I had a fantastic experience here at pep boys. I had been dealing with a flat and swollen lugnuts galore, and between AAA and the very unhelpful experience I had at the Sam's Club (#ALLshade), they were so very profesional about getting everything I needed taken care of. When I called I explained the predicament, and I was helped by Tony. He answered every question and realistically walked through what I needed to know with me. He got me scheduled quicker than I had hoped, and when I asked if I would be able to drop my car there overnight he said they would see if they could even see us sooner. (I also wanna just side note here that Tony said he couldn't promise, but he was gonna check on his team since it was so hot and it was the later afternoon. Firstly I appreciate the candor, and secondly I really respect him taking a moment to check in on the crews wellbeing. That really important to me as a consumer.) I wasn't super hopeful, he was able to look at it and got it taken care of so quickly! Tony was very validating in our annoyance with the other parties envolved, and took the moment to listen and explain everything in a non-patronizing way. All told, it must've been less than an hour we spent there which is leaps and bounds better than the week and a half Sam's quoted me (again, F off Sam's.) Went for an oil leak, left with only an oil change: I should have looked at reviews before coming here as several people had the same experience as me. Called the lady at the front desk explaining I had an oil leak and it was the gasket. She said it would take 30 min to fix and so I came on lunch break. Ended up she must have not communicated to them I had an oil leak, all they did was give me an oil change which I had just had 4 days prior. I specified it was an oil leak, why would I go wait 2 hours for an oil change when I can go up street and get one instantly. Then I wait 2 hours and don't understand why no one calls customers who have appointments and tell them they will need to wait. So 2 points, they didn't know about cars enough to understand what I was saying was wrong or didn't care to pay attention, and secondly they took 2 hours after saying it was 30 minutes. I wouldn't mind if they called me in advance but the front desk worker doesn't seem to care. read more

Brought my car in asking them to fix it from overheating over 1,000 dollars a fan and new set of tires later and I can't even make it 15 mins home before it had overheated. temp light had came on couldn't even make it home crazy checked my oil again that was checked before and should of been checked in the shop and now all the sudden some reason my coolant and oil is mixed together did you guys really look at anything did you guys blow my head gasket or something and didn't tell me or wanted to let me drive home and have it happen myself whatever it is car is still overheating problem has not been fixed if anything is far more worse fix it like you said ! Either way if my car was properly looked at and the problem was identified and fixed before letting me leave this would have not been a situation is very scary for a new driver let's also mention the fact that before the temp light had turned on I had immediately called when I seen it start to overheat and was told "that's just how my type of car runs " epic! read more

My son went in and they added on the service he was talked into that he changed his mind after being charged and asked to be refunded as service could not be performed that day and would be a week later.And it's been taking forever to get a refund on a service that he did not get done. I called PepBoys the week of 11/20 in order to schedule an appointment for 4 new tires. When I called, I let them know what tires I wanted & they put me on hold - when they came back on the line, they CONFIRMED the tires I wanted were in stock, and I scheduled my appointment for Monday, 11/27 at 3pm. On Monday, 11/27, I got to my appointment and the lady at the front asked if I had a ride - I said no, I was planning to stay & work as you stated it would take an hour to complete. Her response was "well that was before 1 of our technicians called off, so it's about a 3 hour wait now." I consider myself to be quite understanding, but also - why is no one contacting customers letting them know the wait has tripled beforehand so I didn't waste my time driving 25 minutes to find that out and reschedule anyways? Continuing on, I asked if I could reschedule. She said yes, and set me up for Monday 12/4 at 3pm again. I got to my appointment again & checked in. I set up my laptop and began to work & eat my lunch. 20 minutes later.... the same lady approaches me with my key in hand and tells me that she has some bad news. Immediately, I am curious to know what's wrong now. She tells me that they don't have my tires in the warehouse anymore & explained how she looked and tried to find similar brands with the same mileage and pricing but no luck. Sooo, they gave my tires away to someone else after I made the appointment 3 weeks in advance and CONFIRMED they had what I wanted at their location. I had been inconvenienced not once, but now twice, they didn't have any solutions to propose and gave me my key back to leave. She mentioned how the 'system is flawed' and there wasn't much she could do. Needless to say, I am beyond disappointed with the lack of PepBoys customer service. The fact that the staff confirmed my tires were there, ONSITE, and then rescheduled my appointment after not having common courtesy to call me to ask if I still wanted to come with a 3 hour wait is ridiculous. Then to top it all off, I go for the second time to find out they gave my tires to someone else. PepBoys has officially lost my business. I am baffled at the way things were handled and the lack of any explanation given except 'the system is flawed.' Both visits were a complete waste of time & I will never go back. I wrote a formal complaint, and the "area district manager" called me and offered a free oil change for the inconvenience. LOL read more

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Rude and combative front desk person, mechanics that can't get a simple job right. Went there twice to fix car, but both times they did a poor job and argued about it. Watch out for the sneaky and completely unnecessary PepGuard warranty for labor they are sneaking into the quote (represents over 10% of the cost). A decent shop should stand behind their own work, not outsource responsibility onto a costly (to the customer of course) third party. I am updating this review in light of new information. Besides having Pep Boys replace my spark plugs, they also told me I needed my valve gasket cover replaced, which I agreed to. Only a couple of weeks later, my check engine light came on and my car started shaking. My car is currently at Christian Brothers and they just asked me if I had my valve gasket cover replaced because it was installed wrong and all my spark plugs are covered in oil. There may also be an issue with my ignition coils. I am beyond angry. I do NOT recommend going to Pep Boys in Comstock Park and I never will go there ever again. Horrible. read more

I went to two AutoZones prior and both places were unable to help me (I needed diagnostic codes run for my check engine light). I have come here a couple times now for new tires and brake problems. Not only did they get the job done in a very timely manner, they were very through about explaining the problems with my car. They didn't hassle me to buy little stuff that I didn't need (especially because I am not super familiar with cars). As a woman, I feel very welcomed and comfortable with the staff and can count on them if I need any work done on my car. I would highly recommend this location. read more

Scheduled an appointment(Alpine PEPBOYS) for my husband's day off to have brakes checked and a tire fixed before winter sets in. The tire goes low every couple weeks and my brakes make a grindy noise if coming to a hard stop but still work fine and no sound at other stops. Appointment was at 830 on a Friday-November 30th, they tell him around 11 they don't have the right calipers, the computer say they are correct but they won't fit without disconnecting my emergency break. around 130 they tell my husband they can get some from Hyundai by Monday. We only have 1 vehicle. So he states go ahead and disconnect the emergency break and get the work done. 3pm finally done with the work. We can hear a rub sound the whole time the car is moving, It makes a sound like cards in bike spokes when I put car in reverse, My brake pedal goes 3/4 the way to the floor before I feel the car respond to my pressure, it makes the same grindy sound I heard before the brakes looked at everytime I use the breaks, and today 12/13 the tire I asked them to fix is low again. $1300 to sit all day with a scheduled appt and the car is worse off then before I went there. read more

Love the convenient hours and coupons for service, but have had multiple negative experiences with customer service. Most recently I dropped my car off in the evening, and requested I be contacted with an estimate before any work was completed. I never received a phone call the following morning, and when I called the store in the afternoon to see why my car had not yet been handled, I was told it was actually ready for pickup. So not only had I not been called about the work, but I also had not been called to come get it. read more

Horrible service. These people do not want to do there jobs at all. Went here to have a tire replaced the person at the counter had a attitude the whole time. I had a blowout and rode the rim for like a block or so so he was telling me oh you're gonna have to replace the rim. I'm fine with that but you're not gonna add this into the price before you even look at my car. Then took my car in I almost wanted him to replace the lug nuts on the tire as well. When I first came in I said this and he actually quoted me the price of the tire and nuts. So I left the store because he said it would be a while. When I came back my car wasn't ready after he told me an hour. When they finally get me my car he comes out and tells me they didn't put the new lug nuts on the car so I asked why and he has the audacity to say "WE FORGOT. didn't even offer to take it back in so I'm like well imagine the bolts you're forgetting to put back in people's engines. Incompetent! Stopped in for an oil change and tire rotation. 5 minutes after leaving I stopped for gas and realized they did not rotate my tires. The guys here treated me well. I've been here a few times and they always seem to do quite well by me. My car's got a lot of miles and I've been to a lot of shops. Back in May I took my vehicle to them for a power steering issue. They forgot to secure the lug nuts in my driver's side wheel. I discovered this when it began to rock loose on the highway. I secured the wheel and spoke to the manager who was very apologetic. This week I took it back in to them for some issues with unreliable starting. I asked them to do an oil change while they were doing the engine diagnostic. They came back with some sensor issues and I told them to do the repairs... $1000 later and I tonight I check my oil. They never did the oil change. God knows what else they neglected to do. They are overpriced and downright dangerous. The things they neglect to do could damage your automobile or cause you to get into a severe accident. Never again will I step foot between their doors, and neither should you. Heaven forbid I hadn't caught my low oil levels and had driven for another 3,000 miles. What if my driver's side tire had come loose before I got off of the highway? Criminals. If they didn't do the oil change ,but charged me for it... How can I be sure that they did ANY of the work that they charged me for? How can I be sure that they didn't MAKE WORK by ensuring me that I needed repairs that I did not require? read more

I go to auto-zone to find some small nuts for the wires connected to the base of my car. I go in and no one even asked if I needed help. So I just walked out after I couldn't find them. I walk into pep-boys and instantly I'm overwhelmed by how big the store is, but immediately Gabriel asked me if I needed help. I showed him the old nut that was stripped, and he took me right where they keep them. Not only did he help me find them he even offered to come put them on. It's cold out so I declined the offer. So I did it myself and they are working perfect. 5/5 visit will definitely recommend to family and friends. read more

Do not take your vehicle here! I would give this place zero stars if possible. My battery and alternator needed to be replaced so I took it here cause it was close and I had to have it towed. They broke my hood patch off. When I got on the hwy, my hood flew open; they had used bungy cords and it did not hold. I almost caused an accident on the hwy & my car was not able to drive in this condition. I then called and spoke to the person who repaired my car, who was also apparently the manager, and he claimed it was broken off when I brought it there. That was not the case! They continued to deny they had done this and I got no where with them after the $500 I just spend on the battery and alternator. I then had to take it to a body shop who happens to be a coworker and is always honest. He advised me that my car needed over $3,000 in repairs as the bottom of my car was falling apart and my engine block was barely holding up along with completely wore out brakes and a bad serpentine belt. My friend also advised me that my car is not safe in any way and that the repairs were also not worth it and that I would need a new car. Needless to say, any moron should have seen this immediately and advised me before charging me $500 for a battery and alternator that did me no good as I am no longer able to drive this vehicle. Now I'm out a car and the $500 of repairs I spent at pep boys. How they could have continued to make those repairs and allow me to drive off in such unsafe conditions including the broken hood is beyond immoral. I'll be contacting the better business bureau. I strongly advise you to never take your vehicle here. Any car repair place should be knowledgeable enough to not only have seen these problems, but also to not continue to do the work and let someone drive off in that condition. It was dark and very snowy during my one hour commute home from work this past week. I noticed that it was much harder to see than ususal and realized one of my headlights had burned out. It was getting late and the weather report was the same snowy one for the next few days. I called the Pep Boys on Alpine Ave. in Walker MI and spoke to someone named Jared. He told me that they would be closing about 30 minutes after my estimated arrival time and all the technicians were booked. He also told me not to worry, that he would take care of fixing my headlight himself though the process would involve going in through the wheel well and was quite complicated. When I arrived at the store Jared was expecting me and immediately took care of the problem. I was so relieved and grateful. Jared was extremely kind and helpful. It is rare to find such amazing customer service these days. I would highly recommend using this Pep Boys location - and you may want to ask for Jared! read more
