The server was extremely polite and welcoming, which made this a great experience despite the mediocrity of the food. The appetizers were way better than the actual meal. We loved every appetizer we had, especially the tempura shrimp. But three shrimp is definitely not enough. They should make it six and increase the price. We both got the red curry, and it was mediocre at best. The consistency was watery and the flavor was not as pungent as I'm used to having with Thai curry. This is unfortunate since it is a Thai restaurant and the curry should be on point. Summer Rolls were so old and rice paper wrappers so dried out as to be virtually inedible. The contents was bland and too little dipping sauce provided. We ordered through Chownow for delivery (Order #230959336) and we ordered a Basil Roll, Tom Yum, Pad Satay and for good measure a General Tsos to mix it up. The Tom Yum soup was good, but everything else was pretty rough. The Basil Roll was delivered as a giant broken log. The Pad Satay had zero peanut sauce (kitchen trying to save a few dollars?), and the General Tsos was thai-hot soy sauce and chicken. Not sure if the place had a bad night, or lowers their quality of standard for delivery at times, but this is not good Thai food. The cost isn't cheap, so I really encourage others to spend their money elsewhere. read more

My rating for Thai Elephant's food is 4 stars. I did delivery through the Yelp app, which is really Grubhub. My rating for the delivery is 3 stars. A couple of Fridays ago, I had driven from Markham to Cleveland. I checked in at the hotel and didn't feel like driving to grab some dinner. I wanted a quiet evening at the hotel without being behind the wheel. The last time I had ordered dinner through the Yelp app was in Anaheim in 2016. To me, ordering is a treat. I don't do it often. I tend to be either on vacation or on a business trip. Thai Elephant had a favourable rating. I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the following items: - Fried potstickers (five) - Steamed dumplings (eight) - Thai-style fried rice with chicken I had ordered at 7 pm. I got confirmation in a e-mail saying that the estimated delivery time was 8:15 pm. Cool. Roughly twenty minutes later, the estimated delivery time was changed to 8:30 pm. I was okay with it, although I was getting hungry. 8:30 pm came and went. The delivery person showed up at 8:45 pm. I was relieved and hungry. I thanked him for the food and went to chow down. Frankly, I feel that placing a dinner order and waiting for nearly two hours to get it within a major city to be an exceptionally long wait. The food here, on the other hand, was delicious. With the potstickers, you have the option of getting them fried or steamed. I went with the former. They weren't fried to death, which I appreciated. You got a decent amount of chicken and cabbage in each potsticker. The potstickers came with this amazing sweet and sour black soy sauce mix. It made everything extra tasty. I also ordered what were dubbed dumplings. I got them steamed instead of fried. They looked like little scallops with a thin wrapper holding the ground pork and onions together. They were okay. They also came with that special sweet and sour black soy sauce. After dipping each dumpling in this sauce, they were yummier. The Thai-style fried rice was amazing. You got a lot of chicken breast meat. Frankly, you got a generous amount of everything. I ate it all. I asked that the onions be held. I looked at the photo and it looked like they were huge chunks of onion and I didn't want to ward off the world. Sadly, the folks also cut out the green onions, which I wanted. Anyway, it came with peas, carrots, and fried egg. This dish was super tasty. I especially loved how yummy the fried egg came out. I highly recommend ordering this dish. Perhaps when I am back in Cleveland, I will dine in this restaurant instead of doing delivery. Got takeout from this unassuming spot in a Lorain Avenue strip mall...but their flavors were an unexpected surprise! We ordered a variety of appetizers and mains to share...crab rangoons, Summer rolls, shrimp red chili (a chef's special) and massaman curry with chicken. Here is a rundown of each dish: The crab rangoons were crisp and served with a sweet and sour sauce that complimented the dish well. The Summer rolls were huge and came with a plum / peanut sauce...it was like having a salad in a roll! The shrimp red chili was delicious served with onions, green peppers, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage and a sauce that was both sweet and spicy. The massaman curry was spiced nicely and made creamy by the coconut milk; the chicken came mixed with potatoes, onions, carrots and crushed peanuts. We also got two small containers of white rice that allows you to build out each plate. Since I saw Thai restaurants around Cleveland this one was the only one that was open for dining and surprisingly the owner is Caucasian and not Thai. Anyways do come here cuz the food is actually delicious and actually less expensive than eating Thai food in Chicago. Ordered food for pick up. Be forewarned not to arrive early. Due to covid they are not letting anyone in the building. Everything is passed through the door. It was cold; around 28°. Not too happy about that part. They could have allowed people to come in for carry out. I ordered the pad Thai and coconut soup, both with chicken. In both, the chicken a little on the tougher side as if it was over cooked. The soups vegetables were al dente, but was not bad. The broth was fabulous. The noodles for the pad Thai was good also. I've eaten here half a dozen times and the food is excellent. It's fresh and tasty, and they actually give you a decent spice level if you request it. The yellow curry is my go-to but the noodle dishes are also good and the house special fried rice is a must try even if fried rice isn't your regular Thai meal. I love the crab Rangoon here although it is not the typical version - I assume because it is homemade. It's not in a dumpling format, it's in the style of a fried spring roll and the filling has a great creamy and green onion flavor. The sauce they serve it with is not a thick red sweet and sour but also more of a thinner spring roll sauce. I also often order fried tofu as an appetizer although it isn't on the menu anymore, but they always happily make it. I completely understand the frustration in the low reviews based on the fact that they weren't letting customers inside the building during the pandemic - which was odd since the place is very long inside and they could've accommodated take out with social distancing, but perhaps they had special health concerns that I can't begin to presume. It was also odd because in general they've been very friendly people, not standoffish. However, those reviews are still typically positive toward the actual food and they are OPEN FOR INDOOR DINING again now! (Although I would say that they really need to reconsider the interior layout - they. built a sort of half walled off living room/family room in the corner of the dining room, complete with couch, recliner, blankets, and television. This restaurant was okay. I would not say it was exceptional comparing it to other Thai restaurants. However, they do offer free refills on their Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee which is great since it only costs $2! I ordered samosas which looked more like empanadas (see photo). Been wanting to order some pad Thai for lunch which is usually pretty early in the day for me. I placed an order on Grubhub and when I showed up to grab my food, the place was closed for the day. Next day I show up 15 minutes after they opened and the staff had just arrived said they wouldn't be able to make any food for a while. Why open at 11 if you won't serve food until 12? It's a hole in the wall resto gem ! We were passing by Cleveland from New Jersey on a road trip. We had a taste for authentic Thai food and found this place. The crab rangoon were savory - had to add another order cause it was that good. The waiter / owner recommended the crispy fried rice and it's a must. The general Tso's chicken was crispy, fresh and flavorful ! Definitely will come back if we ever around this neck of the woods. The service was also impeccable.
