Just like most people, we've had the worst experience with moving companies, but this time it felt different. I was recommended to checkmate moving by our realtor. I called to get a quote and spoke to Jared, he explained everything to me and he went by the house to give me an acoquine since it was such a large house. The quote was for $17,000 which seems pricey, but worth every penny as they did an incredible job. Mike(the owner) and his guys showed up on time, covered the stair railing and anything else that needed to be covered so as to not damage the house. They were fast , efficient, friendly, and overall great guys! They were so careful with my stuff that I knew it would get from Colorado to texas in the same brand new condition. Mike and his guys arrived as promised in Texas and immediately got to work, they placed all my items where they belonged in my new house making sure they were careful to cover any area of the house that could get damaged with moving blankets. I cannot say enough good things about Mike, Jared and their guys! Faith in movers restored thanks to Checkmate movers! The price may be higher, but moving your expensive stuff is not the time to be cheap! I recommend these guys 1million percent!

Great company, fair pricing, great service…read more I hired Road Scholars two times: First, to move my stuff into a storage unit. Next, to move it out of the storage unit and into my house about a week late. The first crew was very careful to wrap all my belongings in plastic, and then to pack everything carefully in the storage unit. The second crew was able to unload the storage unit very quickly (much faster than loading it into storage), and then unloaded everything in my house very quickly as well. While the second crew was much faster than the first, both crews worked hard and were very careful. If you're thinking about hiring these guys, my advice is to book a weekday move on a non-holiday. My Monday morning crew was super experienced and quick, and if you get them, you're going to love it. Finally, I saw some notes in other reviews about damaged belongings, and I'd like to point out that: 1. Most furniture isn't designed to be loaded into a truck, driven down the road, and then unloaded and hauled up or down stairs, etc. If you think you're going to move all your belongings and have everything arrive in perfect condition, you're not very smart. Damage is to be expected. 2. Despite the risks and my expectation that some of my stuff would get damaged, both crews were careful. I lost just one piece of furniture due to damage - a cheap Walmart desk that was 10 years old - and I was fine with it. One destroyed desk is nothing compared to the damage I'd do if I moved all my stuff myself. I also had some dings and dents I didn't notice before, but again - this is how moving goes. In my opinion, if you want all your stuff to be in perfect shape after a big move, buy a gym membership and start weight training ASAP. Then, once you're strong enough to pickup all your stuff and maneuver it effortlessly around corners and up stairs, you're the perfect mover. And if you aren't willing to hit the weights, then get over yourself.

Their "truck" was a sizable trailer, not your typical moving truck. I had them move one bedroom's furniture, and living room/kitchen furniture, and it took about 3 hours, which is what I expected. I'd previously hired other movers who pressured me to wrap everything which takes time and money, but they also had dollies and could take large pieces of furniture down stairs so they may have been slightly more efficient. These guys were more careful with my furniture and may have been less efficient but were very hard workers. Hope this helps you decide to choose them!

The morning of the move, their truck unfortunately broke down, but they adapted quickly by using a trailer instead so the move could still happen as scheduled. Although it required two trips between Aurora and Thornton, they handled the situation well and got everything completed. I especially appreciated their willingness to partially disassemble my couch to fit it through a stairwell and doorway, then put it back together afterward. Overall, the team worked hard, stayed positive despite the unexpected issues, and got the job done for an affordable price.
