They towed my car while I was out with driendsand damaged it with damages exceeding $1500 and admitted it was caused by a tow company (I've never had my car towed) and they deny it was them disgraceful. My car broke down less than 4 miles from the tow company ..I would've never been able to drive my car if it was damaged by someone else. Mechanics words. The owner has a mouth too, gets real loud when you accuse him or his drivers of anything. Illegally towed me from my place of work because I went to walk up the street to the convenience store before going inside the building. I was then charged over 250 dollars at 3 a.m ( Manchester City Ordinance 70.40 states that "Any company or person which tows a motor vehicle without the consent or authorization of the owner or operator of the motor vehicle shall not charge a towing fee in excess of $110 during regular business hours.  The fee for a tow conducted at a time other than regular business hours shall be $125." So to all of you that do not know, this is not only a towing business but is also a collision center. Please take it from me, if you are looking to get your vehicle finished in a timely manner, then think again. My Husband was told that his car would be finished in 3 months, he was so happy!! Well weeks turned into months, almost 12 to be precise. All he heard was excuse after excuse as to why car was not finished yet. I could see if it had been in a major collision, however that was not the case. Some bodywork, blocking and paint that is it. So here we are almost 12 MONTHS later, my Husband finally gets his car back and gets slammed with a huge bill. The guy claimed that it took 130 hours which was laughable. Car still had little dents and places where it was not even painted. Oh and an estimate, forget about it, he asked for one time after time. Needless to say, my Husband has his car back, depleted his savings on a lack luster job. We will NEVER tell anyone where he had it done, we don't want people to make the same mistake in bringing their car to this place. He claimed that a driver slammed on there brakes in front of him that then caused him to brake and it supposedly caused my car to move forward. The owner and the driver were liar's and sleazy. My car was not strapped down properly at all! I would never recommend to work with this company. They deserve to be shut down. They completely messed up my vehicle from doing a simple tow. If paying almost $100 a mile for a tow sounds good to you, then this is the outfit for you. I saw two signs for a restaurant called Firefly at the entry for a parking lot. When I began to enter another sign stated there was no fee if after 4:30PM, which it was. It was one large, unmarked parking lot unlike most parking lots that delineated between businesses. It looked like the lot was shared by all businesses. In retrospect I'd have to guess that this obfuscation is part of the business model of not only "Performance" Towing and Recovery LLC, but maybe at least one other enterprise that financially benefits from the towing of paying consumers that frequent the downtown Manchester businesses that are led to believe they are parking in the parking lot of the business they are visiting. Firefly was a disaster service-wise, but after a half hour I came out and my car was gone. After about five minutes I found a tiny message on a random sign for this parking lot with phone number to call if your car was towed. Before that I saw a message that it's a $70 charge if your car is booted. The name of the business was not on the sign with the phone number interestingly enough. I call the number and get some guy. He did not identify the business. When I asked here my car was he would only provide the address, not the name of the business. He said the price to get my car back was $165. He said someone would be there to release the car. Upon arrival a person took my license information and said that I owed him $165...cash. For anyone keeping score, signage of this parking lot seemed to be purposely vague, it took a while just to find the phone number of the outfit that tows cars from this lot and the outfit would not provide the name of their business. When I complained that nobody told me I had to pay cash this person insisted I was told, that the guy on the phone would have never neglected to tell me. Yeah, these guys are the king of communication. I also asked why my car was not simply booted rather than towed by someone that could have easily been hanging around one of the parks. downtown. The person that released the car refused to answer that question. This is a smash and grab enterprise. Not surprisingly they are not affiliated with reputable partners, such as AAA. Even they don't want to be affiliated with themselves, apparently, otherwise they'd have their name on the sign. Anyway, to the New Hampshire Legal Aid organization t's pretty easy to prove a 'bait and switch' scheme Apparently "Performance" Towing and Recovery is no stranger to NHLA. You can file a complaint, like I did, at their site or you can call 1.888.468.4454 and they will help you begin your complaint process. The good news is "Performance" is most likely not working alone, you might be able to drag down another outfit they are partnering with that preys on consumers with bait and switch frauds. read more

Five stars to Performance Towing and Chris the Driver and Mechanic!!! Chris absolutely helped me out the night of July 14 when my car unexpectedly broke down and I needed a tow! I was stuck 90 miles from home with my young daughter road side... Chris responded via call to AAA and assessed and got my car up and running with a few twists of a wrench along the batteries common cable. Stay Away! They cleared out a parking lot full of cars in Manchester by the Red Arrow. My daughter has a paid parking spot. Waking up in the morning for work and her car was gone. Her hang tag had dropped onto the center console and was clearly visible. The tow co said come on down and we will just give you the car back. Upon arrival they walked to the car with her and looked through the window. They both saw the parking tag. They then said," you still have to pay it isn't clearly visible". They know it is a paid lot, You would think they would take two seconds to shine a light in the window and give a look knowing the hang tags are an issue and they are at peoples HOMES! This is a smash and grab, money grabbing, Dishonest company. The same night they grabbed her boyfriends car which was not permitted to park overnight. We were not upset about that but when we went to get the car the whole front end was smashed! The owners response was " my trucks didn't do that, I would pay if they did" then proceeded to try and tell me how trucks work. I've owned and operated roll back trucks bigger then anything they operate. There was broken debris in the parking spot were the car was yanked and the spots are so tight you know they were pulling them around to pick them. If you ever have the unfortunate chance to see the facility you'll understand. What a $#%@hole. Building is disgusting, parking lot all torn up and cars everywhere in disarray. The poor neighbors. Called AAA and they called Performance towing to pick my Porsche 911 up at Manchester Airport to flatbed to our mechanic in Stoughton MA. Scott and his helper showed up in a spotless truck, both wearing clean uniforms. He was very very careful loading our car, and tied it down with special care so as not to mess up the rims. The company I work for gives us parking permits to hang from our review mirror, so we don't have to pay for parking everyday in Manchester. Unfortunately, these hanging permits are very flimsy. I've managed to keep my permit on without incident for over a year. However, yesterday the permit decided to fly off without my notice and laid face down in my floorboard. Because my tag wasn't visible in the window, my car was towed. $150 fee to get my car back from Performance Towing. Now, I gave them a 5-star review because I know of other towing companies that would have charged double that. Also, when I got there, the gentleman helping me (I don't remember his name) was very kind, sympathetic, and understanding to my plight. He processed the paperwork very quickly, led me out to my car and even made sure I could get out of the fence safely, before sending me off. There were no dents, dings, or scratches anywhere on my car and they are open 24/7 so I didn't have to worry about my vehicle being unattended. He even offered ideas on how to more securely attach the parking tag so it wouldn't fall off again. He made an awful experience, a little less awful and I genuinely appreciated his kindness. H. I ran up to my apartment to get the cash and when I came down to give it to them they speed off very quickly laughing . Wish I could give no stars, this is the towing company my apartment building uses when they need to get cars off their lot for snow clean up. well even if they don't tow you away they will still charge you $125, even if they JUST put the car on the truck. they are supposed to ring the buzzer before they tow you!!!! This company is unorganized and unprofessional. Here is what I dealt with: - I was told help would arrive within 45 minutes and I had to wait 90 minutes. No one called to update me on their status or whereabouts. - I called for service and was ensured that the price would be $165 despite it being outside of office hours. When the representative arrived he wouldn't accept anything other than cash, which was not relayed over the phone. I went to an ATM to get the required amount and returned. - I handed the fee to the representative and he informed me that he didn't have the correct paperwork and wouldn't release my vehicle unless I paid an extra $30 (which I didn't have because I had only pulled out the $160 and scrounged for the $5 in ones and change). - I called the original person that I spoke to and he said that I wouldn't be able to get my car unless I paid the additional money and it would cost more if I had to come back during office hours due to storage fees. Can I give 0 stars? They towed my car from a completely empty lot with over 60 spots and only 2 small signs saying permit parking... have to walk whole lot to see them. I'm from MA but my very sick daughter is here quarantined at her dads while we await Corona results. I came up day before results due and they towed my car. I called spoke to MGR Rick explaining lack of signage and also I'm out of work with no unemployment for almost 2 months due to shutdown with corona asking for discount or some help, to that he said nope and here's what I can do for you charge full tow price plus extra each day I don't come get it! I figure who towed it and within 45 minutes I was charged $165 dollars!!! $120 for towing and extra to open their gate, r u kidding me!!! If I could give this company less than 1 star I would. My mother was parked at my apartment for less than 2 hours, and the tow truck showed up. I met the man at the car and he refused to let me move the car unless I gave him $125-cash only because he was already connected to her car. He told me their entire business is run cash only. When I mentioned to him that a man came out a week ago and was yelling at the same tow company and his car was taken off the truck with no fee the driver said he was a manager and that never happened. He proceeded to give me the middle finger. I offered to put the car in neutral to remove it from its spot, he said no and dragged the car from the spot with the tires locked. Once he partially connected the car he drove around the corner of our complex so that he could finish connecting the car without us seeing him. As a "manager" I would think your customer services skills would be a little better. I understand my mom was parked in the wrong area, but there is no need to be that rude.
