BEWARE: Roxanne appears to lack sufficient knowledge of real estate and property management laws. For examples, she added fees without conducting proper due diligence, and only removed them after we presented the applicable laws that prohibited such charges. I am also aware of elderly neighbors who experienced similar issues. They went to her office to address their concerns and were met with what they described as a hostile and unprofessional response. Overall, her conduct has been unprofessional and concerning. A formal complaint regarding her real estate license has been submitted. I am giving a two-star rating only because her staff does provide responses, though they often seem delayed and unhelpful. read more

As a San Diego renter for the past 6 years, I have NEVER had to deal with such an unprofessional, irresponsible, and terrible company as Pemberley Realty. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. After leaving this house it was easy to see that the house I rented from Pemberley was a quick turnover. It looked new on the outside but was done quickly and cheaply. They do not care about their tenants and are a realty company trying to pass as a property management company. The girls in the office have zero property management experience and are office assistants trying to pass as such. This became very clear over the 9 short months and many incidents we had dealing with them. The first major incident was a gas leak from the internal pipe from the fireplace on the property. We called Pemberley Realty to report the potentially deadly gas leak (during normal business hours) and could not get in contact with a single person for HOURS. We had to call SDG&E ourselves to get the gas turned off and the entire process took 11 days to get fixed. Pemberley refused to reimburse us for the days without gas on the property (ie no hot water, no stove, no laundry) for 11 days. Their excuse was that they installed a temporary hot water heater on the 6th day and that that solved the problem. Furthermore, they threatened to make us pay for the repair because it "could have been caused by the tenants". It was in our contract not to use the fireplace and the plumbing company luckily, was able to convince them the broken pipe INSIDE THE WALL was not caused by us. Sadly, this is just one of the many incidents we had with this terrible company in which they are impossible to get a hold of, unprofessional, and try to blame everything on the tenant. However, in lieu of a novel with the rest, I will finish up with: Roxanne and "her team" do not care about you, your safety, time, and are only out to get your money. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THESE PEOPLE. read more

The team is quite talented, good communicators and professional behavior which is much appreciated. Do not trust Pemberley Realty. I lived in one of her rental properties for a little over a year and had the worst, horrible experience. She is rude, money grubbing, and will try to make you pay for all of the fix up projects on her run down properties knowing full well you did not cause it. That's how she tries to make her money. She will also make up fees that you would have to pay for (an actual example, "my gardener had to pick up your dog poop and you should be happy I didn't charge you for that"-- not mentioning that her other tenants' 3 dogs were always left out in the yard & there was a possibility it could be the other dogs- no one knew, but I can tell you I always clean up after my dog). She will favor the renters who pay more and actually threaten to kick you out if you don't comply with their requests. She always threatened to kick me out if I ever offended the downstairs neighbor, BUT, once she learned that I was in the process of buying a home, she tried to be super nice and persuade me to let her sell me a home by offering a measley 1,000 bonus back if I did. She even said she'd make up a lie to the neighbor for not "getting on me." (Side note, my neighbor was a grouchy older woman who didn't like my dog initially). Even when I moved out, Roxanne tried to charge me that much in repairs, claiming that had I let her sell me a home, I would have gotten $500 back (she, of course changed the amount to a lower amount than she initially offered again), to pay for my repairs. When it was time to do a walk through, she tried to bring ammunition to use so that she didn't have to refund my deposit, later saying that I was a day late paying the rent (the check was sent on the 2nd, instead of the first) when I had proof that it took her an average of two weeks to cash the check. I even paid her the $25 "fee" she said she would be charged, even though she didn't even cash the check until two weeks later. In fact, she found "wear and tear" scratches on her beat up old hard wood floors of the rental property, and told me I had to pay for the entire wood floors, of which she never produced a receipt and to this day, has not repaired the floors, nearly a year later. I know she didn't refurbish them b/c she moved another tenant in the same day I moved out. When I moved in, she kept the deposit of the renter before me for the cleaning and promised to pay a house keeper to clean when I moved out since I moved into a dirty apartment. When I did move out, she tried to charge me for the house keeper and after a long discussion to remind her of her promise, Roxanne tried to say that I had to pay for the cleaner working more than 6 hours. To be fair, Roxanne is nice when you meet her. I thought I would like her and wanted to like her. She is a very pretty woman, and I thought she would be hard working and understanding. But my advice is to find another realtor or rental property owner. Work with someone who has integrity, ethics, and good customer service. She really will nickle and dime you and is only nice upfront until the exchange of money comes in, then she will find reasons and fees that you will have to pay for. The only reason I didn't go to the courts is b/c I was in the process of moving, buying a home, changing jobs that I didn't have time to pursue this. I have been told by many realtors, even a judge that she did quite a few illegal exchanges. At this point though, piece of mind comes from not dealing with her at all. She really is unethical and a gouger. For this reason, I have decided not to even eat at her restaurant in University Heights. Moving to a new city, I've relied on Yelp a LOT. Which made me quite worried when the realtor we had started working with to buy our first home - Roxanne - had only one horrible review! Ack! I thought, run for the hills! I won't hold it against Yelp that for the biggest purchase of my life, I was almost led astray. But now I am back on here to offer a homebuyer's opinion - Roxanne was everything we could have hoped for and much more! My parents walked into her office, set up our first meeting and so I reluctantly went along (having done my Yelp homework). She seemed friendly enough... The she was offered to pick up my sister and infant daughter to drive us around (my husband had our only car at work). OK, that sounds excessively nice but maybe she got difficult later on? Nope. She was amazing the whole time. We looked at a kajillion homes, she was patient and willing to see each one, even suggesting a solution to our "couldn't-afford-in-the-neighborhood-we-wanted-to-live-in" dilemma by suggesting we consider multifamily properties and then rent a suite to pay our mortgage. It worked beautifully and as a single-income small family we were able to buy our first home in University Heights! When we went into the loan pre-approval and application process, she held our hands the entire way, even hooking us up with a great mortgage broker. When we put in an offer, she advised us without being pushy, but then did let her negotiation skills come out to help us get the lowest possible price at closing! In the three years since we bought our home more reviews have popped up on Yelp from folks who obviously had the same experience with Roxanne we did: professional, kind, and totally committed. She went the extra mile over, and over again and I can't wait to use her as a property manager and to sell our home when it comes time to move on. read more

We cannot say enough good things regarding the recent selling of our 1927 University Heights home. We initially used another realtor and the house did not sell for four months. We were interested in renting a place from her and to give her credit she does get right back to you. However, I never met the woman, only spoke to her on the phone and met with her assistant (he was actually really nice, but didn't know anything about the property). She was so rude on the phone and is not flexible on anything. She insulted me, with out even meeting me and I had to be the professional and tell her that I thought it would be best if we "parted ways". They were quick to respond and very helpful in the move in process. I had just flown in from NYC and was looking non-stop and had the best experience with them by far. They were good and communicating with me and helpful in getting things taken care of. She was also very patient with me, when I had to move back to New York to take care of family problems. She helped me find someone to help with the rest of the lease and was extremely understanding. I would recommend Roxanne and Pemberley Realty. I didn't find her rude ever, or unhelpful. I read the Yelp reviews of Pemberley Realty and Roxanne, but I figured the negative comments were mostly disgruntled tenants/prospective tenants. Well, let me tell you about my experience that occurred over this past weekend. For the record, I have not met Roxanne. However, I seriously doubt her and Pemberley Realty's professionalism. And, this is why. Roxanne (or someone from Pemberley Realty) put up a Craigslist ad stating that a property will have an open house for 2 different days last week (Weds/Sat). When Saturday comes around----before the open house even occurs----the property has been rented. My opinion---hey that's great for the landlord and the new tenant. Good for them! However, neither Roxanne nor anyone else at Pemberley Realty bothered to take the Craigslist ad for the Saturday open house down. Furthermore, when several people show up for the open house, some dude sitting on the front porch tells people "sorry, the house has been rented...sorry, but I didn't have time to take the ad down this morning". Now that's a lame a$$ excuse, for sure. But, maybe, just maybe I'd give that guy, Roxanne and Pemberley Realty another free pass. EXCEPT, the dude representing Roxanne and Pemberley Realty that said he was too busy and/or didn't have time to take down the ad...was sitting on the front porch of the rental...and said all of this with a straight face...while sitting 10 feet from the very obvious "FOR RENT OPEN HOUSE" sign in the driveway! I GUESS he didn't have time to take that down either... I was one of 3 other people that showed up at the property at the same time to look at it...I'm sure I wasn't the only one that showed up during the Saturday "open house" either. So, Roxanne, Pemberley Realty, some dude not only wasted my time, but others as well. Which, to me, is a total disrespect of someone. Because we can make all the money we want (hopefully), but we cannot make any more time. My time, especially weekend time, is precious and they wasted my time. Oh and guess what...I was still looking for rentals today...and IT'S TUESDAY AND THAT STUPID AD IS STILL UP. So, while I've not met Roxanne or had any interactions with her, based upon the couple of reviews on here and my own experience with her unprofessionalism, I'd say don't bother with her or that company. read more

MY FAMILY AND I HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH Pemberley Realty and IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME I HAVE THE PHONE RECORDING. We viewed a home at 7427 Sean Taylor Lane in Mira Mesa and we should have known something was up with these people when we discovered the young lady Bridget had zero information about the home owner or the rental requirements. Confident that we shouldn't have an issues we continued with the application process, which include paying $120 for credit checks and we did not receive any form of receipt. After a few days Mariam contacted us by phone informing us of some shocking and incorrect information under our name. We attempted to obtain additional information from Brenda and Mariam, however, we was told, "the owner don't want any explanations" Mariam then told us to provide proof of the incorrect statements and WE DID. THEN they began questioning us about matters that were personal. Most likely they thought we were liars and was shocked that we was telling the truth. On 10/16/2015 we called the office to get a better understanding of what the hang up was now, and was disrespected to the fullest by the office staff. Both Mariam and Brenda yelled at us over the phone and told us, "any correspondence must be made through email" and hung up. This property management company is awful with poor attitudes and zero respect to our wounded warrior veterans and the people who care for them. I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS COMPANY!
