Made repeated attempts to have my daughter's records sent to her new doctor. They kept trying to make me pay for them. You only pay when you personally want them, not to have them transferred to a new practice. Now the new doctor has no way of knowing her shot history etc, because the practice is being so difficult about passing on this information. She is 2 years away from college where this information is imperative and the office will not transfer the records. This is highly disappointing. read more

Dr Kodu and his practice staff are biased and need to be reported to the HHS OCR Health civil rights medical regulatory laws office's in Washington Dc and Richmond VA licensing office's. He treats all African American patients different from other patients, provides unequal access to care depending on what ethnicity you are, is rude and disrespectful to some - his staff act the same way ofcourse under his leadership. 1. Biased negative behavior to some, rude, disrespectful, always late, non helpful, rushes, makes some wait for along time, never accountable and unprofessional attitude and demeanor to some depending on your ethnicity if your African American this is the care given. 2. Unequal access to care depending on your ethnicity, if your African American, this is the care given. 3. we have been seeing Dr. Kodu since my babies were born, so it's been 8 years now. He is an amazing doctor and Dr. Saha has been working at the ashburn office since last year and she is amazing too. they both always listen to my worries and act fast to prevent my kids from getting worst when they are sick. read more

Referred a friend and now I see it was a huge mistake. Worst service I have ever seen !!! Left on hold and disconnected 3 times without getting one word in. The receptionist asked on 3 separate calls can you hold, and immediately placed me on hold before I could possibly answer. PATHETIC PRACTICE! UPDATE: To be fair a Nurse and the Doctor finally called my friends but only after a very harsh VM I had left for the nurse and my above review. It should never have taken these actions to receive a callback but my friends said the Doctor seemed genuinely concerned about his staff's unprofessional treatment of his patients and said he would look into it and correct it. I can only hope so because the lack of response was unacceptable. read more

My son was initially going to another large pediatric office and I switched to Dr. Kodu. At the previous practice I felt like my son was just a number and they used to rush him through all his visits. I absolutely love this office. Dr. Kodu takes the time to LISTEN and hear out any of my concerns. My son has been seeing Dr. Kodu since he was 1 years old and he is now 3. My son has allergies and he has been instrumental in finding the right specialist and seeking additional treatment. How have I not reviewed them yet?? My daughter was born premature and Dr. Kodu has been there every step of the way for us. He is kind and we LOVE the receptionist and nurse as well. Their practice used to be in the Ashburn Village shopping center and I am happy they moved. This place has easier parking and it's just warmer, newer, and nicer. Not to mention the fact that it's RIGHT near Starbucks so after well-visits, mommy can treat herself! :) Dr. Kodu is so amazing that my daughter wanted to dress like a doctor for Halloween. My kids love him and his staff and he is just so supportive. We can call his emergency line any time of the night and he will get back to us and give us answers. He does not sugar-coat anything. He is straight-forward and honest and I respect that about him. I have always felt as though I can ask him anything about the kids from their weight (are they gaining enough weight?? too much??) when they were little babies to their attitudes as toddlers. (Normal. This too shall pass.) I don't know what I would do if he moved to another area or stopped taking our insurance. We love the staff so much and they always remember the kids names and are so happy to see them! I LOVE the late hours too. Some days, he is open and takes appointments until 8pm which is AMAZING because I can't always make it to appointments earlier in the day. read more

This family practice isn't even worth the 1 star rating. The office professionals or lack there of are rude and very INAPPROPRIATE. The physician is the worst! We are a new family to the area and my son needed a physical for school. It was explained to the nurse that he didn't need any vaccinations because he was up to date. The doctor said we were going to be charged because he had already drawn up the meningococcal-a, (your child gets this between the ages 10-15yrs old) when it was repeated and explained again why the parents were not giving our child this medication that's when the practioner became irate told my husband that he was rude and we were ruining his day. If you are new to the area like we are do yourself a favor and avoid the trouble find another practice. read more

Words cannot describe how much I appreciate Dr. Kodu and his team! As a first time mother of a premie, I worry so much about every single thing. My daughter, who goes to daycare, always gets sick (especially the first year) and he has always put my mind at ease. He is knowledgeable and kind. You can really tell he cares about his patients. My daughter is 3 and has been seeing Dr. Kodu and his team since birth. He is such a caring doctor. He takes the time to listen to your concerns and is very gentle in his care towards my daughter. She now looks forward to the visits and seeing the Fish tank in the office. The best thing about their practice is the office hours. Not only are they always available for sick visits, but twice a week they stay open until 8pm. Dr Kodu at Penguin Pediatrics is great. If your kid is sick he will create an appointment for them somehow on the same day. He returns the calls promptly on weekends and evenings....and middle of the night...when my baby was due last year and we suspected my older one had flu, He opened his clinic on Saturday to confirm the flu and give meds. My 6 year old loves him and says he is the best doctor ever. He also thinks that there is nothing Dr Kodu cannot fix. read more

Dr. Kodu and his staff are amazing! They are so welcoming and caring. My son has been seeing Dr. Kodu since he was one. My son had horrible eczema when he was a baby and multiple doctors could not figure out how to help, but Dr. Kodu did. He found that my son had allergies and was allergic to multiple things. One thing that amazed me recently was Dr. Kodu had not seen my son for almost a year and the first thing he said when walking into the room was how much better my sons skin looked (due to how bad he eczema was before.) I've always known Dr. Kodu truly cares about his patients but that moment was even more proof. After all the patients he sees, he remembers and truly knows his patients. I have a hard time trusting Doctors but I can 100% trust Dr. Kodu.. he knows his stuff! read more

Recently switched to Penguin Pediatrics after going to Whole Child for 4 years. I love the nurses and the front desk girls here. They are always very friendly and helpful and will process request quickly. I recently called P.P to fax over my daughters vaccination records to her school but I didn't have the fax number. The receptionist said it was no problem and that she would call the school and get their fax number, it was faxed and taken care of within the hour. I haven't had much interaction with Dr. Kodu but, the one and only one time I did he seemed very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and concerns regarding a certain vaccine. I'm glad I made the switch and definitely recommend Penguin Pediatrics to anyone. read more

We have been seeing Dr.Kodu since he was chosen by Dr.McDonald to take over the practice from her (~2002 timeframe). He is patient, kind, listens, and takes his time with every patient. Both of my children see Dr. Kodu and they love him. If we have an emergency and need a sick visit, they always fit us in. Dr. Kodu keeps up with the latest information and research. He doesn't rush to medicine, and offers some home remedies as well. If there is an issue where a specialist might be better suited (i.e., allergist for allergy shots), he always makes great recommendations. It is a great feeling to know that my children are in great hands and the best care available! read more

Dr Kodu has been an absolute rock for our family. He is incredibly kind and patient and a wonderful Doctor. When my second daughter was born, dr Kodu came to the hospital and detected a murmur which the other doctors and nurses had missed. A cardiologist was called in and indeed dr Kodu was correct in his diagnosis. We were so relieved and appreciative! When my daughter turned three his vision screening detected an abnormality in her ability to focus in one eye. Because of his early detection screening we were able to intervene early to correct s very serious case of amblyopia. if you have a fever or cough and cold, you are seen promptly and calls are returned promptly any time of day or night.
