My kid couldn't hear out of one ear, has been hacking up phlegm like an old smoker for a month . The provider was kind , thoughtful, thorough ,highly intelligent and beautiful. she looked like a ballerina or an angel to me. so grateful that my kid lagged out for an extra 20 minutes and we had to find an urgent care that was open later than 8 pm - and new to us. Turned away at the door needed medical attention. We went in at 9pm (an hour before close) to an EMPTY waiting room and they told us they aren't taking any walk ins. Why have business hours if you aren't going to abide by them? When people are seeking medical attention having correct information is extremely important. Shady billing practice, rude front desk, and they never gave me my lab results. Go somewhere else. I regret visiting Peninsula Urgent Care in Torrance. What should have been a simple visit turned into months of billing harassment, zero communication, and a complete lack of respect for patient rights. Here's what happened to me, so you can avoid the same thing. First, they ordered an out‑of‑network lab without telling me. I came in for a minor concern and explicitly told the staff verbally that I only wanted treatment covered by my insurance. I had a valid traveler's insurance policy. The doctor prescribed a cream and also ordered a lab test. No one told me the lab would be sent to a third-party, Quest Diagnostics, which was out‑of‑network for my plan. I never signed a separate, informed consent for an out‑of‑network lab, as California law (AB 72) requires. My insurance denied the test because it was an excluded service. The test was excluded under my policy. That is something the urgent care could have checked before ordering it. Yet Peninsula still let Quest Diagnostics bill me directly. Also, they never gave me my test results or any records. Months later, I have never received the lab results, nor any notice from Peninsula about what the test even showed. Instead, I only got bills from Quest. Finally, the front desk was pretty unhelpful. When I called to resolve this, the woman at the front desk was dismissive and condescending. She told me the case was "too old" (it had only been a few months) and that the doctors have "nothing to do with insurance". She refused to help and told me to call the billing department. I called billing, during their posted business hours, and waited on hold for nearly an hour before the line disconnected. No one ever answered. Multiple attempts and the result was the same. They outsourced billing to Quest Diagnostics, which now threatens collections. Because Peninsula never billed my insurance correctly and never informed me of the out‑of‑network lab, Quest Diagnostics has been sending monthly "payment due" letters to an old address. They are now threatening to send the balance "I owe" to collections and hurt my credit. All of that for a test I never consented to, whose results I never saw, and which my insurance already denied as excluded. This place operates in a very dishonest way. They order unnecessary out‑of‑network tests, don't tell the patient, then let a lab hound you for payment. They hide behind a rude front desk and an unreachable billing department. They ignore California's surprise billing law and patient record laws. Of course, I'm taking this to California's DMHC. If you care about your time, your health, and your credit, do not go to Peninsula Urgent Care. There are plenty of other urgent cares in Torrance that actually respect their patients. I had to pay a visit to Urgent Care and wasn't disappointed when I made the online reservation with Peninsular Urgent Care! For anyone who doesn't know this is a very accessible experience (PCH) with ample parking and so near to other places where you can stop and walk around without feeling rushed. Actually there's a cool coffee shop right outside this Urgent care as well as a few other unique businesses which I found very attractive. My urgent care experience was very similar-- attractive from both the inside and the outside with welcoming staff-- I'd definitely recommend trying these healthcare professionals out if you're in need of a quick and relaxing visit! read more

Went to Peninsula Urgent Care for a Pre-Op Clearance as I don't have a primary doctor. What I thought would be a quick one hour appointment turned into a nightmare as I failed my EKG, then had to come back for a Chest X-Ray which was also problematic. Due to these findings I had to get my Cardiologist to clear me for the EKG which he did but meanwhile I had to find a place to get a CT Scan due to the Chest X-Ray which couldn't be scheduled until I got pre-authorization from my insurance company. Although I wish they would have helped me a bit more in finding a place to get my CT Scan done they were helpful in working with my insurance company and sending over the information to the imaging place to get my scan done. Alas, the CT Scan still had some troubling findings so now I had to go a Pulmonologist. I requested pertinent information to be sent to the Pulmonologist on a Thursday but when I went to my appointment on Monday it wasn't there. All in all it was a very stressful situation with right around 30 phone calls to Peninsula but each time they were professional and I'm sure this was triple the amount of work that would normally go into a pre-op appointment. In my opinions, this urgent care is by far the BEST I've been to so far!! *I was able to make an appointment online for the same day right away! The site is run by NP's and seems to give good care/correct diagnosis. The front desk staff were friendly. But, never did receive a call back with complete lab results (glad I didn't have anything seriously wrong). The "Billing Dept" is awful. There are no means to pay a bill (online/website) except to call the number on the Statement during their business hours. Then you have to verbally "set up" an account in order to give them your credit information. It feels like super cheap service and archaic. I guess this is what you get at walk in clinics these days - ExER where you could wait 17 hrs to be seen bc they only staff 1 treating MD a day/site; or UCLA HMO that takes, like 1 insurance. My son had been sick for a few days with a fever that wasn't breaking. Since we're new to the area, I wasn't sure where to go and quickly starting googling for urgent cares nearby. There are a few, and most didn't have the best reviews, but Peninsula Urgent Care popped up with a solid 5 star rating. I went to their website and was going to call to ask about the wait. However, I noticed that they had an appointment booking system in addition to accepting walk-ins, which was amazing considering one of the worst things about going to urgent care or the ER is the wait. I made an appointment and quickly got the two of us ready. About 20 minutes out from the appointment, I received a text reminding me to head over. They also have the option to fill out the new patient paperwork online to save time when you arrive. The space is open and clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. There's even a small corner with kid toys that my son immediately gravitated to. We were checked in pretty quickly and taken to the back to get his vitals checked. Within 20 minutes we had been seen by the nurse and doctor, and were waiting on test results which took a short 15 minutes more. Everyone was so nice and made my son very comfortable with everything they were doing. The doctor also answered all of my many questions thoroughly and put my mind at ease about my son. Peninsula Urgent Care is definitely at the top of my list of urgent cares in the area--I highly recommend this place! read more

This urgent care in Torrance is by far the best I've been to! It is extremely clean, the wait time was very reasonable, and the staff was a pleasure and extremely knowledgeable. My diagnosis was determined immediately and my medication was ready at my preferred pharmacy by the time I got there. Wow. I tried to go to an urgent care 3 minutes from my house and it was a 2 hour wait. Quick search brought me to this professional urgent care 10 minutes away. Booked an appointment 30 minutes out and did the online paperwork. I arrived to a warm welcome, quick questionnaire and was promptly in an exam room. Friendly professional staff did my vitals. The doctor arrived and after explaining everything and satisfying all my questions she had me on my way to my pharmacy. The doctor had wonderful bedside manner! My visit was perfect. Amazingly my wait at the pharmacy was longer than being seen here! So refreshing. Huge thank you for the wonderful staff for the service I received today! Friendly and competent staff. I received medical care (including stitches and bandaging) on several occasions without any wait, and the cost was very reasonable. They also accept medical insurance, which is a big plus. It's incredibly convenient--and important--to have a place like this in our neighborhood. Hospital ER visits can be long and frustrating, with no guarantee of timely or proper treatment. This clinic is a great alternative. There's also ample parking. This is the worst urgent care ever. I had my TB test here which is good. However, my physical test took forever. I wanted to have a health care provider to approve my physical test for my school. Robin NP suggested me to get a titter test and they told me the results should be back by Monday. I kept checking up on them Saturday, Sunday and now its Monday. They told me they will call me back in 30mins to 1 hour. I called them 4-5 TIMES. Kept telling me they're going to call their lab but never called me back. I was waiting for nothing. I called for a phone call consultation since the help desk are NO HELP. Finally, Sam NP was able to provide me some help. They told me my titters results will be back on WEDNESDAY. Seriously. i went there for a UTI. They were to send a specimen to the lab. In the meantime I was prescribed a medication that they sent to the wrong pharmacy. I had to track it down. The front office told me I had a copay. With my insurance I never have a copay. Five days after my visit I tried to track down the lab results and was told they lost the specimen!! The worst "urgent care" I went online and was able to make an appointment for 8pm. My daughter and I get there at 7:54pm and there's a sign on the door that says they're on lunch and will be back at 8:20pm. It was late and most urgent care clinics are closed, so we waited even with my daughter being in a lot of ear pain. 8:20 comes around and still nobody comes to the front, so I started saying hello, is anybody here? Finally a guy comes out, I say hi, I was able to make an appt, I'm not sure why the website let me if you guys were going to lunch. He says, oh. No apology. I go to the desk and all of the info I entered online is gone because I didn't check in on time. Yeah nobody was there to check me in. Then he says we're out of network with your insurance but we can still see you. He's entering all the info and says, I'm sorry it's not letting me put in your insurance because you're not in network. I followed our favorite nurse practitioner Robin to this clinic from another urgent care she worked at previously. It's a bit further from my house but she is incredibly knowledgeable and has excellent bedside manner so its worth the drive. A rare combination in many providers. I've had absolute horror stories at a few other places and I am on the more distrusting side of most medical practitioners but I've had nothing but positive experiences at Peninsula and trust in the care I receive here completely. My entire family has been treated by Robin for years and the rest of the staff at this clinic are great. I also know of two other families with small kids I've referred here that use this as their primary urgent care now. I see some reviews on here regarding billing mishaps that happened under the old office manager. I had a minor thing of my own come up but thankfully there is a new office manager Nicole that started recently that seems to be much more on top of things than the last one and she was able to get it resolved seamlessly. I called in here during work hours as I started to get an inflamed ear infection. The man on the phone told me to come here asap, there would be only a 10 min wait, I was so relieved. I called a couple places prior and couldn't go there because I was in too much pain to wait. I rushed from work to here. When I get here, there's absolutely no one here. Just him and I. I give him my insurance and ID. He verifies everything which he did over the phone prior. This is at 3:40PM As I'm finishing he says someone will be in to help me at 3:50. He left the facility. A nurse/doctor shortly walks from the back and says someone will be in to check you in. I said okay. A woman who works at the front walks in a 4PM. Guessing a shift change. They review my paperwork and I didn't fill out the next couple signatures as I was in so much pain I could barley look down because of the pressure on my ear so it's now 4:08 and they tell me I missed some places, during the time I'm finishing, another walk in comes in with already filled out forms and they take her back right away even though I had been sitting there for so long. Mind you, I'm in excruciating pain, I can barely look down to write the forms which I did tell the nurse. I'm thinking maybe someone is coming to get me. It's bad. I haven't had an ear infection in years so the pain I forgot about was indescribable and I didn't know what was happening. Now it's been an hour, and my ear is flaring up like crazy I can't even breathe it hurts so bad then. I couldn't hear out my left ear, I was having so much pain I thought I was going to pass out. I go up and ask her how long it will be because I've been waiting here for a long time and I don't understand how this is happening, it's not fair that someone walks right in due to the paperwork. She says "it's not my fault I just got in." Totally missing the point, I needed help. She gave an attitude and was hostile so I was hostile back. She could care less about what was happening, all that was important is that she didn't do anything. The receptionist had her Taco Bell on the counter and not looking me in the face once. I said it would be nice if you looked at me when I'm talking and she said she was looking up my insurance etc. , still no look because she wanted to be hostile and ignore me. So when the nurse/doctor walks out of the room with the other patient, the receptionist proceeds to tell her "she's taking it out on me", the nurse/doctor told me the protocols for having the papers filled out first. Regardless I had been waiting for so long which she knew, she's the one who told me to wait for the next receptionist, she sees I'm the only patient there for a while, she could have seen me, saw I was in pain. They not once said sorry or let me get you in here. I said I was in so much pain maybe 5 times. They were immature, unorganized and I'm not sure what they were doing at a medical office acting that way. They both didn't give me the time of day as a patient in pain was out of this world, she was failing to see the issue here. Both of them were! They don't have customer service skills or work as a team, the front desk is primarily unattended, going in and out and not even knowing what's happening with the next shift. At this point I was going to pass out due to pain. I didn't know what was happening to me but the man who left knew well that I was not OK. I came trusting my care in someone who gaslit me and acted like I was the problem. It was the craziest thing I had to experience. After a back in forth of them tell me I could leave or get care with them talking to me as if I was a child. Was my voice raised? Yes. Did I cuss, disrespect them. No! I was offended at the care I was receiving so my voice was raised. Plus I couldn't hear out my left ear and was in the worst pain I've had since I had to give child birth. I won't even get to how they treated me once I went back there. I had to ask for pain meds, the nurse said, that won't help an ear infection because it's a organ in the body not a hurt shoulder, they I got scared because I was like I'm gonna have to go to the ER I'm in TOO much pain. Went home, took ibuprofen I had to request on my own, it worked like magic. So that was untrue, I'm so mad that I'm writing this at 11:52 PM now that the pain has settled. She treated me like I could care less once I was in the room with her. These women were not qualified to be working at an urgent care for urgent care patients. I had a wonderful experience at this urgent care. I called because I sprained my finger and thought it might be brokenness. They were able to get me an appointment right away. Nicole the manager was super helpful and went above and beyond to help me figure out if they take my insurance. And they did! And the X-ray tech Diana was very gentle and double checked I was comfortable the whole time, and Robin was my nurse practitioner who followed up immediately after the X-ray and splinted my finger. I cut my hand on a piece of broken glass on a Sunday night. I went to Peninsula Urgent Care the following morning, not realizing that the window of opportunity for stitches usually expires 8 hours from the time of the injury. The wonderful doctors at Peninsula were able to stitch my hand. The Dr was so gentle and the whole experience was very positive. The office and exam rooms are clean and modern and the staff is wonderful. I paid out of pocket and it was about half the amount I expected to pay.
