The staff here were incredibly accommodating for my family, as we have an allergy kid in the ranks, who is anaphylactic to eggs and nuts, and has a few other "minor" allergies. They allowed my sister to order food for her son, and wait for my son and I before putting hers, my brothers and my mums order in with the kitchen so we could all eat together as I was running late. They couldn't have done enough for us, and Noelle kept checking that our little man was the only one among us with an allergy. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience, and will be back - not least of all because the manager bestowed upon us an amazing random act of kindness, which, considering we had just come in for lunch before visiting our dad at the Royal, this meant the entire world to us. Will be back. Probably tomorrow. Cause it was lush!

One of only a few in Ireland ER's is already proving to be a big hit on the Lisburn Road. Yesterday when I paid a visit it was absolutely jam packed. But the pin striped, attentive staff managed to deal with the hoards of burger lover admirably. The whole restaurant follows the USA diner theme, red tiles, bold brash posters with American slogans and red leather booths. Right down to even the tiniest details this place is perfect - they have mini duke boxes (50's style) where you can pay 20p for your choice of song. Right on to the important bit, the food. The menu is full of tempting delights but I went for the Smokestack burger upon a recommendation. I have to say I was not disappointed! The Burger bun was soft and fluffy, the burger was meaty and the extras combination were sublime. The best part of the burger was definitely the 'secret' sauce - sort of like a vinegary mayo. I'm underselling it with that description. Burgers will set you back £6.45 but they are not small and you certainly won't be hungry after eating them. I loved Eddie Rocket's - the only tiny thing I would mention is that it took a while for us to get our food which made us rush eating it. I will put this down to how busy it was. The place certainly isn't understaffed. Top marks from me - there's so much on the menu to sample that I will have to make a trip back soon!

When you enter Eddies you can see that it is just like stepping into a real American diner and a great touch is that there is a juke box at every table. The food is great also. This is at heart a burger joint and they do it well. I had a smokestake burger and it was delicious. Applewood cheese, onion rings and secret sauce allll gooooood!!! The ordering and payment system here was streamlined (done via QR code), and everything was prepared and brought out in short order. The highlight, of course, was the Peri-Peri Chicken, which came in many forms/cuts, and I got the half chicken, a skin-on, bone-in breast and leg piece. You can also select a spice level ranging from Plainish (Extra Mild) to Extra Hot, and I went for extra hot, just to see how much heat they could bring. But that's not all! At the self-serve counter were even more sauces, including wild herb, lemon & herb, and garlic, along with peri-peri sauces of all different spice levels, so you could experiment with many different flavor combinations. Along with the chicken, I also got the Rainbow Bowl, a combination of several vegetarian sides including spiced grains & butternut squash, long-stem broccoli, hummus, pickled golden carrots, and rainbow slaw (shredded cabbage and carrots in a tangy dressing), sprinkled with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. This place has been hyped up loads in the media and online so I was really excited to try their grub. Yesterday Belfast was absolutely hiving so it probably wasn't the best idea to pop in to Five Guys at 1pm. This may have slightly tainted my experience. On entrance a staff member handed us a paper menu and ushered us towards the counter to order, the queues were huge but the staff coped admirably working their way through the line. The ordering system is straight forward. Order at the till, you're given a number and then you wait at the service area to grab your order. This seemed to confuse people and rather than line up and wait for their food everyone huddled together in a semi circle around the guy handing the brown bags out. Once you get your food you then have the choice either to take out or eat in. The only problem with eating in is there is nowhere near enough space to sit in. Yesterday every table was occupied and as the seconds ticked by our food got colder and colder - a real pet hate of mine. We eventually sat down at a booth beside other diners. The food itself was OK, nothing special. I ordered a burger with Jalepenos but these were completely devoid of flavour adding nothing but extra crunch to the burger. The burger patty was nice but not out of this world. The major bonus were the chips. They were 'real' and you could tell they had been freshly prepared in house. The price is what will get you! £21 for 2 meals and I didn't even have a drink!? To me that seems extortionate, especially when you can't get a seat to sit down and eat your meal. In my opinion there's plenty of local places in Belfast doing better food than Five Guys without the pomp and ceremony so why not spend £20 there? There are kiosks to order if you do not want to wait in line to order with a cashier. I noticed there were a lot of young adults at this location, and that it was busy during both times I went. Service seems fast despite having a lot of customers inside. What I tried: -Terry's Chocolate Orange Pie is delicious. We don't have that in the United States. The pie is hot and crispy on the outside, and has a semi-sweet chocolate filling, similar to a pudding consistency, with an orange flavor. The overall taste of the pie is light, and not strong or too artificial tasting in either chocolate or orange. -Hamburger: The hamburger is very small and flat compared to the US, but tastes similar, just slightly healthier. -Cheese bites: Also a non-US item. These are tiny mozzarella and emmental balls in a smoky caramelized onion flavored breadcrumb coating. I thought the cheese would be gooey but it was somewhat solid (but warm). It's served with BBQ Dip. -Mini Hash Browns: Got this in the 15 piece instead of the 5 piece. I counted as I ate and there were 13 in there (oh well). I prefer the minis to the flat hash browns (we don't have the mini version in the US). The mini hash browns are crispy and perfect to pop in your mouth. -Sausage & Egg McMuffin: It was okay. The muffin top and bottom are very thin and the sandwich flavor isn't as salty compared to the US. -Breakfast Wrap with Brown Sauce: This is like a McMuffin but in a wrap. I prefer this since it's more filling as it comes with bacon and potato rosti (hashbrown) too. Brown sauce is hard to describe for me. It's not like a BBQ sauce, so it's not smokey or tangy, it's more spiced, sweet, tamarind-y, vinegary, like a cross of ketchup and Worchestshire sauce. The music was blasting at 8 a.m. so that's one way to wake yourself up. I went up to the second floor to eat. There's barstool seating along some windows, as well as grouped sit-down seating. Both the first and second floors were generally clean.

Aldo's on the Falls Road is the place where little me discovered that he liked fish. Well, one type…read moreof fish. The type from a fish and chip shop....from this fish and chip shop. When I was younger I would only ever eat like three things, which drove my parents to despair. So once they found another type of food I liked (no matter how unhealthy it might have been) they made sure that once a week we'd get it! My Granny used to live in the Turf Lodge area of West Belfast, so whenever we would visit, we'd make the trip to Aldo's for our tea. The shop itself is pleasant, its tiled interior is always clean and the glass always perfect. The food is always fried to perfection and even though the pallet of baby Conor has grown significantly from the good old days, Aldo's fish is still the best.
