We sold our house through another agent and started experiencing unusual challenges about 10 days into the process. Reports of the buyer's agent (Sherry Grimes) being rude and abrasive with our contractors. For instance, as the seller we paid for a pre inspection. We repaired all major issues that came up. Our inspector offered a complimentary 15 minute telephone conference with the buyer if wanted. Sherry demanded that the inspector come out for a walk through. When told of the charge she told hime that "she wasn't paying for a damn thing." Additionally she demanded that the inspector be present at a specific time and date - even though he was booked and was only given two days notice. Her reasoning for this is that it was prearranged with all four parties - except that it wasn't arranged with us or our agent (who was out of town.) During escrow she sent an email saying that our request for a specific closing date left her client feeling hijacked and was of no benefit to him. The email was very confusing as the buyer sat at our dining room table and chose a closing date with us that would benefit us both mutually. Her client was later scolded for meeting us - we invited him to meet the neighbors of our very tight knit community. He later instructed her as to a closing date. Two days later she sent out this untrue email. It was laughable as we all knew the genesis of the decision. These untruths caused tension and stress with our agent because until this moment we did not know where all of the miscommunication and untruths were coming from. The irreparable damage it caused to our relationship is inexcusable. There was no need for any of this in a completely transparent transaction. Two weeks after this transaction finally closed, we received a mass marketed postcard in the mail of our former home. It was sent from Sherry Grimes at Windemere. It read that she SOLD the home and it was a solicitation for more listings in the area. When does a mischaracterization become a lie? She represented the buyer - yes. She did not SELL that house. I did talk to the managing broker. Poulsbo is too small of a town for this behavior. As the buyer's agent, she did have the job of working for her client. While she may have thought her actions were in his best interests, her actions were bizarre and caused damage - in addition to costing us additional money. As the seller we paid her contractual commissions, so we feel like we have the right to bring these issues to light. It will be over my dead body that I allow a friend of mine to do business with her. There was just no need for this.

Going from 27 acres of hills, a creek, gardens, and not a neighbor in sight, to here was a rough transition at first but we finally convinced her to sell her beloved cabin and buy a new home. The first day of her search though turned out miserable. She didn't ask me for help looking so I assumed she didn't need it, but by the end of the day when we talked on the phone she was in tears. She had looked up online all the houses with her requirements at different real estate sites and gone to look at them only to find that they were in bad neighborhoods, were an inch away from another house, had no back yard etc. I went with her the next day since I knew the area and we just happened to see an open house in a neighborhood I knew was nice. We walked in and there was Ida with cookies and Italian Coffee. Even just that made us feel a bit better about the day. The house was great compared to anything my mother had looked at by herself, however, it was great and expensive. It also was up against the road which was a problem. We have four family cats who were used to roaming the woods, they needed as much space and trees as possible with the city dangers as far away as possible. We liked her right away and even though we hadn't intended to get an agent, we decided she was worth it. After that everything was easy. She brought us profiles on all the houses she thought we might like, and worked with us until we found one that worked and knew we wanted it. It has an amazing backyard perfect for the cats and not on a main road but in the same nice neighborhood we saw the first house in. The house was a short sale so it took us a while to get in but Ida let us know realistic expectations for the dates that turned out to be quite accurate. She wasn't overly optimistic or pessimistic with us during the house buying process, she was realistic and honest about everything and it really made us feel like she cared about us being happy to be getting a new house but that we'd be happy living in it for an indefinite amount of time. We're now moved in but not quite unpacked and it was so much less stressful because of Ida. She really is a great agent and we're happy to have her at the house any time.
