Came here two separate times for service. For the first time, I just replaced my brakes and rotors and might have introduced air into my brake lines so instead of bleeding my brakes and changing the fluid, I decided I'd come here instead. The service advisor was Angelo. He made sure I got taken care of as quickly as possible and despite forgetting to bring in my wheel lock, he was able to get the tech to bleed my brakes. The tech also said my brakes are fine but Angelo got him to check it again and bleed it anyways to get rid of any air. My brakes felt instantly better. Unfortunately, the reservoir was completely overfilled when I checked it so I had to go buy a syringe to remove some of the fluid myself. I also saw some fluid near the brake booster so I had to monitor it for leaks for the next couple days. This wasn't exactly the experience I expected. The second time I came in, I spoke to Angelo about getting my tire/tire valve looked at due to a flat tire. It was an hour before closing and he wanted to help but couldn't since most of the techs went home. He told me to return in the AM and he would get me helped asap. I did so the next day and he got my tire looked at, got the valve replaced, and I was good to go. It was a pretty painless experience this time. Shout out to Angelo because I was really expecting poor service but he did the best he could for me. He always kept me in the loop for what was going on while my car was in the bay. read more

AVOID THIS PEP BOYS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS! I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. When I got to the store, I had to reexplain what I wanted. I asked the clerk to replace my wiper fluid. He said they usually don't have any, but he'd see if there was some "lying around." The clerk told me that the service would take about an hour and a half. That was at around 9:40. I didn't get a message that the car was done until around 2:30. When I went to pick my car up they had somehow forgotten to do the tire rotation and I cooled my heels for another hour while they rectified that. They were supposed to replace my wiper blades, but SURPRISE! They didn't have any! I have an Outback, not a Lamborghini. There was a Manager's Special that would have saved me money but I only learned about it when I was about to pay my bill. By that time it was too late. They wasted half my day on all this nonsense. When I gave them a bad review on Google, the "owner" apologized, asked me for info they should already have on file, and told me they'd look into it. But offer a refund or even a coupon (not that I would ever go back)? Nope. They are careless, don't listen, and don't seem to care about the customer at all. With such incompetence, I'm worried they even didn't provide any of the services I paid for. No wonder they have so many bad reviews! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! read more

I feel their auto repair service is like a scam. Pep Boys said my car had transmission issue without proof while other mechanics diagnosed my car and showed me the codes with the pictures. Latest Update: My Engine Diagnoses Report provided and texted to me by Pep boys was automatically deleted after I posted my first review here. Before I made appointment to meet the shop manager named Aaron, the receptionist and the Aaron said when I came back to see Aaron again, he would give me a transmission engine report which would include all the diagnosed transmission engine codes. After spending some time and efforts, I eventually could meet Aaron, the shop manager on Saturday March 7, 2006 about 2pm. When I first met him, he took the key of my car and left. After I waited for a while then I asked receptionist why Aaron did so. The receptionist said he wanted to take your car. I told receptionist, my car was not here. Then, receptionist came in and let Aaron know. When Aaron came out, I asked him, why he wanted to take my car. Aaron said, he needed to redo the engine diagnoses to have all the engine diagnosed codes. I told Aaron, my car was not here. I then asked for my last original engine diagnose report, Aaron said it was deleted. Other mechanics said, the diagnosed engine report without diagnosed codes was considered invalid. Without diagnosed codes, they would have no idea what wrong with the transmission in this case. I have been calling the Pep Boys customer service several times, they always refused to refund me money for doing nothing and charge me $118.xx read more

Our tire popped unexpectedly when trying to return home from a trip. I was in a time crunch and we couldn't make the drive back to our home state on a donut. After calling all the tire stores in the area and driving to 2 different pep boys, this location took the car and immediately got a new tire on quick. I appreciated the swiftness when we were in a bind. The inside has a little side table and coffee bar for people getting serviced which I thought was nice. read more

Listen, everyone knows about this chain of repair places, so no introduction is needed. This particular location has the same problems as many others do- inconsistent timing, work not being done totally right and needed a second drop off, etc. However being able to just randomly show up and drop my car off without being turned away is the convenience aspect that I think makes all of us tolerate the spot. When its really close (walkable even), then its worth it. If I had an insider at a smaller local shop I'd probably go there, but if you are just in a rush and don't know the area well, its fine. I don't know how their retail part stays in business since you can buy everything online nowadays. read more

Yall really deserve 0 stars. They charged me $500 and never put in a new part!!!! They just used cement on the old pipe!!! I honestly wish I looked at it sooner. if you've got work done by them make sure you actually look at what they supposedly did!!! They lost my engine cover and wheel lock. When I asked where is the guy that was working on my car was so I could get it back (wheel lock) they simply said "oh he doesn't work here anymore. mind you he just worked on the car like a day before...they also told me my engine needed to be remounted for $600 + and thank god I decided not to go to them turns out I only needed ONE BOLT that cost $12. Don't go here and find you guys a real mechanic and they need to close this place down. Trust me they will just take your money and try to scam you. Do better Or HIRE better. read more

Not bad. The two guys up front Angelo and Ishma'e are super nice and helpful. Would go again if needed to although i stick to smaller mom-and-pop shops that are generally more honest in terms of pricing and reliable. If ever in an emergency this location of pep boys is decent. read more

Abysmal communication. Dropped my wife's car off to have a brake warning light checked. They did some work on it, we picked it up, paid, and when we drove away we noticed that the light was still on. We brought it right back, and they said the technician who worked on it wasn't there but he'd look at it the next day. We miss the call the next day and the manager leaves an incredibly unhelpful message to call them back. We called back the next day, were put on hold multiple times for up to 15 minutes a piece, went to the shop, and were told the manager wasn't around and that he was probably ducking their calls when they were trying to get in touch with him. The next day, we show up just as the shop opens and the manager still isn't there, and when he arrives 15 minutes late he says what they needed from us when they called two days prior was the wheel lock tool so they could diagnose the problem that they had told us two days prior was likely just a matter of resetting the code. They wasted hours and days of our time by not being transparent with their updates and not available when we called back. We're never, ever using them again. read more

I never use yelp, but I downloaded it to tell you to avoid this pep boys. Don't waste your time. Scheduled an oil change for 2:00PM. Arrived at 2:00PM. After an hour they came out to all five waiting customers to tell us only one employee knew how to change oil, only one could change tires, and that it was the same guy. When we questioned what the other five employees out back actually did he ignored us. At 4:00, after two hours of being told I was "up next" I went back to the lot to check myself. All of the employees were just standing around together - and my car was still waiting where I left it. I got my keys and left - no apology or anything. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE!!! They did an oil change on my daughters car and inproperly installed the oil filter. It caused all the oil to pour out and leave her stranded. The one guy in particular was proactive in getting my service completed when I told them I had been waiting for a while and had somewhere to be. But waiting over 2 hours to get my tire plugged when I had an appointment at their shop for this service is unacceptable. **Avoid this place at all cost** If you get a full synthetic oil change it is good for up to 8k miles. However, pep boys on Columbus blvd will set the reminder on your car for 3k. Customers not knowing will come back way too soon. If your car is under 5k miles a year it is also exempt for emissions. ($10 sticker) those not knowing will be charged the full testing price of $40. All the bad reviews of this place is true. Do yourself a favor and go to a local garage. I am sure these crooks won't be around much longer. read more

Absolutely the WORST company I've ever dealt with in my 49 years! I purchased tires online and had them delivered to my local Pep Boys. Unfortunately, I mistakenly ordered the wrong size, so I immediately returned them. My local Pep Boys told me they would keep the tires, but I needed to call the main Pep Boys number to get a refund. I did exactly that as soon as I left the store, and they assured me I would be refunded. It has now been TWO MONTHS since I purchased those tires, and I still have not received my refund. I've called at least six or seven times, and every time, I'm told the same nonsense: --My case has been "escalated" --They've assigned a case number --Someone will call me back (spoiler: no one ever does) They repeatedly transfer me to the so-called regional director--the only person who can supposedly handle my refund--but it always goes straight to voicemail. I leave messages, and still, no one calls me back. This "regional director" is clearly beyond incompetent and should be immediately fired. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service at Pep Boys is staggering. I am now paying interest on tires I don't even have because Pep Boys has failed to issue the refund I was promised. I've had to file a discrepancy with my credit card company, and my next step will be contacting a lawyer to seek compensation for the stress and financial burden this has caused me. ***DON'T GO HERE*** I bought tires from a different Pep Boys branch in 2022 that came with a 75,000-mile warranty. Two years and 25,000 miles later, I brought my car to this branch with a flat tire. Their courtesy inspection revealed, apparently, that all four tires were dangerously low in tread and needed to be replaced. When I picked the car up, they told me they could not access the warranty information from the other Pep Boys branch and they said I would have to call the tire manufacturer anyway. I paid and left. I called Cooper Tires, who told me that tire model was sold exclusively through Pep Boys and Pep Boys owned the warranty. I called Pep Boys corporate, who told me warranty responsibility fell to the franchisee. After the manager at this branch failed to respond to multiple phone calls over a week, I finally got him on the phone. He said the tires didn't qualify for warranty replacement because they were worn out. I read the language of the warranty, which specifies: 'Tread Wearout: For the mileage indicated on the front of this form, should the tread wear out (2/32nds of an inch or less of tread remaining), we will at our option and subject to prorated adjustment, either replace the tire or give you a refund.' He repeated that the tires weren't eligible for replacement because they were worn out. He would not acknowledge that the warranty specifically covers tread wearout, then he said 'Are we done here? We've been on the phone for 10 minutes.' They will sell you tires you don't need, will sell you a meaningless warranty that they won't stand behind, and they will be dismissive about it when you try to address it. Don't go here, and you should probably not go to any Pep Boys. read more

Pricey and slow service. I made an appointment for a 10AM oil change - first, I was told at the counter that it would be done around noon. That's fine. But then no one came out to the parking lot to get my car until after noon. It's currently 1:01pm and I just got the notification that my car is ready. On top of that the oil change cost me $101 - and in the 11 years I have owned this car I have never paid that much nor have I waited so long for my oil to be changed. Don't bother making an appointment - it doesn't mean anything. Make sure you have plans for something to do while you're waiting, cause it's going to be a while. Or just avoid the headache altogether and find another auto shop. I know I will go elsewhere. The one redeeming quality of this place is that the staff are courteous and friendly. read more

This place is criminal. The front desk person is friendly so it's deceiving in that it makes you think they are actually trying to help people. I made the mistake of taking my car here for a flat tire because my usual shop was closed on Sunday. I figured how difficult could it be patch a tire with a nail in it? How mistaken was I.. I dropped my car off at 9am and they took 32 hours to try to upsell me on a new tire saying mine was irreparable due to a deficient side wall (side wall!?). I doubt they even properly inspected the tire. Before they could give me a quote on a new tire I immediately took my car back and took it to my trusted shop to get my tire repaired. Hello friends, I did not get anywhere with Pep Boys Corporation regarding my complaints of the local store so I wanted to make you all aware. I been going to this location ever since I starting purchasing a vehicle. Buyer beware! Re: 1000 Columbus Blvd Philadelphia Pa 19148 I thought you should be aware of your corporate store's poor performance! I brought my vehicle twice to Pep Boys for a rear driver side suspension clanking noise when hitting bumps. I had an early appointment. I was told the vehicle would be needed all day. Never have I had to wait all day (until 5 pm) especially with an appointment early in the morning at opening. Both times head mechanics could not diagnosis a problem with the suspension. Even after taking a test drive with one mechanic and hearing the noise. I had no choice but to take the vehicle to the dealership and within one hour diagnosed the problem, had me a look at the current alignment, which was 3 degrees off, gave me a cost to repair and a reapir time. I was given a loaner by the dealership because my vehicle was unsafe to drive. The parts needed to be ordered. Upper control arm, left lateral arm and a new dampener/shock. Not only that but the first time they parked my vehicle in a handicap parking spot. Ticket tow area? The second time I also ordered a new tire and during the install my rim was scratched, and left with plenty of tire lube and never wiped off. Unacceptable! Last year, I had an oil change service and they did not tighten the nut, the next day I drove my car to my job in King of Prussia and while I was at work the oil leaked out and I had to have my car towed back to Philly for them to service the vehicle. I was reimbursed however these issues are mounting up at this location and definitely needs to be overseen by someone in the corporation. I recently traded in my vehicle, and the Carfax indicated the last time my vehicle was serviced they recorded my mileage 30,000 miles less than what it was supposed to be. Be warned, this location is bad news. Sorry if you work there,. But, I tried to make Corporate aware of these things directly and got no where. read more

I dropped my car off for an AC diagnostic. My appointment time was 11:30. The lady at the front desk told me it would be ready mid day. The confirmation text estimate time was by 5. I did not get my car back that day. The next day I tried to call and was on hold for 15 minutes. They said it would probably be a few hours. A few hours later I call back and the guy tells me they are taking it in now and to give it about 2 hours. I call 2 hours later and they have not even looked at my car yet and said they would not be able to get to it that day. Why lie to me and say you are taking it in now? Why lie and say it will be ready at a particular time? What is the point of having an appointment time if you can't get to the car until days later? .I reccommend scrolling down and reading all the negative reviews. I read all the horrible reviews beforehand and decided to take a chance with taking my car there because it was conveniently located near my house. Big mistake. An hour and a quarter after my appointment start, I get a call that my car that had never had a drop of oil under it, suddenly has an oil leak so they can't do the oil change, but they can fix it for 2000 dollars! I dropped my car off early at 11:30AM, and at 2:45PM when I called for an update because it was supposed to be ready at 2:00, I was told they were just starting the inspection. About another 90 mins later, of course I was told there were things that were wrong with my car (a 2019 car that only has 20,000 miles on it), but if I didn't pay I would not pass inspection and they would charge me the inspection anyway. Starting from the top, the customer service is horrible, it's just a bunch dudes up front who know nothing about the services they are offering and how long the process is. I requested an inspection so that means i have an appointment, I expected to have my car back in less than 3hrs as there was only one person being seen at the time. I waited 30 minutes after they said my car was done for them to place stickers in the window while also being told it's not my job, I'm not an inspector so it ain't my fault. I don't care who's fault it is or isn't no one should have to wait an extended 30mins for stickers to be placed in window. I highly recommend going anywhere else. They do not value your time and they are rude when you show concern about turnaround times for your vehicl. read more

This was north my best experience. I told the tech at the counter that I made made an appointment for 4:30. She told me I would mostly likely not be seen today. After learning that I had a crack in the sidewall of my tire she suggested I wait for service. It was almost 8:30 before my car got a single tire replacement and a slow leak fixed on another tire. In that time I heard employees being very unprofessional as well as others talking about how they are quitting instead of going to another store. The waiting area was not well kept and there was no checking in with me to tell me what was going on with my car. I will not go back. read more
