Great service they helped me as I maneuvered my way from Menifee to Encino after originally moving from my place in DTLA. I needed a lift gate to tackle a stacked washer and dryer that weighed over 1000 lbs it worked great. The price was reasonable and even though I was a day behind I was not charged an extra day. I realize everyone's go to is U-Haul but if you want the upgrade where the steering wheel doesn't shimmy and shake and the seats don't feel like your sitting on a bail of hay then Penske is your upgrade. There trucks are just newer better and provide a comfortable ride after moving 8-10 hours it's a comfort you feel and will appreciate on the way to unload the truck lol. They always have late model trucks available, always take last minute reservations, always provide efficient, fast and friendly service and always outperform the guys with the orange trucks covered in dorky murals. Those other guys do not have the option of huge stainless steel shelving that folds up against the wall along the entire box like Penske Truck Rental does. A $242.75 deposit with environment fee $4.00 local deposit fee$2.00. Now the deposit is $150 + 92$. The truck was dirty like mud stains around, windshield dusty not clean cant see thru, inside smell horible. I was charged $25.00 for a hand truck i didnt even had one. I am extremely disappointed with Penske. This was the first time I rented a truck from them instead of my usual go-to U-Haul. I arrived at the Temecula location, and the truck was ready. I picked it up, drove a few miles only to find out that the steering wheel is shaking vigorously. I brought the truck back, and the Penske employee told me that she knew about it, but that the steering wheel was doing it only "in the beginning of her drive from San Clemente". I could not believe that this unsafe to drive truck was given to me when the employee knew about the issue. I had to scramble looking for a U-Haul rental and had to pay extra to get the truck I needed. Unnecessary stress, frustration the day of the long-distance move is not something I needed when I gave Penske a chance. The employee did give me a "free day" on future rental, but seriously, I feel I cannot rely on Penske again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Came in to pick up a cargo van at 7:00am because, you know, I came in the day before and reserved it. Get to the facility on time to pick it up and low and behold - no cargo van. "I'm very sorry they said - we have a 16' truck available" - "I can't use a 16' truck as there isn't access available" I say. "Oh no? We we can order a van for you from Miramar which would be here by noon". Ya, buddy, the day is planned. I can't wait for 5 hours - I was supposed to be done by then. "Someone should have called you" they said. This was something that should have never happened. My business represents over 2000 clients in the TEMECULA area and beyond. Picked up truck and used it, but when I went to return it the location I had did not provide after hours drop off and the paperwork did not show the alternate location which was just several miles up the road. I tried to call the 800 number but it was not a 24hr service. Overall I am glad I used this company, just wish they had 24hr service where you could ask questions since they are located in a different time zone. read more

I was able to reserve a 16' truck for the day I needed at a reasonable price. A couple days before, I requested a large truck which they said I could pick up at another location. All good except for the price! A26' truck for more than 3x the price of the 16'. They kept selling it as a great price with a whopping 10% discount. I cancelled the reservation and called Uhaul. Got a 26' truck at a better price that the 16' at Penske. I'll never deal with Penske again. read more

Thank you! I had pre-ordered my truck several months in advance as I was moving from temecula to Washington state. I had ordered a 12ft thinking that would be enough bases off my storage unit. Needless to say the nice girl (who was also new) that helped us, when she pulled it up I knew immediately it was too small. I asked her if they had a 16ft she wasn't sure as she has more reservations. So we waited patiently till all her reservations came in. Approx an hour. She checked her lot, and they had one. But it was squared away for a pickup the following day. She called her manager, Luis (I believe) to see what could be done. He said, to go ahead and let me take it and he'll replace it with one in the am since the reservation was not till the following afternoon! I cannot thank them enough! read more

Had a reservation for over 30 days and recieved 4 calls to confirm the reservation. Get there to pick up my truck at my confirmed pickup time, and they dont have it. I can wait for 3 hours with the no garantee the truck will be ready or drive to Chino to pock up another truck. Horrible service. Uhaul had one ready in 10 minutes with no reservation. A good experience all around. I chose Penske for the low price. They also had unlimited miles and let me keep the truck a day more than UHaul would have. The staff at the Winchester office was awesome! Friendly, answered all my questions and did a great job explaining the truck operation, etc. The truck itself was comfortable and easy to drive. My first time driving a 26 foot behemoth but it was actually pretty fun! At the Penske drop off point once again great friendly staff. I love good service and Penske definately delivers good service. She's still multiple times apologize that I was waiting and insisted that she would take care of me shortly. We reserved the truck a week in advance and confirmed the day before. When we got there they didn't have a 12 ft truck and said we could either wait 2 hours for one to be delivered or drive to San Marcos to pick one up. We weren't going to do either so our only option was to take a 16 ft truck. When we opened the back it was full of leftover packing trash and there was dog hair on the front seat. First, the employee Michael, who checked me in for the 26' truck I reserved. He handed me a pamphlet after driving the truck and car carrier around. He didn't go over any of the trucks features or how to secure a car on the carrier. I had to ask him to help guide me driving my car on it. He acted like he didn't care to help. At night I had to search for the headlight switches. 2nd: the truck! The AC blew warm air the 4 days I drove it across the country in 100* weather! And the drivers door wouldn't lock from the outside, I had to lock it then climb out the passenger side. I'll stick to U-haul from now on! read more

Penske would charge $484. to rent a truck in Temecula and drop it off in Orange County. U Haul was $156.

Be careful about dropping off your rental during non-hours of operation. They told me to drop off the key before 6:00am and we would not be charged for a third day. We dropped off the truck at just after 5:00am but they charged us for a third day anyway. They told me that "their system" told them that I dropped it off at 11:00am, so that's why they had to charge me for the third day. We have pictures of the odometer showing that we only used the truck for 32 miles, but they charged for 52 miles. This only added up because they quoted me 15 cents per mile, but then, after another computer system problem, they said they had to charge me 49 cents per mile. They said that the pictures didn't matter because we could have taken them any time. They also haven't returned my $150 deposit because of another computer system problem. My question is - "wy are all the computer system problems always in their favor?" Also, they were very, very accomodating and over the top friendly when we picked up the truck, but the same people on return were aggressive and rude and unhelpful. I was so (stupid) happy with their service at first I even filled up the truck all the way past full when it wasn't even close to full when I picked it up - that's just my stupidity. It doesn't seem like you can trust anyone in business these days... always looking for opportunities to screw the consumer. Well, Penske in Temecula got my business this once. Oh, by the way, not only did they charge me for an extra day, and twenty extra miles, they also debited my bank account for an extra $89 on top of all that. read more
