I have recently moved to this area from another state and needed to find a vet for my beloved Shih Tzu. I was unaware of a medical condition that he had. Dr. Pepin and staff discovered and have treated him ever since. I have found Dr. Pepin and her staff to be caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. They not only care for our pets but care about the owner. I was given complete information on his condition and what we needed to do to care for him. I thought I would not be able to replace my old vet, but I could not be happier to have Dr. Pepin as our new vet. Caring, compassionate and she is very knowledgeable. We were taking our son's dog to be checked out, we were under the impression that we were leaving him for blood work. 9 am appointment. Waited in the parking lot until 9:35, called again to find out what was going on. When we said we would stay with the dog, told her problem solved, the receptionist said she did not like our attitude and cancelled our appointment. Don't take your pets here. We were Disappointed. Services are truly Overpriced as compared to other local veterinary practices. Bills were inflated by "nickel and dime-ing" and repeating charges. WARNING- LONg RANT DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO TENDER LOVING CARE OF MEDINA if you love your pet!!!!!!!! My story - I have been taking my dog to this vet for a year with minimal issues. However, I took my cat there earlier this week when she had some dramatic weight loss ever since a vacation a few weeks ago. Upon seeing her, they proceeded to go on about how sick she was, which didn't surprise me considering the weight loss. They insisted they had to do a full blood panel that cost $260 along with several other measures, bringing the bill up to over $400. I tried to ask which alternatives I could use and of course, everything was absolutely necessary. Luckily, I was able to pay this fee at that time. Upon the exam completion, I told the results would be back on Thursday. When I got home I noticed that I was double charged the exam and the medical waste fee and there was also a couple other mysterious descriptions on the bill. When I called to inquire, no one seem to know what was what but they did agree to refund me for the erroneous charge. While talking to the office on Wednesday afternoon to fix the bill issue, the receptionist informed me that my cats test results were in. I asked her what they were, and she claims she was not allowed to tell me over the phone and that she had to wait for the doctors to read them. OK, I get this - but expected someone to call me Thursday at a reasonable time. I called three times through their business hours at once I didn't hear from them by 12 or 1 o'clock today with no response. Finally, at 6 PM tonight I received a call back with the results. It indicated that she had a urinary tract infection, but the doctor was saying that they would like to do a culture on the urine to narrow down what the bacteria was. When I asked if they could give her a broad-spectrum anabiotic, she said that they "don't do that. "I asked what my next steps were and she said that the office was closing for a week due to a Covid outbreak and therefore they couldn't do anything. I asked if she could call in another antibiotic that was likely to work on the type of bacteria that they identified, and she says that they don't call in pet medication's to a human pharmacy ( Walgreens etc) and that it's "not their policy to call prescriptions into a pet pharmacy. " I'm like WTF?!?!? I asked what they expected me to do then, as my cat is obviously ill and needs treatment! She said that they call a friendly partner Vet that will agree to see their patients while they're closed down, and they'll ship their records, but I will still have to pay another exam fee and an additional test fees for them to make their own determination as to what is wrong with her! So basically I have to re-pay hundreds of dollars more to take her somewhere else because they refuse to provide care based on their results because they're the only pharmacy in town that will not call in a prescription to a pharmacy. I accused her of being money hungry at this point, to which she didn't deny but just said oh I can't have that conversation with you right now. I asked how she slept at night knowing that an animal is suffering because they refused to provide medication. She then cited the CDC guidelines for Covid. I get that they have to close down and I'm all for preventing the spread of Covid, but there is absolutely nothing about Covid that says that they cannot call in medication to a pet pharmacy like every other vet in the world. That is where they are being simply money hungry and absolutely sadistic and cruel. She then said, that she was sorry for my distress and that she feels she did her job by informing me of the results and informing me that they will be closed. I told her that she did not do her job in fact, and she basically just stole $400 from me for doing absolutely nothing but that if that helps her sleep at night then good for her. So now I'm out $$$$ and obviously will have to spend hundreds more to take her to a vet that will actually do their job and follow through and provide treatment on an animal that they examine. This is the most obscene misuse of power that I have ever seen, and obviously will never take either of my animals back there. read more

Horrible experience. They were not ready for us when we got there even though I told them I was a new client from out of town and would need to have the records faxed. I offered to get them faxed but there said they would do it (2 weeks earlier). They didn't. Then, the vet seemed scared of one of my dogs and by dog could sense this and was very anxious. She tried to jab the shots into this dog when she was distracted and this caused the dog to freak out... So they muzzled her. This didn't help the anxiety. They told me they couldn't do all the shots for my other dog sitting one visit (this has never been a problem before. She's 35 pounds). They said I could also bring the other dog back at that time to give another round of shots. Round 2: charged another $40 per dog to give a shot to each dog. Charged for 2 nail trim and did 1(kind of). Same nervousness with the larger dog. Just terrible. If the vet is not comfortable with large dogs, she should not be the one dealing with them. I called to inquire about getting money back for the nail trim and understand why fees for a full office visit were charged even though we just had one shot and they never called back. I will never take my dogs back and do not recommend them to anyone. read more

I can't speak to the quality of the doctors here, but what a shitty staff (or at least the "lady" who was manning the phones on the evening of 1/11/23). I was looking to make an appointment to check for a microchip on a stray cat that I had found, and at first the person who answered the phone said they didn't provide that service. When I pointed out that their website specifically said they did, she replied, "well we have nothing for three weeks." Then she hung up on me. I have no idea how these vets are staying in business with a staff of this quality (as reflected in the recent ratings below). read more

I took my dog in for vaccinations on 6/1/16. He was a large breed dog 8-10 years in age . He had been rescued from another owner who did not pay him much care. We took him in to the vet to get his shots and have him checked over. The vet went through a series of procedures that could be done to be preventative heart worm ect. We performed blood work after being convinced it would rule out many of the conditions that could cause overweight issues in a Pet. He also had a gagging cough that was alarming and he experienced while he was hot and panting. We grew concerned about the cough and his weight issues. Based in his over weight issue we were asked to put him on a diet and exercise. And all blood work came out NORMAL. Six days later we rushed our dog to Metropolitan Emergency Animal Hospital in Akron. He was rushed into the back where he was immediately Checked over by the Emergency Staff and Diagnosed with Advanced Heart Disease and Cancer as well as a large amount of fluid the Cause of his perceived overweight issue. Keep in mind vaccines to a sick animal can be fatal, Let alone a dog with a problem diet or weight problem. We lost King that day. Here's my issue. We were charged in excess of $400 to bring King back to Healthy. Due to the missed diagnosis the of the Advanced Heart Disease the and the Cancer the shots were fatal. Had simple X-rays been recommended to us the problem could have been caught and we nave had more time with our pet . Secondly. How does a experienced Vet look at a 8-10 year old Dog that weighs 123 lbs and Heart Disease not be the first thought that crosses your mind. I'm equally as confused as you. We asked for a refund of our Money she said no.. Shame on you !! Be very Cautious of this Vet !!! read more

A neighbor brought my cat into this vet for emergency treatment and I was told I would be able to further treatment and care for him. While she was there this vet allowed her to claim ownership and let her make the decisions for my cat. She also decided to let the vet give him a new home and the vet agreed. This vet did not microchip scan him, call me, get any signatures or even attempt to speak with me. Today when I went to the vet and spoke over the phone they told me he was not there. This neighbor told me he had died. The vet took my info down and I have not heard back from them at all but they did proceed to call the neighbor since they claim she's the owner. While I have all microchip info to me and his information on hand. They now want to cremate him and give him to me. But they claim he's not mine? Do not recommend this vet at all. read more

I've taken my dogs to TLC & Dr. Pepin for over twenty years. She & her staff are kind & loving towards all of my dogs. They've accommodated me in emergency situations as well. I understand it can be pricey, but tests, medication, xrays ect are expected in the human world of medicine as well. She's a doctor!!! They are a small practice & sometimes they need to send out labs as they dont have a full blown lab with techs working there. They'll work with you on forms of payment & have always given a cost of prior to any treatment if we've asked. I wouldn't trust anyone other than Dr. Pepin & staff. read more

I want to preface this by saying that the staff here are very friendly and accommodating. However, from both of my interactions they intentionally make the visit as expensive as possible. I made the appt for my dogs ear knowing there was an infection of some sort. After two visits back to back and 8 total hours my dog had been sedated twice without any treatment performed except a single cytology swab. I was told they didn't want to give him ptsd and wanted it as stress free as possible. However him being in pain and not eating/drinking at home is more stressful in my opinion so I would've appreciated them just doing what needed to be done to fix his ongoing issue. I informed them I wanted him to get a subq fluid bolus because he hasn't drank in almost 48 hours, that wasn't done. The vet said she thought it was highly unlikely he wouldn't drink again tonight. As if I don't know my dog or had witnessed him the day prior not eating or drinking. I received two scripts that the vet said may or may not help unless I paid another $140 for a culture and that they wanted to try again in a week or two. So sedated for the 3rd time. Mind you these bills are ranging from 120-350 each visit! This was our first experience and sad to say we will not be coming back. I appreciate the sentiment of not wanting to stress an animal but being from a medical background myself, I'm not coming to the vet for therapy on ptsd, I'm coming for treatment. read more

When we got our new puppy over the summer we began taking him here. Staff seemed friendly enough but there were major issues. First, you have to wait in your car and they routinely run about 50 minutes late - that's a long time for a pet to sit in a car and wait. More importantly though, they do everything they can to jack up the cost. They applied treatments/vaccines not discussed prior to the visit on multiple occasions. When I requested an Rx for mail order they refused unless I brought my puppy in for a heartworm test that was required annually - now he was only 5 months old and had been on the meds I bought from them at highly marked up price for the past 2 months. Then a week prior to being neutered I was informed our dog had to go in for another visit/mandatory blood work prior to surgery. That was the last straw. Booked an appointment with another vet that day and they've been fabulous - on time, no surprise charges, no B.S. extras. read more

I find it disheartening that i have to write this,but this is by far the worst experience an animal lover should have to go through. Tender loving care is far from tender or loving, the staff are uncaring and rude and consistently show no sense of even trying to be nice. Dr peppin may put on a good front but she is far from being as kind as she attempts to show to the customers.The first training the staff get is how to inflate bills and not to let customers see what tests are ordered until they get a bill.The front desk receptionist is useless and never has an answer to any question although she can swipe your credit card a record speed.My hope is that some will learn and use this review to save some heartache.for pet owners. I had to put my 14 year old cat, Max down last week. Dr. Pepin came to my house and made a very sad day so much easier for me and Max. She took her time and walked me through the whole process. It was so comforting for Max and me. He left this world peacefully in my arms in the comfort of his own home. It costs a little more to do this at home, but it was worth every penny!!! This is a good veterinarian office. Very friendly and helpful staff for the most part and doctor Pepin is very knowledgeable. My cat had teeth pulled here and everything went great and they always were so helpful on the phone when I called everyday to ask questions about her medication and make sure her behavior was normal, was very satisfied with that. Just expect to be there for 2 hours for every appointment...it is always such a long wait. read more

We recently moved to Medina from the west coast, and were looking to establish a relationship with a local vet clinic. When we arrived, I found the facility to be clean and the staff was super friendly. The tech took copies of my pets' medical records, and reviewed them with the vet prior to the exam. Dr. Pepin was great with my dogs upon introduction and gave them lots of love to make for a positive experience, even when taking temperature. She took the time to go over what I needed to know about the area (fleas, ticks, lepto, etc) that we did not have to worry about back home in a dry climate. She also provided a folder full of pamphlets and info for me to read, which I appreciated. Lastly, the fees were super reasonable and I never once felt pressured to add on extra services that we were not there for. Anything extra that was recommended was provided to me in an estimate so that I could decide later. Honestly, I can't say enough about the positive experience that we had. This office is horrible. They lied to me several times. Dr. Pepin only cares about the money and will have her staff lie just to get clients in. I fired her months ago and sent email after email trying to get my dogs records updated on the pet portal. I left a voicemail. No response. When I spoke to the receptionist weeks ago she said she would mail them. I still have not received them. They aren't very knowledgable. The first visit I was told by her Nurse that Revolution was taken off the market. Dr. Pepin assured me that was not the case and she did explain why she didn't use Revolution due to seeing dogs get whipworm while on the product. That was an acceptable answer to me. Another time I accidentally mixed my medication up with my dogs because the pills look the same. The nurse told me to give her peroxide to make her vomit. About an hour later I got a call saying that Dr. Pepin called poison control and said NOT to make her vomit because of her health issues. Of course it was too late ~ I had already given her the peroxide as directed. Too many unqualified people in that office make decisions they shouldn't be making. Of course I had to pay for her calling Poison Control. My dog has serious heart problems and sees a cardiologist regularly. The cardiologist gave the ok for my dog to get her yearly vaccines and resume her heart worm and Dr. Pepin charged for an 'exam fee' which I understood because she needs to make her money even though the cardiologist just seen her the week before. She decided to split her vaccines but failed to tell me that she would charge 2 office exam fees on top of the vaccines. On the phone I was told a vet tech could do the 2nd set for a lesser fee but they failed to honor it when I came in because the person I spoke to on the phone didn't document it. Basically they made me feel like I was lying about it. I expressed my concern several times and they could have cared less. The best part is when I asked Dr. Pepin how my dogs heart sounded during this expensive exam and her response was "Well, we'll leave that to the expert". So I'm not really sure what the exam was for since she didn't even know what she was listening for. Beware..... Beware..... Beware!!!! read more

Pricey. In addition to that fact, the appointments are stretched out so that each and every time you attend an appointment for the same issue, you are certain to get another office charge and/or some sort of charge that could have been addressed at the initial appt. There is only one (1) front desk receptionist so you will end up leaving multiple messages before a call is returned. Blood work is over-priced. She most likely uses a lab that charges her too much to begin with and she is unwilling to change so that fee gets passed on to you. SHOP AROUND. For the love of your pet, there are many other veterinarians who are loving and qualified and will use your time wisely and also return phone calls within a decent amount of time. If you do decide to go to Dr. Pepin, do your homework. Ask all your questions at that time, get all Rx's and/or in-office supplies you may need because if you don't, she will have you return and somehow do something where she can charge you again for a service she performed or should have performed just days prior but did not because you were unprepared and didn't ask questions. Understand that you will not get excellent service from the office staff because she is short-handed at all times. Dr. Pepin is nice but I think an overhaul of her business would do her wonders. read more

My dog had surgery there. First and last time at this vet. I called numerous times prior to her surgery for pain meds and kept getting tuft until next day. Obviously an animals pain is not their concern. She had surgery. I went home with the wrong e-collar TWICE that they gave me. I went to Petsmart and bought the correct sized one. Three unnecessary trips when collar should have been placed on her before I arrived. Obviously post-op of surgical wound care does not concern them either. I then made the 2 week follow-up for suture removal the same day of surgery. When I went there they said they did not have an appoinment for me and let someone who came in after me be seen. Obviously incompetent and I was given rude and nasty looks by the pregnant staff that day. Obviously my time is not important to them either.I was asked to make another appt. I said, "No, my appt was for now.She is to have sutures out today." They obviously do not care if sutures grow into my dogs skin and cause her more pain.I told them to give me a suture removal kit and I will do it myself. They took my dog to the back and took out the sutures, gave her to me----NO INSTRUCTIONS, NO FOLLOW-UP, NO VET SPOKE TO ME.
