There's only 2 places on the island that I know of that you can get these vegan Asian meats, which is so delicious, healthy with nature soy,m fibers, and has far less sodium and preservatives than the American beyond meat veg options. I walked stall by stall, asking the vendors. Some gave me a knowing look, and some didn't, but when I found it, I was happy and able to relive my childhood memories of eating this. If you combine it with cream cheese it softens the heat. They do have one with ghost peppers or Caroline Reaper peppers but beware - I bought it for my friend who loves heat and she said it's really hot! They have amazing butters - try any of their chocolate butters and you'll think you are in heaven! Note-these are seasonal so there may be different ones available when you visit. Award winning Coconut black chocolate is absolutely amazing, rich, and decadent and the best way to eat this is to get a big spoonful then just sit there and savor the flavor. I stop by Chow's Seafood and Meat Market to buy Chinese fishcake which is one of the only stalls that sell it now. The stall. might not look like the most sterile place to shop but the fishcake is very good. The fishcake is a raw paste that you could use in any number of dishes. It sells for about $8 a pound but it stretches the budget and you get a lot of fishcake dumplings in one pound.

Today, I was looking for a pineapple for my mom, but, unfortunately, didn't find any. However, I did see items such as locally caught fish packed in ice, clean chicken feet in refrigerated cases, and tables full of colorful vegetables and fruits! The variety is overwhelming! There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. If not, the municipal parking lots have reasonable parking rates.

Freshly harvested farm produce for the commuters driving down Kunia Road. A perk for commuters is that you can order online and pay ahead, so they package up your purchase and you drive in to pick up your order. There is a huge lot to park in, so parking is not a problem or you can drive through for your order. The prices are very good! A huge turnip cost me $2 and it was SUPER FRESH! The mint is a large FRESH two fistful bunch that cost me $2. Wish they had not run out of basil or swiss chard. I would have loved to buy from them. The kale bunches are huge and FRESH. The long bean, medium beans, and string beans are FRESH! The bananas are offered at a great price! Fresh pumpkin flowers, bitter melon leaves, kaffir lime leaves, thai ginger, tomatoes, papayas, avocados. Stop by and check it all out. The first week, they sold out of so many items, I had to go back the next two weeks to see what I had missed and I was not disappointed the next two times because everything is SO FRESH and reasonably priced. They sell delicious fresh spices to make your own Thai Curry, YUM!! They sell shredded green papaya to make papaya salad.

If I was lived or work close by I would look forward to Wednesdays, the Honolulu Farmer's Market happens once a week from 4-7pm. Free parking , I try to make a stop here if I need veggies, fruits for the midweek. It is out of the way for me come from east side and coming from long work day, I am already exhausted. This Farmer's Market is smaller compared to the one at Kapiolani Community College on Saturdays, less than 20 vendors. Noticed some vendors from the KCC FM, a quick stop to 2 booths for Thai Banana, butter lettuce and chayote fruit. Got what I needed, quick walk to the end to see browse the other vendors. Although the food and drink booth looked great, one day I will make it a Honolulu Farmer's Market night where we go for our walk here, grab goods, enjoy and then walk back home! For this visit, I am happy with my produce, can't wait to prep my salads and cook a dish with the chayote. Love farm fresh veggies!!
