This is a great little resale store in the heart of New Monterey which is a few blocks up from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I found this unique cowboy shirt with a game design on it for around $40. I dropped into Fashion Trade after buying my Derby dress across the street at Cat's Meow to search for shoes or a purse. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, letting me walk through the racks with ease and without feeling intense scrutiny and they had a ton of really cute items in multiple qualities (high and low end) and sizes. Though they tend to err on the plus-size and over size ten. I saw a cute Tripp top and some really fun jeans, and best of all everything seemed really affordable before the clearance sale and a steal after the red tag. A lot of it just wasn't my size. But I'll loving dropping in again to see what new items she has in after her sale! read more

We popped in here to browse for a bit, and were greeted warmly buy the owner--though I didn't find anything for myself, my husband scored a unique find: a vintage leather slightly distressed chocolate leather bomber jacket. Thy don't make them like this anymore: the seamed details, multiple inner and outer pockets, the buttery leather that's in contemporary parlance, is termed "lamb leather." But the vintage nature of it is telling because the label says, "sheep" clean :-) The prices are right at this little place, where they are not crazy consignment markups, but perfectly sound, e.g. for this incredible jacket, which will last a lifetime, we spend less than a hundred bucks. I popped into this store the other day without expecting much, and I was blown away. She packs in so many really nice items, and has it super organized by sizes and colors. It's nothing like a thrift store where there is a lot of chaos and low quality stuff, and yet her prices are excellent! I found the quality and pricing to be better than those online apps such as Poshmark, and better of course because you can try on the clothes in person before buying. The owner is very engaging, friendly, helpful and offers everyday discounts for students, teachers, military and seniors. I went in to "just look" and Kim Lawson - owner/operator styled me on the spot! She has a fun, lively personality and really encouraged me to "go outside of my comfort zone". Which meant incorporating color and pattern into my wardrobe. She definitely has a knack. The store itself contained a large diversity of inventory and of course cant help but check out the 2$ rack in front. Clean shop and right in the center of The Lighthouse District in Monterey. An adorable shop. I was visiting from so cal and didn't think to bring warmer clothes up north because I was used to the heat. I wanted to get something cheap and warm just for the few days I would be up north. I found fashion trade on yelp. Goodwill was actually across the street but I saw a rack of $1 items at Fashion Trade. The lady here was so nice and friendly. I ended up buying more than I needed because I found some good items for super cheap. Everything in the shop is well organized and there's so much selection. I got to pick a free gift with my purchase. I was so absent minded that I left my debit card there and went to go eat down the street. When I noticed what I had done I went started heading back and I saw the lady's daughter running down the street to me to give me back my card. I was so relieved and impressed by their honestly. I've been to Fashion Trade several times now to sell my clothing for in-store credit. I love it! The store is very well organized: by type, size and color. Prices are very reasonable. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There are often sales or free items if you spend 'x' amount. Most items are of recent style, but occasionally you might find a good vintage piece. I went into Fashion Trade for the first time last week and met the owner Cindy! She was AMAZING and so helpful with selling clothes. I also bought a few items, and got a free little goodie of my choice, they have a cute selection that you choose from! They offer student/military discounts and they even have a customer appreciation program. I could tell Cindy really cared about my best interest in selling my items, I would highly recommend checking out Fashion Trade for buying or selling stuff! This consignment store is very clean and well-organized. The sizes were exactly in order by color also. The customer-service from the owner and her daughter was top notch. They helped me pick out things to go together and brought it all to me while I was still in the dressing Room. They made my shopping experience so much fun. Hmmm....if you're like me and have neglected to invest your money in a 401 K but have instead invested it in your closet, this place may be of interest. A consignment store where they pay you up front for your no longer needed items. Although the person who owns the store is nice, she definitely has an edge to her. Yolanda truly is a doll! I've had some not so good luck with Plato's Closet - they never take my lightly used, name brand clothes anymore (and - yes perhaps I am getting a bit beyond my Forever 21 years). She took a good amount of clothes and gave me a fair amount to either exchange or take as cash. It will always be more for an exchange vs cash. Ok clothes...more like a Goodwill thrift than a consignment shop. That's not necessarily bad, but the prices you see are NOT thrift store prices..I wasn't impressed. Shop is very small and crowded with racks blocking other racks, so on the day we visited it was actually almost impossible to shift through the racks of offerings...and I'm a seasoned shopper!! I did rate 3 stars because the clothes are clean and fairly current. read more

I've lived in Monterey for years and this was the first time I've ever popped into the shop. I wasn't expecting much but BOY was I wrong. First off, the woman working there was the sweetest, and was quick to offer help with grabbing sizes/purses/shoes down from the top displays. The selection was incredible, and amazingly organized by sizes and color. Prices were great; I found a brand new pair of Levi's (tags still on!!) for less than half of what I would have paid in store. Score! Handbag selection is also incredible. Prices are reasonable compared to other consignment shops- they have a large selection of clothes : worth the look.. They had a rack sale items 4 items for 10$! Unfortunately I walked out with nada! :( I will go back to see what they may have. I did not see very much high end clothes... If that's what you are looking for. read more

I thought the store was really cute and the lady who owns it was nice.. But I was a bit disappointed.. She bought 3 pairs of jeans and only wanted to pay 14.49 total.. I was going to buy a shirt as she mentioned that trade was 50% of purchase price like crossroads.. However she tried to get over on me.. She paid me 14.49 30% of purchase total and then tried to charge me for the top separately- granted the difference was only a few dollars-- I was not pleased.. read more

She took her time to go through each item of clothing and even offers various discounts for students, military, teachers (and 5% off for Friendship Day today!). She offered me two free items instead of one because I told her to keep the extra 32¢ in store credit that was left over from my trade-in. She offers cash or store credit and you will receive a stamp card that does not expire (you receive stamps for selling and for buying from her!) I will definitely be back to explore the rest of the high quality items her store offers. read more

This store is okay. It's very small and it's very hard to look through the racks. It has nice clothes and accessories, especially dresses, but it's just over stuffed with stuff. This store doesn't pay very well for what you bring in and the prices are kind of high for used clothes. I'd rather shop at Target where stuff is new, less expensive and easier to find. I doubt I'll go back. read more
