Beautifully curated, high and mid-end fashions. Mostly women but that's normal. My wife loves that the apparel are well made, fabric is very soft and fit is great. They carry names brands and nice trinkets for the home. You can find some great stuff here that is really affordable. As normal go to the rear of the store to get to the sale section. For Carmel, this store is very affordable. The staff always friendly and greets everyone coming through the door! They are not overbearing following you around the store, they allow you to browse and do your thing. Always with a smile, asking if you need assistance. read more

Great items and selection in a cute setting. However, I had a negative interaction with the staff and don't expect to return. One employee kindly asked if I wanted to add items to the dressing room, and I did. Later, three other employees were chatting with one another and I walked past them to enter the dressing room to try on my items. While I was in the dressing room, I heard one employee directing a male patron to try on items, and did not think for a second she would bring him into where I was as there were several open dressing rooms. Without warning or knocking, she directed the male patron to enter the dressing room, where I was in the middle of changing. It was extremely uncomfortable. She then apologized several times to the male patron, but did not say anything at all to me. I finished getting dressed, left the items I intended to purchase in the dressing room, and walked out. I walked by the same three employees, including the employee who let in the other patron, none of whom said a word to me. I honestly left the entire interaction feeling really embarrassed and don't think I will be back. read more

Always a great shop. They have everything you need if you dress too warm and it's hot out or you dress too light and it's windy and freezing. I've had to buy Patagonia jackets and t-Shirts here for those exact reasons. As I was, someone came in asking for socks cause they forgot em. This place has em. Disappointing store, no customer service. This store does sell a few nice brands and an ok selection, but I would never give them my business. The staff was cold and unwelcoming. They just kept following us around as if we were trying to steal. This experience did not leave a good last impression of Carmel. read more

Sometimes things don't go to plan. Sometimes there's 1 hour until the bride walks down the aisle and your dress is unfortunately at home (3 hours away). I called Coast Carmel and Caroline and team confirmed they had wedding appropriate dresses and set a few aside for me to try on. The team was awesome, I was in and out in 10 minutes and made it on time. I love the dress, not something I would have ever picked for myself were I not in a bind but I looked great! I got a ton of compliments at the wedding and had a great story to tell too! Really appreciate them going the extra mile and helping make a miracle happen. read more

This is one our favorite stores in Carmel. We found some great clothing and accessories at sales prices while we were here. The service was wonderful as well! We originally came in to find a warm jacket for my husband. He tried on several styles. When he found a couple of jackets he really liked, the very knowledgeable salesperson helped him decide between the two. While he shopped, my son and I found some great Patagonia backpacks. I also noticed lots of cute clothing. There were plenty of pretty sweaters, jackets, and scarfs. We also noticed the fairly large sales section here. The salespeople were so nice here. With all that wonderful apparel and great sales items, this was such a fun place to shop. read more

Terrible customer experience. They don't stand by their products. My wife was given a gift certificate for Coast, and she bought a beautiful sweater from Z Supply. We washed it on cold and laid it flat to dry. It turned out pilled and looks like crap. I called the store and spoke to Lauren. She told me that because it was washed, they couldn't exchange it because of policy. I explained that anyone would have had the same problem after washing the item, as that WAS the defect. She was unhelpful despite us buying multiple expensive items, so now we have a crappy sweater to help us remember why we'll never spend money at Coast again. For these prices, a store should be interested in the customer's experience. read more

I live locally and used to always love browsing around this store for cute gifts. I was here this past weekend looking for a gift for a friend and the customer service was terrible! The employees followed me around the whole store, and as I went to check out with my two items they accused me of stealing. I was appalled! My hands were always visible to the employees and my behavior was normal, there was no reason for them to accuse me of stealing. In addition, I went to check out with the EXACT items I had in my hand the entire time. On a whim, we stopped into this cute shop on Ocean Ave. and were pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of items. Nicely displayed and there seemed to be something for everyone. I had a tumble with a Log in the ocean, the log won! But then I won when I meet Megan in this fantastic store as all my clothes were soaked. Megan saw my leg all scraped up and went over and above to help me clean up that mess and find a "Dry" set of clothes I could even use in the future. I bought $425 worth of Patagonia gear and a new hat. I didn't end up needing the hat, and took it in, requesting a return for the hat only. Their store policy (which no one informed me of) was that it was store credit only, and the store manager was incredibly rude about the request for a return. Be forewarned, that their products are lovely, but that their customer service is severely lacking. Buyer beware. You're stuck with whatever you purchase. read more

I discovered Coast during my first visit to Carmel a few months ago, and I made it a point to swing by the store when I was in town this weekend. They have such a great selection of quality brands but without that pretentious boutique vibe that I get from similar stores. Most of that is due to the staff, who were all super nice and helpful. Lauren was particularly awesome in helping me shop for jewelry and directed me to a beautiful line from a local designer. I didn't end up making a purchase, but I still appreciated Lauren chatting with me as I tried on different necklaces and making me feel welcome as a tourist. I loved this store when I visited it in early April. I could have easily bought everything there! The staff were friendly as well and seemed to genuinely want me love what I purchased.
