I thought it was good, but not amazing. For my main, I got the cast iron with seared tuna and shrimp and for my two sides, I got mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. It was quite good. The portion was solid, but the blackening seasoning on the tuna was a little too salty and the shrimp wasn't too flavorful but the red chimichurri sauce helped cut the saltiness and add flavor at the same time. For dessert, my husband and I shared the cookie skillet. It was a little sweeter than I would like but still ate it all, but not sure I'd get it again.

This beautiful restaurant is located in the wintergreen resort area. I went in for dinner, and…read moredespite the website saying a reservation was required, I was seated promptly. The good? Our waitress was great, very fast, attentive, and friendly. Unfortunately, that's about all I can say. I got a fried oyster appetizer. These were good, if a little greasy. For my main, I went with a NY Strip steak with a side of mushrooms and vegetable kabob. I had asked for the steak to be rare. It was more on the side of medium well, and pushing well. I can handle that, but it was also surprisingly bland. I had to add salt and pepper just to eat it. How do you strip a steak of flavour? The mushrooms were salty, and mostly breading over cheap buttons. Chewy and bleh. The vegetable kabob was singular. Literally two mushrooms, a bit of bell pepper, and an onion, maybe six pieces. But, hey, I got my vegetable for the day, right? Also, honestly, it was not an inexpensive dinner. Even ignoring pricing, it wasn't good. Ambiance and service? Great. Food? No, thank you.

Skyland is our favorite place to stay in the Shenandoah. It's centrally located and some of the…read morerenovated motel style rooms are much nicer than they used to be. Clean enough for park lodges, firm beds and decent quality bedding. This time we stayed in a premium room with two doubles in the pinnacle building right next to the office and the restaurant so very convenient for breakfast. It's west facing so you get the sunset. Room's a good size with a closet/luggage area outside the bathroom, wood flooring, fridge, a small table with two chairs, and there are also two patio chairs outside the door (upper floor has better view on the balcony - ground floor has a grassy lawn area in front). Aircon doesn't seem to be working but room feels pretty cool with the ceiling fan on. WiFi is pretty much nonexistent - it only seems to work in the office where there is a seating area or maybe the dining room. This time also tried the closest trail - Stony Man - a short walk from the lodge. Not sure why it took us so many visit to hike on this trail - it's a short walk (just an easy 1.6 mile circuit) to the summit with fantastic view of the valley and enough space on the rock outcropping to sit on to enjoy the view.

Location and view are beautiful. The room that was advertised and confirmed upon check in as "newly…read morerefurbished" was in bad shape. A line of large black ants from the door into the bathroom threshold, spider webs and spiders behind the bathroom door, cricket and millipedes in bathroom, bars attached to tile in bathroom loose with visible mold behind them. Threadbare sheets with pilling in wear areas. Visible spaces beneath both doors allowing access to bugs. White dog fur all over mat outside of rear door with trash on patio area. Ceiling fan inoperable. Housekeeping entered, removed trash and did nothing else. Body wash was empty and not refilled or replaced in 3 night stay. Restaurant has beautiful views and great service. Breakfast was great, Dinner was inedible. Gift shop is well stocked and service there is great also. This site has so much potential, unfortunately the accommodations are poorly managed and poorly maintained. Would not recommend staying there. Visiting the restaurant for breakfast and/or the views is worthwhile. Contacted the managment with no response.
