I sat in the waiting room over 2 hours on March 25 waiting for my 2 week post op for my total knee replacement. By the time I saw the doctor, my knee was so swollen that I could barely bend it and I was in pain. I was told by the doctor that the front desk messed up and didn't put my chart in the right place when I checked in. This is UNACCEPTABLE treatment. My wife saw Dr. Klek. Nice man. Referred us to a specialist and then SAT ON HER RECORDS FOR 2 MONTHS until they forwarded them causing to lose a hard to get appointment. Then we got another appt and needed an MRI but their office dropped the ball AGAIN and now we are facing losing a 2nd appointment. Waiting on them to send a pre-authorization that they tried to blame the MRI facility for. Stop with the garbage about how converting to a new records system in the issue. That is nonsensical. I went to see Dr. Scoop about my right knee, he said I needed to have orthoscopy but I need a knee replacement. I agreed to the surgery, now my knee is worse and I can barely walk. I called the office out on this now they have cancelled all of my future appointments, and removed my ability to contact them on MyChart. Terrible experience . Did not listen to my complaints and misdiagnosed me even after multiple appts and a lot of pain .eventually diagnosed correctly by nurse practitioner at pain management. Spoke with office manager who tried to cover up their mistakes and removed my chart from their portal I was on short term disability for 6 months until I had surgery with another practice that took excellent care of me. I endured severe physical pain and financial difficulties because of this practice I am a nurse so I know what I am telling you is very accurate . would not recommend this practice to anyone read more

The PA and Hand surgeon did a poor job of coordinating care for an infected finger due to Septic arthritis as they said it could not be handled locally. They had no contact info in referring to the Baltimore area. Thanks to the EDMD at Tidal Health at Peninsula, specialized care at the Hand Center at Union Memorial Hospital prevented further damage due to a serious infection. Im hoping this does not happen to another patient needing hand care. read more

3 years ago the hand and wrist surgeon operated on my wrist , which was supposed to be a minor arthroscopic surgery . My insurance paid for everything , so I thought, but my wrist was in worse shape than it was before the surgery . I went back a few times , but at this point I had pretty much lost all faith in this doctor . I did not want shots or physical therapy as I already had been down that road . The pain was incredible and I have to wear a brace 24/7 . 3 years later I received another bill for $175 for a second surgeon . I have no idea what a second surgeon does but I've had very big back surgeries before and never had to pay for a second surgeon . Next thing I know , I'm getting sued for this money . I'm in worse shape than I was before he operated and a whole lot of money has been spent on the surgery that didn't work and now they want more . I had no choice but to pay it , but make sure you get all the details if you ever go and decide to have surgery by one of their doctors . Never was I informed that there would be a second surgeon icharge which is exactly the same as the first surgeon charge , which I already paid . So now I have to pay attorney fees court costs Etc . Definitely will not be recommending or going back there for any further surgeries or treatments . We are retired people raising our granddaughter and I do not have money to throw at these already rich doctors especially when they left me in worse shape than they found me read more

Do not let a bill go unpaid with this doctor!! They will send your outstanding balance to a creditor called Bay Area Receivables, a dept collector that IS NOT accredited with the Better Business Bureau and has a One star rating in customer reviews and 24 complaints filed in the past 3 years. The amount we owed with Peninsula Ortho went from $5090 to over $8000. We unfortunately did not have insurance when my daughter broke her leg because my husband was switching jobs so we had to pay out of pocket. We applied for financial assistance with the doctor and were denied which makes no sense. I paid as much as I could and then let it go. The billing office never reached out by phone to let me know this was going to collections. A reputable orthopedic doctor shouldn't work with a collection company that preys on people who are already financially struggling. read more

I have never been so upset by the incompetence of seeing 2 doctors at POA. First of all waited 1 hr. After waiting a month for appmt in severe pain. I advised Dr Scopp I had severe pain since December 9 2022 n my right hip, radiated to my lower right back. He took xray said nothing wrong w your hip only pressed on my knee while I sat I chair and asked if that hurt. No other physical point checks. Said go to physical therapy you have a sprain on your hip and or psoas muscle. Then told me to see Dr Gelman for F/U and left after about a 10 minute visit. Physical therapy had no appointment for a other month. I waited another month to see Dr. GELMAN. I asked him why the change he advised Dr Scopp doesn't see patients over 50. This is discrimination. I asked Dr Gelman for an MRI of my hip and he aruged with me about contrast could damage my kidneys. I said gadolinium is safe. I got my PCP to order it for me. RResults NO PROBLEMS WITH My Hips. And medicare was charged over $400. For another Dr. GELMAN $400 MISDIAGNOSIS! I JUST HAD ANOTHER MRI OF MY LUMBAR SPINE AND HAVE DAMAGE, BULGING DISKS AND ONE BONE SPUR AND DAMAGE TO MY L5 TO S1 JOINTS WITH HERNATION. THESE DOCTORS MISDIAGNOSED MY HEALTH PROBLEMS AFTER 3 MONTHS OF PAIN. AND I WOULD NOT TRUST THEM WITH ANYTHING THEY SAY. GO TO ANOTHER ORTHOPEDIC FACILITY FOR PROVEN MEDICAL DOCTORS WHO CARE. This is the absolute worst place I've ever tried just scheduling an appt for. I have a torn hamstring and can barely walk but can't get a hold of anyone to simply schedule an appointment. Update: Immediately after my review I was able to get an appointment with Bo the same day. I'm grateful for the appointment. I'm sad it took turning to Yelp to actually get someone to listen to me. I'm sure the doctors here are good, but the staff answering the phone and the patient liaisons are extremely rude. I asked to leave a message for Bo, Dr. Trauger's PA and was told by liaison Laurie (sp?) I could do that, but he wouldn't call me back. I just couldn't believe she would say that. But she actually called me back to tell me she spoke to Bo and he said he wouldn't call me back and my only alternative is to make an appointment to talk to Dr. Trauger. So I made my appointment, two weeks out was the best they could do. Then that appointment was canceled due to technical difficulties. I've now been scheduled out another two and 1/2 weeks out. All to just ask for a referral to someone in the practice so I can get the surgery I need. I'm the meantime I'm pretty much bedridden, in pain, can't walk. In this day and age, this entire practice needs an overhaul. Also I've left messages for the office manager, but surprise, no call back. My daughter broke her arm last summer at gymnastics and we were admitted to Tidalhealth Hospital. Dr. Huber performed surgery to correct it (closed reduction percutaneous pinning). Everything went pretty well except when we received the bill. The bill stated the surgery was outpatient cataract surgery. Called immediately to have it corrected. They did so but they coded it as outpatient surgery still causing my insurance to think my daughter received a scheduled surgery without a referral. Called numerous times (Jessica Ward was initially helpful but has ignored all my messages since. Heather Long was even less helpful. She claimed because we did not stay overnight in the hospital post surgery that this is considered outpatient surgery and not an emergency surgery which is just wildly incorrect). When I asked Ms. Long for more of an explanation since a child breaking a bone is an emergency in all instances, she abruptly asked to transfer me to their 3rd party billing company. I called my insurance company and they can see that the hospital itself billed it as an emergency surgery but POA did not. And even more alarming, they let me know that POA also billed my insurance and received payment for a knee surgery on the same day my daughter got her arm surgery. A knee surgery that we never received and was never diagnosed for. Moral of the story-always double check your medical bills especially from this blundering front office staff. UPDATE 3/29/24-the day after this review was posted I finally received a callback from Jessica. There was a lot of confusion and mistakes that were made that POA insists is not typical of their practice. In short, what was determined was that the surgery my daughter received is typically an outpatient surgery and usually scheduled 24-48 hours after diagnosis. However, for whatever reason, we received surgery that same day we were admitted to the ER, which by the way I wish I knew I had the option to schedule it the next day as it took a lot of work and stress to do it that same day. My parents had to drive 3 hours to come get my other child who was stuck in the hospital all day while his sister was being treated and my husband had to fly home a day sooner than planned when he was at a funeral for a family member. Again, no one made it seem like I had an option but to get the surgery right then and there. But anyway, the proper paperwork was not done at the time or perhaps it was an oversight. Hard to say but the authorization and referrals usually ordered by the staff on call were not done properly for us. This caused a cascade of issues for us mainly because it looked to my insurance that we did not get proper authorization for this surgery and so we were charged a copayment even though in reality we shouldn't have had to pay anything per our insurance coverage. POA has finally corrected this after 6 months and taken the balance off for us since they acknowledged the proper administrative steps were not taken. Furthermore, the incorrect CPT code for a knee surgery we didn't get was done in human error, as per POA's explanation, and they are working with my insurance to clear this up. Appreciate that this has all been finally corrected but it took a lot of calls and work on my part to get this done. I do believe Jessica sincerely wanted to help and she was apologetic about the entire ordeal. I do wish that it had not taken a google review for them to want to help me. But such is business and the business of healthcare. Moral of the story...always double check your bills and don't give up until the proper corrections are made. read more

I spent 16 months with numb legs, pain, and recieved over a year of neglectful services from the nurses and physicians resulting in me now having serious medical issues referred to a neurological surgeon. They never ordered an MRI they just kept pushing me off to other facilities and now i have slipped disc's in my lumbar, thoracic and cervical locations and can't hardly move. On top of that once they found out they basically said this was over their head and have administratively screwed up my care and future and surgery. They could learn a great deal from Dr. Hooker from another organization about how to actually work for a legitimately suffering patient. Scale from 1 to 5 and 5 being great POA gets a 1. this is one of those places where the people who make the schedules for the doctors really don't seem to reserve enough time for each patient. The Doctors here are wonderful, as are some of their assistants. our appointment was at 1:30, and even after arriving a little early to fill out the necessary paperwork, we did not get brought back to our exam room until 2:30. However, with a spinal injury, a shattered ankle, and very sore cheser t, it was very uncomfortable sitting in a wheelchair waiting for my appointment. When I finally asked why they were so behind after waiting for an hour, we were brought back to our room. I had my surgical cast taken off and numerous stitches taken out of my ankle, and was given a new cast to last for four weeks. I also had several X-rays taken of my ankle and back. My back X-rays required me to stand up for several X-rays, which was less than pleasant with all of the open wounds on my leg (in between casts) and having to stand on only ONE leg. It seems that people here want to act like they are here to help their patients, but they just want to get the job done, and do not seem to really understand how a patient having multiple traumatic injuries might feel in various situations. Our visit lasted three hours, when really our time with the doctors and radiologist was approximately 45 minutes, at best. This place would be a wonderful office if the people who created the schedules for visits would possibly reduce the amount of patients scheduled so closely to each other. What is wrong with wanting patients to feel more comfortable and be treated with respect. Isn't our time just as valuable? read more

Please do yourselves a favor and take the time and drive two hours to university of Maryland orthopedic or mercy hospital orthopedic if you are in need of a joint replacement surgery. I was left crippled and refused treatment by Dr Gellman and found it nearly impossible to find a surgeon to go behind these surgeons. Dr. Gelman refused to do a revision surgery stating it would be his first time doing one and basically he was beneath making a mistake it must have been my fault. My knee was locked at 70 degrees and leaving me walking on the ball of my foot with a walker and cane. Finally found a tremendous surgeon at University of Maryland orthopedic and he did a total knee replacement revision surgery on November 30. I'm already walking with walker and have full extension and roughly 90 degree flexion on my own not pushing myself. The waiting room at University of Maryland was/is full of people from the eastern shore and Sussex county trying to get proper orthopedic care and revision help. I spent a week at encompass physical rehabilitation and the place was full of fellow residents trying to get over failed procedures by peninsula orthopedic associates. The doctors there have become a bunch of self absorbed narcissistic jerks who are merely driven by increased revenue and not patient care. The surgeon at University of Maryland reassured me he would give me his best effort to get me walking again after what I had been through. His response " that's all I do are revisions I fix everyone else's screw ups". Save yourselves the inevitable suffering and make the choice to experience the trauma once and not like u had to deal with two total knee replacement surgeries in less than two years. I had to have my knee totally removed twice and redone causing tremendous trauma to my bone. I had to do physical rehabilitation and it took them a whole day to break me if walking up on the ball of my foot and teach me to walk properly again. Peninsula Orthopedic associates left me like that and had no desire to try and correct the problem that they created. During my second knee replacement revision surgery the doctor told me that there were several things done that they wouldn't do this way and my knee was full of crystalized bone scarring that formed behind the kneecap causing my severely crippling outcome but Dr Gellman said I was at fault. Also the prostetic was loose and too big but I was the one that caused the knee replacement failure. Run , RUN far away from this practice their rate of failure has become very high read more

First impressions are everything and after my appointment today, this may be my last time going to POA. I had a 8:30a appointment today and was not seen until 9:45. I waited patiently in the room until I couldn't wait anymore. I could hear other patients coming and going. (Mind you the waiting room was almost empty when I arrived). I felt like I was forgot about so I went to the front desk to ask do I need to reschedule. The doctor finally came and said "are you ok?". No I am not ok. I was there for neck pain. I have 3 damaged disc and had to wait over an hour in an uncomfortable chair just to be seen for 5 minutes. At that point I was truly frustrated, upset and no longer interested in discussing my health issue. I paid a $30 copay, waited almost a hour and 30 minutes just to be prescribed meds that I already have. No one checked on me. No one apologized for the delay. For all of that, they could have just gave me the doctor's message over the phone. I have a follow up appointment but after today, I am considering going elsewhere. I left the office in more pain from sitting so long than I did when I first walked through the door. Every office has delays but check on your patients who are waiting!! Their time matters too. No one should ever have to wait that long to be seen for 5 minutes. An 8:30 appointment turning into almost 10:00 appointment is unacceptable. read more

I went here due to good reviews. I needed a knee replacement. Doctor Trauger gave me half a knee replacement. He said there was nothing wrong with the other side of my knee. Now the other side of my knee has swollen up and is making crunching sounds when I bend it. My physical therapist turned green when I told him that I received half a knee replacement. He told me I will probably need the other side replaced in the future and will have to go thru physical therapy again. Don't be sold half a knee replacement. This POA has found a way of turning 2 knee replacements into 4 separate surgeries. It is also very difficult to communicate with them by phone. If they don't want to hear what you have to say, they will leave you on hold perminently read more

First contact in August and waited 75 mins. over scheduled appointment for an extremely brief consult - 7 minutes at best. Injection was scheduled after about 2 weeks and when requesting 2nd appointment .. waited a month after calls concerning level of pain -- to no avail ... Consulted with another doctor's PA and had an extensive consult and exam and in 24 hours had an MRI which immediately detected a fracture ... many many months of unnecessary pain .. would discourage anyone from this type of experience and disorganized practice. read more

The nurses liason line/desk has proven to be inadequate on 2 septate occasions causing severe repercussions with infections. Their inadequacies to actually listen to a patient or pass on appropriate information to attendinng doctors has caused considerable damage. A broken leg went horrible wrong based on bad and inaccurate information including lack of immediate treatment as needed to prevent the following outcome: an infection that crossed over requiring intervention from I.D. doctor, IV antibiotics (6 weeks), rehabilitation stay (6 weeks). Not only once, but second time because the liaison nurses are not paying attention to the details but going through the motions. Beyond saddened by such lack of consideration, medical knowledge and respect!! And no one's wants to talk to you!!! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Be aware that if you don't pay your bill in a timely fashion that they will not only send you to collections, but also send that information to the credit agencies which affects your credit score. Oh, then they will also take you to court over the owed amount and charge you "court costs" that they are vague about. My husband's bill was $197 originally. They added $165 in interest, fees, and court costs on a MEDICAL BILL. This shouldn't even be legal. I have never had another medical facility treat me like this, and I've had other medical bills that I've had to pay later, unfortunately. They do not treat you like a person. Instead, they send your bill to a collection agency where you get buried in even more debt. I would never recommend them or go there again. Healthcare is already extremely expensive, and they make it even more difficult. To be fair, I can't comment on his actual care because I was not there. read more

The reason I did not give POA five stars, is because the wait time just seems to be lengthy everytime we go here. Weather if we are on time or early, it makes no difference, it's reminds me of going to the hospital (ER), in fact the setting is very much like that of a hospital. Like most businesses, there are a few staff members that really stand out, there are the cordial ones that go out of there way and the other ones, who give very quick short answers like " I don't know." I find it difficult to understand why a person can not give a useful answer to a fair question regarding their workplace, after all they spend most of their waking hours there. Good news is the provider(s) we have been seeing, Dr. Kang and his PA Chris are great, they took good care of me and my family, that's the most important thing, the rest of the staff have room to improve, that's the good news. read more

The people up front are very nice and helpful, I have been twice for the same injury and have not waited long to be seen. My problem with this group is the doctors and associates. The first time I went for this injury I met with a PA and he was more interested in telling me how I felt than actually listening to my problem. He wanted to tell me how he had a similair problem and how his felt, then proceeded to write me a non-helpful prescription (anti-inflammatory for a severly herniated disk, my second time having this injury, my sciatic nerve was being crushed). I was only able to discuss my problem with him for 5 minutes before he walked out of the room. I was in a lot of pain and they were not trying to help. It took almost two weeks to be seen again by an actual doctor and after explaning I have been down this road before, he wanted to try physical therapy instead of discussing surgical options, which I knew were ineffective. Without any pain medicine, he asked me to come see him again in three weeks. Mind you, I cannot sleep through the night. I asked for something to take the edge off for sleeping and he said the prescription I had should help. I then asked for a temporary handicap tag due to my inability to walk long distances and because I used to ride a bike where I now have to walk. Another doctor overheard my request for the permit and gave me a look I certainly did not appreciate. To summarize, I felt from the moment I mentioned any pain medication and handicap permit I was being judged. They seemed to have me picked as a drug seeking individual who was trying to take advantage of my injury. I can assure you that is not that case. I will be returning to the doctor who helped me in the past on the western shore. Stay away from this place, they are not trying to help, just trying to get their job done. read more
