engine was misfiring, called them ahead of time on July 4th since most auto shops were closed. they diagnosed my car quickly and didnt try to upsell me at all. mechanic Jason is very friendly and honest and quick to fix the issue, and the service all around was very friendly and quick. would definitely come back again if I need anything else in the future. read more

THIS IS A REVIEW BY MY HUSBAND I'd rate lower if I could. I will try to compose myself in this email, but at this point I'm a very frustrated and unhappy customer. This concerns the Pep Boys location #1525 at 2237 CCNE, in Tallahassee, Florida. On 2/9/26 I took my 2018 GMC Sierra there because my engine light was on. I had already been to Advanced Auto and had an OBD2 check done. It showed codes for a "minor emission/evaporation leak." After the staff did a diagnostic check, they called and informed me my truck needed a full tune up. They also tried to tell me they needed to install a new battery. I declined that because I had just installed a brand new battery at Battery Source just a few months prior. I would have them look at it. I approved the tune up. I was also informed the person that knew how to do the "smoke test" on the emission system was off until the next day, so I'd need to bring it back. This initial visit cost $1,142.21. The manager on duty informed me their OBD2 also showed only a minor emission leak. "Probably just a bad hose". Work Order #2091720. I took my truck directly to Battery Source who said the battery was fine. An interesting side note, after this tune up the engine light was off. On 2/11/26 I dropped my truck off for a smoke test to locate the "minor leak". I soon received a call that the minor leak turned out to be a need to replace several major parts in the emission system to the tune of $1,537.31. Not being a mechanic myself as I worked in law enforcement for 45 years, I could not intelligently debate this with them. I was assured that would fix the problem. I approved the work. Work order 2091748. On 2/19/26 the engine light was on once again. On 2/20/26 I dropped my truck back off to them again. They contact me back and informed me they had reset a clip on one of the components and it was fixed at no charge. I picked my truck back up and on 2/23/26 the engine light came back on again. On 2/24/26 I took my truck to Advanced Auto who ran the OBD2 diagnostic again and got the same code that was there prior to any of these repairs. Which again indicates a minor emission leak such as a pin point hole in a hose. An employee there indicated that probably this means several of the repair done and/or parts replaced were not needed. So regardless of all of this and the total of $2,679.52 spend on repairs the original problem has not been fixed. I am naturally suspicious due to my career, but as you can see from what I've noted above I have some true concerns I was taken advantage of. I have reached out to customer service at Pepboys and filed a complaint and was told someone would get back in touch with me but thus far have heard nothing. read more

Customer service was good very engaging. I was told the tire purchase would be a little over a hundred dollars. My fault I did not look at the bill before inserting my card. Total tire purchase $260.79. The add on were ridiculous. When I got home I called back and was told that is I total package purchase. I did not ask for road hazard warranty; 90 days wheel balancing. I get these items done when I take my new car in for check ups. DONT buy tires from here if you do lay out you want tires only. LOOK at that long receipt first; better still let them know you don't want all those add ones. The guy acted during my call that is business as usual and they add all that stuff because that is their package whether you need it or want it. I wonder if a MAN would have gotten those add ons. I have bought tires from Firestone and they did not pad their receipts! read more

From the very beginning AWFUL customer service very rude at the counter and completely ignored me when I was trying to check in for at least 5 minutes!! Then I told him I have an appointment for brakes only to get pads replaced NOT the rotors as well and stated I needed my tires rolated and to replace a tire I have in my back seat to my spare tire. The tech takes my car and then comes back and makes up some BS stating I NEED to get my rotators done since my caliper was seized (which isn't true I drove completely fine) , then the tech is like it's going to be over $900. I asked why and he said because I need the Rotators , I said "no I don't, don't do that I only want the brake pads", then they said whatever but u will definitely need the caliber since it's locked and I denied that as well and he said it's a "liability to leave without it" I said just put my brakes back the way they were "he said "fine and you can go" . I didn't get to get my tire rotated or get my extra tire replaced . The clerk guys says "u can get out now " while they were still bringing my car down. He just kicked me out. Then the driver/ mechanic just put my car out of the shop and left my keys in it running with the door open and left. AWFUL experience!!! I'm 100% sure they were trying to scam me, my car is fine I was just trying to replace the brake pads before a trip and they were trying make me do unnecessary replacements on normal wear and tear that my husband can do himself. Dec '18: Derrick and company provided 4 top tires and exemplary service on my Kia van. I went in for a flat repair only to find it was unrepairable. After discussing replacement possibilities I chose COOPER tires, one of my favorite brands. Service as service should be. Precise, timely and affordable. Started seeing issues with my car while on a road-trip. They had it fixed in a few hours!

I have a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5SL and we had a misfire on it before I went to work. Took it there and they recommended 4 spark plugs and 1 cylinder so we did that and didn't have a problem until yesterday. I am a delivery driver for a restaurant. I'm debating about taking it somewhere else. read more

I brought my vehicle into this location for a repair requiring replacement of a gasket and damage to a coil. After the $1,500+ repair, I drove the vehicle home and saw smoke coming from the hood. I called the location to advise them of the issue, they said this is common and probably just some oil left over from the cleaning. Since I did not want to take any chances, we brought the vehicle back and they said everything was fine. 2 weeks later I am 4 hours from home and see the service lights blinking similar to when we discovered this issue. The car began riding rough and I saw smoke coming from the hood. I ended up having to stay an extra day, missing a day from work only to find out that the issue was exactly what I brought it into the Pep Boys location in Tallahassee. The location in Orlando was very responsive and clearly showed me what the issue was and how the issue was not resolved. It is scary to think that such a callous disregard could be given to such a serious mechanical matter, allowing me to take the vehicle back on the road potentially causing harm to myself or further damage to the vehicle. Upon calling to Tallahassee location I was given the runaround by a person named Cleve, who basically pawned me off on the 800 service. Upon reaching the 800 service, the customer service rep Wendy told me they would try to reach out to the area manager , Mr. Bates, but couldn't promise a call back before 24 to 48 hours, but hoped he would return the call because it was marked 'urgent'. Having been to other Pep Boys locations this is the first time in many years of trusted service that I have had such a bad experience. The lack of accountability for the work performed at this Tallahassee location is a poor reflection of Pep Boys. Even worse was was the negligence when we returned to the location. It should go without saying that there was no runaround when it was time for me to pay, but nobody seems to give the same energy or accountability to responding to my issues. This location should have its repair license revoked. read more

Our van broke down in Tallahassee on the way back from Orlando, so we took it to Pep Boys to have it repaired. Despite the fact that we made an appointment, dropped the van off before the store opened, and let them know that we were stranded here and needed to get home, they did not start working on it until well after noon. I am very unhappy with the level of service we've received. read more

Two weeks ago I was driving from Atlanta to Tallahassee and experienced a low engine oil light. My service rep in Atlanta said that I should have it checked and advised the type of oil to use if needed. I called this Pep Boys location several times in route and spoke with Janet who was so very helpful in advising that they had the type of oil I was looking for and where they were located. The next day I drove there and spoke with Janet and the manager whose name I believe was Mr. Cook. Once again they were both so very knowledgeable and helpful and had the oil level checked and said I was good to go. I asked the charge amount and Mr. Cook said there was none. Wouldn't even give one star if I didn't have to. Horrible time getting new tires today. Tires are for a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, so already incredibly expensive. After comparing every tire shop in the area, Pep Boys seemed to have the better price and included the services we were offered by other shops, so we went with them. After we made an appointment with them, we were told our tires were not in stock, but they would upgrade us and split the difference. Also told us the estimate they gave did not include tax--strange, because every other estimate we received from their competitors did. So now we were up over $100 of the original price we were quoted. They offered to cover the cost of the difference between the tires and the tax after we complained how misleading it was and they could tell they were about to lose a customer. So, we dropped the car off with the assurance of the price we were originally quoted. Two hours later, we receive a call from them saying the car needs an alignment, and it would be at least an extra $79.99, even though they had agreed to match the services offered by their competitor for free, which included a one-year alignment. Even our printed estimate says "Alignment: $0.00". Manager swears up and down that they only promised an alignment CHECK, but our printed estimate says otherwise. When we show him all the estimates we received, including the one he printed out with the free alignment and the competitors' with the better price, we told him we would not have chosen their shop had they been honest with us about how much it really cost and how mislead we felt. Manager Rick Schantz only said, "We can put the old tires back on." After all that, he was going to waste labor over the cost of an alignment. What a shame. DO NOT go here.
