I bought a Stay lit tree several years ago. Every year I mean every single year a whole section goes out. I'm always given a hard time when I bring it in even though the paperwork clearly states the lighting system is covered. These trees are not reliable or worth the $1000+ price. After this year I will rewire it myself properly. What a sad way to do business giving people such a hard time under warranty. read more

At the end of the season last year I bought a Santa's Own 7.5 Wind C Victoria Christmas Tree. I should have opened it then and returned it. Not full at all, big open spaces, lights are put on very poorly, it is very unstable as the stand is way too small for the tree. I bought this much more expensive tree to replace my old Lowe's tree which I purchased for $75.00. Even after years of use, that one looked better than this one. Sooooo disappointed. read more

We have bought 2 trees from Peppermint Forest and have been dissatisfied with both. The first was no where near as full as the one on the floor & we were told it was not returnable. Years later we bought a Wonderlit since it has a 10 year warranty on the lights. What they don't tell you is it is on the lighting system, not bulbs themselves. So this year we replaced 30+ bulbs and others keep going out. We are told we have to replace them all & if that doesn't work to bring in for service. When you are ready to decorate for Christmas you don't need this aggravation! read more

I've read some of these other reviews, and I'd say these reviewers aren't very observant. Peppermint Forest carries some AMAZING trees...these are NOT going to be the same trees and decor you find at big box stores. (And trees have 10 yr guarantee, including lights!). I have bought sprays and ornaments here for the last several years. I did notice this year that you will find similar LOOKING ornaments in big box stores...there's definitely trends in this industry, too...but they are not near the quality and appeal you get here. I get so many compliments on how my tree decor shimmers and glimmers. And the prices are right in line with more cheaply made imitations. It seems the selection was a bit less this year than years past. The staff is nice enough. (Not overly warm, but approachable enough) I suspect they just leave one alone to peruse before asking if you need help. I haven't needed any real help there. A nice place to at least get a few things to spruce up what you have. (It's a pool/spa/grill store in the warmer months- clever use of space) read more

I love this place and I look forward to their opening weekend every October. I don't know why the previous reviews focused solely on trees. They have garlands, ribbons, signs, villages, tree toppers, tree skirts, stockings, mantel decorations and ornaments galore. I'm sure I missed something in that list. I just want to point out that's it nor just a tree store. I've been coming out to the store for 8 or 9 years now, I've never bought a tree, but boy have I bought ornaments and decorations! I buy an ornament for every family member of my family. The variety and quality of ornaments at Peppermint Forest is superb. From newborns to seniors, I can find appropriate ornaments for everyone, and a few for myself too. I buy a lot of ornaments, so being able to get my shopping done at one place, and in October, is such a blessing. read more

I've been shopping at Peppermint Forest for years, starting when they were located on Monroe Rd. Always had a great experience. Unfortunately the quality of the merchandise is not as good as it used to be. I liked Peppermint Forest because they had decorations I couldn't find anywhere else. Now the decorations are mostly cheap-looking. And the Customer Service is terrible. I was waiting in line behind a lady that was waiting and there were two employees in the checkout area. Neither one saw us standing there. I asked the lady if she was waiting to check out and she replied she was waiting at the sign that said "wait here" and no one had offered to help her. So the cashier finally noticed her and told her to come to the register. The other lady left and did not offer to help. It took several minutes for the cashier to check out the lady before me. When I complained to the cashier she was disrespectful. She told me that the other employees had "other things to do." Seriously? That was completely inappropriate for her to say. Her name was Nicole. I guess I will be spending my money somewhere else. read more

I have to say I was sorely disappointed this year. We bought a small tree, $50, so still not cheap last year for our daughter. Actually, we bought 2, one for each girl and a 10 foot very expensive full sized tree. We got them out today and one of the little trees only half lite up. Like vertically half. So we swung back by with it to see if it could be fixed. We were told they would look at it. The gentleman looking at it told me the tree was really old, 2014 and burnt out. I explained we bought it last year from here and I was told, well it's not like you have any paperwork. I have to be honest, most of their items are higher priced. We bought there because of the customer service. When both of those things fail, then we move on. My daughter was heartbroken that she wouldn't have a tree to decorate today as planned, I purchased another on sale. Just so disappointing that their service has gone so downhill. read more

The peppermint forest Christmas shop is one of my favorite traditions with my mom. Every year we go and enjoy all the decorated trees. We typically pick out an ornament or two. It's a small shop with a friendly staff. Some of the ornaments are a bit pricey but it's a fun experience in itself. read more

I always look forward to going here with my mom each Christmas season. Today we enjoyed looking at all the beautiful holiday decor and each had a basket of items to purchase. When we got to the cash register, Delia rang us up, and was horrible. I thought, maybe someone died, maybe she had a rude customer before us, maybe she wasn't feeling well. But no, pretty sure she's just an a-hole. Because her co-worker Pam came up and she was all smiles and nice to Pam, then turned back to continue to ring us up and literally scowled. She couldn't even look us in the eye. Or, hand us our bags. I had to reach across the counter to get my bags. It was bizarre. I worked in retail for more than a decade when I was younger, I dealt with many a rude, arrogant, entitled, and bossy customer, we were being none of those. The other woman working the registers was being nice, friendly, and pleasant. I'd rather wait in a long line and have someone kind ring me up, than a short line and be "greeted" with a Delia. read more

Don't give me wrong this shop is magical. However, it's definitely overpriced and you can achieve the same looks by stocking up on stuff from Hobby lobby when it's on sale. My biggest disappointment though was that they really only carry decorative Christmas stuff - garlands, solid color balls, different florals to stick in the tree, etc. I was really on the hunt for super unique novelty ornaments to fill up our tree, but they mostly have designs by theme, like farmhouse, beach, etc. Still think it's worth a visit if you haven't been though read more

We found the Peppermint Forest about 3 years ago just passing through Pineville and it's been a must visit every year since. They have a wide variety of trees. We decorate 8 in our home every year and no 2 trees are the same. I love to find my regular collectibles like Jim Shore,Dept 56, Possible Dream and Mark Roberts, Rez. Last year we found a reindeer to go on our wooden season flag holder. This is a must shop to really put you in the Christmas spirit. Looking forward to open house this year read more

You know you've hit a "certain age" when you're out trekking for after Christmas bargains the first week in January. Nonetheless, I convinced myself that stopping by Peppermint Forest was in my best interest since I want new ribbon for the tree in our family room. As we entered the store, we saw a sign posted that promoted: EVERYTHING on sale - 50% to 70% off. "Alrighty," I'm thinking to myself, "this is my kind of sale. Cheap and probably a bunch of stuff no one else even wants..." The salespeople told us about the sale as we entered the store as well as while we were browsing the wares. "Everything is on sale - 50 to 70% off!" they pointedly told us. We're not Village people or Snowbabies collectors so we pass those selections by. We wander around in circles for about 10 minutes truly perplexed by snowman toliet covers (with fringe!) and a Crabber's Christmas tree (What species of crab finds its home here in land-locked Charlotte?). There are boundless amounts of ribbons, picks and ornaments. One can't tell what is 50% and what is 70% off. "Maybe it's a mystery sale," my husband whispers to me. We start asking other customers if they knew what was discounted to what extent because the salespeople kept enthusiastically telling us that "everything" is on sale. We didn't find anything unusual or unique at Peppermint Forest that we couldn't purchase at other places, with the exception of the Rudolph and Frosty fringed toliet covers (and those had me grabbing for my sanitary hand wash at just the thought of having something fringed and felted near a toliet). I really don't want Rudolph all gung-ho and happy when he looks at my backside either. The trees were still too expensive even with their 70% price drops. To be fair, we had just come from Summer Classics where we snagged a beautiful tree for $75 and magnolia leaf swags for $25. One of the salespeople, Lisa, was very helpful with ideas when we started chatting with her about one of our tree toppers. She suggested a couple of ideas and went to the backroom and found us just what we were looking for. Score. There was a small wait for a register. While one of the salespeople was sighing and wrapping our items, we noticed the bill was a little higher than we had calculated. When we started looking at the receipt details, we found that had inadvertently picked up a collectible or two (who knew Beachy Santa was a collectible?). The salesperson said those not on sale were clearly marked. We looked around. The salesperson had to point out these little paper signs discretely placed above the displays. (There was no collectible display for Beachy Santa.) I yearned to politely ask for the definition of "everything" but quickly decided it was not worth the hassle. Apparently it was a BIG DEAL for them to refund our money when we explained we weren't interested in purchasing a Christmas decoration at full price the first week of January - especially when it was not marked. We got to experience a lot of sighing and eye contact avoidance. This is a run of the mill Christmas store. A big part of the store is focused on Dept 56 Villages (the Halloween Villages were taking center stage so riddle that one in January) as well as those creepy corpse-like Snowbabies. The ribbon was fairly priced and they still have those old fashioned angels with moving heads (which would give my kids nightmares if I ever decided to stick one of those at the top of a tree). Even Peppermint Forest's After Christmas sales cannot compete with other retailers however. We can take it or leave it. read more

We visited Peppermint Forest Christmas Shop today at the end of their season. They did have really good sales on their products (we went for a tree), but still the "30%-70% off" prices were extremely high. The artificial tree quality was less than I had expected (for these prices, I had expected plump, full trees, tons of little lights, and a long warrantee). However, most were standard quality, not much better than something at Lowe's. I am hoping this is just because they've already sold out of their best trees. Fine by me - we got a good tree within our budget. So for products, PFCS was ok. As for the customer service - I was disappointed: After entering the store and waiting patiently for someone to assist us, we notice an associate in the tree section (Cyndee) helping another customer. There were very few, if any, other patrons in the store at that time. We wait patiently, and I realize this will take a while. So I approach the front desk, where two associates are talking together behind the desk. I unfortunately had to interrupt them to get their attention, and I asked if anyone could help us with a tree. Asscociate Nicole C. states, "There's someone over there in trees - she'll help you." I explained the situation, and again asked for help. Nicole C. said, "NO, you'll just HAVE. TO. WAIT." Wow, talk about unprofessional. She was not helping other customers, but couldn't be bothered to help me. Fortunately, Pam (apparently a much better associate who has a higher customer service focus) spoke up and said, "Well, I'm not the expert in trees, but let me see what I can do to help you." Pam led me over to the trees, and gave a wonderful review of the various trees, different types of lights, and respective warrantees. A few minutes later, Cyndee came to help, and we quickly settled on a tree, which we purchased. We checked out with Nicole, and again, she gave very poor quality service. We pulled around back to pick up the boxed tree, and the man in back who loaded the tree into our van was professional, courteous, and very happy to help. Hate to say it, but when you spend hundreds of dollars at a store for a single item, you'd think you'd at least receive courteous and professional help from all the associates. I just hope the more experienced workers, Cyndee and Pam, are able to train Nicole and help her learn how to deliver better customer service before next Christmas season. I won't be back. This place is awesome!! It is expensive , but you can get great decorating ideas here. I just buy a few accent things and use them with my own things to get close to the same look. I have never had bad service here. Everyone has always been very helpful. Worth going to just be amazed at their beautifully decorated trees. I love it there and can't wait to visit every year. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is the prices. With that said , they do have sales. read more

Not only do I recommend not giving this place your business I wouldn't even waste my time visiting the store if I were you. I've been twice. Once during the winter season and once in summer for patio furniture. The customer service was AWFUL both times. You walk in (to an empty store no less) but the associated can't be bothered with greeting you or asking if you need any help. One time they were talking amongst themselves, looked up and noticed I walked in and then went right back to talking. I stayed to look around and was offered no help. Other patio furniture stores give you the rundown of options, wicker vs metal, vs teak blah blah.. even if you've already heard it it's nice to feel like they care to help you.. Nothing at Peppermint Forest. So I left and spent my money at Fire House Casual where the customer service is seriously 10 star. I have a hard time making decisions and patio furniture is expensive no less! Peppermint should consider showing the customer a little more appreciation. read more

The prices are high and you can find the same item for less elsewhere. Even when they have their sale on Christmas trees 50-70% off, the original prices are either bogus or inflated since you can find the same item for the same price not on sale. You find it for less money than their sale price when it is actually on sale at other sites. read more

I had a terrible experience, using a Groupon with this merchant. I paid $20 for a Groupon to receive $40 in merchandise. I bought my items. The clay ring that is supposed to smell like a real fir tree did not work at all. Today, I returned it with my receipt and assumed I could exchange it for items of equal value or more. The clerk informed me that they would refund $0.18 on the $19.99 item price! I tried several times to explain the inequity and finally asked her to check with a supervisor. She stomped off, hand flung in the air, pulling on her hair, and shaking her head. I do not ever remember being treated so rudely or unfairly. I got teary and left the store. After calling Groupon, they have refunded my $20, but I want to warn everyone that this merchant does not deal fairly. The people at Groupon were quite surprised to hear my story and I hope they will never deal with this merchant again. I know I won't! read more
