However, as we discussed installation, he insisted that no ceiling brace would be needed when the weight-bearing wall was removed, and that " a couple of two by fours" was an acceptable alternative to the standard 4 by 10 inch header. When we insisted that both a temporary brace and header were essential, his bid increased by about 50%. Grant also told us that the only window manufacturer he used could NOT make a window with the coating we desired. He refused to even call and ask them, so we did, finding they were more than happy to meet our request, at no additional cost. We were relieved to have someone else do the install. BEWARE.

My over all experience with this company was extremely poor…read more Nick is dishonest and unprofessional and employees are not trustworthy in my opinion. The techs came to do the initial inspection and the main guy Nick dropped his impact onto my new flooring like 2-3 times just trying to get measurements. I didn't think much of it, I chose to move forward. When Nick and his helper came Nick told me that's the guy that was helping him had gotten fired previously for stealing from customer. When the job was just about finished they cleaned up with my broom and I saw that same guy walking my broom to his car. The 2 full window replacements came out overall solid but the replacements of 1 glass pane came out extremely bad. They damaged my fresh paint and did not let me know. They left a ton of excesses black sealant around the window. While also damaging the white frame of my window. I told Nick that I wanted it to be communicated that I wanted compensation for the damage to my window frame and paint and he said he would let Paula know. I called the office a few days later and Paula said that this was the first she heard of it. When they came to fix the black sealant they said there was nothing they could do about the frame being damaged. She made it seem like she was taking a full loss on the job and offered me 300$ of a 2500$ job. When they came to fix the black sealant they said there was nothing they could do about the frame being damaged. I had to basically beg for a partial refund. I ended up getting 500$ back but that's what it cost me to replace my window and repair my paint myself. Overall por experience, would not recommend.

We submitted an online quote request for a window insert install in our solid, fiberglass exterior front door. He walked us through the different inserts and their privacy levels, explained the installation process, and was able to give me a great quote. Kevin installed the window a few weeks after and my husband and I are so pleased with his craftsmanship. We saw pieces of Mickeys work at the Sacramento Antique Faire (every second Sunday of the month)…read moreand immediately were very impressed. A few months later we met him at his nearby shop. His shop has many pieces of his work and he has multiple binders of pictures. Discussed what we wanted and picked out one piece to show basic color scheme. A couple of days later he came out and for a small fee took exact measurements of our two (same size) windows and agreed to make an actual size template with design. Within a week we met him, loved his design, and with his expert and artistic guidance choose specific glass types and colors. Again in less than a week he came out and installed both stained glass windows. They are spectacular! Mickey is a true artist. So very happy we choose him to do our custom windows.

(The one star review, Karl B. from 2016, did not respond to inquiry of stained glass he allegedly had complied by Othon's Golden State Glass. His review mentioned an update of a photo but it was never updated. We will never now how successful his "unsuccessful endeavor" was.) I dropped in on a weekday after work and was greeted by Mickey and asked how I could be helped. I explained I was interested in getting stained glass for 3 of my windows and he asked the appropriate size, height location and what style I was looking for. Said I had an idea but asked to see photos of his work. Now, what I think some people overlook when commissioning custom work from an artist is that artist have personality and style. It isn't likely that you can get them to do exactly what you want if it's outside their artistic style. This is why you you should view their portfolio. Don't go in demanding things be done your way - Remember this is craftsman, not a Starbucks barista. Mickey presented me with a half dozen binders filled with images of his work. As I was flipping through them he explained his process of coming out to take measurements and get a feel for the home and the light. He explained it's a collaborative process for us to work together for a design. Once that's agreed upon, I can pick out the glass and from there it will be a quick turnaround. I pointed out a few pictures from the binders of the style I liked and we discussed more details about color and glass texture. Based on the size, complexity and travel distance from the shop, I was quoted a reasonable price considering my recent internet search on Ebay, Etsy and Amazon for pieces relative to size. Mickey was prompt with all appointments and I'm very happy with the finished work. I highly recommend Mickey for custom stained glass.

This is a great local business that's genuinely easy to work with. Everything was smooth from the very first email quote, to a personal product demonstration, to scheduling the install. On top of that, they came in at the lowest price compared to two other competitors we got quotes from. The install crew showed up on time and were friendly and professional. Honestly, everyone we dealt with was professional from the initial sales appointment all the way through installation. The crew was incredibly efficient too, from the install itself right through to cleanup. We also had a chance to see their service after the sale. When our sliding door glass shattered and needed to be replaced, we called River City Windows and they ordered the glass right away. Within a couple of weeks, the sliding door glass was replaced with no hassle at all. Highly recommend River City Windows if you're looking for quality work, fair prices, and a company that stands behind their products and treats you right.
