One rep (Carl)said a tech won't get to my vehicle and within 20 min of picking my vehicle up, another rep (female) lied and said a tech drove my vehicle up "70 mph" and didn't find anything. Booked an appointment online and chose the option to wait with my car. The day before, I get a call asking me to either reschedule or drop my car off early and leave it because they only have two technicians. I was told booking online just allows a lot of people to book without the shop's capability. A lot of the times were greyed out and they had one in the afternoon (that I picked)- so this shop is (apparently) unable to block out appointments they can't handle. Sounds like something the owner should be made aware of, as most customers like to book online. More likely- this shop doesn't like to adhere to appointments (as evident by the other reviews). A lot of shops are like this, they just want to have your car all day and set their own schedule. That's fine, then block out all your appointments and state that on your website. Calling me the day before wastes my time to get my service done somewhere that will honor appointments. read more

My tire light illuminated on my dash, so I wanted to get that checked out ASAP! I went to the Pep Boys on Skibo. However, they didn't have the testing equipment needed for my car. So, it was suggested that I come to this location to have my car checked out. I was in and out in about 10 minutes or so. One of the guys working, sorry didn't get his name, checked out my car and was able to address the issue. Great experience and customer service. read more

Their employee backed my car into another vehicle and now after almost 6 months let the claim go to collections... On February 21st a pep boys employee backed my car out of the bay and into another car. I called the police and got the claim started. The manager on duty at pep boys promised "they would take care of me and my car no matter what and were so sorry". After 6 weeks of calling pep boys corporate and trying to be nice about it, giving them a chance to fix it without my insurance doing the dirty work they stopped responding. I was moving in another 4 weeks so I started a claim on my side and let my insurance handle it. I paid my $500 deductible and got my car fixed. My insurance told me it would be awhile before I would hear back from them since it was a big company so I have just waited. Today July 29th I received the email that my claim will be going to collections and I will most likely not ever see my deductible again due to pep boys not responding and then putting the blame on the uninsured employee. So one, shame on you for not holding up your "promise" to take care of my car no matter what happened Two, shame on you for putting it on an employee when a big cooperation like that has insurance for instances just like this. Sometimes good customer service is not making money. Don't get me wrong, I've had my car serviced here before and it was great, but today's visit I was thinking about getting new tires for a long-distance trip. The man I spoke with was Roger; he quoted me, BUT, he also went out to check the depth of my tread just in case. Turns out I had plenty of life left in them and didn't need to get tires today! It's hard to find honest businesses and honest mechanics these days, but I can say Roger at Pep Boys stands among the few I would come back to for any job on my car! I made an appointment online I highly recommend scheduling on there website, you will get serviced quicker than the walk ins. My car being standard im always alittle nervous when I see them drive my car, but when the technician went to go start my car I knew right from the start that I had nothing to worry about. Long wait time, poor quality of work, unprofessional and bad communication. I brought my truck in because I had a slow leak in two of the tires and the truck was overheating when I had it idling with the ac running. They ended up replacing the valve stems on the tires with ones that are not compatible with the psi sensors. Now the truck shows my psi is at 0 for those two tires and I'll have to manually check to make sure the tires aren't still leaking. They couldn't figure out what was causing the truck to overheat but whatever they did, made the ac stop working. The truck isn't overheating anymore but now I have no ac. They told me the truck should be ready Sunday morning. About 2 hours before closing on Sunday, I called for a status update and they said it was ready to be picked up. Shouldn't they call and let you know you're vehicle is done instead of waiting for you to call them? When I got the key back, the truck was already unlocked in the parking lot available for anyone to come steal whatever they want. Also, the truck has a tonneau cover and the tailgate has to be unlocked manually. I made sure the tailgate was locked before I left and I found that to be unlocked as well. I didn't ask for them to fix my tailgate, what would they need to get in there for? It sounds strange, but I know someone ended up going through my ice chest back there because I found a receipt in it that was not from me. The only good thing I can say is they didn't charge very much for the damage they did. I Would definitely not come back here. read more

They know all of our cars & we know some employees by name & talk to us like we are family. This location is ALWAYS busy & we prepare for that by allowing them to keep the vehicle (depending on what repairs are needed) over night or a few days if needed because we know we will get taken care of. I call the next morning to verify that they know my vehicle is there and I speak with Andrew who alerts me that there were about 15-20 cars ahead of mine, so I leave them alone because surely they'll call a repeat customer to let them know when they can. Andrew did indeed call & let me know they've finally been able to look at my vehicle & it would possibly be $1,000-$1,200 for repairs because they have to pull something off of the engine to look deeper inside, however he reiterated that there were many cars ahead and they would have to look deeper into it. But once they had a chance they'd give me a call back, at this point I took it as a call letting me know that although there were cars ahead they just wanted to give me a quick update. 2-3 weeks have gone by. FINALLY get a call back from Andrew & he asks me if we took a tire & rim off the car because the vehicle is now lifted in their parking lot. I reply with no I did not take a tire off my vehicle and he alerts me that it must have been stolen and I could have access to the cameras & maybe try the McDonald's next door. However they don't know exactly when it happened or how far they would have to look and weren't guaranteeing they would be able to see who was on camera that stole this off my vehicle. In addition to this I ask if they were finally able to pull my vehicle in the bay to see what's wrong & Andrew alerts me & says well I thought I already spoke to you about what was wrong? You just didn't give me the go ahead if we should proceed? Now thinking to myself didn't you tell me there were several vehicles ahead of mine?!?! I asked Andrew if he could pull my vehicle in & replied he couldn't because it only had 3 tires. I replied do you guys mind putting on the spare and pulling it in overnight that way nothing else is tampered with or stolen off the car. He assures me this would be completed & that Pepboys would be getting another rim from Honda and Pepboys would be putting a tire on from their store (keep in mind with no argument about costs, nor did Pepboys contact police about this being stolen on their property). I even mentioned filing a report and Andrew said there really wasn't a point because they were eating the cost basically. (SUCH A RED FLAG) The next day after speaking to Andrew I call the store about 12/1ish Sunday & ask about the status of my vehicle because we planned to have it towed we just needed to make sure what was promised the rim & tire would be put on courtesy of Pepboys. The woman at the front desk were extremely helpful & let me know Andrew was on his way to Honda getting the rim himself & should be back about 1-2 hours (so probably 3pm). Around 3 PM I go to the facility myself to make sure my vehicle was pulled into the bay over night with the spare on & of course it WAS NOT. So I ask the woman at the front desk why it wasn't pulled into the bay after being promised it would be! (They had no idea what was going on because Andrew obviously didn't relay the message). The girl at the front desk even called him on her personal phone and asked him why my vehicle wasn't pulled into the bay & told him how angry I was, as well as letting him know the officer was there to speak with him to get further details and his side of the story (SEEMED EXTREMELY FISHY TO THE OFFICER AND MYSELF THAT HE STILL WASNT THERE). At this point I'm irritated, annoyed & furious that my vehicle wasn't pulled over night to avoid further theft, no updates for weeks due to Andrews lack of communication skills, Andrews inability of relaying messages. FINALLY, the cop leaves waiting for Andrew (who FINALLY comes once the cop is driving away), I leave & Andrew calls to let me know my car is finally done and is sure to mention the reason he wasn't able to pull my car in the bay was because they didn't have lug nuts to put on my vehicle to put on the spare AT A AUTO SHOP THEY DIDN'T HAVE LUG NUTS. WHAT KINDA BULLSHIT. I firmly believe that someone at Pepboys took these items off my vehicle & Andrew at something to do with it. Not only because I was given the run around, but also because it took him forever to get a rim (almost like he was trying to buy time for himself) & the way camera pointed at THAT side of my vehicle being almost similar to a blind spot, & just weird to me that a company eats the costs of a rim & tire with no fuss. read more

Customer service is as polite as you would expect. Unless you have a scheduled appointment they have no idea of when they are able to help you. I purchased Cooper tires at their recommendation. Within 6 months one tire completely blew out the side walls on the highway and 2 others struggle to maintain tire pressure above 25 psi. While out of town and using their "Warranty" it was one of the most painful experiences that I have been through, showing how truly lazy and unwilling to help they truly are. On my second vehicle, I also purchased new tires around the same timeframe. One tire began to separate on the inside creating a large bulb. This bulb caused the vehicle to be unable to drive at speeds over 25 mph. Same issue when trying to have the vehicle worked on, the staff was extremely unhelpful and required you to call to obtain warranty information, then after you obtained the information, they would call whoever you spoke with to verify that information. I do NOT recommend Pep Boys at any location. Unless you are okay with anytime you need work done, you drop off your vehicle in the mornimg with the possi ility of MAYBE getting it back before closing...maybe! I would recommend going to a dealer where you are more likely to have better service and better care. Do NOT use Pep Boys. read more

I came to see what was the issue with my car not being able to start sometimes. They tell me it' might be the starter I would have to pay a pretty penny almost a thousand just to see if it is so I left my car in their possession which is on their lot until I had gotten my funds right. A month and some change later im returning to pay a ridiculous bill just to replace a starter, I notice my car not on the lot anymore so I ask the front desk and they tell me my car was labeled "abandoned" and towed to an impound. They told me they called and they did but they called at a bad Time and also didn't leave a voicemail. While telling me this they also tell me there's a fee for how many days it's been at this "impound" and how much just to release it. They give me a number to a robot that doesn't call back. I call the shop after 48 hours of no response just for them to finally tell me where my car has been towed to. I just wanted my starter fixed, now I'm paying for storage fees and a release fee plus a new starter. read more

Dropped it off and was completed less than an hour later. Staff was friendly, waiting are and customer service areas we're clean. The Keurig in the waiting area was nice to have and there is a big window so you can see as your vehicle is serviced. I was charged for an alignment that was not necessary cause my rack and pinion was bad which can be detected when doing an alignment. This pep boys charged me anyway and failed to let me know my rack and pinion was bad and an alignment would not fix the issue. read more

My two vehicles arrived from overseas and were sitting on a ship for 2 months. When I got them both batteries were dead. Luckily, I had a jump starter and one of the vehicles started right up. The other vehicle, however, started up with the charger on, but shut off when it was removed, even after it was on for an hour or so. My first thought was the alternator or something was bad. I set up an appointment and had the vehicle towed to Pep Boys. They looked at the vehicle before the appointment and said it was just the battery, and not the alternator. They called me and I went to pick it up. The staff was very friendly. If I have other car issues, I plan to go back to Pep Boys where I live. read more

I contacted them by phone, when my online inquiry turned into a disaster. JOE MOSSO not only assisted me, but walked me thru process, had me an appointment. After pulling away from the place, the truck was pulling to right. I know they misaligned my truck to try to get extra service. I took the truck to a valued technician and he agreed. Unfortunately, the car now shakes at high speed; I suspect tires weren't correctly balanced. I cannot say enough good things about this location! Having only previously visited the Skibo location (which is atrocious btw) this Pep Boys redeems the company name. Katy and Andrew were incredibly helpful, going the extra mile to ensure we were taken care of and the Skibo locations mistake was fixed. I came here assuming I needed new brakes because they have been squeaking really bad for a good minute. I did have to bring the wheel lock key because it wasn't in my car. They called me and told me my car was ready so i assumed that everything was taken care of. I get there and they tell me there is nothing wrong with my brakes. I ask why they are squeaking so bad, I am told that it has something to do with the break pads. I feel it would have been more convenient to explain all this too me over the phone and offer me the option to change my break pads. Nothing was explained or offered to me until I asked, mind you I am 24 and i know nothing about cars. My mother also said that the amount I paid for my front break pads was pretty expensive as well. read more

I made appt for Saturday at 2pm and arrived at 1:45. I ended up leaving after 5:30pm!! What a way to blow a beautiful afternoon away. The lady at the front desk told me around 4:30pm that she 'accidentally put my paperwork in the wrong box' and nobody knew I was even there. Fast, friendly, and fairly priced. Offers military discount. I don't know that anyone ever wants to have to use an auto repair services but This location will be my Go-to for all future services. Don't forget you can book your appointment online without having to call during business hours. We were so thankful they were open on Sunday. Each employee we encountered was courteous, and we even received a complementary air freshener in our vehicle with a letter asking for a review of their performance. Had the oil changed in my car, they rotated the tires for free. The filter that was needed wasn't in stock so it had to be retrieved from another pep boys location. I ended up waiting for a couple of hours, they had free coffee, a big screen tv, Wifi and ample places to charge electronics. After making an appointment for an oil change online, I called to confirm it. The lady (Sage) was quick to tell me that the location closed in "exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes" which I was unaware of before making the appointment which let me book one hour before the location closed. I decided to bring my car anyways because I scheduled to leave work early for the appointment . Another lady at the front desk, began to tell me she wants the crew to leave at exactly 7pm due to them working all day & rolled her eyes and sighed when I mentioned I also wanted the tire rotation (which is included). I handed her my keys and told her I would come back to get my car and she told me "to make sure I answered my phone because they would lock up the location if I didn't answer -with my car in their possession-." I got my keys back & told her I would take my car elsewhere because I knew they would rush the work. I do agree, the website scheduling needs to be updated so unaware customers can't book after a certain time but the way the front desk staff complained was so unprofessional. read more

I was heading from Myrtle Beach home to Baltimore. My van was overhearing intermittently for some reason. 2 hrs into the trip, 98 degrees outside and the heat on full blast I didn't think I could safely go any further. I found this Pep Boys and they were great from the start. They got my van back within 15 min to service and after about 1 1/2 hrs had run every test and checked every system. Ultimately they couldn't find anything wrong but felt confident I could safely continue on my way. All done without charge and a free air freshener waiting on my seat. I made the 6 hr trip home just fine, using AC with no issues. Something they did took care of the problem, but their customer service took care of me and my daughter making it safely home.
