Needed to get car inspected. They told me I had to get my rosters replaced so I agreed for $600. They must have reassembled my car incorrectly. Because after they put their hands on my car my car started making crazy shaking noises. It seems they tampered with my strut or at the very least didn't assemble it correctly. They tried to tell me I must have hit a huge bump. Which was bs. They told me I would have to pay for an additional 1500 to get the front strut replaced I said hell no and that it only started acting funny after they touched it. They refused to take responsibility for it and now I'm beat financially this Christmas read more

Took my 2011 BMW X5 for inspection. Car runs/drives great, no issues. They failed it, said it needed new control arms! Quoted $1862 for repair. I said no way, then they said it was only an estimate and they would call after pricing the parts. They called next day to quote $1700. I said no. The called later and said "after talking to their supervisor" the would discount the parts and do it for $1600. I took my car to a station a friend told me about it. They passed it and said the control arms were fine. Would never go here again. read more

Not sure what the use of online system is if u show up and just get put into the same line as walk-ins. Think I'm done shopping there. Oil change and top off fluids on Friday and had appointments for 12:in the afternoon.. Well pep boys were not able to get too until like. 12:45 my car was not working right after they finished with it. And some of my items came up missing. I had went to Walmart before I my appointment. And my items were not the. I still have the receipts to prove of them. And also my extra house keys are missing to. But my boyfriend called to pepboys and was kinda unhappy with the work done they did he threatened to take them to small claims court and since that was said they were not allowed to talk with them anymore..So I went to pick up my car because my boyfriend was rude to them I neither was able to talk with them. 2.5 hours and waiting for oil change. Staff was unfriendly immediately upon arrival due to I had no appointment. Do not ever come to Pepboys without an appointment. Walk ins definitely not welcomed. While waiting during covid times another customer unmasked to enjoy her coffee nothing said to the customer. Customer rearranged furniture pushing chairs closed together. My strong recommendation is to NOT trust these incompetent morons to do anything requiring a functioning brain. I set an online appointment. I told them EXACTLY what I needed done. I selected the option of waiting for the service. When I arrived I was told there were no service technicians there, at the scheduled appointment time to service my vehicle. Now.... one would THINK that any competent human staff would have seen the appointment in the system, realized they were not capable of fulfilling the scheduled service and called the customer. Very clearly Pep Boys does not hire intelligent, people who can read and respond to simple English. Avoid this facility. They are useless. read more

I showed up just before closing on the Sunday before Memorial Day and 4 mechanics in the back jumped on a difficult job for me that was kind of an emergency, at least in my mind. They went out of their way to be generous with their time and the work was quality. Got tires from this shit place, and got a warranty for the tires. Since getting tires from this shithole that a bunch of morons work at, I've had my tires blow out 3 times. They purposely used an impact gun on my lug nuts and stripped the living hell out of one of the lug nuts, so I can have my car towed here and get charged for a single nut. They originally wanted to rip me off $40 for a single Lug nut, and then an additional $50 for a tire replacement. I will be frequently driving by occasionally and I will drive up to the door and get real close and lay on my horn. My bill should have been $0. Oh the icing on the cake is that they had no change for the cash I was giving them so I had to use my card. Because of them stripping my lug nut, I had to wait 2.5 hours for a tow truck because the first roadside assistance tech didn't bring a tow truck and tried to install my spare tire, and couldn't install it because pep boys moron mechanics SUCK. They won't let me come back for service but I don't care, I'm still going to harass them with my loud horn, hell, I'll install an aftermarket horn that's super loud for my enjoyment read more

My wife and I have been coming here for years and getting great service but that has drastically changed in the last 2 years or so. I am not sure if it because of a change in company policy or current management but they insist on trying to sell us wipers with every single oil change. My wife got duped one time and they made sure they sold her the most expensive ones they had, which are about twice as much as the ones we get from the dealer. Even when we tell them prior to the oil change that we don't want wipers they try anyway. We also ask ahead if time to make sure they reset our car's oil change indicator. They never do even when we ask and have even lied and said that they did. I'm not sure if they don't know how or are just lazy but they haven't done it properly for 4 oil changes in a row now even with requests the last few times. I would avoid them unless lazy and dishonest appeals to you or unless you want to pay for things you don't need. read more

Trust the people on Yelp with these negative reviews. The guys running the pep boys in Quakertown are incompetent. We scheduled an appointment for an inspection and emissions and informed them that we needed to wait. Come appointment day, we called in and asked if we could move the appointment back by 90 minutes, but they said no, and that we had to keep our regular appointment. No problem, so we took took off work early to meet the appointment. Upon arriving the first associate decided to leave and told us to wait for another person. Ok, no problem. Finally check in, and we are told that they don't have anyone to service the car today. First... what a crappy customer experience. You drive all the way from work to get in when you are supposed to to be told "nope not today". Second, we received NO courtesy call that they could not do the service... and Third, we called them 2 hours earlier to try to move the appointment to 90 minutes later, and they didn't have the courtesy to tell us then that they had no one at that time. Pep Boys corporate should be embarrassed by this group in Quakertown. read more

Do NOT Have Your Bakes done at Pep Boys! I first had my brakes done in Feb 2013. 6 months later in Aug I had felt there was a problem and took my car in - they told me nothing was wrong with the brakes - I just had a screw in my tire. I went straight from the Quakertown store to the store in Montgomeryville were they said the brakes had to be completely re-done. Now, 1 year later in July 2014 I went back in and said there was a problem with my brakes again - yes, once again the back brakes needed to be replaced. I had the work done and 4 weeks later they started sounding bad again - this time I took my car to a dealership - the brakes had seized and completely burnt out the pads and rotors. When I said that 3 sets of brakes in 1.5 years is not right and Pep Boys answer was mini vans are heavy and burn right through brake pads. NEVER again... read more

This place was absolutely wonderful and I strongly recommend this place. First of all, as a female entering an auto shop, ive noticed a trend of either condescending or rude comments. The first pep boys I went to in my area doubted my claim that I needed a wheel alignment even though I told them the tires were wearing down and the wheel wasn't staying straight. I didn't even bother with that shop. Why discourage business? I walked in without an appointment and Tim was so sweet and helpful. Unlike the other place, he simply nodded when I told him all about my wheel problems and assured me it would all be taken care of. I was going to be the next car on the lift and waiting didn't seem long at all. I brought out my laptop and took advantage of the free wifi. Before I knew it, I saw my car on the lift. Jason was the mechanic and he did a fantastic job. I live in new york, and just happened on this pep boys on my visit out to PA, so the two hour drive home can vouch for his job well done. Vibration and car pulling to the right disappeared. And all for a little under an hour of waiting! Joey, a fleet manager I believe, checked out the car. Even though I knew about the year warranty alignment for extra, I wasn't pushed to get it. Also, I'm always apprehensive when mechanics tell me, "oh by the way, this and that needs to be fixed for $$$". But once again, none of that nonsense. Joey made it simple and quick and I was on my way. Overall, these guys made a simple car maintenance task quick and easy. They were helpful, kind, and courteous; exactly what a pep boys, or any car shop, should aspire to be. Great service deserves great praise, thanks guys! read more

Service always takes forever and last time they did an oil change they scratched my vehicle. Went for state inspection- guy at desk said no problem- nearly four hours later I returned to find out that they can't do it due to the weight of my truck?? Fraudulent company. I went in to have my tires done. After reviewing the receipt, I noticed they charge me $63 in road side assistance insurance that I never signed up for. I went back in and they did refund me but I didn't get a single apology and nobody seem to care that they charge me $63 for something that I didn't request or sign up for. Don't bother making an appointment because I scheduled an appointment to simply get my oil changed and it took them a little over an hour to get my car inside the shop. I was offered help and was greeted immediately after entering into the clean organized store. I needed several parts and was guided and was given advice as asked. I was told about the batteries sale going on and ended up buying 120 batteries for 20 bucks. I was offered their credit card option in which I declined, but it is a good idea if someone is in the business of cars. The nicest employee I met was named Miss Brenda. They spoke with me about every detail when I asked about anything. They made sure I didn't pay to much (and yes I comparison shopped) and they got me back my car in great condition. I was asking him questions and he was telling me answers like I should have known what they were, as well as him putting me down for other things that we had to talk about. I went here because i was driving and noticed my steering wheel was off they adjusted the alignment but told me it would probably be off again because the steering column has a lot of play and would need to be replaced. I did replace the steering wheel because the foam was exposed and the horn contacts did not work causing the horn to be hard to be pushed.I did not think of it. I Thought i could just replace the steering wheel. But anyways good service. read more

Can you give a place less than 1 star? My cars wire on the coil breaks off so I call Pep Boys since it's close to where the cars at. They tow it in and I tell the guy what's going on and he says if he doesn't get to it that day, it'll be first thing in the morning. 11 the next day comes and a guy calls me and tells me that since the wire is off so the car won't start, there is a $99 charge just to look at it. I tell him to not do anything and I'll come pick it up. He then says he can look at it for $49. I say no and he says ok he will look at it for free. 4 hours later I havent heard back so I arrange a tow to meet me there and take it to a local mechanic. When I go in to pay for the tow, the guy tells me it needs a coil wire harness and they don't do that so I should arrange to take it somewhere else! No mechanics here, just parts changers it seems. I got it to a local mechanic around 4 and had it back at 530. Never again for this terrible place. Avoid at all costs! read more

Well, If you would have told me that I would have been writing this rave review six (6) months ago, I would have come back with one bad experience after another with Pep Boys. After 15 years of good service, I felt as though some of the repairs I was led to believe were absolutely necessary like a new alternator were snap decisions poorly made and presented to me utilizing fear and ignorance: I was having a battery dropped into the car ,was told it was done and after I got dropped off so that I could race to Lansdale and My Mother in the Hospital, I saw the battery in my van, right where I had left it BECAUSE although I was told that my alternator was only charging at 12.6 instead of 14.3 on the phone by an assistant manager, the rationale for the mechanic not putting it in was that the new battery could die while I was driving from the bad alternator and void the warranty on my new die hard battery.. I decided to take my chances and had them put it in anyway!. When I got to Lansdale ,with my heart in my throat, I took my van to my parents mechanic who told me that the Alternator Belt was bad not the alternator! I was furious but there was no one person with the authority to stand behind me, the customer. This is one of several encounters that I had with Pep Boys. Many involving compromising my safety. I did have a good experience with Tim and Travis in service.Tim tried to fix the noise and was able to get me a refund for monies I was told were necessary 'to fix the noise'., but were apparently maintenance items that did need attention in the future ,however, I had already become skeptical about what I was being told and reality. I took my car to another mechanic for a bad noise, very similar to the one that frustrated Tim, and the list that I was given for necessary repairs in order to pass inspection, was almost identical to the list of repairs that had been done at Pep Boys within the last 6 to 7 months. My mechanic told me to take his list and my car back to PEP Boys! I was livid! I called and left a message for a manager. The gentleman who I was put in touch with, Brandon Fels , the new service manager asked me to bring my car over and I was happy to oblige! He jumped in my car and brought a mechanic with us that ended up being the mechanic assigned to remedy the problems, start to finish. . It had been discovered previously that due to my husband leaving our house phone number and my leaving my cell phone number, there were two separate records for my vehicle and a 3rd record with a car I had previously owned. I am not easily appeased when I know that I am correct and feel as though I am being taken advantage of AND paying good money along the way! Brandon Fels was determined to turn me into a satisfied customer and went above and beyond to do so! The work I had had done was redone and after realizing that I had bought multiple tires but it was on two separate accounts, also realized that I had not benefitted from warranties that should have been available to me over the last couple years, he took care of that as well. Brandon Fels is a man of integrity , who is not afraid to hold his mechanics to a standard of excellence in customer care that he himself ascribes to. He must be getting terrific support in the administration above him, as he averted a legal suit , as well as, a Pendot complaint by working with me until the problems were resolved. Brandon is also not afraid of real feedback and willing to enter into discussion about staff development and "Integrity' in our workforce. As a former staff development consultant/coordinator, I felt satisfied that my experiences with PEP Boys will provide opportunities for learning in the very near future . I needed an oil change, so I made an appointment. The gentlemen that greeted me was nice, but that is where the good experience ended. The shop was not busy and there were several employees outside talking whenever I entered the store. However, it took over an hour for them to change my oil. When I inquired about how much longer it would take, the same gentleman said "oh, just a few minutes, they are pretty much done". Well, 20 minutes later I saw them take my car outside.....I walked over to the checkout area to be waited on and the girl at the desk made me stand there another 15 minutes before she called me over. I commented on how long I had been standing there and instead of an apology for not acknowledging me, the girl gave me attitude -- it was actually the worst customer service that I have received in the last 5 years. She was downright rude. After I left and went to my car I found that they left my car running (for 20+ min), left grease all over my steering wheel, did not reset my oil light and didn't give me a new reminder sticker. These are small things, but I expect better customer service than this, especially whenever they were not busy. Will never go to again. read more
