I would not recommend Penacook Place Apartments. My experience has been extremely frustrating due to poor management. When you move in, you're required to sign a lease filled with rules, policies, and regulations that tenants are expected to follow. However, the office managers don't seem willing to enforce those same lease terms when other tenants violate them. Instead of addressing complaints, investigating issues, or holding tenants accountable according to the lease, the office's response is simply to tell residents to call the police. It feels like management avoids dealing with problems that are clearly their responsibility under the lease agreement. A lease should apply equally to everyone, and management should enforce it consistently. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. If you're looking for a property where management is responsive and willing to uphold the community rules they've asked everyone to sign, I would look elsewhere. read more

I would strongly advise anyone considering Penacook Place to think twice before signing a lease here. Our experience has been extremely disappointing due to management's refusal to enforce the terms of its own lease. We have repeatedly reported our upstairs neighbors for continuously smoking marijuana inside the building, despite the lease clearly prohibiting illegal substances on the property. We have also reported ongoing disturbances that have negatively affected our family's quality of life. Instead of addressing these violations, management has repeatedly dismissed our concerns and essentially told us there is nothing they are willing to do. It is incredibly frustrating to pay rent every month only to have lease violations ignored while management expects tenants to continue following every rule themselves. To make matters worse, the individuals causing these issues also work in the leasing office part-time, which creates the appearance of favoritism and raises serious concerns about whether all tenants are being held to the same standards. A lease is a two-way agreement. Tenants are expected to follow the rules, and management should be expected to enforce them fairly and consistently. In our experience, Penacook Place has failed to uphold its own lease terms and has shown little interest in resolving legitimate complaints. If you value responsive management, equal enforcement of lease agreements, and a peaceful living environment, I cannot recommend living here. read more

Peacock Place is awesome, if you enjoy walking through the hallways smelling stale cigarettes, and marijuana. As you walk down the hallways youll find the ceiling tiles are brown from when a leak in the shotty plumbing occures about 2 times a year. This leak causes a massive flood in the hallway and will leak into your apartment. Don't worry maintenance won't come by to survey if the walls in your apartment are wet. Now, you and I both know they file an insurnace claim but choose not to fix the tiles, rather just spray paint over them. You will see that the carpeting in the hallways and entry ways smells, and is stained and has noticeable dirt on them. Yes they do have a cleaning crew that does a half ass job that comes through each building twice a week. Then just wait, once you enter your "home" you may very well walk in to find a kitchen full of ants and cock roaches! Under the sink you'll find large holes in the wall, and black mold. Then you'll stroll over toward the bathroom to and find a decent outdated bathroom vanity and a exhaust fan that doesn't function properly. There's also a chance you will find black mold on the ceiling that was painted over. If you're not looking for things like this you may not notice them. You'll walk into the "master bedroom" and find a double sliding closet with doors that aren't secured to the tracks. You'll move on toward the window and notice the black mold surrounding the window. You'll then stroll into the 2nd bedroom and will probably find the same. Sounds awesome, right?! But wait, there's more! You'll notify management of your findings, they will notify you that they have your request, but won't really do much about it. You may choose to check out the laundry-room located on the first floor. You'll walk in, see that it's tiny and disgusting. When you walk around the property you will notice the trash everywhere, along with the typical over flowing dumpsters. Watch out for the dog poop that is scattered all over as well. If you like to walk in the woods use caution because there are a few homeless camps abutting the property. When the winter time comes, good luck walking through the parking lot and be extra careful on the sidewalks. The company who "landscapes" and does the winter maintenance is horrible. This past winter I fell outside while trying to help my elderly neighbor in from his vehicle. You'll get all moved in, and will have to listen to loud neighbors above you, if you're on the first or second floor. Like anywhere else, rent is due on the first of the month, and is expensive. If you're on time with the rent payment but a few days late on paying for your water and sewer bill, you'll get a note left in front of your door. COCKROACHES, PEOPLE. I was suckered into moving in here four years ago due to a low rental rate. Well, it did not stay low for long, my rent increases at least $50 every year, I am now paying nearly $1100, without pets. THe place smells like weed and smoke constantly, the police are here every day. the noise I have had to endure from the kids upstairs is UNREAL, and I cannot enjoy my tiny balcony because these kids stand on it naked several times a day, and sometimes they pee down onto my space. THey also constantly throw things down over their railing. Other neighbors will stand at the entrance and fight in the filthiest terms imaginable. In the winter your neighbors will be too lazy to walk their dogs...so the entire walkway, both sides will be covered in urine and feces. I am not kidding. And now, at least one building has been graced with cockroaches. If you want to live in a ghetto, go up the street to Meadowbrook where you can pay $250 less for rent, read more

I lived here from 2008 - 2011. Pros: Heat is included, 24 hr maintenance was reliable, there's a pool, and you can usually get a cheap introductory rent for your first year. Cons: Luke who works in the admin office is super rude. Also, you pay sewer, which is only about $25 per month, but still an additional bill to worry about. And the biggest problem with this place: they up rent A LOT after your first year. And even more the year after that. And EVEN MORE if don't renew your lease. For example, I was paying about $800 the first year. Then, it went up to $875 if I signed a 16-month lease. After that lease was up, we wanted to move, so I wanted to go month-to-month. It was going to be $1075 per month if I didn't sign a lease! And if I did sign a lease, it was going to be $975. And they essentially trap you into staying there, because you need to give them 60-days notice when you want to move out, but no new landlord will allow you to wait 60-days before moving in. My husband and I moved into Penacook Place Apartments a couple of months ago. The apartment we were shown looked really nice. New Carpets, fresh paint, and the small deck through the sliding door looked brand new. We have lived in apartments before, but have never had any of the problems that we have here. We thought Penacook would be quiet, peaceful, and it would give us time to search for a house. No one in the building follows policies about moving their cars for plowing. This causes snow to build up and the parking lot becomes a skating rink. The people upstairs are constantly fighting and having parties. While having a party, one of the guests decided to climb our deck from the post. The neighbor across the hall leaves her children who are under the ages of 10 by themselves all the time. No Supervision. They scream, run, and play in the hallways past 10 o'clock at night. None of our neighbors work at all and are always home. Oh and the apartment buildings always smell like smoke, because there is no rule that says you can't smoke in the building. Also not sure of the guys name in the office, but I'm pretty sure his name is Luke! He is rude. There is also a new flyer put on my door every day. It's quite annoying. Penacook place keeps trying to get the residents to refer someone or they try to pass word through notices being left on the door. It's getting quite old. The people in the office say nothing when you have a complaint either accept for "We hope you have an enjoyable time at Penacook Place or Penacook Place Welcomes You" This is supposed to be my home, but I don't feel welcome in it. I have to sleep with a gun by my bed in order to sleep at night, because the neighbors are crazy(not a joke)! read more
