The prices were fair and didn't leave me penniless. Chad and his staff are pleasant to work with and their degree of professionalism is unmatched. They communicated clearly and precisely leaving me without question on what the issues were and how they would be remedied. If honesty and integrity are important to you (which they should be) then I highly recommend leaving your vehicular issues McLeod's hands.

REALLY Don't take your vehicle there if you have any issues that a mechanic should work on.

We only used this shop in desperation due to no other scheduling option and paid the ultimate price when finally the dealership told us about the incompetence and failure that led to the destruction of our van with only 75K miles on it. Saddest was the awful attitude we got when we made contact - total denial of their failure and rude, rude, rude.

TL;DR -- Motor Man saved my car and therefore me -- from months of frustration in ownership of a…read morebrand new car manufactured specifically to order. SIX star rating -- better than five star. In owning this 2019 Toyota Avalon (hybrid) since August 2019, the Air Conditioning (AC) was the one flaw. 3 weeks after buying the car, AC failed. Taking it back to the dealer(s) did no good. They couldn't find the problem. This was the brand new 5th generation Avalon with brand new cooling system. I knew I was taking a chance, and I got burned. Every time I went to the dealer, I failed to get a real solution to my AC. This went on for nearly TWO YEARS. Later, thanx to Motor Man, I realized the dealer system failed me: they could have fixed my car, but didn't. Then my AC failed again on the drive down to Florida. It was well over 100 heat index so that I was getting lightheaded on the way down, having to stop every hour. Showing up at the Toyota dealer at Fort Walton Beach (FWB) the next to get help did me no good. Toyota dealer had 30 cars (NOT exaggeration) at 7 am on Monday, all with appointments. Without an appointment, they turned me away. Dealer system failed me again. Out of desperation I started looking up "mechanics" in Yelp listings. Destin Imports had the most reviews in the area: they had to turn me away, but they did suggest I could try Motor Man. Motor Man fixed the problem, at last. Joe Weiss, the owner, carefully took more time and effort to fix the problem. It took FOUR days, but it was worth it. I finally had the car I was promised. He explained that my generation of AC being a new design, required to disassemble the ENTIRE front interior of the car, the seats, the steering column, the dashboard, all of it. This was necessary to get to the "box" containing the evaporator core of the car. Motor Man Joe figured that the issue was inside the "box" and the only way to really fix the AC was to disassemble everything to get at the "box" and see what the evaporator core looked like. It took most of two days to get there, but Motor Man Joe was right. The evaporator core was covered over with oily fluid. The part itself was defective. He had promised to close down his shop and dedicate his mechanics to solve this problem for me. He was in earnest, and determined to solve the problem for his customer. To me, that's rare to see from any professional, and worthy of respect. He kept his word, That's the American way a small business should operate, isn't it? He was able to get the replacement part from the *same* Toyota FWB dealer that turned me away. He checked everything while reassembling everything -- this required mechanical and electrical testing every single system in the dashboard, steering, console and so on. This was careful "sweat each detail" work, which is why it ended up taking most of FOUR days. I'm engineer enough not to be pushy of a professional doing careful quality work, and told Joe I was willing to wait patiently. (I would have said the same about patience to Toyota dealer mechanics if they'd only given me a chance by taking on the problem themselves -- they either turned me away or failed to take on the *whole* problem by telling me it was mysterious and they didn't know how to fix it) After he restored my now fixed car to me, there was one small issue of the fit of the the instrument panel. After driving around and finding this, it was a small matter for them to correct the fit. I had the car as it was meant to be from the manufacturer. CONCLUSION: Motor Man took care of me and fixed the problem. My flawed car became a true pleasure to drive even in the hottest weather, as opposed to dehydrating me badly and dangerously. I owe thanx to Motor Man. CONCLUSION, NEGATIVE: My new car had one defective part, and the Toyota dealer system failed to find it. More, they failed to even try. They failed to explain to me that this was a possibility. I'm an engineer, I would have understood and listened. Why didn't they explain this to me? Did the dealer mechanics not know? Did they know it would take two mechanics four days to solve this problem, and not want to devote that much time and resources to one customer. Is it because Toyota itself doesn't sufficiently incentivize its dealers to go all the way to ensure quality? I don't like asking such questions, but doesn't the failure to fix the vehicle invite such questions automatically?

Before bringing my car to Motor Man Auto Repair I had the engine code read to determine the problem…read morewas Oxygen Sensor related. I priced out the parts at a local parts store to estimate cost for the 4 parts (roughly $300-450 for 4 sensors incl. tax) depending on the brand. I was charged $754.60 for parts. The original repair estimate at Motor Man Auto Repair was $1290.53, but the total bill I paid was $1543.62 - a difference of $253, which means I was charged roughly $800 for labor and "fees". What fees??? Additional fees were not explained to me. A labor charge of $200 per hour equates to 4.0 hours to replace 4 sensors. A $150 per hour labor charge equates to roughly 5.5 hours to replace 4 sensors. From my own findings, replacing 4 oxygen sensors on this model car should take roughly 3.5 hours to complete. Ordering the parts and completing the repair took from Friday morning til the following Wednesday. So the bottom line is, I feel like I was drastically overcharged for both the parts (allowing for markup) and labor. And I do not recall being told why the repair cost exceeded the $1290.53 quote I was given. I should have been out the door for under $1000. But I paid $1543.62. I own 3 vehicles but will hesitate to bring either to Motor Man Auto Repair in the future. The staff I encountered are all nice but I simply cannot afford to pay what Motor Man Auto Repair charges for repairs.

Tribbs repaired the vehicle and replaced the battery for a total of $300! I cannot say enough about this great establishment and it's mechanics!

My car was sluggish. The repair suggested - I can't remember the exact term they used - but it was a carbon cleaning. I can't believe how much of an improvement I've noticed. The sluggish acceleration has disappeared and the overall ride is much smoother. Gary has several employees who are equally trustworthy. I apologize, but I believe a special mention goes to Keith. This is the second time I've been to this location, and I felt like they did a good job then too. Both times I've been there, the guys did great work, worked efficiently, offered affordable prices, and went out of their way to be helpful. The managers, Chip and Adam were great and were very helpful in offering the most competitive pricing available in the area. It would've cost twice as much if I went to the dealership. If you have a need for your vehicle, I'd say definitely stop by this location for help. read more

Ad soon as I left I noticed they were a little loud felt unbalanced. I called and made an appointment to get them rebalanced. One of the techs went with me on a test drive, agreed there was a little shaking in the tires and would rebalance them. Corey called and told me two of the wheels were bent, without getting a chance to respond, he said that they didn't bend the wheels. Said it would have to be a very hard hit to bend those wheels....I told him I never had an issue with my wheels, nor was anything mentioned to me before leaving from having tires installed and balanced. He sent me a video of another persons wheels. I picked up my vehicle, still noticed they were off so I made another appointment and comes to find out. They were unbalanced by .75. While they were being rebalanced, I got to see the wheels off with my own eyes, and I took photos, and video. There were two flat spots, one on each rim. It was very odd that the flat spot had no marks from hitting anything, but only a distinctive matching flat spot with grooves both matching on each wheel. I called a few places that fix rims, sent them photos and each one of them told me it was guaranteed done by the tire machine, "TECH ERROR" without doubt, 100%. Wheel was clamped incorrectly, from the inside, casting the damage. Not machine fault, but technician. They all said it was very obvious by looking at the grooves and the size of the flat spot. It was so obvious they said anyone that sees this that knows could tell you. Their own words. I called Tire Plus, spoke to Corey, he denied it could be the machine, I was going to put him on three-way with the owner of one company that fixes wheels. I wanted to make sure I did all my due diligence and do the right thing before I accuse the shop, but it is 100%. What's sad, is the wheel repair felt so bad and angry how they denied damages that the owner said he would fox for free.... It was unfortunate that comes to find out. They are out of state. They have the same name as another wheel repair place in town. When I called Tire Plus to see if they would just help and just remove the wheels from me so I can get them fixed, Cory said sure....30 minutes later Corey alls me, told me James said I am not welcome there lol. And that is that there was no words exchanged, no anger talk or anything whatsoever, just straight up bad customer service. I emailed Firestone but have not heard back. Bad service from Tires Plus.

I'm glad I was smart enough to get a second opinion and went to Tires Plus. I can't believe how the other chain brake store was going to over charge me and sell me parts I didn't even need. I informed him that he knew he charged them double the price of anyone else in the city. He responded, "they agreed to it. He further stated it is the companies normal prices." Here's the lesson learned, don't do business with dishonest people. He had the opportunity to do something to make things right, but chose not to. If they'll do this to a female stranded motorist and her son, they'll do it to your wife or daughter. Bad business.

Initially, everything appeared fine when I drove the RV home. However, on our first camping trip a couple of weeks later, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) alerted after about 20 miles on the road. All four rear dual-wheel tire pressure readings dropped out and never came back. Because this issue appeared immediately after the tire replacement, I contacted the shop. When I called, I was told by the receptionist that it was not something they had done and that I should take it to a Ford dealership. What disappointed me most was that no one offered to inspect the RV or even take a look at the problem. The response was essentially an immediate denial of responsibility. When I arrived at the campground several hours later, I discovered that five of the chrome lug nuts securing the wheel simulator cover were loose and one was completely missing. One of the nuts would just spin and could not be tightened. This is a 2025 RV, so these were not worn-out or aging components. I sent an email to the company's customer issues department describing both concerns and requesting assistance. After receiving no response, I sent a follow-up email asking whether any action was being taken. I still did not receive a response. What has been most frustrating is not simply the mechanical issues, but the lack of customer support afterward. Problems can happen at any shop. What matters is how a business responds when a customer reports a concern. In my case, I was unable to get anyone to inspect the vehicle, address the loose hardware, or provide a meaningful response to my emails. I cannot recommend this location based on my experience. Customers spending thousands of dollars on tire work should reasonably expect follow-up support when issues arise immediately afterward.

Had to take it back to have it fixed with only half of the work completed and not to quality of a top dollar shop. do not waste your money here.

Fast forward to April, I had problems with it stalling. I assumed it was something to do with my fuel system so I brought it in again and it was diagnosed & repaired a day later. They did a great job replacing the battery that was spent because of the problem and changing the oil. They called and said it was ready. They never addressed the problem. When the mechanic was shown the problem. He replied " you can always take the ground off the battery when you turn the ignition off. REALLY Don't take your vehicle there if you have any issues that a mechanic should work on.

I was able to get an appt with them on Labor Day to get the belts replaced. They were so professional and kind to me. I interacted specifically with Dakota and Daniel but the whole staff seems lovely. They're really kind and friendly. I live in Tallahassee but i will plan to get my oil changes in Niceville because of what a pleasant experience I had.
