I love Thai food, and Penn's Thai Grille makes some of the best around. I always order a chicken pad thai when trying a place for the first time. The website touts both lunch and dinner portions, and I ordered it for take out on a Sunday for lunch, however was charged the dinner price. That said, I'm pretty sure the portion was definitely the dinner size, as it was enough for two meals. But if you want a specific size, you should probably clarify. They offer spice levels 1-5. I tried level 2 and couldn't really notice anything spicy (which I wasn't too upset about). But the pad thai was absolutely delicious -- sweet and savory. My friend ordered chicken garden and I got chicken tamarind, both with a "1" mild spice rating. So good! We each received a bowl of rice and ample servings, and brought home leftovers. Glad we ordered mild because there was a bit of spice heat but it complimented each dish nicely. Also, if you don't care for bell pepper or a vegetable item on the menu, you can request they leave it out and it's fine. We came in for a late lunch on a Saturday around 3 pm. We were the only customers, and the staff working were very nice and friendly!! Our food was absolutely outstanding, both the apps and the entrees. We got Thai rolls and cream cheese crispies, both very tasty. I got the Drunken Man with chicken, she got Shrimp Pad Thai. We both agreed our meals were some of the best Thai we've had in the area, and we both could only eat about half the serving. Highly recommend, will be back!!! read more

Food is good but not consistent. The pad woon sen I got tonight was more like a stir fry. Missing snap peas and was full of veggies to the point there was barely any noodles. Penn Thai Grille We were fortunate to receive an unexpected visit yesterday from our two friends from Nepal. Both are residents of Springfield, and she works in R & D with Honda. Both are vegan, and for many years my wife has "delighted" in preparing vegan dinners. It seemed to me that Thai would be a Neat solution. We are familiar with several nearby Thai restaurants, and for this occasion, we ordered take away for the two hour dining experience in our home. We selected Penn Thai Grille; I do not care for the dining area in this restaurant; minimal ambience, and excellent service. Located in Bellbrrok in small strip mall. It was a simple matter for us to order four dinners. They specified Red Curry and Drunken Man; we both specified Drunken Woman. The difference is the noodles; no alcohol is present in preparation. I greatly enjoy a phone in order; however, we ordered on-line. Please allow 15 minutes for preparation. Always abundant parking. Great dining, company, and conversation. read more

An absolute gem of a place. The interior is nicely decorated and the staff are friendly, polite and the service was good. I got 1. Papaya Salad (4/5) which was good and a tad bit spicy. It could use some peanuts. I also got the spicy duck (5/5)- spice level 3. An absolutely amazing dish. The best duck I have had in recent times. What looked like a hole in the wall from outside (seriously they have a drive thru and I couldn't even tell if they had seating) is actually very nice! I managed to shovel them in with my fork but before I got halfway done our entrees were at the table. Good sized servings, though not giant by any means, lots of veggies, and these beautiful flower cut carrots for decoration (or eating in my case). My friend enjoyed her dish, and my own was fine. The fried duck was heavier than I wanted and the sauce was WAY too sweet. It completely overwhelmed the fresh, crispy veggies, and the taste of the duck itself. Service was very friendly and all the precautions were taken during these Covid times. Only saw one other table dining in, and many others picking up carry out. There's even a drive thru window to pick up food which stayed pretty busy. Started with an appetizer platter for two...coconut shrimp, spring rolls, cream cheese ragoon, and other tasty treats. That's where I should have stopped, cause it filled us up. I'll remember that next time. Had shrimp yellow curry for my entree. It was OK. I was out of town the first night that my wife went here. She went with her parents and liked it so much that she wanted to take me there. So off we went the other night. The restaurant was a little cold inside because they were having a problem with their heater. But the reception was so warm that we wanted to stay, even if it meant wearing our jackets for a while until the heat was working. They have your standard Thai offerings plus some specials of their own. My wife had the coconut-based soup with rice and I had Lad Na with combination meat. The portions were generous so we were both full enough but not so stuffed that we could not enjoy the mango with sticky rice. Great food with friendly service. We will be back again. read more

We started with the Satay chicken appetizer. The chicken was great and it came with two sauces - peanut butter sauce (a bit too thin) and a sugar water with onion. For the main course we tried the Seafood curry. They don't have a lunch menu available on weekends so we split this. We asked for spice level 2 out of 4 and it was good but next time I'll ask for a 3. The flavor of the red curry was excellent but I think they could add more seafood in this dish for the price. Mango sticky rice is the best in almost all of Ohio. I think they only do slush boba so I suggest opting for the Thai tea unless you want a brain freeze. The service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. I usually have questions about the spice levels and they are always very honest and give me options. Delicious food, however no matter what time of day you go in, or how many customers are there, they always seem to be rushing you out. The minute we got our food our waiter was pressuring us to pay and be done, even though we were the only people there(except for some people who came in a few minutes after we got our food) and they weren't anywhere near closing. Like I said though, the food was DELICIOUS, the fried rice is some of the best I have had. The food here was really good! I didn't care for the fried shrimp as I felt it was to much greasy breading and not enough shrimp. The sauces were delicious! The dishes seemed very sweet however I don't use much spice so I'm sure it is meant to have the sweet/spicy combo.
