The PA Convention opened in 1996. Since that date, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) has hosted the annual Philly Flower Show, except during COVID-19, in 2020 and 2021, when it was held outside at FDR Park. The annual Philly Flower Show is the oldest and largest flower show in the United States. The theme this year is "Rooted Origins of American Gardening." I attended the PHS members-only viewing on Friday, Feb 27. There's always lots to see and do at the annual flower show, of course, the original fresh-bloom exhibits, the make-and-take Artisan Row crafts, shopping, activities for adults and children, as well as lectures by gardening experts. Located in downtown Philadelphia, the convention center is a venue space that can accommodate several type of events. One section includes an area with a showroom space, conference seating area with stage, several meeting rooms and restrooms on all floors. The other section are multiple rooms of various sizes spread over 2 floors. Both spaces include elevators, escalators, carpeting in meeting room area and concrete in exhibition area. I thought it was pretty nice to attend. A few months ago, WWE World was here in April for Wrestlemania weekend. It was an amazing experience just to Interact with some wrestlers like Indi Hartwell, Nikki Cross, Xavier Woods, Shana Baszler, Natalya, and Kairi Sane and Nia Jax. Some wrestlers you could meet for just an autograph session and others were there for a picture opportunity with your regular entrance fee. Also, there were panels during the day to see, my friend and I probably stayed here at least 6 hours and I did get to take a picture with Nikki Cross and members of Chase U from NXT. Unfortunately, Did not make it to actual Wrestlemania but I did get to hang out and just live it up with many wrestling fans. Overall, a nice space and it was just pretty crowded. Glad I got to come here in April 2024, it was right across from Reading Terminal Market, where I also happened to run into some other wrestlers and announcers as well. read more

Amazing venue! I was here for the NBMBAA conference and I have to say, this is in my top 3 of conference venues. Very clean, most of the facility amenities worked and staff were available to assist as needed. I stayed blocks away and was able to walk in just a few minutes so I was never late to any event. I've been to this convention center two times, both for a music festival. I'll start by saying it's pretty big! From the outside looking in, they have a cool screen that shows what's going on that day/week. They also have several entry and exit points. Inside it's nice, clean and I appreciate the escalators along with the stairs to get to the second floor. There's plenty of seating in the common areas which is much appreciated. I will share that the bathrooms could be better but I like that they have a family bathroom. Both times the stage was huge but the giant pillars scattered throughout did block the view. Overall, it's a great space for large events in Philly. read more

[1078] 1/2020 This Convention Center is located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. There are plenty of paid lots but we usually take the regional rail which leaves us in the building (so no going outside). The place is huge and renovated/updated/expanded a few years ago. They can have multiple functions going on and you don't even feel crowded. The Reading Terminal Market is across the street so you can easily grab a bite to eat. My only gripe is that there are no real food options in the large conference area. There is an overpriced (I mean real overpriced) snack bar that makes you want to stay hungry. I'll definitely be back to this beautiful and clean location. read more

Just like the other reviews; the Pennsylvania Convention Center is huge! Its bascially a building that is used to host different events throughout the years such as the auto and flower show. The bathrooms are pretty clean and they have a large auditorium for creative performances. I visited the PA convention center for their African American Showcase and boy did I see some good stuff such as black inventers and scientist. They even had George Washington Carver actual peanut butter jar. They also talked about George Crum who invented potato chips. Interesting right! I also met a cool young black girl who lived in 5 continents! The event also featured black art, music, sports , authors, historical black colleges and many more. Overall lots of goodies, giveaways and friendly people were at the Pennsylvania Convention Center! read more

Great convention center but seems pretty huge. This was my first time Philadelphia and perhaps, my third time in a convention center. I visited in October for the Food and Nutrition Convention and Expo. It was my second time attending this awesome event and at this point, I had a little to compare it to. Philly's convention center is about a 10-minute walk from the bus station and also, located within walking distance of a number of hotels and local eateries. Pros: - Huge space! Each floor has a host of space from large to small sized rooms which hold a great capacity of people. The showroom was also massive and lit well. - Bathrooms were clean and well equipped. - Staff were courteous and helpful, always available. Cons: - The massive size does cause some confusion however, the staff were extremely knowledgeable. It felt as if they had memorized that building from the back of their hand. The distance between seminars was brutal though. It took what seemed like forever to walk from one end to the next. Moreover, the convention center consists of multiple buildings so, there were times I had to walk outside, then across the street to get to another seminar. It would be great if they had an accompanying indoor bridge of some sort to connect the buildings. - The area around the convention center is a little shady. There were a lot of homeless people on the street, but that wasn't the issue. The issue was being in a restaurant or cafe and the homeless people aggressively begging for money or food. Very uncomfortable. Overall, I'd definitely return and I recommend to others. Its a great space to hold or attend an event. read more

What a massive place, I was there for a tech conference and the lack of reliable internet was both frustrating and ridiculous. The restrooms are pretty numerous but many have only one or two stalls. However, there is a train stop literally right in the bottom of it that's a bonus. read more

Packet pick up is located here for a race that draws in 30 to 40 thousand people and yet, the limited parking that you already have is even more limited by closing off available parking spaces. 2 freaking blocks worth ! Then you have PPA going around ticketing people like mad... even though folks have their hazards on and are only running in to the convention center to grab their packet (5-7min process if that) It's so wrong. I like the convention center. it's easy to navigate and I enjoy the running expo's that are held here ... I also dig the car shows. I just dislike the nonsense it takes to actually make it in there. From this point on, I'm paying to have race packets mailed home. It's not worth the hassle with the oppression. read more

Wow the stench around some of the corners of the convention center really kicks you in the face. It is a huge place with plenty of show rooms. Had a conference here which sufficed for all of the events but man the stench is still here in my nostrils, thinking back to it. The layout itself is very easy to navigate and very hard to get lost. It is located nicely close to city hall and walking distances to china town and other good foods and drinks. read more

One of my favorite convention centers. This facility is designed to cater to a large number of visitors. It is located at a walkable distance from some of Philadelphia's most popular destinations. There is several places to enjoy a good meal all around with the reading market located right across the street. There are also plenty of affordable lodging options nearby with the airport a 15 min ride away. read more

This place is HUGE. I have visited over the years for conventions, corporate events, the Flower Show, and Food and Wine festivals -- each event taking up a different area or footprint. The venue is always decorated beautifully, and I've never had trouble finding signage and/or someone to ask for directions to an event. During the Flower Show and Food & Wine, you can pretty much just follow the huge crowds of people, but the employees here will gladly point you in the right direction. Bathrooms can be hit or miss, and the larger the crowd, the worse it gets, of course, but it's still likely to be cleaner than any restrooms you'll find in the area. Although parking can sometimes be a hassle, getting the Convention Center is a piece of cake, and it is a quick walk to the Reading Terminal Market, where you'll find all sorts of wonderful eats and drinks in case the event you're attending doesn't offer food/drink (which I've found to be rare). read more

Ballpark prices for Pepsi and waters. Bring your bottle and save the money. You better not ask workers questions or they mark your exhibit go slow. 2 hour wait for display box for return. Annual Auto Show... check! Annual Flower Show... check! Easy access from public transportation... check! Enough. The Pennsylvania Convention Center serves the city of Philadelphia well. It brings in tons of annual events (yes, I only highlighted two) and suitability serves for many others (for example, the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and Philly Marathon Packet Pick-Up). Following the expansion, I've never felt "packed in" for any event. Its kept clean and well lit. Check it out if you're in town! read more

Went to the Pennsylvania Convention Center to see the auto show and it was a blast. Its nice to see whats out there from all of the automobile makers that presented there. Its was also very nice seeing the cars of your dreams. The Convention Center is vast and there was something to see everywhere. We were all impressed by how the staff were very helpful and courteous. We will come back again. But urge anyone coming to convention center for food or drinks look to pay up word to about $5 for hotdog and $3.50 for water. Better off walking across the street to the reading terminal and getting some of the best fresh food in the city. Or walk down the street to China Town for something to eat. And for parking convention center itself charges more so urge to look esle were. read more

Central, many outside dining options BUT hard to navigate, have to exit one building to get to the next - except this is my second time in 5 y so I could navigate on second floor in places. Exhibit halls are large and configuration can change. Food catering slightly better but not great. Spread out over large area. Room numbering sort of logical except prior mentioned need to change buildings. You will definitely get your steps in! read more

Over the years, I've attended several trade shows and exhibits at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It's easy to reach via PATCO if you are good with walking a few blocks (exit at 8th and Market, look for the helpful street corner signs with arrows telling you which way to go). The rooms are clean, large and well lit and the temperatures are comfortable inside (nothing worse than going to an exhibit where it's either freezing or roasting inside). Staff, for the most part, seem to be welcoming and helpful. I do think it would be helpful to have easy to find recycling bins where people can drop off used maps and brochures after finishing up. As always with any major venue, there always seems to be huge lines for the women's bathrooms. When will the world recognize that unisex bathroom stalls make the most sense?! Could ya throw a few of those stalls around? read more

Every March the Convention Center has an annual Flower Show and while there isn't much to say about the convention center itself, my review is mainly about the Flower Show event, I will say that the venue is a great location next to the Reading Terminal (great food) and other restaurants. Last year my friend and I drove in and the parking was mayhem to say the least, this year my mom and I got dropped off by the wonderful boyfriend. It was the best decision we could have made. The flower show itself is overrated. Don't get me wrong the flowers are gorgeous, the artists are so creative with their trade and it's a great mother-daughter bonding event BUT it is ALWAYS crowded and people are often ruthless to see tulips, roses and daffodils. What the hell is in the flowers that makes people elbow another person in the head or walk in front of another to take a photo is beyond me. Luckily, there is a alcohol vendor in 2 locations to take the edge off AND a good size wine tasting. Another reason the flower show is so-so is that it seems like there really aren't more than 6 main headlining artists. Majority of the space is rented out by vendors who are selling things that you could buy at either Home Depot, a garden store, Target or Wegmans. I especially want to point out that I paid $4.75 for a hot dog AND to make matters worse, I clumsily dropped it on the ground. BAH! Oh well. read more

The Convention Center here in Phili is the home every year to the Trans Wellness Conference. Though, it seems like an older building, I have appreciated how accommodating they have been to the umbrella trans community. For this conference, they have removed all of there gendered restroom signs and replaced them with al gender signs to make their bathrooms more inclusive. The staff is also keeping the building very secure, consistently checking badges of every individual who walks in. It's clean, they are working hard to accommodate the unique needs of the community and it's great! read more

I came for Wizard World 2014. The venue was great. There was a huge line to get in but it went quickly. I went with no advance tickets and while I might have paid more, there was absolutely no line to get in. I think $60 was a little steep considering that you can hardly so anything in there without being gouged but I knew what I was getting into. Here are some observations about Wizard World (and probably all conventions in general) - I wasn't sure where the main entrance was for the convention center but I needn't have worried, I just followed the nerds. - they've got quite the scam going. Stars such as Norman Reedus and Whoopie Goldberg were asking $100- $150 for pic or autograph. Sorry, no one is worth that. Except that 300+ were waiting in huge lines to pay that. Unreal. -as an actor, you really need to consider taking a sci-fi role because you are going to have to deal with this convention shit for the rest of your life. A blessing and a curse, I suppose but I felt less sorry for them when I crunched the numbers and figured out how much they were making for this. - is there anything sadder than a B actor past his/prime waiting for 1 person to come and sign an autograph or take a picture? Sorry Brian "Revenge of the Nerds" Tochi, I really wanted to help you out but even $20 is too steep. I didn't feel THAT sorry. - the only thing free there worth mentioning was people watching all the cool Cosplay although you can do that outside the venue. - I believe the motto here is, "A nerd and his money are easily parted". Stuff was really expensive. I was eying up a light up light saber until I saw it costed $300. - finally, you'd think nerds would have a better sense of humor but many were annoyed when I tried to crash their Avengers Cosplay pics as "Captain Phillips" read more

After attending the "Black Tie Tailgate" I knew I had to write something about Pennsylvania Convention Center. I've been there at least 50 times since I moved to Philly and here is some of my highlights of the center. TJUH commencement : I can still vividly recall my commencement Ceremony being held at the Ballroom of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Ballroom! That was my very first visit on May 2010! What a divine and beautiful event, where I and other graduates celebrated our success and cherished our memories. Black Tie Tailgate: A black-tie preview of the Philadelphia Auto that benefits The Division of Neonatology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Show In a moving cocktail party, where all attendees were asked to dress to impress, signature dishes created by Iron Chef Jose Garces were located perfectly in stations throughout the event as well as many open bars. At the Grand Hall specifically between the Mercedes-Benz and Lexus display, we were dancing to the sounds of Jellyroll. The planing and organization of the finest automobiles in the world was truly outstanding. Flower show: It is a philadelphia tradition to hold the world's longest-running and largest indoor Flower Show. It present an extraordinary floral art every year! Enough said! Few facts about Pennsylvania Convention Center: 1/ PCC is one of the largest convention centers in the country with lots of rooms and wifi user-friendly. 2/ Easy access to the center since its linked to Jefferson regional rail station. 3/ Endless mouthwatering food everywhere and tons of hotels & parking lots close by. 4/ PCC is uniquely located right in the heart of the city of Philadelphia. 5/ Many shows, expos, competitions, meeting/ conferences and conventions are held there. In a lot of ways I like the Convention Center. It's definitely useful for bringing a lot of things and business into Philadelphia that otherwise might not come here. and I'm definitely not going to argue about anything that has bought in some great boat shows, flower shows, comic conventions, card game pre-releases and then some. But on the other hand I find the new construction for a Convention Center add on that's going on at 13th and Arch (and a bit beyond) to be more than a little excessive. Even when I go to the Convention Center for events that are pretty packed I tend to find that there are more than enough rooms that are perfectly vacant. So wiping out an entire City block in favor of more room, when they could just figure out how to bring in more to what they already have seems beyond ridiculous too me. Especially when that block had great things like Vox Populi. read more

I was here for the Pennsylvania Conference for Women. We were told there were 7,000 women there which meant long bathroom lines right? Wrong! They closed the men's bathroom for the women. Haha I saw a guy waiting outside one of the bathrooms waiting for all the women to come out so he could go in. For 7,000 people and many speakers, it was very organized and clean. This is one of the easiest "big city" convention centers to get to anywhere. There is ample parking around the center. Most of it will be 20-30 bucks for the day. The convention center is clean with a solid staff constantly at work. The staff is helpful. The location is great as you are right on the edge of Chinatown. Great food and smells in this area. The Reading Terminal Market is nearby as well. I have been here for Wizard World comic con two years in a row. I will be back for a third as they really make it a wonderful experience. The only gripe is that the convention center layout is a little odd and sometimes the events are hard to get to once you leave the convention floor. That said, once you get the hang of it, all's good. I love the sights and sounds of Philly and this was just one more positive about the city. read more

Recently attended the Wizard World Comic Con at the convention center. Finding the correct entrance was a task. There needed to be more signage. I went through the attached hotel and had to walk all the way back around. Not fun with a stroller and anxious 4 year old. Outside of that the building was huge and had a lot of rest rooms. A quick train ride from the airport (R1), and connected to the Blue and Green subway/trolley lines, bus, and taxis, the Convention Center is surrounded by hotels, bordered by Center City Philadelphia, close to the Avenue of Arts, City Hall, and Chinatown. Inside, multiple galleries and long halls provide plenty of space for the conventions that pass through, from the lovely flower show to the auto show. Flexible spaces and big spaces along multiple entryways result in interesting displays and plenty of space to wander around. While there's not much in the way of built-in seating (dependent on the venue and event moving through), there's plenty of parking and you can come in and out easily enough if you need a break. I'm not sure why if they are building a new one over at 13th and Arch is the need... maybe connect the two for a super-massive site, or perhaps something just better built? I particularly like one entryway from the 13th Street entrance, going up several escalators and opening up in a very airy entryway where a guard didn't let us much further since there wasn't an event ongoing at the time. Stairs, and an open skylight with some twisted metal blue and silver art adorned the space. read more
