RENTER BEWARE! I would never rent from this location again…read more I have rented with Budget before and never had any issues, but this experience was so bad that I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. I booked the truck online through Budget with a confirmed reservation, including the pickup/drop-off dates and total price. When I arrived, the staff informed me that I would need to pay an additional $500 for their specific liability insurance, even though my reservation clearly listed the total amount and I already had insurance coverage. I called Budget customer service while I was there, and they confirmed that this insurance was not required, which made it seem like this location was trying to add unauthorized charges. The staff insisted they would not rent to me unless I purchased their insurance. I even called my insurance company to confirm my coverage and tried to show proof, but they refused to look at it. When I told them I would rent elsewhere, another employee suddenly came out and said they could waive the insurance fee only if I signed a waiver releasing them from liability. During this process, the employee at the front desk repeatedly tried to intimidate me by emphasizing how large the truck was, saying I probably didn't realize how big it was and implying I wouldn't be able to handle it without their insurance. After signing the paperwork, I asked to inspect the truck. The employee dismissed the request and said everything had already been marked and that it was "all covered," then handed me the keys and walked away. When I got the truck home, I noticed that one of the tires had extremely worn tread. Since I was planning to drive the truck across the country, this was obviously a serious safety concern. I immediately called the location, and the employee actually laughed and said that because I had signed the liability waiver, they wouldn't do anything about the tires. When I asked if they could replace it, she told me it would have to go to a mechanic and that they don't handle that there. Because I didn't feel safe starting a long trip with a damaged tire, I had to pay out of pocket to replace it myself before leaving town. To make matters worse, after returning the vehicle early, I checked my credit card and saw that I had been charged a $150 "no show" fee from the Stockton, CA location. When I called Budget customer service (not the local office), they told me that this location had marked my reservation as a no-show. This entire experience was incredibly frustrating. Budget's customer service representatives even said they were surprised by the behavior of this location. Be very cautious renting from here. Based on my experience, they do not stand behind their vehicles and may attempt to add questionable charges.

I went to acquire my truck and was informed that they had no truck scheduled to go out today. I showed them my confirmation number. They were very rude and told me there's nothing they could do. Went over to U-Haul and they hooked me up right away.
