After the nurse took my vitals and examined my arm we were sent to the waiting room to wait 30 minutes more and never got the shot. After reminding the receptionist we were waiting we were seated in the examination room waiting for an additional 1 hour without being seen by a doctor. My wife asked a nurse about the doctor and slow service the nurse told her " if you don't like the service here you can leave " in an insulting manner . We left and got my tetanus shot at a grocery store pharmacy without having to wait. Other patients with young children with fevers , etc also spent a long time to be seen. For annual check-ups, you see the nurse practitioner, who is efficient and seems fine (wasn't told in advance, or I probably would have rescheduled with another OB-GYN though). Dr Alawode's time is dedicated to his obstetrics practice. On the upside, time in the waiting room is usually less than 15 minutes, and his office staff is fairly efficient, although I often have to call back multiple times for a prescription refill or questions to be answered) Again, I have heard that Dr. Alawode's attentive and very personable, but not sure that the minor issues with the office staff and exclusively seeing the nurse practitioner are enough to justify going.

Understandably, such an exceptional doctor is in high demand. Unfortunately, a wait time of 30 minutes or more beyond a scheduled appointment is the norm. This complicates service. I will continue to see Dr. Herry as I am retired and generally able to schedule 30 minute appointments that I understand will take 2 hours. I suggest scheduling appointment times appropriately and change the existing system. This has been going on for years. Given the age of many of the patients, it appears that it is fine with them to wait around for hours. In the future I may no longer be able to do so and required to find a physician with a support staff that respects the time of clients. Do some math. Figure out the average time spent with a patient and the average arrival time of patients. Use this to create a realistic schedule.

This was such a bad experience. It seemed like there were some unnecessary office visits (each…read morerelated to an office visit charge with a copay) and I did not understand why I was charged for office visits just to have blood drawn (especially when I had to pass two Labcorp centers to get there) or for quick conversations that could have occurred over the phone. There were also some issues with listening to me, as the patient. If I tell you, as a new patient, that I have had certain procedures, I do not expect to be challenged and told that it is not possible because they wouldn't do it. There are always exceptions to the textbooks. So I had to provide the surgical report before he would concede that I was correct. As such, my initial diagnosis was not even feasible due to a past surgery that I initially noted I had. Also, twice, I was prescribed meds that I specifically noted I could not take. Finally, after an unsuccessful surgery, I had to go to another gynecologist to get the initial issue addressed and resolved. While I am sure he is a nice person, this was not the gynecologist for me, due to the experiences noted.
