We had a wonderful two-night stay at Penmerryl Farms in Greenville, Virginia. The motorcycle ride to the property was beautiful, and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. This family-owned retreat is truly special. Mom and her daughters, Lydia and Laura, were incredibly warm, accommodating, and attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast was included each morning, and they graciously prepared special meals for me to accommodate my dietary restrictions, which was greatly appreciated. I also highly recommend booking a massage with Lidia--she is absolutely fabulous! It was one of the highlights of our relaxing weekend. The cabin was comfortable, peaceful, and the perfect place to unwind. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations, and we can't give Penmerryl Farms enough stars. What a beautiful B&B farm. If you're into quiet mountain mornings, adventure biking, fishing, swimming and relaxation; this is the place to be. There is a little bit of peace to be had for everyone. It's a pet friendly b&b farm, well behaved dogs are welcomed with open arms. The hosts: Deanie, Ken, Laura and Blair are amazing. They're so warm and welcoming, full of friendly conversation and inquisitive about everyone's interests and back grounds. There is plenty of morning coffee talk and stories a plenty. It feels like extended family. This is our second stay ( we knew we had to return again after our first visit) and it was just as amazing as the first visit. I recommend this place if you're looking to disconnect from mainstream life, and media and enjoy a quiet respite. My daughter and I enjoyed walks to pet horses, dogs, and cats around the property. This is quickly becoming my home away from home. Going to Penmerryl feels like visiting family--if your family had a giant, gorgeous piece of land with a swimming pool, canoeing/kayaking, a shaded tennis court, an on-call masseuse, and a number of places with fire pits (including a secret one by the pond!) The rooms are modern and the beds are really comfortable, and Deanie and Laura's breakfast is indulgently great. Now to the farm's semi-secret identity: it also happens to be a playground for adventure motorcycling! Don't worry, it's still QUIET near the lodge and the pool area (not a lot of loud Harleys here!) but if you're interested or just getting into the sport, this is the place to be. Blair is an outstanding coach and will teach you whatever you need to know about riding off roads (and will help you properly configure your bike to boot!) and there are miles of perfect trails through the woods to explore right on the property. If you're considering your first BDR, I'd HIGHLY recommend a few days with Blair and Laura at Penmerryl first--they'll get you ready to go. (They'll also point you to the local riding trails). I have stayed at Penmerryl about...5 times?since December 2018 and love it more every time. I never have enough time to do everything so I tell myself "THIS time I'm going to play tennis." And then I lie by the pool and go on long walks and read on the porch and go to Wright's Dairy Rite for a vanilla cone and don't get around to playing tennis. Full disclosure I've known Laura (who runs the farm) for about 5 years and was jazzed when she moved back to help run her family farm and BnB. They are literally the kindest people you will ever meet. She and Blair and Chris and Pete and Deanie and all the people who help manage this enormous property are constant delights, connecting with each visitor and always taking a moment to check in with their guests when they see them, even at their busiest. You'll see that many of their guests are return customers because everyone is so danged nice and the farm is so pretty. At this point I have stayed in both cabins and a few of the lodge rooms and they're all immaculate. The breakfast is fab and plentiful and they're understanding of dietary restrictions (I, for example, am vegetarian.) Staunton is nearby for restaurants and they close down the main street on weekends so that restaurants have outdoor seating for people to socially distance. Groups often book the whole place for family holidays and Laura is trying out a vendor who offers haute campfire cuisine. I was there for the trial and it was a.mazing. Highly recommend. From a personal standpoint, I'm a runner and there are gorgeous places to run- short trails on the farm and the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge trails nearby plus rock climbing and bouldering. read more

A rustic location amidst peaceful rolling hills and curious horses. I camped during a motorcycle ADV training weekend and stayed at the lodge afterward. From the fire pit under the glorious pagoda to the pool table in the tavern room, Penmerryl is a supremely welcoming place to rest and recharge. The mattresses are more comfortable than my own and the rooms are spotless. I over-ate the hot fresh breakfast every day. They really know their motorcycles and off-road riding and it was a blast to exchange stories! The most rewarding countryside stay I've ever had. read more

I've stayed at Penmerryl several times now, using it as a stopping point on my drives between NYC and my family down south. I feel safe there when I'm traveling alone, and I love that my dog is welcome, too. I've stayed in two different rooms, and both have been very comfortable and tidy. The staff is great, everyone I've met is very friendly, helpful, and communicative. The breakfast is always delicious, and it's always fun to see what they serve each visit. In the summer when I was there, the pool was lovely, and the grounds are beautiful and have some trails. Staunton is an easy 20ish minute drive away, so I go there for dinner sometimes. I'm glad I stumbled upon it via AirBnB, and I look forward to more stays in the future. read more

We stayed here for a night before hitting the Appalachian Trail for 5 days and liked it so much we came back for another night at the end of our backpacking trip to clean up before driving back home the next day. Breakfast was amazing! It was a full house prior to Labor Day so they served it family style and the later stay was served individually. My daughter and niece loved walking through the horse barn (over 40 horses). Gamon, the owner, was awesome and it was obvious that she loves what she does. The atmosphere is very homey and laid back. Definitely a place to disconnect if you need that. For example there are walking trails around the lake, tennis court, books everywhere and a pool but no TVs in the rooms. Hubs, son, and I stayed here for 2 nights while close by for a graduation in Lexington. This place is a rustic, country GEM in the middle of the wee village of Greenville. A village. Penmerryl is a horse farm/ranch, you can board your horses; but for us it was a beautiful out of town spot to hang and relax. They have rooms and cabins surrounding a central pool area with gazebo's, firepit, and a grill. We stayed in a double queen room, equipped with basic amenities. And no TV, which was nice. There is a large house/rec room walking distance from the rooms with a large screen TV, comfy couches, and a full kitchen for cooking whathaveyou. They have a small lake, about a quarter mile walk down from the rooms, boats, paddles, and benches await for an afternoon boating/fishing. They have farm dogs that love you up, or leave you alone, whatever you want. And the owners, the OWNERS! Are priceless. Deanie and Ken, owners, and daughter Lydia are the most kind, generous, hilarious, and thoughtful people you'll ever meet. The most amazing part of our stay, and included in the price, were the huge sprawling delicious breakfasts cooked by Deanie each morning. We would sit, eat, talk, laugh, and plan our daily adventures around the tables in the common room (attached to the collection of rooms). I can't tell you how much we appreciated getting to know this family. I would so happily go back if I find myself near the Village again. read more

Stayed one night, the farm is very scenic, a family lives here FYI, but they have a few rooms in a guest house. The city is not to far, breakfast was very good and presented buffet style. Theres a pool and indoor hot tub! No complaints nothing fancy. read more

We showed our horses here this past weekend. I will definitely be back. Excellent / safe horse facility. Good stalls, wide aisles, good footing in arenas, rooms were clean and comfortable, great feel in the area, quiet. Breakfast was to die for. Grounds need some work / attention, but I love the place.
