They got me in quickly, repaired the valve stem, mounted the tire properly, and even put my spare back into storage, which, if you drive a Ford F-150, you know is no small task. Now I have to take my car to the dealership to get it fixed for whatever the hell is wrong with it. God only knows what they have done to it probably trying to turn a profit for themselves- little did they know I will never bring it back there ever again for anything. Worse customer service ever. Gentleman would not give me his name and then called the police stating I would not leave the premises. Police showed up and advised that I contact the BBB about my experiences. I had a 9:00 am appointment over the phone with John (who mentioned I would be taken care of even though he would not be there until 10:00AM). I arrived right on time. The service advisor (in a Black unmarked shirt) said I would have to leave the car there all day due to not having enough employees and the 8:00am jobs were about 12 hours total between the two of them. I asked for his name and then he assumed I was trying to get someone in trouble. He asked me to leave and when I asked for the District managers name he walked off and asked me to leave again. When I did not, he called the police as if he was scared of me. Mind you I am a 150-pound woman, and this was a 400-pound man who acted like I was going to do something to him because I wanted his name and the District Managers name. After the police showed up, he issued a trespassing warrant because that is what the service advisor wanted. But spoke to me privately, apologized profusely and instructed never to come back to this location (there are 10 others in this area) and also told me to contact BBB and file a report. This was so unnecessary and waste of the county resources as I posed no threat to this gentleman. I overheard him say is name was Mark over the phone, but when I went to another location they knew of no one named Mark at this store. I don't think the online appt's and the stores calendar jive very well nor by calling and speaking directly to anyone at the stores. Its best if you go in and speak directly with a person and by all means get their First and last name. I still have not gotten a call from Store Manager Josh or District Manager Dennis Losata. (I fact checked/verified all repairs needed). They get you in as quickly as possible and understand I don't have Facebook or I would have left a review on their website... Some reviews are negative, but people fail to realize these Men didn't set prices or policy. They didn't break your vehicle. Cut them some slack. They work in freezing/sweltering conditions and Bay doors are not allowed to be closed unless temp reaches -25 degrees. In a time crunch. The night before we made an on line appt to bring a car in for servicing, the entire day was open for on line appt's. We chose 9 am and were there right on time. The service advisor said we would have to leave the care with them, they couldn't get to it right now. I thought that is why we made an appt. We only had one car and that didn't work for us. Last year they changed my front tires at a reasonable price. I asked that they check the bearings on one side. They changed them and I continued hearing a grinding noise knowing something else may go bad. The same bearing went iut and also destroyed the rotor. Went here 2 weeks ago to get a tire service and the kid that put the tires on didn't put weights on 3 of the wheels. As I'm driving to work the next day my car starts vibrating violently. Took it back that same night and they discovered their mistake but also discovered that my front tire rod was now broken. Crazy thing is they wanted to charge me 300 dollars to fix the tire rod now. I called corporate and they said the manager would contact me soon to resolve the issue. 5 days later nothing. Called corporate again and the manager told them he called me which he didn't. I got his number and have been calling him and leaving him voice mails for the last 2 days with no call back. I will never again trust these people with my car. I have been a long time customer and have never had any issues until yesterday. While the techs did a great job on my car the customer service person LEAH was absolutely rude and unprofessional. I asked her if I could pick up my car in the morning and she told me with a clear attitude that it's the end of her techs pay period so pay with the mobile pay option "so her techs can eat".. Unprofessional..then when we ask what was done to the car she rudely hands us the receipt and says "just read this" when asking for further explanation about the receipt and what I was paying almost $2,000 for she obviously doesn't know and yelled at us saying "she didn't work on the car" and "idk her boss is in the hospital with her daughter." While all of that may be true I find it extremely rude, unprofessional and unhelpful the way LEAH handled the situation and will NEVER use or recommend this place to anyone! As the customer service person who represents the business she did an absolutely trash job at representing the company and I hope she is not a reflection on how the company operates as a whole.I personally work in customer service and know that there is a way to carry yourself and the situation when you get frustrated and clearly she did not learn this in her training. I am very unhappy with my experience and find it very displeasing that she was so unprofessional. read more

HONEST MECHANICS I am from Louisiana. My wife and daughters were on their way home from the beach today when the plate covering the oil pan came loose from underneath my daughter's car. The car had to be towed from the interstate to Pep Boys. I was sure this was going to cost a fortune, because my daughter assured me that it was "leaking oil." I also pretty much assumed I would be making the eight-hour round trip to pick the car up in a couple of days. Pep Boys fixed the problem in less than an hour; they bolted the plate back on. There was no oil leak; my daughter thought the AC runoff was oil. She's seventeen. The labor cost was $22. I couldn't buy my family dinner at McDonald's for $22. Being four hours away, I wasn't in any position to argue if they replaced the oil pan and ordered a new shield etc., etc. and charged us $900. But they just did what was needed and got my wife and daughter back on the road for a way more than reasonable price. So thank you to Pep Boys for taking care of my guys. After driving across the country from California ( approx. 3000 miles) I knew that I should have my oil changed. I went to Pep Boys because I had used them before only for a light bulb change and the service was awesome. (that was in CA) I trusted that the same would hold true for any Pep Boys. I asked for oil change and overall inspection, tires, etc. as I want to be sure to keep my car safe and in order so that it will last a long time. It's a 2012 with 45000. It had been my company car and I got it when it was new. When I retired a few months ago I bought the car because I love it and know that it had been maintained according to the fleet car standards. All of the staff at the store treated me very well, made me feel welcome and appreciated by the friendly conversation, etc. I had to wait and even went to lunch and returned because of the time it took. During the thorough assessment the mechanics found that my battery had corroded and even started to damage the cables. They replaced the battery and thank goodness were able to salvage the cable. If not, it would have been very costly. Then they showed me the air filter and cabin filter. I was so aggravated to see that the original filter was in there, and I've had the car since 2011! (Lesson learned, make sure to check the work done when getting normal maintenance. I trusted the various chain shops that I used - none of them were Pep Boys) Lastly, my windshield wipers were replaced because they were dried out. Living in CA, I don't need the wipers much. Now that I'm traveling in the South, I sure need them now. I have now become a loyal Pep Boys customer and will return to this shop when in the area. If not, then I will find a Pep Boys near me. Dropped my car off for an oil change.. was quoted an hour and 15 before they could take it back, and 2 before it would be done. No big deal, they looked pretty under staffed so I understood. However, 2 hours later, I come back and my car is in the parking lot with the ignition on, yet hasn't been serviced at all. I understand unforeseen circumstances happen sometimes and the timing being misquoted wasn't THAT big of a deal... but the fact that I walked up on my car running with the keys in it in a questionable part of town without a mechanic around is completely unacceptable. Judging my gas gauge, my car was likely sitting there running the entire 2 hours after I gave them the keys and left. The lady at the front desk (Amanda) was the least inviting person I've encountered in customer service in a while. If she would've been more friendly I may have decided to go ahead and wait the additional time they quoted, but instead I am deciding to use another shop. I am a "member" of pep boys loyalty club and typically visit this location for all of my car issues. Definitely won't be back. Save your time, go to precision tune down the road! read more

UPDATE: It turns out that when the new radiator was installed, someone had inadvertently left the cooling fan unplugged, so it was not running and the car was overheating quickly at idle (no air flow). When they got under the hood the next day, they located the problem and plugged in the fan. There were enough people waiting for service that the whole process took a bit more than an hour and half. Now the car runs, it is not overheating, the alignment they did got rid of the slight shimmy at 40 mph, and the tires performed well for the whole 500-mile trek. The only reason they are being rated A-OK instead of "Yay, I'm a fan!" is... the fan, which was left unplugged. It's not the fault of the people behind the counter, they were very awesome, especially a young woman named Misty, but somebody back there in the garage is either sloppy or just terribly overworked -- the fan not being plugged back in made extra work for everyone and delayed our trip back enough that we had to spend another night in a motel rather than making it all the way in one delightful 9-hour drive. Assuming the Pep Boys mechanics are excellent, that means overworked rather than sloppy, and that means they need another body in the garage. Good luck, Pep Boys Pensacola! We hope you find your additional brilliant mechanic. You stood behind your work, and we will come back to you if we are in the neighborhood with car trouble again. Hope this helps future customers, too -- nobody is perfect, but a really good shop will stand behind its work and fix its errors if/when they occur. ORIGINAL: They were very friendly. They took the car in for a complete flush of the cooling and fuel systems and their "four way" -- it was going to cost just under $400. They called us back and told us the wire connectors and the plugs had to be changed out, more money, then the radiator was cracked and had to be replaced. By that time the total was nearly $1000. On a 11-year-old car. When we'd paid up, they told us the tires had all dry-rotted and couldn't be trusted. We bought the tires, too -- they showed us the cracking, and we have a long trip ahead of us and didn't want to risk it; the car had been stored for more than a year. THEN the next morning (this morning), with the new radiator and all, the car started overheating as soon as my husband accelerated, and again at idle. We have to be 500 miles from here, and we can't leave because the car has to be brought back in for more work. I will update this review when that work is complete. read more

Employee was nice but gave me incorrect advice and I ended up purchasing the wrong item based on their information. $30 went to waste. I specifically asked if a can extension would interchangeably fit into another can and was reassured that it would. $30 and some dirty hands later I realized the employee lied to me. Instead of having the common courtesy of saying "I'm not sure, buy I can check for you right away" he straight up lied to me to make a purchase. Perhaps he took advantage of the fact that I am a women, but never the less, I deserve respect and honesty as a paying customer. read more

Stopped in because i got a bolt in my tire. I was there with my two teenage boys and 1 yr old niece. Had two employees come out and check it before they even took it back and they both said with my tread depth and the size of the bolt it can be patched. There was a hour wait. We waited and waited. Then the service manager came out and said they put something i the and it made it bigger than it could be to patch it and i needed a new tire. I just bought new tires a few months ago. Well i was told it was a $40 tire. Took them a hour and a half to check the hole then change the tire. When they brought my car back around service guy was rolling up my windows and my drivers door window would only go up 1/2 way. He told them and i told them it was going up and down fine when we got there. The service manager said there was no way I can prove it wasn't like that before I got there. And said they were not fixing it. I in turn told him my car was in their care and it came back not the same as it went back and I expect it to be fixed. He argued with me. I asked for a corporate number I could call. And I wanted his name. I proceeded to pay for the tire that I did not need. I just needed a patch. Which I was told it was going to be about $25 for the patch but then was told $40 tire. And then when i went to check out it some how jumped up to almost $100. Needless to say I was very upset. I was there waiting for a total of almost 3 hours. I called and started a complaint. I was told I would be getting a call from the manager. Within 24hrs to come to an agreement. The assistant service manger ended up calling me. Said they looked it up and the regulator for my window would be $130 and labor would be about $110. But they could give me a 20-30% discount. Keep in mind they have not even looked at my window to see what was wrong with my window. I told him no that is not acceptable. I was not paying over $200 more for something that they messed up while in their care. Moral of my bad experience don't go here. They will take advantage of you and try to take you for everything they can get. And if they mess something up they will not take responsibility and fix it. They will charge you even more to fix it. I do not recommend anyone to purchase tires from this Pep Boys off 4700 Mobile Hwy. I order four new Futura Scrambler tires (Size: P265/75SR16) with Road Hazard and Computerized Wheel Alignment. The website allowed me to make an appointment for the same-day however I needed it for tomorrow. I was able to submit the order online and schedule the appointment for April 7th,2017 (Order# 1164175487). I decided to call the store and pressed option 2 for tires sales just to confirm that they had the tires in stock for my appointment tomorrow @ 8AM, I got Jay who happened to be the store manager according to him. Jay was so disrespectful and didn't offer to check my order number because he stated that the website is not affiliated with the store as well that he cant see orders that were placed with an appointment to that location. I was baffled that he wasn't even able to check he kept stating that he had not received any tires today and I informed him that its obvious he didn't receive them when I mentioned on the beginning of the call that I had just placed the order and I wanted to check if the tires they currently have there may be already there. Jay did not want to check nor did he care. I dont understand how he's even the store manager there Pep Boys is known for customer service and this call was nothing but disrespect I feel like it more of a racial issue because my questions and concerns where simple and they way he was repeating my questions in a "funny accent ". I just received a follow up call from Amanda to confirm my appointment and also inform me the tires were there..... That grind my gears so much. I canceled the appointment and also the follow up appointment that I have for two more service calls for Monday. Down the road from the western inn in pensacola and Kenny was so nice. He helped me and informed me I didn't need to spend 450 just 250 and he got me right in and in a a short period of time I was back on the road and treated very kind and professional by. I chose Pep Boys because they were open late and my car wouldn't start. It was towed there about 6:30pm. The service manager told me that I need to complete a diagnostic on my car at the cost of $106.00. The shop closes at 8pm. But when I got home and started reading reviews and talking to folks, they told me not to let these guys touch my car. So at 8am (time on internet that they open), I called and talked to same service manager and told him not to touch my car. He told me they already had the engine pulled apart (what?) but that he'd put it back together and only charge me half the cost of the diagnostics knowing full well that was not really an option. While I was filling out the diagnostics agreement, he was telling me that it most likely my timing belt that broke and that it probably bent the valves which meant a head job would be needed but didn't want to scare me with the price. At 3pm that next day, I was finally told that I needed a new engine. I had my car towed as quick as I could get someone there. Took it to Runway Imports and by the next day, was told that I needed a new battery and cables. DO NOT GO TO THIS PEP BOYS. When I went back to tell them this, they offered no apology and no reimbursement for the $106 that I spent on "diagnostics". STAY CLEAR. They just want your money so they get their commission. READ and HEED! The national customer service opened a ticket and said they would get back to me within 48 hours. It's been much longer than this. But I'm not giving up. Pep Boys is owned by Auto Plus and I plan to lodge a complaint with the BBB. I've scanned their diagnostic along with the one from Runway Imports and am emailing these forms today. The LEAST they could have done was reimburse the diagnostic fee. I also paid to drive a rental so I wouldn't miss work. These are tough times but you don't treat your customers like this. read more
