I wish I would have found this gem earlier!…read more Finding a summer camp can be tough, my little and I went through a bad experience, so of course we set out to find a new camp. Then came STAR. The best camp I have come across! More specifically, Mar Vista Super Star camp. My daughter comes home everyday full of stories and activities. I couldn't be happier with how the camp staff has treated her. She has nothing but good things to say, and my 8 year old can be one tough critic. STAR has something for everyone, so many activities, it isnt just fun, but also educational. STAR will be my go to summer camp every year! Thanks guys!

The director, Rachel, encouraged this to happen. She would purposely reword complaints she recieved from staff about other to be more negative, misquote the staff accused and pass it off as fact in order to get away with writing people up. It was a very strange power play and a severe lack of empathy. We were threatened with termination if we talked about other coworkers being fired (3-4 were fired in the 2.5 months I worked there) or if we voiced any issues about the boss. We would get in trouble if we talked to one child for too long, and were generally there only to supervise and not allowed to bond with the kids. A lot of the staff was wonderful, but a lot were very harsh to the kids and would get in their face to yell at them. One in particular expressed a desire to beat a child up. The director would similarly be unfairly harsh on the children, and would often roll her eyes when they would come up to speak to her. Considering the fact that this program is not free, I would HIGHLY encourage families to look for alternatives to look into other after school programs if they could!

The kids have days filled with creative and exciting activities without any screen time (I've seen other preschools and daycare's with TVs in the classroom:( ). They also do much more thoughtful activities than just coloring and painting which I experienced at previous schools. I'm very appreciative of the diversity in the school. I toured many different schools throughout my son's time in preschool and this has been one of the most diverse that I've seen. My son's teacher is Ms Ingrid and she is very kind and thoughtful. It's been really sweet watching my son learning and taking interest in Spanish even though we do not speak Spanish at home. Also the owner, Ms Brittie is very involved and very quick to respond to parents. Overall, I feel that there is a lot of thought and intentionality put into the way that the school was designed and runs. research based and geared towards celebrating each child's individuality while still helping them develop, socially and academically. :)

The teachers and staff are warm, genuine, and kind, and they take great care of the kids. My son runs in each morning and barely looks back at me to say bye. I don't need to worry about him all day because I know he's in a safe and loving environment. They speak Spanish the majority of the time, so it's been fun to listen to him start saying a few words in Spanish here and there.

We had our 6-year old's birthday party here (we also had his 5th birthday party here last year)…read more Everything went great! The kids loved it. In terms of ease of having a birthday party, this is the place to do it. You can drop off your stuff and decorations in advance and they'll set it up for you right before the party. They take care of everything during the party (entertaining the kids, feeding them whatever food you brought, etc...). But, most importantly, they are really good are leading the kids in all sorts of different fun activities. We had Cassandra, Audrey, and Justin and everybody was great!

From the first day I went there, we were warmly welcomed into the space by Coaches Ben-Oní, Selah, and Audrey. In the last month, I have seen my son's confidence grow in his gross motor skills. I really liked the minimalist design of the space. There are no screens, and lots of encouragement to use the imagination, which is a major plus to me! I also really liked how they had structured and unstructured times in the class. All of the coaches encourage and respect children's boundaries. They taught me to not hurry my son, and that is something I am really grateful I learned from them. Two challenges with Wild Child are around parking and timing of classes. Though there is a lot on Watseka that does free 60 min parking, it can be difficult to time parking so that there is adequate time to get in and out of class with a toddler within the time frame. Secondly, many of the classes and Free Play for my son's age range were at times that conflicted with his schedule. For the price point, I would like more options that work for us. TLDR; I would recommend Wild Child and I hope Wild Child offers more morning class times.

The preschool director and the teachers are incredible, they love the kids so deeply and get to know all the families so well. The kids are challenged academically and it's been incredible to see how much our 4 year old has learned. They go on fun and exciting field trips, have access to extracurriculars and have a nice rotation of activities depending on the season (water play in summer, areal class in the fall etc). The hours are great for working parents and the kids are fed very healthy and interesting foods, helping to expand their palates. Each month they focus on a different global destination and they also learn about social issues in an age-appropriate way. I can't imagine a better preschool experience for our daughter and I'm so thankful for everything she has learned in such a short period of time!

A place that follows cutting edge research and embraces a joyful and loving atmosphere and works to free kids from the drudgery most schools unthinkingly and ill advisedly embrace. Argo Navis always has its heart in the right place and does what's best for kids----even when it hurts their bottom line. They are concerned with education not schooling. Wow! As an educator for over 30 years, I can't imagine a better school for my child; simply put: she is thriving there! The small class sizes and personalized teacher attention make the school unparalleled. They know her and work to help her find her passion. My kid has always loved making little newspapers. Guess what Argo did? They helped and supported her dream and published a school newspaper that she spearheaded---all in breath-taking speed, held up only by her. LOL. I have been involved with every type of school there is and believe me, something like this would never have happened in them or if it did, it would have taken so long and by the time the slow wheels of bureaucracy got it done, the passion and interest would have long dissipated. Argo's travel and real world experiences are the icing upon the cake. Scuba diving, babysitting class, sailing, aerial, hip hop dancing, World Peace camp. YOWZA! Every day, my child is happy and excited to get to school and I am thrilled to get here there. It is priceless. Yay Argo!
