Poor Customer Treatment and Billing scam at Erawan Thai (Aurora, Ohio) Today, my friends and I had dinner at Erawan Thai, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. While the food itself was average and not the primary issue, the service and overall customer experience were far below acceptable standards. After our meal, despite the fact that an 18% service charge had already been included on all of our bills, the owner, who I believe is named Chow (or Chu), approached our table and began aggressively insisting that we should leave an additional tip for the servers. When I pointed out that the bills already included an 18% service charge, he appeared embarrassed but offered only a minimal apology and continued to speak in a rude and unprofessional manner. When I expressed that his behavior toward customers was inappropriate and disrespectful, his response was simply, "You don't have to come back." I found this reaction unacceptable, especially coming from the owner of the establishment. I am deeply disappointed by the way we were treated. Customers should not be pressured to provide additional gratuities when a service charge has already been added to the bill, nor should they be subjected to confrontational behavior from management. Based on my experience, I believe this situation warrants further review, and I intend to raise my concerns through the appropriate channels so that other customers do not encounter similar issues. I hope this matter is taken seriously and that steps are taken to improve the level of professionalism and customer service at this establishment. read more

Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding. Small and quaint interior, with a few tables and a bar. A kind and attentive staff that is very knowledgeable and has great recommendations. Very clean as well. But most of those details are barriers to entry for a reputable restaurant-- the real deal is the food. It's temp hot and spicy, fresh, authentic, and delicious. I got the crispy spring rolls which were great and vegetarian. Not overly complex but quite satisfying. That pad prik king though was wonderful. As the bartender sold me on it, he described it as a healthy cross of the panaang curry and a rice dish which was perfect. I even got chicken which I never get and it was outstanding. Cannot say enough about the fresh carrots, peppers, green beans, corns, and chicken. I got a 1 out of 3 spice per discussion with the bartender and I probably could have gone 2. I added chili oil which was incredible. Best I've ever had. Great portion and reasonable pricing. I'll be moving to Cleveland in the next six weeks and have already made this my Thai place. We eat really a lot of Thai food and while there are plenty of decent Thai restaurants in Northeast Ohio, dishes like the red curry crispy noodles, consistently delicious, elevated Erawan to the VERY TOP of my personal Thai restaurant list. Until my last visit. My chicken pad Thai was fine, but not as good as what I've gotten there before. Kinda uneventful but acceptable. Unfortunately, I tried adding the Crispy Chicken with Vegetables appetizer. FULL STOP, ERAWAN!!! While the fresh steamed veggies were just fine, I was STUNNED when I received the equivalent of two GFS, Cysco, or Sam's Club type premade and obviously frozen FUSED chicken tenders. Are you kidding me? You just took your restaurant down from a ten to a four. What an unfortunate thing to do to such an otherwise excellent Thai restaurant. read more

Been eyeing this place for so long but it was closed the two times I've been previously so just bad luck on my part, I suppose! I had been craving pad thai and I love that this place includes both shrimp chicken in the dish! Could do with a little more crushed peanuts and bean sprouts (from the pictures, I was expecting this but in person, not as much). I also love that they have their own chili oil and it is HOT. I added way too much but it was delicious. Solely based on my dish, I would've given this place a 5 but my BF ordered their signature beef noodle soup and he said without the chili oil, the broth was kind of flat. Wow! This is such a gem of a Thai place and one of the best Thai meals I've ever had! I've been to Thai restaurants in NYC, LA, and even Thailand, but I didn't know such good Thai food existed just 10 minutes from my parent's house. The dining room is very small and cozy, with not many tables. It really has a homey feel like you're dining in a friend's living room. We had the Pad See Ew with shrimp, the Drunken Noodles with beef, and the Beef Noodle Soup. I'd heartedly recommend all 3 dishes but my favorite was the drunken noodle. The Pad See Ew had a sweeter sauce than the Drunken Noodle, which was more savory. I'll definitely be coming back more often and probably order takeout from here at least a few more times before leaving Cleveland. read more

This was a place that I came across, as my dad would say, "on a humbug". One day I was hungry, looked for an alternative place for some Thai food and this little gem is in a small plaza on Aurora Rd, close to 306. At first I tried the Lemongrass wings, those are so tasty! Whoever is the cook, fries these to a crispy perfection! I tried the Pad Thai next; their's is the authentic version with both shrimp and chicken, you can't go wrong with that. But my new favorite is the fresh rolls. When I want something light, but filling and healthy, this is my go-to! The staff is friendly on the phone and in person. They have a cute dining room and a small bar. It's always busy when I pick up my food, without being uncomfortably crowded. The restaurant is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables, and we were lucky we got in before the rush of folks willing to wait in their cars to eat here! We were served quickly and efficiently, and the food was some of the best Thai food my partner and I have had in the longest time. HIGHLY recommend the drunken noodles and the cashew chicken (we subbed for tofu, and it was amazing!), and be confident their spice levels are true to spiciness. Food was ready prior to the anticipated time given. We got Basil fried rice, Pad Thai and a chicken garlic dish. The food was still nice hot when we brought it home and the portions were good.
