Awful experience. Ordered a cow in December, still nothing. Paid thousands and no response at all! Do not do business here.

Prior to making out reservation, I called Dave (the owner), left a voice mail and he called me…read moreright back! He was so polite, answered all my questions and I could tell the way he was talking about his horses, he REALLY loved his horses, and wasn't doing the tours for profit! We bought out tour tickets directly from his site! I would recommend doing that so it gives HIM/his stable/ HIS horses all the money and Groupon not taking any portion! We did the 10am tour that lasted a little over 2 hours. Upon arriving Dave met us, told us we were just waiting for another couple to come (there was bad traffic) and then we would be on our way. Upon everyone arriving he asked every one how comfortable we were and what our level of riding was. Even though I have rode horses several times growing up, I still considered myself a beginner. He matched us up with our horse, allowed those who could hop right on to get on, but gave me a step to get on to get on to my horse (my horse was REALLY TALL)! Dave stayed back at the stable and let us go out on the trail with our guide (sorry forgot his name)....but he was EXCELLENT TOO!!!! We tried to stay in a single file line with the beginner horses in the front and middle and the novice riders in the rear to try and keep everyone on the trail...even though my horse and I were matched for me being a beginner, my horse just wanted to stay in the back, in the bushes and eat anything possible! PERFECT MATCH! We were out on the horses for about 45 mins and then we took a break. The guide lead us to where there were 2 picnic tables and brought us snacks and bottles of water! It was great to take a break and to get some great photos w/ our horses. I could go on and on about how great the guide was, the horses were and Dave, the owner! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT, and hope to go back soon! Thanks Dave!!! PS-My horses name was "One eye...." I forgot the rest...but he only had one eye! LOVED HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave really has no customer service., Hes an old school rancher that does things his way…read more Trails were sandy/dusty and narrow through bushes and trees at times. Picnic was a small bag of chips and a mini water.

There's so much to love Mataguay Scout Ranch! Back from a seven year hiatus and ready to give this…read morenew generation of scouts some lifelong memories! :) The kids enjoyed the week, got some merit badges, and some quality time together in the outdoors. The staff here are wonderful, and the kids had a great time - we'll certainly be back. :)

Do not choose this camp. I paid $590--nearly $100 every single day--just to be subjected to a week…read moreof starvation, safety hazards, incorrect instruction, and nonexistent adult supervision. If you are a troop leader or parent, read this before wasting your money. Do not choose this camp. Nauseating, Dreadful Drive In: The access road into camp is so aggressively winding, twisty, and poorly paved that it is a guaranteed recipe for severe motion sickness. We had multiple scouts actively vomiting and completely incapacitated by intense nausea before we could even unpack a single gear bag. It set a miserable tone for the entire trip. Underage Staff (Ages 12-17) & Zero Supervision: The camp is run by children with no visible adult leadership enforcing rules. The camp quickly degenerated into total chaos. For example, groups of 7+ rowdy scouts routinely crammed into single shower stalls to throw loud "shower parties," blasting music and causing a massive ruckus we could hear from our campsite. Three staff members stood right there, watched the entire thing, and did absolutely nothing to intervene or enforce quiet hours. A couple of individual staff were decent, but they couldn't fix a fundamentally broken camp. Incorrect Instruction & Failed Advancement: The quality of instruction was shockingly poor. Staff taught the Totin' Chip completely wrong, telling scouts to establish a "safety circle" for a pocketknife the exact same way you would for an axe or saw. Even worse was the "Pathfinders" first-year program. A scout worked diligently all week--even staying for a make-up lesson on the final day--and came back with less than 20% of their Second Class requirements signed off. Staff completely failed to teach the promised material. Incompetent Medics Mocking Scout Injuries: The medical staff showed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. When scouts went to the medic station with painful, deep wood splinters, the medics refused to treat them. Instead of helping, they mocked the kids and made highly inappropriate jokes about how they would have to "amputate their fingers." It is unacceptable for a medical team to treat youth injuries as a joke. Overgrown Facilities & Fiesta Island Hand-Me-Downs: The camp looks abandoned, with overgrown grass untouched since the 1990s. The property is trapped in the past, featuring neglected troop plaques from the 1970s-1990s. The council clearly isn't investing money here; most of their gear comes as hand-me-downs from Camp Fiesta Island, including their operational plans and even the dining hall utensils. The 0.3-Mile "Starvation Hike" & Toxic Yelling: Our campsite was at the bottom of a steep hill, forcing hungry, exhausted scouts to trek a grueling 0.3-mile uphill hike three times a day just to get to the dining hall. The reward was tiny, inadequate food portions that left growing teenagers starving. On top of that, the camp forces a culture where troops have to scream at the top of their lungs just to receive food. This was so excessive that the majority of our scouts completely lost their voices within the first two days. Infested Restrooms, Unchecked Wildlife & Sleepless Nights: The infrastructure is a blatant health hazard. Latrines were heavily infested with wasps and hornets nesting right inside the stalls, putting scouts at constant risk of being stung. Wildlife goes unmonitored; we found a garden snake hanging out inside the bike shack completely unchecked. To cap it off, campsites are jammed next to stagnant ponds where the frogs are so deafeningly loud all night that getting any sleep was impossible. The Bottom Line: Paying $590 should guarantee proper instruction, adequate food, and safety. Mataguay Scout Ranch feels like an expensive punishment. Save your troop the misery and do not choose this camp.

This is an old building with not a lot of customers so I feel like it is unreasonable to rail on the owners for not having good access for handicapped since it is an old elevated structure likely because it was built when the lake had a LOT more water (they have had to drastically lower the water level since then for flood danger) Yes it would suck if one were wheelchairbound but to be fair it is super easy to check out restraints ahead of time online before driving there....My guess IF the latest owner were forced to bring the building up to latest codes? It would just be financially impossible to justify expense that would never be recouped

They took care of the table/chair rentals, linens, lawn market lighting, draping, cocktail hour food, buffet, dessert and late night snacks for us. We had our tasting in January for our April wedding and we were really nervous since we already paid so much for the food before even trying it, so luckily it was delicious! The tastings are an additional $50 per person. For tray passed bites, we chose, chicken & waffles, watermelon skewers and mediterranean herb shrimp. Our guests asked if they were going to bring more out because it was all so good! For entrees, we chose the dry rubbed grilled tri tip with the carving station and the teriyaki salmon. We chose the churro station for dessert and that was a really big hit with our guests. For all of that, with staffing charges and taxes, it was $19k. More than we originally wanted to pay for our wedding catering, but it was worth it with how easy they made it for us. Thank you Annalisa for all of your help in making sure it was the perfect day for us!
