Pendleton blankets...but wait there is more!
    Catalina M.

I parked right in front of the mall to go to the Monterey Aquarium. I did not notice the Pendleton Outlet sign until we were walking back to the car. I was in trouble...I collect Pendleton blankets so I HAD to stop! The women's clothes were very picked over but they had gorgeous men's flannels shorts, coats, hats. They had quite a few blankets too Most of the blankets were perfect, only some had defects and they were marked clearly so you knew the defect They also had purses, tote bags, wallets, iPad cases, etc! I was in heaven and found a blanket I have been thinking about buying for 5 yrs. the price was fantastic, and it was in perfect condition. I bought the last one! The gal carefully placed it in its Pendleton box. They also hold me I could call them with any blanket request and they could order it and get it at their store. Very friendly service.

We really had a great experience here thanks to Marissa! My Wife and I wandered in while waiting to be seated at a nearby restaurant and when we saw some of the prices we were amazed! We both love the brand but it's so pricey usually. Marissa was extremely pleasant and very attentive while we spent time shopping. We had to put the items on hold while we ate. When we returned Marissa was again very helpful and in a great mood. We excitedly found several items for both of us. Once I got back to our hotel I tried on some items and realized I needed to return to the store and exchange the items. Thankfully Marissa was walking in just was we were and she greeted us with a big smile and "Welcome back" Marissa made the exchange so easy and we even found several more items(again) that we just love. Throughout our time in the store Marissas assistance and input really added a lot of fun and excitement to our experience. While another nearby employee stood quietly seemingly Avoiding interacting with customers we were happy to have Marissa and her wonderful personality helping us(and others). We will definitely be back on our next visit from San Diego. Marissa, Thank You for making our Pendleton Experience so Memorable and Awesome!

Very pricey. Some things were not worth what they were priced. Like the hats... I don't think any hat should be more than $50. So $76 is kind of crazy. Even the clearance section was expensive. It's not like the clothes were super fashionable or made of diamonds or anything. They were just regular looking clothes. They're comfortable but not worth the price.

It's pretty much a must when visiting Monterey…read more Yes, it's geared mainly for visitors not locals but, with the greatest aquarium in the world and the history of this part of California, there is something for everyone here. Besides the numerous gifts shops, hotels, restaurants, and bakeries, I enjoyed walking the street and reading the signs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=_GeO7eI7DvfdHmFW4m0_fw), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=2_is_N1U14FAI_e3OvKzRQ), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=EZRWT_hc1f8giWPM7Aajdg), and admiring the statues along the walkway. There are iconic people (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=-5PpBw_v1zzCEwAyUUxgVA) as well as historical memorials (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=eSUIHGmndBCAg82Ch67zTQ) to the people who built this community. A mix of various shops, tourist gift sellers, restaurants, hotels, and eateries (ice cream shops, delis, and bakeries). On one end, you'll find the aquarium. The other way, you'll reach the Monterey Plaza Hotel and San Carlos Beach. I mainly walked this my 1st evening here on a Thursday and it was on the quiet side (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=zeTCcVncpby2ciMVUrkz6Q). When I returned Saturday afternoon, the streets were filled but not overwhelming so since there were no major events on this weekend (auto show previous weekend and the Monterey Jazz Festival two weekends later). The weather was comfortable with a cool ocean breeze. It's probably best to prepare your activities somewhere along here after you visit the aquarium if that's on your schedule. Enjoy this part of Monterey and learn more about the history here.

Upon approach, it may seem that there isn't all that much to it, but once you're on the boardwalk, you realize that a lot of the good stuff is tucked away, a little out of sight, so exploration rewards the traveler. Apparently the aquarium here is also quite the draw, although we didn't pop in during our brief stay here. Lastly, the old Fisherman's Wharf, a little ways to the south-southeast, is almost an extension of all the things that make Cannery Row worth checking out: more shops, more restaurants, and more history. All together, one of the best attractions, and most exciting tourist destinations, in all of Monterey!

One thing about going to a new city is how you imagine an area in your mind's eye, sometimes…read moredoesn't match the reality. Knowing that this outdoor shopping center was 3 stories and had over 30 stores, I expected the area around it to be like a city center, with heavy foot and car traffic, lots of noise, and business advertisement. Instead, I wasn't sure if we were in the right place, because the neighborhood looked residential. The city planners/architects did a really nice job to implement this intention. The shopping center first opened in 1960, as an open-air courtyard style with a luxury department store, unheard of at the time for a town that small. Throughout the years, it hosted a major department store chain (Saks Fifth Avenue) as well. Now, in keeping with Carmel's intention to not have any national brand retail in it's city limits, the majority of stores/restaurants at this mall are local (though there are exceptions like Tiffany & Co, Anthropologie, and Brunello Cuccinelli). We got lucky and found free street a block from the center. Even on a Monday late morning, it was quite busy with tourists and locals alike hanging out in the main courtyard. A really nice feature was the large outdoor gas firepit that people were using to keep warm. We had come for a particular restaurant, but were informed that they were closed for the day for a private event (no signs or mention on their website)...I guess that's how this particular business rolls.
