When he called he informed us that the evaporator coil was still under warranty. He checked on the warranty without us asking. We paid for the labor and the refrigerant but not the evaporator coil. He saved us several thousand dollars. A day later the AC stopped working again and we called him back to see what was wrong. He explained that a capillary tube was leaking and that caused the refrigerant to leak out. He made the repair and told us that there was no charge for the repair because he said it could have possibly been done during the installation of the evaporator coil. I have had Riverside repair my heat pump a few times in the last couple of years at my home. they…read morewere prompt in returning calls and great at diagnosing what had been wrong. So when my heat pump wasn't working this week I called Riverside to come out and check and found to be low on Freon and had a leak in my system. Tech told me they charged 325$ to search for leak and locate. No problem. The problem is I assumed that he had already used his ultrasonic leak detector on heat pump where he had hooked his meters up and checking voltages. The leak detector is just a handheld device that detects Freon in the atmosphere. Well I was wrong and it cost me a locate plus service call. 415$ This just kinda hit me wrong. So when I was left with a decision to replace my heat pump I probably would have got them to replace even though Riverside was 1500$ more than who I got to replace. Just ask more questions and don't assume.
