We have been to this Thai restaurant many times over the years. We have never been disappointed. However, "Peppermint Thai " recently did some reimagining. They have rethought their menu, removing one of my favorite items. The lamb chops they have always served there are some of the best anywhere. It was always my go-to meal. I was really disappointed to see it gone. But, that did force me to make some other choices I would not have normally made. It all turned out to be wonderful. Another change they recently made is they will not take any walk-in traffic. You must have reservation. With that aside, the service is still excellent... polite, friendly, efficient. The staff is excellent. Nothing has changed regarding the atmosphere of the establishment. It is warm, colorful, and filled with beautiful Thai artistry. Last but not least, the prices are excellent. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful, multi-course meal including wine, appetizer, entree, dessert, and coffee for only $65.00. I definitely recommend this establishment. read more

We didn't have a reservation and didn't know we needed one. The website said nothing about this. We were seated anyway since the restaurant was virtually empty. On the table on the menu it stated that they were no longer taking walk ins due to staffing issues. I appreciate that they seated us. The food was excellent and so was the service. They need to update their website though as the prices were much higher than stated. I hadn't been there in years and was not disappointed in my experience. The food was excellent and the service was prompt. My concern, however, was with the gratuity. I normally tip very well, however the tip was automatically included despite our party being only two people. The gratuity was set at 20% and was calculated on the total bill including sales tax, which is not standard practice--tips are typically based on the pre-tax subtotal. This was unexpected and should be more clearly disclosed. I would rather a restaurant raise their prices than have the patron subsidize their business. I've been hearing about this place for a while and really wanted to give it a try! My friend agreed to meet me there. They had a large menu. I started with the sake lychee Tini and then ordered another one, just sayin. I also got a lemon herb hot tea. I got the eggplant and scallops for my meal. It was very good. I came here with a friend on a Wednesday night. This is definitely the nicest Thai restaurant I've been to in the area. Prices are in line with other Thai places I've been to. The interior is beautiful and welcoming. Staff is attentive and service is super quick. We waited less than 10 minutes from the time we ordered to when our food was served. I ordered the Penang curry without mushrooms or eggplant and my friend ordered the Pad Thai with tofu. Both had beautiful presentation. I do wish the restaurant had a larger curry menu - I typically order massaman, and they did not have this. That small note aside, everything here was great. Came in as a group of 5 and dishes varied in taste and quality. I enjoyed the mango curry and it had ripe pieces of mangos inside that gave a very refreshing taste to the dish. I got the Pad See Ew and the shrimp was extremely juicy and fresh tasting, had just a little too much sauce and was a bit salty. The dish that didn't stand out were the Pad Thai, it tasted like it was missing flavor and salt, and the waiter did not ask for any spice levels when ordering. Prices were a little high for the quantity of food, most of us were still hungry afterwards and they automatically added a 20%+ gratuity for a party of 5, not sure if that is common in the area. read more

We have been coming here for years and generally rotate through our top favorite dishes. You can't go wrong with a pad Thai or other noodle dish. Love the fried rice and satay chicken. We like the tofu string beans for a mild healthy curry. They recently added some new items to the menu which we were excited about. Tried the hot head noodles- they were awesome. Peppermint Thai is one of our go-to take-out places. We've never dined-in (for no specific reason), but we get take-out at least once every couple of months. I've been meaning to write a review for a while, but today there was an odd incident that irritated me a bit. I didn't deduct any rating, since in the MANY times we've visited, this is the first something odd has happened. It normally takes 20 minutes to complete the order, this evening, I called around 7pm in-anticipation I could pick up around 7:20 or 7:30. After putting the order in, the lady then says "we'll have your order ready at 8pm" this was when I quickly said "8pm?!?" And she acknowledged and ended the call. Unusual for me, but I guess I had time to burn. Around 7:25pm, I get a call from a number I didn't recognize and when I picked up, it was Peppermint to let me know my order is almost ready, to make my way that way....I ordered a couple of fried items and my concern is that it's now sitting in a container, steaming and loosing its crunch. This time, I got Pad Thai and a soft shell crab tempura appetizer. The crab was a surprise, in the sense that I didn't expect it to be a salad. Luckily the mixed greens and the still-crunchy crab, mixed with some pickled carrots and sweet and sour dressing mixed together well and it was a nice appetizer to-start. My wife got the Siam Rolls and as always (also still crunchy), very good and very consistent. Our Pad Thai is always good, really appreciate the freshness and the consistency of the food quality. Aside from those, we also usually get Devil Wings - I know, who gets wings in a Thai place? We'll, try them and it won't be your last time ordering it. The sauce is SOOO good and the wings are-like wing dings but better. We also (usually) get the shrimp in a blanket, just rather whole thing, tail and all....it's so good and fresh, a nice change-up from the Siam rolls. Other main dishes we go-to are the tamarind duck with brown rice (steamed veggies are ver good and cooked consistently tender) and the Landerwood String Bean (large portion, order another side of rice). If you haven't been here, give it a try, they also just opened-up the indoor dining, after being only take-out for so-long. read more

We got a togo order which was ready quickly. Both of the Pad thai entrees had NO green onion and very little peanut pieces; a few fresh, unheated stalks of green onion & more peanuts would've added much-needed flavor and crispy texture; never had a pad thai without green onion, so was very disappointed. However, it was a large portion with a generous amount of noodles, shrimp and chicken. The Tom Kar Gai (chicken coconut soup) was a bigger disappointment -- no cilantro , hot oil, or lime wedges, and a minuscule amount of oyster mushrooms in a bland coconut broth. Finally, the beef with basil was just OK. Not sure why this place is busy - perhaps there are better entrées that we did not order, but at this price point, we won't return. read more

While the food is good, the service is among the worst I can remember at any restaurant. After almost an hour, and while everyone else is being served, our waitress informed us that our "ticket" had been lost and they were restarting but would have food out in 5 minutes. After another 15 minutes, and summoning the GM, we were told the food was being "plated". Another 20 minutes passed before food came. we advised GM that it doesn't take 20 minutes to plate food that has been prepared. He said they were busy. No real apologies. He said we could leave, since we had concert to get to. At end, he did nothing, but waitress deducted two entrees and a10% discount. To say that Staff was rude and uncaring would be understatement. Randomly decided to check out Peppermint Thai with my friend. Service was quick but felt a little dismissive. A few different people took orders from us and everytime they wrote down what we wanted, they walked off without another word. It was more strange than anything. We got Shrimp in a blanket for an appetizer. It was good; shrimp rolled in a wonton wrapper and then fried. I had the Tamarind Duck, which has some spice to it. My friend had the Peppermint Fried Rice which she thought was good. We also had plum wine, Thai iced tea (which I love) and I got their white sangria which has mango puree in it. I'm a travel nurse and Navy veteran so I've been all over the country and world. And this Thai restaurant in Cleveland is the best Thai food I've ever had. I always call a takeout order and the service is impeccable. The receptionist's are always so polite and friendly and greet me by my name once I provide my phone number. The restaurant is clean, well staffed, and nicely decorated. I've tried multiple menu items but I've narrowed down my order to the absolute best. Summer Rolls, Tofu Pad Thai, and Thai Iced Tea. Summer rolls are very fresh, handmade, rice paper is perfectly sticky and soft, and the dipping sauce is incredible. Tofu pad Thai is perfection. I was skeptical at first because the dish was very pale looking, but it's the most flavorful and well prepared I've ever had. Noodles are cooked perfectly, tofu is seasoned, generous portion. The Thai tea is everything. The to go tea is served in single serve bottles with a screw on lid. It is perfectly prepared and never watered down. I could go on, but I'll just leave the rest to you. Wanted to come here for a while but they're not open for lunch. Finally came here on a date in October and just felt it was super white-washed and not like a Thai restaurant at all. What kind of Asian restaurant has a wine cellar?! Where is the Tsingtao beer or plum sake? I had to ASK for chopsticks and the server took a good minute to find any. All dishes included starchy sauces with giant pieces of uncut veggies (lots of broccoli usually indicates non-authenticity). We ordered the devil wings and they were not spicy at all! More like the devil's subcontractor wings? My duck entrée was fine but didn't have much Thai flavor. They did do the dessert right--mango sticky rice.
