Half of the large parking lot at Kapolei Community Park is closed to allow the vendors to set up. They are all on the basketball court side of the park. Prices were really cheap and the vendors were really friendly. I definitely would go again. I am super happy with a bag of five tomatoes that I picked up for only $2! If you want Thai basil, it is only 50 cents a bunch, and pastries start at only 50 cents among lots of other items. Parking is street parking. There were lots of parking available. One thing though is that this farmer's market is a really early one ending at around 730 or 8 am. Cash only and open only on Sundays. Among the selections: sweet onions, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, basil (already made pesto tonight!), oranges, apples, potatoes (all kinds, including purple sweet), beans, lemons, key limes, and apple bananas. I will DEFINITELY be back. One downside is that you have to arrive early (between 7 and 7:30 a.m.). After that, they're getting ready to tear it down, so you almost feel as if you're being rude while they're cleaning up. Be sure to bring smaller bills and even coins. Also, pack some cloth grocery bags or bring a big purse.

Another reason I enjoy going to farmers market is that most vendors allow you to taste the products before you buy. This particular farmers market is run by Mahiku, which is associated with several other Farmers Markets all across the island. They also are in charge of the International Market Place farmers market, the Momilani Rec Center, Ben Parker Elementary and Honolulu Community College. From vegetables, fruits, jewelry, pipikaula beef jerky, that lobster tail deal 10 for $20, thai food, Filipino food, Hawaiian food, portirican food, and so forth. There was an area to sit but it wasn't covered, so we decided to eat breakfast at Shiro's. I picked up a few snacks from a few vendors. My husband inhaled a lumpia with kalua pig and sweet potato. I purchased a baked manapua, Spanish roll (it was okay), malasada, and Thai iced tea. Decent sized Farmers Market to check out. It's only there 2nd week, so I'm sure they'll be more vendors to come.

Made my way over to RissazKillaKonez, so many different soft serve flavors, I got a cappuchino, pretty good on a hot sunny day, ice cream was melting so fast though. Lastly, saw this crispy beef jerky tent. Beef jerky is my fave snack, I like all kinds, store bought or local made. For $14 I got a teriyaki crispy jerky after trying a bunch of samples and to be honest, it's not the best. It's bland, it isn't that "crispy", practically just hard jerky that breaks apart easily. Comparing this crispy beef jerky to the one in swap meet, swap meet is 1000 times way better and more flavorful, melts in your mouth type crispy jerky.

They have amazing butters - try any of their chocolate butters and you'll think you are in heaven! Note-these are seasonal so there may be different ones available when you visit. Award winning Coconut black chocolate is absolutely amazing, rich, and decadent and the best way to eat this is to get a big spoonful then just sit there and savor the flavor. The Kona coffee dark chocolate is also amazing. Hard to decide which is better! Got a jar if passion fruit Hawaiian pepper (chili pepper) smoked pineapple Kentucky whiskey to use as a glaze for meat. Very easy to find, off the freeway heading north on Kunia Rd and it will be on the next stoplight past Walmart, making a left on Anonui Street. You can't miss it because there's a huge sign and banners on the corner it is located on. There is plenty of parking attended by a couple of friendly parking attendants directing your way. There is a covered area with several picnic tables near the entrance as well as 2 porta potties. The market itself is not very big and housed in one small but long building. There are a few vendors on the porch area selling flavored water, baked goods, honey, and other goodies. Upon entering the building, the majority of produce will be to your right. To the far left is the checkout area. They accept bankcard and cash. Most of the items are packaged with signs and prices by each type of produce. The display of produce is neatly laid out and well-stocked. They even provide rolling shopping baskets for your convenience. Today they were having a 4th of July special on their sweet corn - buy 4 bags, get 1 free. The table was packed full when I arrived & in less than a half hour, it was empty. I was fortunate to grab a bag. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other farmer's markets. They were also selling Waialua cage-free jumbo eggs, 1 dzn for $6 and also Kauai shrimp in 2 sizes. Cashiers were very friendly and personable. Even though there was a line, both cashiers worked fast and efficiently. I was able to get a case of apple bananas for $25, lots of bunches to share with friends and neighbors. Most of the produce is bagged for $5 including eggplant, Choi sum, bok choy, tomatoes, beans, taro and bittermelon leaves and much more. I've been there twice and got my favorite papaya 2 for )5 (large ones) and pineapple. I also purchased the large bag of Kauai Shrimp with two sizes available You can enjoy some food carts and crafts there as well. Support our local farmers and visit them!

If you want local snacks, cheap souvenirs, or just a good walk, this is the place to be. Every time I visit, I end up finding something great, but this specific trip was a massive win. I had been on a hunt for coconut apple (the spongy, sweet embryo inside a mature coconut)...I had been to another marketplace, but this was the spot where I found it. I walked stall by stall, asking the vendors. Some gave me a knowing look, and some didn't, but when I found it, I was happy and able to relive my childhood memories of eating this. Between hunting down rare local treats and scoring great deals on shirts, gear, and random finds, you easily get your dollar's worth here.
