Had an opportunity to visit this shopping center for a few hours when I was in Hampton for a quick trip. Nice shopping center. Spent a good amount of time in Barnes and Noble (made some purchases) and purchased some clothing from Chicos. Overall a very pleasant distraction to the day. read more

I really love it here. It's an outdoor mall. There are restaurants, a movie theater, department stores and any store you will see in a mall plus some specialty stores. You do however have to pay for parking with parking meters. This is only during the day. There are even apartments atop the buildings. read more

If you have never been to the Peninsula Town Center out in Hampton, you need to. It's a mall set up outside, but it's not an outlet store type of place. It's a little town center with shops, a bakery, and bars/restaurants. It also has a movie theater, and bowling alley with a "late night" type of feel for adults twenty-one and up. I can never leave this Town Center without a smile on my face. The feeling I get from this area is "homey." Although most of the stores and restaurants are chains/brand named places, the workers are always so friendly, and approachable. I never get an attitude, or a smart remark. I would suggest spending a day at the Hampton Peninsula Town Center with a group of friends, or even family. It's a friendly place to all, with many things to choose to do. There's even a little playground for kids to play in when it's nice outside, that's set up right next to a local bakery. The Town Center has many dairy-free places, along with gluten-free or gluten sensitive restaurants as well. If you're looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon, or even night, I would take a trip to the Hampton Peninsula Town Center. There's also free parking, which is a plus, living in Norfolk and all, having to pay for parking at MacArthur or down town. ****IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON WATCHING A MOVIE HERE, AND YOU ARE NOT 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, do not plan on watching a movie or going bowling past 8PM. If you purchase your movie ticket online, they do not tell you that, and will turn you away. Bright side, they refund you, and there's so many restaurants to choose from below, it wouldn't even matter you can't watch a movie. read more

This is a great center to shop, dine and just spend time in the parks. Also the parking meters voluntary so you don't have to pay for parking anywhere! Yesterday when I was walking around there was an exercise class going on in the park. Very cool! read more

Just left the lovely Target in Hampton 3rd in the express lane after the cashier completes the ringing up customer 1 & 2 she abruptly states "I'm closed you can go to another lane." I responded with really" As I looked at customer #4 We all took a deep breathe & walked to the next lane over no cashier A blonde front end manager instructs our cashier to open up on the next aisle over then the blonde manager opens up on the previous closed express lane assisting the now 3 new customers that arrived after our journey from closed express to another unknown status line. The orginal customers behind me in express lane states "did I just see her blonde manager get the other customers out before us?" I said yes you did. Omgeees awful customer service Target. Taking my business to our new neighborhood Walmart who are so nice they will offer u a kidney if it will make your shopping experience better. read more

I'd really like them to get more stores and restaurants here.most of the restaurants are packed for dinner, so a nice upscale Dinner place would be nice. It is a pretty safe place, although some kids get out of had near the fountain area read more

It's a cute outdoor mall. Expect: outdoor entertainment, lots of restaurants, and retailers all looking to peak your interest.

Really nice outdoor shopping center. It seemed to have quite the variety of shops and everything was well laid out. I like the mix of shops and restaurants and parking is pretty easy. Will definitely be back for some shopping. read more

Great place to shop and dine. I absolutely love how it's outdoors. Makes you feel like your in a minature city. I didn't like having to pay to park. But later I found out that the money from the meters actually goes to the Change for Charity Community Foundation. So it's for a good cause. I don't mind supporting it as long as it's for a charity. After all, it's only a little change from my ashtray. I will definitely return on a sunny day. read more

Not a huge fan of outdoor malls but it pretty much have everything there. Plenty of parking.

Well, they wanted a upscale mall, example beer will cost you $8 at the pub, handful of fries, 2 pieces of what seems to be cod, $12 something. Food here is pricey. Many of the original stores have folded, prices too high for what they are, not D.C. income here in Hampton, stores replaced, the pattern continues, slowly going back to affordable stores, example they now have a small Pet Smart store at one far below obscure located in one of the closed stores. This type of pet store would have been frown on, originally, now used to fill empty store fronts. What they originally did was fill the center with $$$ nonsense, on the edge the typical JCPenny, B&N, now closed Macy's, and Target which abandoned its old building which was rather new, to move here. There is also a shopping tax I think it's 0.5 percent, on top of the stand taxes, this is to help pay of Hampton's issued public bonds to pay off this place in 30 years. The building are private but the parks, parking deck, streets are now public property. There in lies the rub of shopping this place, parking, getting to the stores. The streets are very narrow and tight for modern public streets. You can if you are lucky and can squeeze into street parking, and judging by the black marks on the curb many people can't, park in front of a store. There is the typical mall parking around it and a multilevel parking deck which seems mostly used by the apartment if you like exercise with your shopping experience. But all of this is a moot point if you want to pick up a bag of dog food, drop in Barnes and Noble or some other shop. You will find yourself multi parking, Pet Smart for example is at the extreme end, I had to park there, dog food is heavy then drive around the outer edge to hunt for a parking space for Barnes and Nobles, that walk isn't worth it. Driving in this place isn't a pleasant experience, walking it worst as the traffic is steady and faster then posted. They have signs to try to control people who don't seem to get it, that they are about to become pedestrians in a few minutes. To be honest I would have preferred a long strip like mall of old surrounded by parking, the kind indoors malls replaced. With them you could easily drive down to each store as needed as the huge parking lots surrounded them. What you get here are shops that may be close to some street parking but the majority of parking in a hike away. The wind here too can seemed funneled, down the long rows of buildings, it can be windy, rain and hot humid summers make in no fun. We only shop here out of desperation. I think the real problem this is nothing more then an outside mall, they added apartments to the load, adding to traffic, it was squeezed into an old indoor mall footprint, that was just too small. It might work on a larger plot of land. I don't know, the place just rubs me wrong and I certainly don't look forward of having to traverse it. PS, I think the parking meters are now gone. read more

I do like the PTC on nice sunny days, walk around get some sunshine, they have a nice variety of quality shops all in walking distance. There are excellent charities out there that I donate to in a heart beat and then not so great scum bucket charities that don't do what they claim. Also, when you donate you should get a receipt, even though you're probably not going to collect all the receipts from the year for taxes, you should still be offered the choice of getting a receipt. It all feels incredible fishy, so I'm going to follow my instincts and continue not to park at the PTC's parking meters. read more

The pits when the weather is bad, streets too narrow running through it, parking meters on the street, so you wind up in the big parking lots, hiking in. Stores and dining mostly over priced,$$$, it is just a mall, so standard anchors store are available, do expect to walk your legs off if the anchors are what you want to go to. A 0.5 percent shopper's fee is added/hidden on to your purchase and tax, check your receipt. Nothing like walking in the rain between these stores when that wind is blowing carrying stuff because you car is too far away. read more

I wonder about the reviews here about this place. This is a cramped outdoor mall wtth a town center name. I find it inconvenient walking outside from store to store. The main parking spaces are out away from things, the parking deck off to a funny side. Looks like the apartments have a private walkway to the upped deck, guess why it is there and not more convenient for shoppers. The street parking meters in front of the stores are not for long term, so... Not much help. No anchor type food court for cheap meal, just pricey fast food, spent all most $30 for cheesgeburg, fries, drink for two from a 1950ish hamburger joint, grease, huge calorie hit, this for a trip to the mall? There just isn't much here once the novelty of the places wears off. read more

Great mall! Love the playground for children, as well as the fountains for them to play in :) and the Barnes and noble is nice!

The meters do go to charity and if you don't have change or care to donate park in the garage or behind JCpenny's/ Barne's and Noble. There are some really nice stores there. Beach Treats is always a must go! They have all kinds of things to buy. Another place I love is Yogurt Vi...the best two places in Hampton! read more

Over priced stores, especially the franchised restaurants. Looks like they went out of their way to pack the place with them, think DC prices. Stores, mostly, the under 25 women stores, with the standard Target, JCPenney, Macy, B&N giving away that it is just a mall, with apartments, office, build over them, to pass if off as a town center. At it roots, nothing more than a high end mall. Can't see the difference between this and a standard shopping center strip mall. You just get to walk up and down three/four very small streets running down it in the weather. At least at a strip mall my car is near, and I can hop in and drive to the other end. :) Main problem is I don't and will not pop in to each store. In a mall, you can window shop, look in, see a sale, see some something. etc. These town centers just are not going to fly unless it is a tourist area, which Hampton is not. Old downtown stores were big, located near each other.. Malls created these small , small, franchised stores. It is work, to visit each one. There have been times when I would walk into a build a bear store in a mall just to look, not so here. A small game store, that I might not go into, but, pop in, and buy something I had not gone to the mall to get. Patrick Henry or Chesapeake Mall for me. There is a reason malls put downtown shopping out of business. The novelty, with the major heat this summer, has worn off for me. read more

It is only an outdoor mall, without an affordable mall food court, food here is expensive for a trip to the mall. The parks, there are 3 in total, I think, two bus stop size ones, one basically just big enough to hold a Christmas display, etc, about the same space used for public areas in an enclosed mall.. I was really set back by the hype of this place. If I were traveling and went out of my way for this place because of the hype, I would be an unhappy camper. Same old same old, except, lots of women's $$$ $150+ dress stores. You find these faux so called Town Centers all over the place. I have learned as soon as I see the words Town Center I know where not to go. For the naive at best, and oh, that 0.05 % PTC shopper's fee added on to the bill, nice one. You have to pay a tax or fee to spend money? You are paying a premium here to begin with, guess adding 0.5% more to the base price of things was just too much. Me thinks not. Need to watch out for nostalgic wax poetic hype these days.. Oh, and about $13 bucks for some fries, a single piece of Cod, a cheap fish in any ones book, ain't a great deal for lunch, oops forgot to add in the cost drink and tip. People seem confused over that fee you pay to shop here and the parking meters being an option? Hampton issued about 96 millions in bonds to pay for the roads, streets, lighting, parking deck, token parks, couple are bus stop size, etc, all of this is public property now, the stores are private. That 0.05% shoppers fee is just a drop in the bucket, 63 million from taxes go to pay off the bonds, the shopper' s fee covers the rest. Go to the PTC' s website, an unknown amount of overhead is taken from the parking meters that goes to the collector, only 100% of tickets go to charity, very carefully worded, read it well, so no it is not an option. Interesting that a private company is allowed to collect parking money if those roads are public. I don't shop there because most of the food places over priced for the area, store are mostly the ones I walk by in a mall, women's $$$. Every mall has those anchors so nothing to go out of you way, kind of a pain to walk it. Also the PTC can't force it's Community Standards on the publicly owned parts of the PTC, seems they were doing this. Some of the standards they were, might have changed, posted onthier website, no carrying of weapons, open carry is very legal in VA, no exchanging personal info, not making this up, no picture taken of buildings or PTC property, explains the well crafted pictures you see, no dogs, list goes on. An open carry group took them to task on the first issue. Given Hampton nor the PTC clearly defines the public areas I will not step foot there again. Part of the problem, this was all private when it was a mall and the effort seems to be keeping people thinking it still is. read more
