We came in with a pretty large party so we were understanding that it would be slower for the food to come out. Our server was super kind and attentive, but some of our group just ordered off of the QR code as the front door sign says, and we simply didn't get our food, when we asked the server about our order after waiting 20 minutes he went to talk to the cook and the cook got visibly upset saying that he had already sent the food out. We had just ordered a Penny's Burger with an extra patty and vegetables, instead of asking the server walked away and just brought out a plain patty with a bun, a member of our party then went up to the front counter to simply ask for vegetables, ignoring the fact that we had paid for the extra patty aswell, he attempted to get anyone's attention for five or so minutes as was blatantly ignored. I'm understand to the fact that as a large group of young people we are typically not expected to be tipping and thus receive worse service, but we were attempting to be as respectful as possible, and just wanted the food that we paid for to come out (which the extra patty and such never did, and so we had just left). Not to mention it had taken a total of 45 minutes to an hour for six orders to come out. Guy runs out of the place and tells us they won't be ready for another 30-40 min???? If your 24 hours why would u need to get ready? Also turn your damn open sign off and shut your friggin door.... We came into Penny's tonight (Sunday night/Monday morning) around 12:45am from an emergency room visit. The employee working had 1 table of 2 people. When we walked in he was cooking their food. We sat at our table (party of 3) and was never greated. At about 1am he ventured off to the bathroom and was in there about 20-25 minutes. The other guest that was here was serving herself (getting mayo, filling her drinks, etc.). She said if he doesnt come back out she would cook it for us. When he did come out he grabbed his pad and stood our table. He had the "if looks could kill" expression on his face. Not a word, like what can I get you, what would you like to drink. Nothing. So we gave him our order. That was about 1:17am. At 1:26, he still had not started our order. Food finally came out at 1:54. I was missing my toast for my chicken fried steak and eggs and my son was missing the egg on his overcooked burger. My boyfriend was missing his cheese and his green peppers /onions were still cold. We did not make a fuss since it took this long to get waited on. He then disappeared outside and left us alone and reappeared about 10 minutes later. This is by far the worst customer service I have experienced here. Its sad to know this is the only 24-hour restaurant close to us. Would have spent $57.00 elsewhere and had better service. read more

How can you go wrong with a diner! Simple food a kid could make. I ordered a Cowboy, simple hamburger with chili and fries. Came with tots. It went back and was 'reworked'. Next time the meet was so hard you could not cut it PERIOD! I dug at it for a couple bites, turned it over to find it burn more than 1/2 way through. The chili was from a can, Hormel but even worse and cold. My wife got a something sandwich (this was a month ago traveling through on a trip). Cold and just gross. The waitress was trying to please everyone. Those with breakfast (late afternoon) seemed to have 'something' eatable. Not us. She was trying to help the cook do his job and they were at high tension of each other. We drove 5025 miles to New England and ate at many no name small places. I'm 81 and pretty tolerant of people trying to make it work but there was no effort here. I went to the counter and told the waitress, she took my meal off the ticket but charged full for my wife's meal that she did not eat. We talk about how bad Penny's Diner was. We've had bad experiences here before but since there's really no nice places to eat in Marysville we decided to give it another try. We call it the Outhouse because they always run out of basic items despite a Walmart right down the road. Oh and no menus. After 2020 you have to scan a QR code. I can handle that but I'm sure others would appreciate a menu to read. Today we ordered and waited and waited. The table next to us with customers that came in after us got their food while we waited. We heard the cook tell the waitress she didn't have a ticket for table #9. Yep, our table. Apologies given to us and she started cooking. I ordered a turkey Reuben which was the special. Pretty soon the waitress came back and told us they were out of Swiss cheese. Big surprise. They subbed American. We overheard the cook tell the waitress to apologize to us and offer us something (inaudible). Nope. My husband paid. No apology. Nothing. We'll not be back. Ok folks this is small town middle America, let's remember it's a "Diner" not a five star. That being said if your not a patient person then it's probably not for you keep on driving. Only one cool one waitress or waiter, they do the best they can with what they have, the cook is good and gets your order cooked the way you order it. Sometimes the wait staff gets overwhelmed, but again it's a "Diner". Food was good and done they way we liked it, friendly service from the staff, friendly middle American town where everyone waves at everyone. Traveled to this town for work. Always enjoy stopping at locally owned and non chain restaurants when I travel. In this case I should have went to sonic. The waitress was yelling and insulting the cook within earshot of the customers (all 5 of us). The food was below average and it's hard to mess up hamburgers and tater tots. The floor was filthy under our booth had I noticed it before ordering, we would have left. They had a list of items they were out of that was a mile long and the only ice cream they had was mint. I mean come on!!! A old fashion diner with no ice cream. Even if we forgive the items they were out of due to possible supply chain issues an old diner could easily get ice cream from a grocery store until their truck comes in. My guess is when the dinner rush is 5 customers that pretty clean locals have given up on this establishment. This is a hard pass from me!! read more

We have often talked about stopping. When we did we were sadly dissatisfied. We had time, but this was ridiculous. We ordered our drinks, milkshakes after waiting 15 mins. We didn't get straws with our drinks and the glasses were a mess. After asking for straws it took him another ten minutes to bring them to us. We finished our drinks and still hadn't put in our food order. It was not busy in the place. If it had been we would have understood the delay. The young man just kept saying he was sorry and talking. We finished our shakes and decided not to order food. Besides he wasn't interested in taking our order. This was an hour. Yes, one hour for two milkshakes and they were not very good anyway. I can't imagine how long it would have been to wait for our food!!!! The place was very dirty. It made me laugh to read all the negative reviews. First of all people it's a diner, not a 5 star restaurant. Second of all consider what time of day you go in to eat when you complain about wait times. Third of all, everyone just needs to relax I stopped in tonight and grabbed a burger and a shake. The guy who was the only one working was super friendly and very fast. I think from the time we ordered to getting our food was less than 15 minutes. While there are some cons like being out of ranch (my favorite dressing I eat with everything) or forgetting my egg on my burger the place was overall great. The guy was very nice an apologetic, even gave me a free chocolate shake for my travels. Being in a semi is hard to find good food and a place to park, I would go back if I come back through this town. read more

The first thing this diner needs is a cook! The food was totally nasty. I had a hot turkey with mashed potatoes and corn for the veggie. The damned sandwich was put on toast that was as hard as croutons and covered with a brown grave that was so salty you couldn't eat much of it if any. The potatoes were fresh right out of the microwave as was the frozen corn. The corn was the best part of the meal. Folks dont waste your time or money in this place. This is not my first time visiting this place. I actually had stopped through here two years ago. And because I live so far away it's one of those places that I don't get to go to hardly at all so when I do go I expect to really have a good time. The first time I went two years ago the place was clean. there was an old man that was very friendly who took my order and made me feel very comfortable he even allowed me to take pictures. Fast forward to today. The minute I walked in it looked more run-down than it did before. There was an odor in the building that smells like sewer backup. There was only one family that was eating in there and they were staring at me like I had the plague. When I came to the counter there was a biracial teenager and a white girl working the counter. All I wanted was simple ice cream I did not want a Sundae or anything like that. When I ordered a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream the two of them could not figure out what to charge me. I stood there perplexed as I watched the two of them talking amongst each other trying to figure out what they were going to charge me for a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream. After a few minutes of bantering back and forth, the white girl says I'll charge you $1.62 for it. I said okay. As I waited for my scoop of ice cream I couldn't help but notice where the scoop of ice cream was coming from. The biracial boy was back in the kitchen and I saw him grab a regular box of Walmart great value ice cream and scoop ice cream out of it. I stood there with my mouth hanging. this is supposed to be a diner you would think that they would have their own signature ice cream not using Walmart ice cream and charging you money for ice cream bought in a regular store. I paid the $1.62 and left and made a very big promise to myself that no matter how hungry I get when I'm on that road Penny's Diner is an no diner. read more

Horrible place. NO service.... "Homemade" pie was out of the freezer section and not so good - for $3.29!!!!! Coffee had to be a week old...Had a terrible time paying and getting out of there. We were the only 2 customers in there and counted 4 "employees"....... no ticket... Finally went up and stood at the counter by the cash register - where the 4 employees were and were ignored..... Moved over smack in front of the gal at the register and she said she was counting her drawer and was short so it would "be a minute"..... We were trying to figure out what we owed so we could just leave it and get out of there, but had trouble figuring the cost of the coffee... I finally suggested our money wasn't that important so we should just forget a bad experience and leave..... They finally decided to pay attention, figure a bill and take our money......
