They said they can't find my account with my phone number so they can't replace it with warranty. I called pepboys customer service where I was told my number is on my account. I called and asked if they can patch my tire the guy on the phone told me if I get there by 8:45pm they can patch it. I got there at 8:20 and went inside and the guy told me no. Great customer service! Just purchased four new tires with road side hazardous warranty and I also purchased a lifetime : balance & alignment packages. Engine oil and filter replacement was also purchased along with a complete flushing out of my power steering fluid system. Soleman A. is the service manager to see at Pep Boys in Paterson, NJ. (The other service managers are friendly and helpful as well but Soleman is "The Man" to see at this location.) Please note: I've come to this location for car maintenance and repairs and never had a problem with their service and work. I believe their pricing is inline or less that with other car repair shops both private and at other large chain auto repair service centers. They are also much lower in cost as compared to O.E.M. car dealerships. read more

I'm writing a review because usually I have a bad experience with Pep Boys but .....I have to say they did a great job today. The service I received was a standard oil change for my car. Usually I pay about 40 dollars. It took maybe about 30 minutes and my car was ready. At first the guy wanted to charge me $75! I told the man (nicely) that I have never paid that much for an oil change. The manager was nice enough to give me the 40 dollar price. The people who work there were very nice. Thank you. read more

All I wanted was a thermostat and a gasket for my van. The salesperson took a very long time to find it and insisted there was no gasket necessary. I asked her again to make sure since I was going far and could not return, she again said no. I needed a gasket afterall. I tried to let some time pass before posting this review; in hopes that maybe I was expecting too much from people. But no. These people are actually trash. Literally the worst place you can bring your car. Had to bring my car here 4 times in a 2 week span. The only reason I kept coming back is because they scammed me out of $600. I came in and told them I needed an alternator, Carlos said no that's impossible I'm going to perform a battery function test to check. I said ok I'll go home and wait for your call. 3 hours later, still no call. So I call back and Carlos says oh I checked and it's the alternator (wow ya don't say). He says we can replace it the part is $300 and the cost for labor and having it towed there would be an additional $300. Interesting because the part online was listed at $175. Hmmm. He said I needed your approval to fix the car part before actually fixing it. So why wasn't I called then? Idiot. The car is fixed and I go. The car stops working 3 days later, same exact issue as before it was "fixed". I call and say that I'm having the same issue, so the car gets towed to this hell hole again and apparently the part wasn't installed properly. Great. 6 days later the issue arises AGAIN! I take the car back and they adjust it and say everything *should* be fine. Maybe I *should* dispute the charge with my credit card company and get my money back. I call and email pepboys customer service and was given the runaround and was ultimately left with no real solution. The "district manager" contacts me and tells me to bring the car back so we can solve this. Yeah because 4th times a charm. Somebody at the store named Louis calls me back and asks if everything is ok. Clearly it's not because my car sounds like it's one left turn away from croaking. He tells me to bring the car back and Carlos is there and looks at it and says yeah you need a battery. I said well you performed a battery diagnostic test the first time I was here so why didn't you tell me then? He said the alternator gave the battery a false charge. I said well I was here multiple times and you never thought to check again? He then said you're right we can give the battery to you at a discounted price. Carlos appears and says I can have the battery for free. I was only stranded on the side of route 17 twice due to your inept work but yes a free battery would help. I ended up having to take my car to a local mechanic to have it fixed properly. This novel was written to advise you to try another facility and skip no pep in their step boys. read more

If you want to waste your time and your hard earned money come to this Pep Boys. The repairs and even just a simple oil change will end up costing you more on the long run with them because they will not do it properly. Came in here for an oil change and they overtightened my oil filter that when time came for another oil change the filter came out with the threads. . . I also got a wheel part that controls the steering here and ever since they "fixed" my car makes has been making a scraping sound in the front wheels. After that experience I will never step foot in any Pep Boys in my life. I guess you live and you learn, some companies are great and others are just out for your money and unfortunately Pep Boys is one that is just out for your money. read more

I had an 8 am appointment to get 4 new tires and an alignment. The store didn't open the doors until 8:05am. I get told my tires aren't there after several minutes of them looking things up. I get told tires will be in at 10, they'll call me. No apology whatsoever for my wasted time or inconvenience. A little after 9am I get called that tires are in. I go right back and the guy assumes I'm dropping car off. NO, I have to wait. So I facetiously state that I should get a discount for my aggravation and inconvenience (wasted time, not to mention physically handicapped) He laughs and offers a complimentary Lyft ride, home and back. Fine. The clock ticks, now it's 2:30(That was a long couple of hours) so I call to see if car is done and after 29 rings, phone gets answered. Is my car done? Yes, he says. Then proceeds to lie and say that he texted me a few minutes prior of which I received nothing. I ask for the Lyft pick up ( It IS a nice complementary service) when I arrive the guy that helped me earlier asked if my day had gotten better (smart ass) So I proceeded to tell the very nice young man currently helping me that the only reason my day was ruined was because I had an 8 AM appointment only to find out that it couldn't happen because nobody was diligent enough and doing their job to find out that my tires weren't there and give me advance notification. He explained what probably happened and was very pleasant and professional. When I get out to my car I see that either a used plastic foot cover or a hair cover (I don't know which) was left on the passenger side seat, totally grossing me out. This all may sound petty to some people, but when it's a chore to go up and down the stairs (no I'm not obese) and get in your car, you have an early appointment so that you're not without your car all day, the least that could be done is that people do their job and make sure their products are there for their customer's appointments the next day. My car is running fine. It actually feels quite nice with the new tires, so I'm assuming the job and the alignment were done properly. Will I go back again? I don't know. Maybe yes, maybe no. It wasn't so bad of an experience that I wouldn't go back. It's just common decency to apologize for the error. A persons time is valuable! Side note: My son booked this appointment for me because he had such a wonderful experience with them in the past. If it wasn't for that he never would've sent me there. He was totally disappointed and ticked off that this happened to me. Makes you wonder if it's the difference between male and female, how you get treated at auto shops. Good luck all! read more

Where do I begin . I took a day off from work to get an oil change ,tune up and to fix a tire that had a nail in it. The guy at the counter said leave the car it's a 3 hour job ,"Okay fine". I come back cars done I drive it home I start hearing a noise coming from the rear tire. I get out of the car the huge nail is still in the tire . They didn't do anything." Okay maybe he missed it" I thought . I immediately call and they tell me to bring it in the morning , should be done in 30 min you'll be at work on time . The next morning I'm there at 8am I told the guy the situation and also mentioned the fact I had to be at work at 9am . 30 min? My ass! The guy said it's an hour job . He said come back after work gave me an appointment for 6pm . I get there at 6pm only to be told that my appointment was at 5pm and they only had one tech guy with 6 cars ! . The frustration started to sink in. The guy tells me bring it in tomorrow before 6pm, that he'll talk to his manager . Finally as I'm writing this review in the waiting area I've been here 45 min. Terrible service. We sent our Mercedes-Benz sprinter to this place for oil change. And they damaged the oil tank cap. Then we contacted them many many times, and they told us to buy a new oil tank by ourselves, which is very expensive, and they will change the oil tank for us for free. Ridiculous! Before we sent our van to this place, nothing wrong with the oil tank, and after they damaged the oil tank, it should be them not us to spend money to get it fixed. Do not go to this place for any repair service, they even can't do oil change properly! Now our van is leaking engine oil all the time! What can we do? read more

This is for the Service Department. I have always had good experience with the Parts department, floor staff, and register personnel. I made an appointment for the $99.99 Brake Special inspection that was advertised on-line (basically an hour of labor). When I got there for my 4pm appointment I was told they were just starting the the 3pm appointments. They had my phone number and Email address. Why wouldn't they contact me that they were running an hour behind. When I informed them that I only needed front Pads, they quoted by $240.00. So I was looking at waiting an hour until serviced, and hour for the service, then $140.00 for the cost of the pads which sell for $25 - $42.00. I cancelled Appt. Bought the pads,and installed myself. Very disappointed on the whole bait and switch on pricing. May follow this up with letter to NJ State Attorney General. read more

These guys at Pep Boys are very professional and courteous and very attentive to customer's need. This was my very first time to Pep Boys and didn't know anything about this mechanic shop although I come and buy stuff here for my car. The moment I walked in the guys at the desk greeted me with courtesy and a hand shake and somehow I became relaxed and erased the doubts lingering in my mind whether they could fix the big mechanical problem that my SUV have. To my big surprised they've done it and the priced they charged me was fairly good!! I am very satisfied and contented to the service that i got from them!! I salute you guys especially those guys at the front desk and may I say keep doing what you're doing because you made one customer very happy. AVOID AT ALL COST! Price quoted by Carlos Restrepo did not include mandatory fees that were added AFTER the work was done. Was told that offer of "buy four tires get one free only applied when maintenance package costing $257 was included". Researched this on Pep Boys website. There is no requirement for maintenance package. When I called back, he said that "once you leave the store, this is not my problem. Call the 800 number." I also had difficulty confirming that the tires would be available. read more

It took almost 2 hours in waiting area ( still here ) came with oil change and tire fix with my company ford F250... After one hour of waiting guy comes out and says that truck is too heavy and cant change oil... It is a big pickup truck and you can get under the truck without any lifting or problems... Alright! No problem... I will go someplace else ... Tire fix... Been waiting for more than two hours , when all mad asked guy that works here whats the status on fixing the tire his response was " were trying to put the plug in " ... FOR MORE THAN TWO HOURS? its a company truck , and i cant touch nothing in it , but It would take me three seconds fixing that tire! Been here couple months ago with my maxima with breaks , oil change , shocks and transmission oil change... They said they cant change transmission oil and shocks because they dont know how... This is completely unacceptable! How can you call yourself auto mechanic if most of the time ure making up stupid excuses and cant do job right! I wish i could rate this place as zero! ​One star is even too much. Went in for a routine oil change, scheduled an appointment for 6p. I showed up at 5:45p walked up to the counter and the employee was like sorry I am clocking out, someone else will help you. Ok... waited for other rep to help me, he promptly assisted me at 6:15p, they took my car in and I kindly asked for them to check my brakes since they said that they didn't have a "tech" on hand they could only check them, which is what I wanted them to do. At about 7:45 the called me to the counter saying my brakes were shot and they could replace them now, which I replied "oh a tech came in" and that suddenly turned an awkward silence, and he showed me the cost.... $1200 for front and back brakes, with rotors... I declined and asked how long it would be before my oil change was done... employee said it would a few more minutes. 8:50 FINALLY done. Great. Oil changed, I happily leave 3 hours later, even though "walk-ins" were helped prior to me, they came and went, I kept my cool. UNTIL TODAY. See my oil was changed on 2/3/2016, I informed him I did. Nope he shows me the dipstick, its gross and black. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS. They take your money, don't service your car, then try to hit you up for $1200 repairs, in which my car DID NOT need.​ read more

Years ago Pep Boys used to be a good store to buy auto parts and supplies, but now with the help they have, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Its like party time there, employees on cell phones, employees busy talking to other employees, ignoring customers, then when you finally get there attention they don't even know what they are selling or where it is in the store. Some can barely speak English. Don't see this particular store staying in business to much longer with the way they operate. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning to get a new battery for my van. In and out in less than 40 minutes. Can't really ask for more than that.

Short version: They took 2 hours and 45 minutes to mount 4 tires and install 1 tpms sensor. They also permanently discolored my wheels in the process. Long version: If possible, I would rank them a negative 5 stars. My experience with the service department was quite possibly the most unpleasant and miserable retail experience I have ever had. I've been a regular customer of this location for quite some time, today however this was the first time I brought my vehicle in for service. Huge mistake. I brought my vehicle to have 4 tires mounted. I was switching over from my summer tires to my winter tires. I had 4 tires that I was bringing to have mounted. I made my appointment for 8am when they opened and my car was taken in at 8:07am. I was the second customer in the service area. My car was not completed until 10:45am. Yes you read that correctly. It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to have 4 tired mounted and 1 tpms sensor installed. Absolutely astonished. The price I was quoted was 30% higher per wheel than was listed on tirerack.com. When I brought this up I was told there is a higher charge for 20" wheels which was wholly inaccurate. I eventually was charged the listed price after I declined a wheel alignment that they tried to sneak in on my service order. I tried to be patient. At approximately 9:45am I inquired about the progress of my vehicle status and at 10am was told, "they are working on the last wheel." I politely tried to express my frustrations and concerns but conviently there counter person's English wasn't good enough to understand what my concerns were. At this point, I just wanted to get the hell out. When I exited, I noticed 3 out of my 4 wheels (polished gun metal) had black markings that look like they've been spray painted. It's non removable. They claimed the wheels came in like that. I just spent the last 4 hours trying to remove the markings to no avail. I just got off the phone with corporate and they are just as evasive as to taking complaints, so I will take my fight to the net. People, do not patronize this retail establishment. I made the mistake of trying to be supportive of a local establishment. I now know better. read more

They just lost a good customer. I made an appointment online, got there and told me the online system does not know they got only two mechanics. I make another one right there for the following day, make it on time and they say I'm not in the system. Awful. Never again. I have done all kinds of things there, changed 4 tires and they actually broke two tpms sensors, but I kept on coming, tires to be fixed under road hazard program with a nail in would take 3 hours there waiting, twice, then wife's car oil change, battery change and so on. I went this time because the battery with a 3 year free replacement tested defective after 1 year by the dealer and this is what happened. Visited two other locations after this scheduling fiasco, one didn't have any or time to do it, the other was backed up with 3 hours of wait, I saw 8 work orders on the table. First of all their system is not interconnected, if you want to use a different location you are not in their computer, better have your receipt. Second of all they are understaffed in most places, their scheduling system is ridiculous and you will waste half a day there. I trashed the battery, the warranty going somewhere else and getting another. Don't care. It's been wrong since day one. read more

I made an oil change appointment online, got the confirmation email and thought everything was great! That was my mistake, I get there, wait in line to state my case and to my surprise the service man couldn't find my information. I told him I made the appointment online and I had a confirmation email with tracking number, another service man was standing next to him and loudly said "I don't want another one today" I was speechless what did he mean he didn't want another one? I didn't think he had a choice in the matter since it is his job to help paying customers. Mistake number two. The man helping said that there was a long line and that I wouldn't be helped today, even after I clarified that I made an appointment and got confirmation he didn't care. I asked him what the point of making an appointment is, if I wouldn't be serviced? All he told me was that the computer doesn't account for appointments made in store, which I find absurd considering this establishment has been around for years and undoubtedly should have it all figured out by now or at least attempt to provide a solution for an error on their system. I waited to see how they would accommodate me, they both avoided eye contact therefore I left. I had never been in a Pepboy but had heard good things about them, all lies since I witnessed their lack of customer service and common decency firsthand. read more

WORST PEPBOYS EVER! DONT USE THEM. I took my car here to get some new tires. After removing the tire all of sudden my Tire pressure monitor wasn't working so they changed it too. I figured when they were removing the tire they damaged it because it was fine when I drove the car in ! When i got my car back the TPS light was on and they told me it would go off after a while. I didn't think this was right but I believed the guy at the counter. Days later the light was still on . I took my car to the dealer ..they charged me 350.00 to fix what pepboys did. I took my dealer bill and the broken part they installed to pepboys to talk to the manager and get a refund for the part THEY installed ,THEY could not calibrate, and never worked! They said they wont give me a refund. they said the part they installed was not what I brought to them! WHAT, WHAT! It was the only TPS in my car that wasn't installed factory , the only one they touched! Screaming, I left to store and put a stop on the payment! They really don't know what they are talking about or doing and i will never take my car there again! read more

Arrived at 11:30 A.M. for a scheduled appointment for Pep Boys Service for a Free Brake Check. When I arrived I told service where my car is at and I gave them my keys. Waited an hour and looked through the mirror and didn't see my car. Then I waited another 30 minutes no sight of my car; but what I didn't understand was that there were multiple garages with no cars inside them. Service techs walking around rather then working on my car. Another hour passes by and my car still isn't being serviced, but other customers are being serviced while I'm waiting as five customers come and go having their tires changed, oil being changed, engine being checked and still I'm waiting for nearly two hours at this point. Finally at 2 P.M. my car is being serviced a service tech comes out lifts my car then takes out a flash light flashes here and there and then walks away. I wait 20 minutes until I get the results of a check that lasted a minute and a half. It's 2:20 P.M. and they tell me "Your breaks are fine" "Wait a bit until we bring down your car" I waited another 10 minutes watching as the service tech's are messing around eating while I'm here 3 hours still waiting. Left at 2:30 P.M. with no paper work of servicing being done. 3 Hours for a Free Brake Check. 3 HOURS!!!!! Worst Customer Service I've ever encountered!! read more

Man I have no idea why I came back to this location. my first time was in the service department and there was absolutely no communication between the technician and the service person. They have a window so you can see the technician work. The technician puts on a couple of bolts on the tire, take a 5 minute break and then tightens the bolts. but that was about a month ago. This time I purchased a product and then immediately returned it because I was not comfortable with their return policy. After they accepted my return they call me 10 minutes later accusing me of giving them a different product. What a bunch of thieves... i knew i had a gut feeling about them and It was right. Man karma will come back to get you criminals. After telling them that to check the receipt and they could see that I literrally just bought it and did not open the box, then they said okay fine. Corporate needs to check this place out because forget mentioning their apathetic attitude, laziness, and lack of communication, they are crooks and liars.
