I had a really frustrating experience at this U-Haul. I took my propane tank in to be filled this morning. It had the valve knob on it when it left the back of my truck to be filled, and it was placed right back into my truck afterward. A few hours later, we were leaving for a camping trip and realized the valve knob was missing. We drove all the way back to U-Haul to ask about it. The employee called the person who filled my tank, and he confirmed that he did fill my tank and had to turn the valve knob to do it before putting it back. Then I was told, "Maybe you didn't have the knob when you brought it in." That made absolutely no sense. If I didn't have the knob, how was the tank filled? Especially after the employee who filled it had already confirmed he used the knob during the fill. The tank never left the back of my truck except while it was being filled. Instead of taking responsibility or helping resolve the issue, they dismissed my concern and offered no solution. We were left scrambling before our camping trip because a part that was there when we arrived was suddenly missing. Very disappointing customer service. I expected much better. read more

No manager on site at the time of incident, dropped trailer off in the front as I have multiple times Saul seemed to obtain a power trip as he did not want to move the trailer behind the gate with a specialized piece of equipment that they have to move these trailers making it effortless also having in mind this is a small trailer. He began to threaten me that he will charge me a sweep out fee if I do not hook this trailer back up to my truck after already parking in the front of the shop away from original drop location to pull it into the fenced area. He said since he saw a few leaves in the trailer he will be charging me then began to give me a broom and said go sweep out the few leaves in the trailer which had fallen from the tree it was parked under due to the wind that day, leaves would not be left in the trailer after driving it to U-Haul from my house. Will not be returning to location after renting multiple times from them. read more

Extremely upset how my Mother has been treated! My family and I have used not only Storage, but also rental trucks for YEARS! We've never had any problems! I understand right now it's hard times for most of us during this crazy pandemic! I understand if customer service is not up to par due to being understaffed or dealing with angry customers, I get it! I've been in customer service for over 20 years, it's never easy! I don't even like leaving bad reviews! HOWEVER, when it comes to injustice and a company trying to take advantage of my elderly Mom, who is a widow and on an extremely fixed income, especially when it was no fault of her own! That's when I have to speak up and give this horrible review, so this way people can BEWARE! I'll definitely be contacting their corporate office! Like I mentioned, we've used rental trucks for years. My Mother had to go pick up some yard waste for her 86 year old Mother who is suffering from Dementia & hasn't been doing well at all. Like most, money is really tight. It was a simple pick up and drop off of yard waste. So my Mom not thinking clearly, thinking since she has AAA & she's covered, tried to save money by saying no to insurance!‍ Ya, her daughters were like WHY DIDN't u get insurance!! My Mom not realizing or checking, (which that's not her job to check all the tires)they gave her a truck with some cheap junk tires! She almost swerved on the freeway, the tire blew out so bad! Thankfully she didn't get in a car accident ! She was so shaken up! She had to wait HOURS in the hot heat for their towing service! When she goes to return it some rude employee told her she must have got hit from behind and got a dent & that must be how the tire popped! Okay Mr Investigator! So your now calling my Mom a liar! Who gave u this job?! Wrong customer service field to be in Sir! And he told my Mom not only is she liable for this popped tire, but they also found a dent and are trying to pin it on my Mom! Bull crap! My Mom didn't get hit! If she did she would have called the cops and reported it, duh! The Rep told her it's not going to be cheap and she's going to be liable since she didn't want insurance! So she waits for a manager to call back. Manager says she's not responsible for the tire, however she is now responsible for the dent! And says before my Mom rented this truck, it previously was used to pull a trailer!!! Well hello, thank u for that info!!! So you want to put the dent on my Mom after you almost caused her a heart attack on the freeway! Then stressed her out with saying she's going to have to pay all kinds of crap! When most of us are struggling as it is! Not okay!! I do believe in karma! May u get blessed how u deserve!! This was a horrible experience, the rep yelled at me for bringing the truck back early and wouldn't stop yelling even when I left the store. When I called to complain to the Lodi branch and U-haul corporate they never followed through, and after 5 times of calling back each time them never finding me in their computer and starting over I gave up. That's why the rep knew she would get away with such bad behavior. I always treat even a yelling rep with respect, don't raise my voice, she was unprofessional and completely incompetent. I rented a truck from this location for May 24th and needed to pick it up at 5:30 pm. I was assured by the woman behind the desk that I could, and return it in 24 hours. When I received my order confirmation, the pick up time was 12:00 pm. I tried to call customer service to see if the pick up time could be changed. They needed to route me to Lodi to do the change. No one in Lodi would pick up the phone, it kept re-routing back to customer service. I was on the phone for over an hour and finally gave up, deciding to drive into the store, which is 30 minutes away. There were no customers in the store. The young man that helped me said he would change the pick up time to 5:30, no problem. On the 24th, I received a call from the manager in Manteca, Gil. The notes had not been changed and, if I hadn't picked up the truck by 1:00, I would have lost the rental. Kudos to Gil for watching my order and saving the day! In the future, I would NEVER deal with the Lodi store again! These people truly don't care about their customers or doing their job! read more

Unfortunately the Lodi U-Haul is one of the only places to fill propane for a reasonable price in Lodi. I say unfortunately because I constantly have to wait for service. Regularly I have to wait 30 minutes do you have a tank filled and on a couple of occasions have waited about 30 minutes to have a feel for them to come out and say somethings broken really can't help me. There are days where I drive all the way to Stockton to fill my propane tanks just to avoid the terrible service that Lodi U-Haul offers. read more

THIEFS GO SOMWHERE ELSE!! My son left his wallet in a truck we rented with 200 dollars in it. He worked all summer for this money and has been saving it. (He's only 14) . When I called they said they have the wallet but with no money in it. The manager was rude and denied any of her employees took the money. Even though they thoroughly clean the truck when it's returned. My son has been sick about it and they have taught him a sad lesson, you can't trust adults! I rent from this location often. Since I come here more often then most people I know for a fact that they are the most friendly and professional in Lodi. Like any successful business they get busy - so get there early and be patient. And like any human, if you get frustrated with them, they may get frustrated back. However, for the most part, they are calm and friendly. I have never had an issue with this location whatsoever. Not to say it hasn't happened to someone else but I would take my chances coming here. They have all the supplies and truck accessories you need or want. I even checked the internet and the wrap here is a great deal. Unless you buy in bulk, you won't get a better deal. They also charge me 2 days for the dolly and they said that I unlatched it. But it was not even fastened down when I got it. I waited, and waited patiently for him to finish and or another employee to come. 5 mins later a guy walks out from the back, looks at me, then keeps walking. I flag him down to get help. He informs me that he is not certified and that nobody on site is certified to fill propane. But someone will be in in a couple hours if I want to come back. In a complete panic, I ran over to U-Haul on Cherokee in Lodi and the nicest employee (George) helped me out very quickly and professionally. I had run out of propane while unloading a customer with our forklift and I couldn't get them on their way until I had the tank refilled. Absolutely horrible experience. Walked in and there were 2 people renting a dolly, I was first in line waiting. One gentlemen was helping those people and a woman (Julie) was standing there laughing and joking with another employee. I waited 5 minutes for the one gentleman to help those in front of me, then the woman states, "I'm going to lunch." Come to find out, she was the only one who could fill propane so I had to wait 30 minutes for her to get back. She came back to the store and the gentlemen told her I was waiting for a propane fill. I heard her in the back say that she "isn't finished with her lunch and I can wait." 5 minutes later, she came out to do the 2 minute job of filling my propane tank. This place was great! We had such a good experience here renting our storage unit and dropping off our uhaul. We were greeted right away when we walked into the shop. Cody helped us in deciding which size storage unit would best fit our uhaul of stuff. He even came out to the truck to look at what we wanted to store and explained all the different options for storage. He was very patient and through. He even tried to help us look up old receipts on their computer system to return unused boxes we had purchased at a different location. I would highly recommend this place. However, this experience was so frustrating I feel I need to share. Long story short the trailer they hooked up shorted the brake switch to my truck. In an attempt to fix the problem they caused, the employee used a screwdriver to try to pry open the taillight cover and cracked it. This was all in front of the manager Shanel Baca. Shanel said the company will pay for the damages but when it came to paying the bill she evaded our emails and calls. The one time we did speak she was unprofessional condescending and she flat out lied to us. We put up with this for over a month and just called the corporate number(the one she refused to give us) to file a complaint. The next day a check was issued. Funny how that works. read more

After reserving a trailer 2 weeks in advance and then driving 8hrs from San Diego to take the trailer back one-way, UHaul calls me a cancels my reservation! WHAT?!?!? Warning: they are charging after-hours service fees if you drop off your truck after they are closed. I dropped off the truck at 7:55 PM (their sign said open and there were two people behind the desk) and was told that I couldnt leave it there, even though their sign says "24/7 returns". I pointed this out and they said- sorry we changed our policy. I told them I live 15 miles away and left my car on their lot- so I didn't have any other alternative. I tried using the "review" option, but you were having difficulty so my message was lost. I thought it might be helpful to uhaul to hear of a poor experience. I certainly had one. A couple of weeks ago, I went online to reserve a 15' truck to make a one way move from Stockton CA to Sacramento, CA. I have used Uhaul for a number prior moves with no problems. On Friday, I received an online notice confirming my reservation but changing the pickup location from the one I selected in Stockton to a site in the nearby town of Lodi. The pickup time was 9 am. When I arrived at the location on Beckman Road in Lodi, I could see that there were no trucks in their lot. The location was a seed company but had a Uhaul sign outside. I spoke with the two workers who said they didn't have the reserved truck because it wasn't delivered by tomorrow he last renter. They made a call to someone and began arguing that they didn't have time to help me as this was not their primary job. The worker suggested I go to the nearby Uhaul store on Cherokee lane. At the Cherokee Lane Uhaul, I inquired about a truck. I was told that all their trucks were out. No further help was give except for a phone number of Uhaul to see if they could help. I called the Uhaul number and after a very long call on hold period, I spoke to two people the second of which was in reservations. That person pulled up my order then said a truck was available in Stockton at the Tamoshanter location. At the Stockton store, there were many people milling around there. The clerk told me that I was the third person directed to their store but they had no trucks. A poor lady with an infant had been waiting for a hour after driving from Tracy. She needed a 26 foot truck and had movers arriving in 45 Minutes. She was going to be out of luck. The clerk said his computer had been down but was now functioning and that a 10' truck would be ready at 1 pm at another location. I reserved it in hopes of salvaging my move plans for the day. At 1pm, I arrived at the liquor store/Uhaul rental location. There was a truck in the parking lot. Looked promising. I was able to rent the truck with one snafu. The attendant marked that there was a 1/4 tank of gas when there was only any 1/8th. I ended up filling it to 3/8 of a tank before returning it in West Sacramento that afternoon. At the drop off, there was only one nice, poor attendant there with many trucks to check in. So many that I had difficulty finding a place to park. In all, I was able to make the move I had planned, but the rental experience was poor and i thought I'd share it with you. read more

So I wait and 815 comes around and they said "something" was going on with the system. I call BS they probably just gave my truck to another person, im not an idiot. Now they tell me I have to rent a trailer and drive it there myself. I am a 63 year old single woman and do not have the resources to do this. Until I come there to get it, they are holding my u-box hostage and charging me for storage. I have already paid them $2,500.00. For another fee they will let me rent a truck and a trailer to pick it up. Do not contract with this company, they are dishonest!!!!! It is more than 60 miles and it is going to cost me another $500.00! read more

How are we supposed to know that trucks don't come with ramps. And then they said we should have asked and called them directly and not called the call center. I reserved a truck a week before needing it for a one way move.U Haul dispatcher called me the day before pick up and told me my truck was in WEST SACRAMENTO ! Went there to pick up.... they knew nothing about it and did not have a 10,15,or20 ft truck for a one way trip . They then called dispatch , they had nothing for me. The nearest was 100 miles away.... U Haul is over booking !!! I had to cancel 2 Air flights and ended up getting a round trip truck which cost me double the price. After moving several times I encountered literally the move from hell. No one likes to move, but when you're moving your own items plus inherited items from 3 other people the move can get incredibly tricky. The only negative thing I have to say about this crew is that I'm sorry I didn't come across them at the beginning of the move instead of at the very end. I've worked with more than 20 businesses during this move including several Uhaul locations in the general area and this location is the absolute BEST center I've ever come across. No matter what problem we were facing, this crew worked together to help me come up with a solution even if it was sometimes a little "out of the box." Their management is amazing and teamwork "can-do" attitude couldn't be better. Each of the employees brings their own individual flair to the group and they work with their customers to the best of their ability and if I dare say...even beyond. I never expected to receive the kind of service that I received here. The gentility and kindness combined with gracious professionalism is that which you would expect to find at a small mom and pop rather than a large corporation. I simply can't say enough about the security felt in leaving my storage in their more than capable and competent hands. Although the ending of our business has concluded on a less than desirable note, it is not from a lack of trying or EXTRAORDINARY assistance from this crew. I have to say, they have really bent over backwards trying to help make this transition easier and went the extra mile including but not limited to being my personal therapists from time to time. I would DEFINITELY come back again without hesitation. read more

Worst U-Haul truck rental experience ever! I called to make an appointment 3 days before I wanted to pick the 10 foot box truck up. The lady that answered the phone was very rude. Horrible attitude! The day before my appointment they call me 2 times in a row within 5 min and leave a message asking me to confirm my reservation. I'm at work I can't just pick up the phone so I didn't appreciate 2 calls without even the chance to call back. Not 2 minutes after the second call I get a text saying my reservation is confirmed. Wrong time for pick up, of course. So I call them back when I get a break from work and luckily the guy that answered was very nice and got my time changed and it was all figured out. So the next day my husband goes to pick up the truck, they make him go out and inspect it himself not even quality assurance in your own trucks! The lady tells him he needs to bring it back with 3/4 of a tank of gas because that's where it is filled to now, luckily he checked and it was only a half of tank and he had to write over her mistake to ensure we were not getting cheated! As he is driving off he notices that the door of the truck doesn't seal so all kinds of air and water drops are coming in. Along with that the steering wheel was off center. Come on U-Haul you need to quality check your trucks! So horrible experience over all wouldn't go to this location again! read more

I am rating this is one star because there is no ZERO star. We called their phone number to inquire about installing a towing hitch (for a bike rack) immediately as we are going on vacation that evening and would like to take our bikes. The call was answered by the call center. They said that the hitch for our car is not available and that their LODI location has the hitch and that they can install that day. The reservation was given set up by a Yvonne Terrero. So we packed our bikes temporarily inside the SUV, purchased the bike rack at sports chalet and drove 45 mins to that location at the time set. We needed the bike rack installed as half point on our vacation we will have more people in our car that the bikes can't be inside the SUV. When we got there, the associate, Jeremy said that there is no one available to install it. So I asked why would your company set a reservation when nobody can install it and his answer was not really making sense "it is booked online". I wonder how many people has been inconvenienced by this system. He wouldn't even try to find a solution for this and simply gave us the impression that he really doesn't care. He gave up easily in contacting other areas near where we will be or along the way. So we drive to my mom's house in Stockton to think of a plan B. While we were there, we called their Stockton branch and another girl, Arlene Bugay, indicated that Stockton has the hitch available and they are also available to install it and gave us another reservation no. It's a good thing that I called back again and insisted to talk to the person that she said I should contact about the installation because AGAIN there is nobody there to install it. Now, for the love of Pete, what kind of system do they have? Just booking reservations when they don't have the ability to perform it. This is a exhibit of HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. It has cost us money, gas, and time which the person we dealt with at the LODI branch couldn't care less. OH one more thing, when my BF and I were discussing that we should contact an independent shop around to install a hitch, and he has the guts to say, "oh you can buy the hitch from us." I am highly disappointed this was my very first U-Haul rental and it was a terrible experience first off I rented a truck for 10:30 AM and my rental was not ready until 1145 when I arrived I completed the paperwork and I was told I needed to fill up the truck before I came back. The truck smelt terrible and was very dirty but I let it go because I was already behind and I was on a time crunch. My apartment was about five minutes away from this rental location and when I got to my apartment I noticed the gas tank was only half full meaning the last person who rented it before me did not fill it up. I only used the truck for about four hours and when I returned it I showed them my receipt for $60 to fill up their truck and I told them and showed them a photo of the gas tank when I received it. They told me there was nothing they could do for me and that I should have showed them before I left Even though I showed them a photo from five minutes after I picked it up with a time stamp! When I tried to call multiple times nobody answered the phone. I don't think I should have ever even received that truck knowing there was only half a tank in it I paid almost $160 for this rental for only four hours when it should have only cost me about $50 I only drove it about 5 miles total maybe even less. I do not ever write bad reviews but I am so upset with this location and the staff they did not seem to care or want to help . they didn't even bother to make eye contact with me when I picked up the truck and when I dropped it off. I will never go back to this location again if I was being honest I would give them a 0 star rating. read more
