Very disappointing, won't be back. My wife and I rented E bikes in Petaluma (rental cost 25 cents per minute per bike) and rode to Penngrove market; we've never been there and thought it would be a fun outing for lunch. While ordering a sandwich there was one gentleman waiting on a sandwich order so I figured it would be fast. After grabbing some chips and a drink I paid, and then waited... and waited... and waited. After 35 minutes I counted 11 additional people standing nearby waiting on orders so I asked the man who was there when I ordered, who was still waiting, how long he had been waiting... 45 minutes!!! Because we were on rental bikes and paying by the minute, I decided to ask about the wait time. I was told my order had not been started... it would be "about another 30 minutes"...that they were backed up "50" sandwiches... and that they tell everyone orders will take 30 to 45 minutes. Because they don't personally take the orders, you order on a slip of paper tossed into a basket, and there is no sign posted advising people of the wait time, the wait time advisement realistically does not exist. Given this level of business you would think more staff would be working but I saw one person making pizza and only two people towards the back making sandwiches. That said, at best, I heard four or five names called for finished sandwiches in over 35 minutes. Honestly, I felt this was beyond unreasonable and requested to cancel the order for a refund. By the time I received a refund, it was disappointing our outing adventure was a failure and I paid an extra $20 in rental fees to just stand around waiting for a sandwich that never came. Honestly, Penngrove market was a huge impact in our decision to move to this area. Back in the day it had been lots of other things including a burger joint, but this newest iteration has been such a wonderful addition to Penngrove. I feel like it's presence in the area has changed the tone of the other businesses and bringing the quality up substantially. Owned and operated by the stellar team from Petaluma Market, Penngrove market has a ton of amazing things. I have been known to pop in and wander even if I don't have anything I need, just to see what they have seasonally or new. I love their gourmet options and so much is locally sourced. In the back, you will find fresh pizza and sandwiches made for lunch time and dinner and they also do to go dinner that you can pre-order for your entire family which is great. Some of my favorite things from Penngrove market are the JM Rosen cheesecake, their awesome selection of chocolates and desserts, and the ever-changing coffee, tea and spices. For the wine and beer drinkers, they have a small but impressive selection of local and imported beverages, as well as many drinks for those looking for something refreshing and non-alcoholic. The coffee bar at the front is an excellent choice for morning pastry and hot drink, or you can bypass that entirely and go for the Strauss organic soft serve which is honestly not to be missed. The location of the store is easy to get to as long as you are coming at a time that does not coincide with school pickup, and there's lots of parking right on the street or in their parking lot. Prices are moderately high, but what you get for that price is high quality and supporting local business which works for me! read more

I stopped in to grab a coffee. I ordered cappuccino. Sign says $5.50. I asked for 1/2 & 1/2 and the clerk charged me $1.00 for what a tablespoon? What a rip off. I have ordered cappuccino's and have never been charged for asking for 1/2 & 1/2. Next time your clerks need to tell us we're up charging up a $1.00 for a splash of milk before charging. I will never go back to Penngrove Market I hope your $1.00 up charge was worth it. read more

Great sandwich and great customer service. I had one sandwich that did not have much meat. I called them up right away and the next time I went in they gave me a complimentary sandwich. I had the turkey pesto. So good and rich. I was only able to eat half and saved half for later. read more

On our recent trip to the Sonoma Valley wine region, we rented a house in the hills of Penngrove. On our way to the house, we stopped by Penngrove Market to stock up on groceries. We found everything we needed to cook our first night's dinner along with ingredients to make breakfast, snacks, beer, and wine for days. Service was great and the lady behind us in line was nice too. This is a true neighborhood market with a real sense of community, certainly a different feeling from a chain. We were lucky we happened to see Penngrove Market from the road because otherwise, we might have ended up at a more run-of-the-mill supermarket. Not that that would've been bad, but Penngrove Market is one of those proverbial gems, a locally-owned-and-operated business that we were happy to visit and support. A lot of Penngrove Market's products are sourced from nearby farms, bakeries, and purveyors. We purchased bacon, eggs, New York strip steak, cheese, potatoes, cauliflower, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, salad dressing, bread, rolls, jelly/jam, and more. Most of these items were from local suppliers. All of the meat and produce was fresh and high quality. We had colorful carrots and potatoes. The strip steak, which we cooked outside on the grill, was excellent. Everything tasted fantastic. Examples of products we bought that weren't local were Briannas salad dressing and Simply Orange orange juice, brands that I buy at home on the East Coast. The lady who checked us out could tell we were visiting from out of town. Coincidentally, she is from North Carolina like we are (she's from the Goldsboro, NC area, but moved to California when she was really young). She and another customer gave us some tips for our visit to Penngrove and the surrounding area. It was a warm welcome to the neighborhood as this market was literally our first-ever stop in Penngrove. Penngrove Market also has a kitchen with a wood-fired oven, serving up Neapolitan-style pizzas and sandwiches, plus ready-made, grab-and-go foods. They have covered and uncovered patio seating out front. And they have adequate free parking on-site. I recommend this place. read more

Somebody told me they have a woodfired pizza oven and it is true! I was tired and cranky one Sunday evening, but I stopped by to see if there really was woodfired pizza and although it wasn't a pizza of my dreams, the overall experience was so sweet! The pizza maker was as kind as could be and it's kind of amazing to see a woodfired pizza oven in not that big grocery store! Great tables outside on the patio... easy parking! Got 3 prepared salads as we arrived too late for a sandwich. The best was the Sicilian past salad - delicious ingredients that worked well together, very tasty. The other two salads were not very good. The Mediterranean pesto salad was drenched in pesto sauce and didn't see any mozzarella cheese, which is listed as the first ingredient. The curry chicken salad was flavorful but the chicken was inedible. I think they use scraps and put it into this salad, yuck. The staff member at check out was very polite and friendly. read more

I'm just not a fan. I keep trying this place because it seems like a store I'd love but I just never have a great experience here. This store has a nice old world vibe, organic fresh food, vegan and local options. Also has a touristy vibe like the places out in Healdsburg or Sonoma... Like I said earlier this seems like a place I'd love. The customer service is never great, never terrible but never great. The prices are really high. I know everyone is struggling right now especially local small businesses so I'm sure they are just trying to stay afloat but their prices seem a lot higher than other local stores like them. The deli / pizza station is slow and has very limited hours but the food is very good, fresh hardy probably local ingredients. Overall I would say try this place out for yourself. We don't really have a favorite because they are all delicious. They have smaller format wine bottles and great desserts to go as well. It's also pleasant to sit outside at the tables and eat our food hot. The chefs and cashiers are always helpful and friendly. And I can't forget to mention. I left my wallet on an outside table and it was still there one hour later when I realized I left it behind. It's a family owned and operated with very friendly and helpful staff. Penngrove Market has a bit of of everything which I liked. It's a grocery store, with a variety of wines, and a Deli. Very organized shelves. They also have wood fire pizzas which we tried and I personally like it. Thin crust. This is a local business. I like that they have a nice size patio right outside to sit and eat and enjoyed the entertainment on Friday afternoons. Located at 10070 Main St and open Monday- Friday 7:30-9pm, Saturday 8-9pm and Sunday's 8-8pm Definitely it's a place you can hang out in the afternoon.
