Overall, pretty disappointed with People Products' windows. The company talked a big game during the sales process, but the follow-up service never really happened despite multiple promises. The windows themselves are mediocre at best, especially considering the price. The screens feel flimsy, and there are noticeable gaps that let bugs in. I also paid extra for the upgraded glass package and honestly can't tell the difference. To make matters worse, some of the latches are already breaking. Compared to my 20+ year old Anderson windows, these don't even come close in quality or durability. Oh, and the siding they replaced outside is falling. I had much higher expectations. read more

Our only request from them (People Product) was that we are purchasing 3 different window. Windows will arrived after there job, can company come back and put same casing around these windows. I can't speak to their product or service because the representative coming to give a quote on windows never actually made it here! They were supposed to come last Thursday night, and instead got a call 15 minutes before appointment time asking to reschedule because he was lost. Ummm... Okay, agree to reschedule for Tuesday. It was odd that there were separate follow up text messages asking how the presentation was and then how the quote was received. I'm sure they're automated, but really.... Maybe have your salesman confirm in your system they kept the appointment before sending messages about a quote that doesn't exist. Fast forward to the rescheduled appointment, and at the appointment time, the office calls to advise the representative is across the state and will be an hour late. Now Connecticut is small, but it is longer then an hour even driving above the speed limit. Do not buy! We bought supposedly lifetime windows several years back. We just had the fourth one spontaneously shatter. The installers were awful - and no insulation around the windows. This would be a good case for a class action lawsuit if there were others in the same boat. read more

Saw them at a home show. Liked the product and had them come to quote on a replacement. Sales person was nice and friendly until we decided that we would not purchase immediately and informed the sales person of our financial methodology regarding home improvements. Well, hard sell came and when no, we will consider it, banging and slamming of sales materials commenced. Sales person banged out of our house and left. Saw them at another home show. Was asked about our experience, we told them. We also told them we hadn't received our quote (as scribblings on a legal pad isn't a quote) and were told they would pass this onto the sales manager. Received a call from a representative of the company. Wanted to do another full sales presentation. No, they have all our information and don't need to go through it again. Just issue the quote. Very expensive for a mediocre product. Always pushing for money. Waited three months for windows while they were holding a very large deposit. When the job was done they were very insistent on getting paid immediately. The contractor who did the work was very good. We've all seen the 20/20 type reports of companies going door to door trying to scam the vulnerable, right? Peoples Products is one of those companies! They scammed my mother, a widow who barely speaks English. They estimated over $14,000 to insulate the attic and do a "home energy makeover" which includes such luxuries as a water heater blanket, pipe wraps, outlet covers, CFL bulbs, and a CO2 detector. They told her general things like "The chemicals in your insulation are dangerous." It's all a pile of dog shit but my mom doesn't know anything about fixing the house, and her English is not good so she agreed. After she told me about it, she called the next day and told them she was canceling the contract. The phone rep said they needed to send someone to the house to sign "other release papers." Meanwhile, she went to the post office right away to send a copy of the cancelled contract by certified mail. When I called on her behalf, I was told the same thing about signing "other things". I pointed out that none of that is written on the cancellation clause, it only states that you need to mail a letter. This is allowed by FEDERAL LAW. The guy just said "yeah but there's other things they need to do." Meanwhile same day, after she said she was canceling, she got REPEATED phone calls from the company saying they needed measurements to order the materials or other questions about the order. You see, they were trying to move fast to trick her into letting them order materials so that she would be forced to pay for it. On the 2nd day, two guys came to the house for the cancellation process. This time I was there to assist because I did not want mom there alone. They spent over 30 minutes trying to sell other cheaper services, and Mom and I kept saying NO. Then, one guy says "You keep saying that but I don't hear her (mom) saying that." I said, "Because she only had to say it once, I keep repeating it to you and YOU'RE NOT GETTING THE MESSAGE." Then they had the audacity to say that I must not be a good translator if the message wasn't getting across. Huh? You're the one not listening. They continued to get aggressive: repeatedly calling her a liar and said she wasn't taking care of her family by not fixing these problems. Finally, we had to yell at them and kick them out of the house. TL;DR - High pressure, ABUSIVE sales team, lied about the requirements needed to cancel a contract, grossly overpriced services. ** At one point the salesman said "My wife has stage 4 ovarian cancer". I will let you make your own judgement on whether that might be a true statement or not. read more

I have to write this review not about the sales person specifically, rather the company itself and their business model. We had a sales rep come yesterday to quote us for doors and windows. He was very personable, maybe too personable actually. He was at our home for over 2 hours, and I think I know every school he went to, and every hobby he has. Nice guy, outgoing, but really talked himself up a lot. That is not appealing.He got very comfortable , to the point of sitting down watching tv. The sales pitch was lengthy. A snoozer, really. The education was good- but it could've been condensed. Also, another unattractive trait with sales - putting down competitors. This guy had 2 binders with other products and went through them all saying how terrible they were. I don't know- if this was the only good product out there, why haven't I heard of this before? (Mind you I work in commercial insurance) Over 2 hours later we get to the quote. My word. I never thought we would get there. He changed the #'s a million times. But here were my red flags: The quote was numbers scattered on the back of a brochure. No description, no line items- no telling us how he landed at these #'s, but It seemed as though our replacement double hungs would be over $1k EACH installed, and I don't know a lot about windows but I do think thats astronomical. Next, he says he has "a big order going in soon" and if we get in on this order, we get a discount of almost $8,000. Now, any person knows , if you can knock off that much, you are inflated to begin with. Also, he said the order going in was something like 400 windows. I doubt it. Last (well this isn't last, but for the main points) he shows us the most tacky videos on his ipad. you could tell these testimonials were people reading off of a card. SO awful. But worse? He throws in at the end (and this is when I wanted to boot him out) "if you do one of these, I can knock the price down more") You know when you have a bad gut feeling about something? That was this experience. When he was packing up and trying to get us to say yes, we said we had some more estimates coming, in which his response was "their products are garbage, I am certain I will be seeing you soon". Also, he advised their installers are not sub contractors and after some lengthy research, it turns out they are. They only work for Peoples, but they are still subs. So why lie about it? I like transparency, and this company left me feeling rather annoyed with the tacky sales tactics. Steer clear of companies like this, and call your local contractors. read more

I don't know why I'm not in his database but I did just call the 800 number and there is a Wayne (Jones) at the company so I believe I can stand by my review. I dealt with a Wayne, he led me to believe, at that time, that his company was a reseller/installer of Okna windows. They may be now but they were not then. That's all there is to that. Yelp is not perfect but it's pretty good in my experience. Read these other reviews! They are SO MUCH WORSE THAN MINE! I was looking for replacement windows/ I had a couple of quotes from local contractors, none impressed very much. I heard a commercial for HomeAdvisor.com so I went to the site, filled in the information and hit enter MISTAKE With-in seconds I had numerous emails and phone calls. I chose Peoples as one to provide a quote MISTAKE#2. Salesman shows up on time carrying a fairly large suitcase like bag and a couple of note books. So far so good, I thought. He confirmed the type of windows I wanted and I thought WOW he would pull out a brochure or other material on styles of windows I wanted. He told my wife and me about a super duper energy efficient window only available from his company. Got me wondering ..if this super duper window is so super duper why haven't Anderson, Marvin, Pella, etc developed something similar? Next, he announces he has a demonstration about the product. He sits on the floor and sets up his demo. One thing I learned is Do Not Interrupt him because it is not in his very obvious scripted presentation and confusing him. I'm surprised my wife put up with his behavior! Finally, measurements of the windows were taken, telephone calls to his office for answers to our questions, his laptop computer provides a quote, $17,000.00 with if we agree today, the cost would be $15,000.00. Mind you I already had quotes for the same type windows for under $6,000.00. With that, he was told to pack his stuff and get out. Determined he told us he might be able to "get us a better price" if he called his boss. I asked for a hard copy of his quote and was told he wasn't allowed to leave one per his office. "My office" isn't allowed to spend that much without written quotes and informed him to leave NOW. (wife was headed to phone to call the police to remove him if he continued) And I thought car salespersons were bad! read more

The other reviews below are right on point for the experience I just had. I agreed to a siding and insulation estimate and they threwin a free energy inspection. They were scheduled to come on Tuesday at 6. I get a call at 6:15 saying their siding expert isn't around, they need to reschedule. Rude. Fine, I'll reschedule for Saturday at 2. Someone pulls into the driveway at 2:15. One guy rolled up in an Audi. Brought in a backpack. I'm thinking 'how are you going to do an energy inspection (valued at $149) with that? The energy inspection wasn't impressive. Told me what I already knew about buying an old home. The guy misidentified the expansion chamber on my furnace for the hot water tank. The sales guy didn't carry any literature on their "high end, best materials out there". Weird, right? He used the scare tactic of telling me about the harmful materials in every insulation except what they carry. The whole "you wouldn't want harmful chemicals in your home, now would you??". The whole "it's expensive, but so worth it". Ok, Donald Trump. Long story short, he spent FOUR hours at my house. The last 1.5 trying to pressure me into giving him a down payment right then and there for a job that'd total almost $30,000. Gave me a line about the grants and whatnot only allowing them to do a one day only offer. He definitely did not want to let me think about it. Tried to show me financing that'd make the payments low, but still cost more. He got a little unnerved at the end when I wouldn't sign up for it. I asked to be emailed a quote. They don't do that. He had an excel sheet running numbers. But blanked when I asked for a quote in writing. Which is funny because at the beginning they say they'll give you a quote, good for one year with no pressure. What a line. He got very flustered and frustrated. And he was the Sales Director! Even pulled the "let me call my boss, the owner of the company..." move. And proceeded to tell his boss that I don't see the value of improving my home. That I didn't understand. Would not relent until I said "enough". It looks like they try to prey on either older folks, or people who just don't know better. In any case never go with someone who tries to get your money right then and there. There are better, more honest folks out there. Update: 11/29/16, the sales guy that came to my house was just in the Middletown paper and is due in court for assault and breaking a restraining order. Received a phone call from this company while I was searching out a window company for my home. Spoke with Dave. I'm already not keen on the idea of a big business like new pro or Anderson, as I am a fan of local hard working contractors. However, I know when doing home projects to interview many before choosing one. During my conversation with Dave, he asks me if I'm retired...no, is there someone else who owns the house with you...yes, my husband. I then ask, are you going to tell me we both have to be present to meet with you? My husband is a lineman, I work evenings and weekend mornings getting us both together is a task. Well yes, Dave says, we aren't gonna drive up in some trashed pick up truck and hand you a card with a phone number on it, ( strike 1) we are much more than that and would like to sit down with both home owners and discuss your options. After reluctantly agreeing on Sunday at 2. We ended our call. Saturday morning while at work I see a CT number pop up on my phone. Knowing it was people's products and I was working I let it go to voicemail since I knew it was a confirmation call. Voicemail left ...I'll listen after work. 20 minutes later another CT number, this time no voicemail. I call back to see if it's the same company, no answer. Another 40 min go by and another CT call comes in. Voicemail is from Dave, apologizing for phone tag please call as we need to go over a few things before our meet up. I call, hi Dave, I got your messages, I'm at work, what is it I can help you resolve before tomorrow. Dave then proceeds to try and change the appointment time. Are you available at 9am? No I work weekends. No, I work weekends. What time do you get out? 1pm I'll be home by 2...our appt time. Oh ok I guess we will keep it for 2, actually can you do 3? Yes 3 is fine. Ok so we will see you then. So what was actually needing to be resolved? Oh you wanted to change the appointment time after I explained how difficult it was get us both together. ...strike 2 Sunday....3 o'clock no Dave from people's products. 3:05 no Dave from people's Products...3:10 house phone rings and we get Tonya saying Dave is running late. Y'ALL SUCK!!!! But actually.... When the salesman came over, I was told that they work on Saturdays, and that window installations on Saturday's were not a big deal. We scheduled an appointment to have them installed on a Saturday, and they never showed up. They were supposed to be installed today. Do I have my new windows? Nope! I called the office numerous times throughout the day, and the salesman's cell phone (whose voicemail box was full). I waited for HOURS to get a call back, and when I spoke to the girl in the office, she lied and said she called up yesterday and said that my installation was cancelled. It would have been nice to know, before I took the day off from work and lost money by sitting home and waiting for windows to be installed. I asked her what number she called, and she was unable to tell me the answer to the question. So basically, she never called up. My call was transferred to someone else, because my original customer service rep didn't want to deal with me. Bottom line? Don't use this company. They lie, and are unreliable!!! read more

I fully understand, and repeatedly stated this to Jim just now at People's Products, that a quote given over the phone is not binding but after going into lengthy detail of the time and effort I am taking to research companies, I wanted a BALL PARK estimate for his recommended HR40 replacement window, or I was asking about the Okna 500 series (which he said he could get). I'll admit that their initial sales visit was a little long (a point I brought up to the president) but in the end we went with them as I think they have a better product than some of the other window companies and their price was very good. read more

The entire leadership team and structure of this company is rather deceptive. The sales tactics are super aggressive and border on unethical. The pressure to buy is outrageous. The sales pitch is an uncomfortable 2 hours long and filled with facts and details that are overwhelming. The sales person who came out to my home even called his boss to help 'strike a deal' for me to purchase. If anyone experienced the Kirby Vacuum sales model, this is about three times more painful. Sadly, there are quite a few comments on the "rip-off' report about this company as well. Not sure why they're so aggressive, but something did not feel right about this company or its approach. Patty was getting my mom all worked up, saying that my mom made arrangements, when she didn't, so my mom hung up. she just could not take it anymore. the next day some of the e-shield is hanging down now. Patty lied about my mom getting a rebate cause there isn't one, cause come to find out, they don't belong to the energy audit. so add to the list of what your not my mom is without a rebate now. I've never written a review of a company before,however, I now know should have reviewed yelp before. Requested thru Home Advisor window companies as the home we purchased the windows were 31 years old. Peoples products came which what I know are all the bells and whistles for the pitch. I had purchased windows before from Home Depot and was very happy. Now living in the northeast felt we needed something different because of the climate. So the rep came did his thing and I said I wanted someone else to make sure I was doing the right thing. The guy actually came back that night in a snow storm. We did the purchase. Set a date. DO NOT apply for credit through them. Will not go into details just be careful. So the windows came in and they put them in on the coldest day. Were putting in 2 sliders also and they had to enlarge opening. Came back the next day to finish. So then the issues began. The windows were not opened until weather warmed a bit. Got them open then could not lock any without force. Called and was told I had to push up top one to close and lock. Still couldn't do it. Called back took weeks for someone to come and move all the locks. Still had problems with a couple. Called again, also the bug guard on one slider was all torn. Took weeks. One slider the screen would not close without force. Called again. Kid came and tried to adjust and couldn't. We both saw the door was installed crooked. Said would send out installer. Made some adjustments door still looks crooked but the screen works. He was supposed to bring replacement for bug guard but he said they didn't give it to him. Called again this time said needed to order it. That was eventually fixed. Upon further inspection found NO bug guard on other door and kitchen window still would not lock. Called again and also informed them about missing bug guard. Waited some more. The kid came with a can of silicone and no guard. Asked what he intended to do with the silicone as the window opened and closed. He finally forced it to lock and told me to leave it closed for a couple of months that the window had to settle. Called again and LOST IT I said I wanted the window fixed and the replacement guard they said it needed to be ordered ( they apparently don't stock anything or wanted to wait till there was other work in area). They decided to send someone from the manufacturer and it was an easy 2 minute fix. Just got the bug guard. Now August 4. All this since February. Don't have any real complaints about the windows themselves and will live with the crooked door as long as it works. Have the manufacture and will deal directly for issues . They told me they carry any window I wanted. That is a lie. They only sell one, extremely unknown window brand. Of course you don't find this out until the sales person gets to your home. Lie! They also told me the windows they sell are the same used in the Empire State Building. Not even close to the truth. Anyone can look this up and find the truth. Why they even say this is beyond me. Huge LIE! I could go on and on, the sales rep was at my house for over 4 hours. When I asked him to leave he simply ignored the request and continued with the demo of this so called hr forty window. I said to the rep. I have never heard of this window. I am only interested in a name brand window like Andersen windows. He also ignored that request and continued to attempt to sell me the only window they carry. The best advice I can give someone is stay away from this company. If the first thing they tell you is a lie I can only imagine the rest of the process with this company can't be good. I mean, a company willing to lie to you upfront right away, what else might they be up to? DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. I got my windows installed by Renewal by Andersen. Windows are in and look great. I didn't get a long fake story about how amazing the window is either.. Should def have shopped around more before selecting a new bay window from this outfit. The salesman, Mark Herbst, was extremely pushy, invading my personal space, staying too long and talking too much. The window I finally received was NOT what I had ordered, and the installers were shocked - shocked! - that I intended to paint it, not that it was any of their business, and caulked the edges using some clear goop that doesn't take paint. I can't believe I paid six grand for this, but to give the manufacturer credit, it's a well made window with good joinery. For that price I expect years of trouble-free use. My advice: do a LOT of comparison shopping before committing to this - you can do better. read more

When I called to check on the rescheduled appointment I was told that they would check. I was willing to give some leeway but never got a call back regarding the issue. Please check other companies for pricing they were 65% more than any other quotes I received.They sent me a salesman who was going to price a new roof but was not even planning on going onto the roof. Used car salesman. Don't waste your time and the only thing the salesman would say is how the competitor is doing it wrong. When I requested someone they told me they did metal roofs and when the salesman got to my house told me no they do not do work such as metal roofs. I thought I was getting an energy audit by an independent contractor. It started out that way but once he hit my attic and checked my windows it turned into a sales pitch. It was supposed to be a 90 minute evaluation. The appointment ended 6 hours later. They try to tell you through demonstration and equipment that their product is the best and your windows are in serious trouble. Think empire floors, they want you to purchase that day. We had 22 windows and were quoted 36000. If we added the attic work 53000. They try to gain your trust and the longer they are there it almost works. Stay away from this place. read more
