The absolute worst service. I go in there to get a battery change. The 2 lazy guys look at each other and tell to charge me 199.00 just to install a battery as they were trying to make up their minds how much they wanted to rip me off. Other than $140/hour for labor which is the same as the volvo dealership, my biggest gripe is that they will try and sell you services you don't need. Before you go in there, please be aware, the guy you are talking to behind the counter makes a commission off anything he sells you. The first time I went there I had an issue that, to be fair, was amazingly difficult to diagnose, their guys could not find the problem. My 80 y/o neighbor is the one who figured it out. He told me what to replace, I ordered the part and took it to the Calexico Pep Boys to fix it. they said it would be $350 for labor to install the part. I asked my neighbor if that was reasonable, he threw a fit saying it was not reasonable and to bring it to him. It took him 5 minutes to unscrew the old part, slide it out, and replace it with the new part. MAYBE 10 minutes. That is what they were going to charge me $350 for. They said they would have to break the engine down to get to the part, that was nonsense. An utter lie. 2nd time... I needed tires. I wasn't planning to return to Pep Boys, but I needed the two tires ASAP, a friend was borrowing my car to go to San Diego. I had no time to order anything. Pep Boys website said they had my tires in stock. I went there and their website was incorrect, they do not have my tires in stock but I could get them the next morning. Fine, I had no alternatives. I should have looked harder or, just waited. I am older, I drive very little. I don't need $300/each tires. The sun does more damage than my driving thus, I wanted inexpensive tires. I don't need to replace them due to tread wear, but instead sun damage. When I originally asked if the website was correct and they have the tires in stock the guy laughed at me telling me they don't keep cheap tires in stock. I asked which tire would fit my car where it IS in stock. They don't have those in stock either. Then he tried to tell me I have a problem with my radiator. He asked... "Don't you smell that sweet smell coming from your engine? It's radiator fluid. By this time I was beyond annoyed and told him no, I don't smell any such thing and neither does he! I told him to knock it off, I'm not having them do any car repairs. He laughed again and said, "Okay okay." When he realized I wasn't going to tolerate more of this nonsense, he stopped. Pep Boys protects its upper mgmt from customers. I called asking for the name and contact information of the area mgr and was told they don't give out that information. But I could write to the generic email address they have and he would get it and contact me. And he did, his name was Chris. I explained that all my car engine lights are on, telling me there is a problem with the tires since they replaced 2 of them. He offered no solutions, just an amazement that there was such an issue. It was extremely easy to make an appointment and they took care of the issue immediately. Great service and promptly response.

Called in to get an Uber inspection, they said I didn't need an appointment to just bring it in. When I got there they said I did need an appointment and it was gonna take them 3 hours to get to my car. I drove 30 minutes after getting the wrong info on the phone. I took my van for a oil change. I asked them to check my tire pressure for the low tire light was on. My tires are rated to have 33PSI in them. When I got my van back all four tires had 46PSI, 13PSI over! They checked my engine air filter and didn't screw the cover back on. They removed and broke my engine shroud and then just laid it on top of my engine without fastening it back. read more

You will find that most Pep Boys throughout the United States average two stars at the most, what does that tell you ?

I was hoping that all the one star reviews here were old and inaccurate but oh boy was I wrong. I called them around 3 pm asking if they can fix by AC by putting the AC liquid in my car. It's a easy process but I'm clueless when it comes to cars so I thought it's better to just bring my car in to a shop. The person who answered the phone told me to bring my car in and they'll take care of it. I came in around 4 pm. They told me that they are unable to help me today and if I bring my car in tomorrow then they'll take care of it... Their words did not match their action at all. For a big cooperation like this this shop needs to be investigated by their internal affairs unit. I talked to three guys from this shop and neither of them looked like they wanted to be there. The shop was empty, not busy at all and they did not Make me feel welcomed whatsoever. 1- star for customer service. 1- star for the location- you can literally see the border from there and it's a shady area, so beware of your surroundings. Go to a different pep boys- I went to the one in el centro right after. Only one guy was working there but he was extremely helpful, most importantly he seemed like he wanted to be there and that he actually cared about his job. read more

Shortly after my last review 2 months ago Pep Boys contact me through the Yelp app and asked me to email them for some contact email so I am doing a 2 star review based on them attempting to make the problem right however the car is sold I now have a 2017 Ford that I will only purchased tires (when needed) and have service through Americas Tire, never again will I buy tires from Pep Boys. read more

My family and I have been coming here to get oil change, brake change, etc. since I was very little. They are quick, very efficient and professional from my experience. I like how they give you a call once everything is done. I live in San Diego for the last 5 years and everything is so much more expensive when it comes to cars. I try to get things done here when I'm back in the valley to visit family to avoid paying so much more. I just recently got my two front brakes change and everything came out to about $200. Pricey but cheaper than what they quoted me in the car shop in San Diego. read more

I would reccommend going to Pep Boys in calexico any day of the week. i went in there with a few concerns about my 00 honda civc, and i was not entirely sure about what to do. But, Marco Hurtado led me to understand my car's electrical system and drive off safely with reassurance with newly purchased lug nuts. On July 25th I called and the person said me the parts are in the Truck and need to be unload and put in the system.
