They celebrated 50 years, but it looked like many things were from that first year. When I left the Philadelphia area after 8 years, the price of that same trip was just under $12, and they had some construction happening. I took a similar trip in 2006, and the price rise was unexpected and now, this week, it was almost $22. I can commend them for actually making some improvements on the road, finishing some construction after 16 years, and re-building service plazas. The poor fuel cashiers don't have to sit out in the freezing cold or blazing heat at most plazas I visited. However, I wonder how much the Union is getting out of it--too much, I think. I remember a woman at the Norristown exit who pocketed a few of my $5 bills when I gave her a $10 bill. They really don't need that, do they? Union members always make too much money anyway. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful travelling so far on the Turnpike but they need to fix the prices to better reflect everyone using it, not just the people working it.

They try - there are rest stops every 20-30 miles or so, but damn - so boring! Also - if you're going under 90 - you're gunna get run over. We thought that a ride on the trolley tour sounded like a good way to start the day and see all of the various Hershey Chocolate-related sites around town. Tickets can be purchased right inside Hershey's Chocolate World. The employee behind the counter informed me that the Historical Trolley Tour is about 70 minutes, but that the Summer Family Trolley Tour lasts 45 minutes and is more family-oriented. We decided to opt for the latter and we were glad that we did. Some of the sites we saw from the confines of the trolley bus included the original historic Hershey Factory (converted to corporate offices in 2015), Milton Hershey's birthplace, Highpoint Mansion (historic home of Milton and Catherine Hershey), Hersheypark, and the iconic Hershey Kiss-shaped streetlights on Chocolate Avenue. Our conductors/actors were wonderful and entertaining! Throughout the tour, attendees were given samples of Hershey Kisses, fun size Hershey Bars, and fun size Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Our sons both loved the tour and never complained about being bored. For any families looking to visit Hershey, we recommend starting your visit with a Hershey Trolley Works tour!

There was even room in the back for all the décor and garments that needed to go to our wedding venue. Tracy was our driver and she was AWESOME! She helped us load and upload. She was personable and funny. She wasn't stressed that we left the venue a little later than scheduled (Or if she was she didn't show it). Tracy even asked if we would like to stop at sheetz or McDonalds on the way back to our hotel. There was a tight squeeze at the first drop off hotel because someone else was parked like a jerk and Tracy handled it like a BOSS. We even cheered her on! Never enter into a verbal agreement with Unique Limousine Service in Lancaster, PA. They quoted one…read moreprice and charged more than we agreed upon. When we called them on the overcharge the woman claimed i talked to someone else and that person was gone for the day and she could not give me a set price. I told her I had not authorized a charge that large and if she didn't charge me the agreed upon amount to cancel and refund my money. She said fine, but kept my money anyway. I am currently attempting to get my money back through the credit card company, they say it doesn't look good, limo services do this all the time. We were unable to attend the rehearsal dinner because we couldn't afford an amount more than we agreed upon. Beware!!!!! Apparently Limo services get away with this all the time. They don't tell you on the phone that once they've got your credit card number you essentially have given them whatever deposit they choose to pay themselves and unless you have something in writing from them with the agreed upon set amount, you are screwed, because the deposit they neglect to mention they are paying themselves is also non-refundable. They asked me for an email address and i told them i wasn't near a computer so i wouldn't receive it, but she insisted in case they needed to reach me later about anything. So i provided an email address which they apparently sent the cancellation and refund policy to knowing I would not be able to receive an e-mail until the following week. When i requested the service be cancelled because they voided the contract for service by charging an amount i did not agree to, they should have told me then they had no intention on refunding me my money. Instead she said fine when i said cancel and refund my money. If they had told us they would not refund our money, we would have used the service anyway rather than give them our hard earned money. I don't have money to give away, i don't know about any of you. But $244.00 is a lot of money for someone to receive without providing any service. And the service was cancelled hours before the driver would have dispatched, and within 5 minutes of the charge. These people were taking advantage of the fact that we desperately were attempting to get to the rehearsal dinner, and they thought we'd just roll over and pay whatever. Well, we didn't have the extra money to have an open ended charge so we missed the rehearsal dinner and my husband had a prominent role at the dinner. We were they only family of the groom to come from out of town and he was devastated we were unable to attend the rehearsal dinner, and very disappointed with Unique Limo because his friends at the hotel referred them. We've also told the hotel to take them off their referral list.

After breakfast, Steve will let your children take part in feeding (and walking) the young, hazelnut-loving goats and healthy chickens, and even taking a tractor ride around the well-landscaped, rolling hills of the property. The house is extremely clean, well-appointed and welcoming. Say "Hi" to the adorable young steer "Calvin" in the front pasture too! A gem of a place run by an excellent couple.

After seeing the location description, OF COURSE I checked Yelp. Here is the short of it: Carol and her husband are wonderful hosts and their home and surrounding land are very, very well maintained. There are animals in penned areas on their 5 acres, their house is pretty traditional décor and with its additions, rather modern(ish). This is their home and not specifically a "working farm" like Verdant View or like an Amish stay - which we loved because we were happy to have nice accommodations without overwhelming fragrances and allergic reactions to hay (we found out on this trip that one of us is VERY allergic and big baby about it). Lots of views to take in and things for kids to do during the morning. The long of it: The house sits on top of a hill overlooking hills in the back and farms in the foreground past the new subdivision. The driveway to their house is lined with trees (very picturesque). The home is spacious and a shoe-free site. You can put your shoes on the trays outside on the porch (complete with gliders and chairs with views to the tree swing (cute) and play structure (Super tall slide and swings) and a tether ball area. The farm-ish part: They have a horse to ride (Lilah). My daughter LOVED this part the best and was obsessed with the horse for the remainder of the trip. They also have goats to walk and feed, 1 sheep, chicken coop with lots of hens to collect eggs and feed, and kittens to hold were some of the penned animals here. The produce being grown on their 5 acres was fun to pick (my daughter went crazy on their raspberries - well, as much as a 2 year old can, at least) We were expecting to have a farm stay, and although the house is located on 5 acres with animals and produce gardens/fields, it is really more like staying in a nice house that is more on the contemporary side. We stayed in the Kwanzan Room (aka like the Cherry Blossom tree that has tons of puffy pink blooms). This room was perfect for what we needed - we had 2 rooms and a shared bathroom between those two. One room had a king bed and a Pack 'N Play in the closet and the other had a queen with a bunk (my son was so thrilled, he ended up wanting to stay on the top). The bathroom had plenty of towels and Carol refilled the disposable cup holder and took out the trash during the day while we were out - nice and surprising touch). The sheets were super soft and the beds were comfortable - no complaints here. My daughter leaned backwards (hard) towards the door - so she kind of fell into the door when she learned hard and the stop wasn't strong enough to stop her from pushing the lock into the wall making a small dent. Carol was forgiving and surprised that my daughter could do that, but my son can attest to how strong that little squirt is. The Kwanzan rooms did not share a wall with other rooms so it was nice not to share noises. There were 2 other families with little ones that weekend... so it was nice to see that the noise didn't travel far. We didn't go out on the back deck, but we wish we had.. the views were beautiful from there. We were parched from our long ride without potty-breaks, but we didn't an area where water was easily accessible (not that we asked either), but I am sure Carol would have given us some had we asked - she is kind of the wonderful host that way. The coffee-addicts that we are, we were snooping around for coffee again around 11 and it was put away, but Carol quickly gave us new mugs and did that wonderful host thing she did (she probably was not expecting people completely fueled by caffeine - lol) The breakfast: Carol can make some amazing things. Breakfast 1: Scrambled eggs (good), French Toast (yum), Fresh raspberries from garden (amazing, of course), tomatoes with lite Italian dressing and parm (my son only wanted plain tomatoes - it could have worked either way.. the tomatoes were sweet), baked oatmeal (really good), sausage (i forget which brand this is, but it tasted like the one that is precooked and vacuum sealed in rows - easy for quick cooking, but causes that rubbery feel... I used this for a party once and for a way to do a quick breakfast. It is not the best tasting sausage, but certainly not terrible. OJ & water on the table and coffee in the kitchen. Breakfast 2: This was my favorite - Egg frittata with cheese, green beans (individually halved= tons of work and probably garden fresh.. amazing), apple crisp (this is the best one I've tasted in a long time), Tomatoes (again with dressing and cheese - good), chocolate chip pancake and blueberry cake, BACON - this disappeared so fast, but Carol had a new plate right away. It was all delicious.. That Apple Crisp is something I still dream about.
