suggestion on a particular balance issue for my husband, and was offered only one suggestion. I didn't like the fact I could not get the color I wanted on a $154.00 shoe, and was told it could not be ordered. The Cash Registers crash almost every time I go there. It is a pain to have to wait to pay for my shoes. This should be fixable! read more

Bought my third pair of Merrill slip on's at Peltz's in Clearwater. I wore them once and it gave me blisters within the first thousand feet I took them back and Peltz's response was no returns once you've worn them. As I mentioned I had two other pair no problems these are a defective pair of Merrill shoes they cost good money and they refused to return them because I wore them to find that out this pair is defective. We won't be doing any more business with Peltz's, as our expectations of going to a store where the merchandise is very pricey that we would get better service and realize that we're not trying to scam the system kind of insulting. read more

I called the store and the woman said they do accept coupons. I do not live near the store but I went back the next day with the $10 coupon and they reimbursed me. Manager not so much I spent a little over $200.00 on women two pairs were Clarks and one pair of mans Sperry shoes with socks & asked him to cut a little off the bill. He refused saying he could not that he's not the owner plus he told me I was getting $10 off one pair of Clarks. He would do me a favor and give me both with $10 each pair. Well duh Peltz was offering that to begin with. If he had any customer service and cut a few dollars off my bill or a coupon to shop next time and not give bull to me, he would have had a happy customer. I was coming home from work - where i was just on my feet for 9 hours - i had to pick up a birthday gift from gamestop - i was leaving to go home and said my feet hurt - then i saw pelts - i need to get a better pair of shoes quick - I mirade of sandles and shoes - but i knew i had a purpose and reason to be there - i explained my situation to an employee (i wish i took notice of his name) but he showed me my options - talked about prices - quality - experience - and feet - even though my feet were tired and swollen i was directed to the perfect fit! Normally, I don't find what I want or need at this store, but after a November orthopedist visit for my husband, the dr. suggested we get him a new pair of shoes, as shuffling was causing his sneakers to delaminate. The dr. suggested a pair of shoes with a solid sole. As he uses a brace, we needed a pair with a large opening on top to ease the brace inside. I should have written this sooner, so I could remember the sales associates who helped us, but all were very patient. They brought shoes to my seated husband, and assisted him in putting them on. My husband also suffers from dry skin, which meant he was "snowing" on these new shoes and the rug. No one commented or complained.... Very gracious service, indeed. We were there at least 45 minutes before selecting two pairs. We felt very well cared for. A+ for our customer experience! read more

Had to call because the website could not locate my order. Have called to inquire 5x to date. Was advised 3 of the 5 times some one would call me back. Only received one call back and was advised once the missing shoes were located they would be mailed to me. A good customer service approach would be to mail me the shoes paid for while locating the missing pair. This has been a headache for me and that is not what shoe buying should be. read more

Wow, it's a total wonder how this place can stay in business. Their shoes are ridiculously over priced. When I walked in the door the sales person was on me within 10 seconds and never left my side. I was particularly looking for a pair of real leather closed toe, red flats. Picky I know, but I was certain they would have something that would work with all of their racks of shoes. The sales person took me to the only 2 pairs of red flats to choose from. Fake leather too. Out of that entire store only 2, and they aren't even authentic?? I ended up buying a real pair of leather red flat shoes online for only 2/3 of the cost. They are a total rip off! read more

Mixed...great inventory...prices shaky...sis got a few handbags but I had to return them as they started to fray prematurely! They do have a great inventory, and like all stores, will have great sale & clearance prices. It might be unfair but I know more about their running shoes than they do! I dare them to test me! So far, and it may be too soon to tell, the ASICS purchased are like walking on a cloud I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis yesterday (second foot, distance of time between the other), and I needed the BEST possible shoe I could find. I do a ton of walking as a retiree. I love them so far. Along with stretching exercises (and a very painful cortisone shot), I feel certain I will be fine!
