BEWARE!!!! This place is a joke, granted its a low cost, I got the info from a flyer, it looked pretty decent until we where there, I guess its true you get what you pay for, however, since this is suppose to be all about the kids and a family event, the 2 I dealt with have no passion or care for what they are instructing. One is ruder then the other and the other is just a Punk! they slam doors if you are trying to take a peak or hear your child playing. which made me suspicious. I wanted to leave a review earlier, but wasn't sure if this was the same place, ( the other review are different people I believe) the phone number matches but looks like they left the Santa Ana location and moved to Tustin location (3002 Dow ave,), it looks like a make shift business and looks like its only a temp place so don't invest your money quite yet. One of the directors emphasizes they are a Non-Profit Organization like its an excuse on why the place is so shabby and worst of all being in the high 80 degree weather, they choose not to use the air conditioning which to me is very dangerous when they are teaching children in very very small rooms, especially when the kids are doing the self defense class. its like they don't have enough instructors and they have the same people teaching different classes. They start at 9 am so by the time the nooners and later classes show up they are soooooooo rude and snappy. I don't know the names of the guys but they are little napoleon attitude dudes with self pitty issues. If I was head director (maybe the guy is) I would get rid of those two because business will fail or if it is he is the main guy.... my advice, quit your weekend job! When you call you cant get a live person, there is no business number or address listed. Get your money back if you can, there are so many other music/performing arts places out there in OC. Red flag for me is when someone emphasizes in the wrong way about being non-profit in a poor excuse manner on why the business isn't up to par is BS, especially when I know that non-profits pay there admin. well...look at girl scouts for example. MY OPINION : re cap: RUDE, NON PASSIONATE, CHIP ON SHOULDERS, INCONSISTANT, UNPROFESSIONAL, MAKE SHIFT SHABBY, CHOOSES TO NOT COOL PLACE, Side bar, I have seen a women walking around, maybe she is the owner or director of the place, I personally haven't dealt with her, but I heard other parents had an issue and said she was also rude. I know that parents want the best for their kids and its hard to pull them out of a class in the middle but ask your child if they like it and then make the decision, you want them to have a good experience, but don't want them to be forced at a place they don't really like. I intended to write this review a while ago when I was staying in Orange County, but I guess that I forgot. In short, whether you have kid needing a creative spark or a full-fledge prodigy and you are on tight budget, bring the kid to PAGOC for dance and/or music lessons. I brought my nephew here a few times to give my sister a break during my last O.C. visit, and I was amazed by how he responded to drum instructor Melissa West's instructions and gentle encouragement. My nephew has ADHD and has difficulty maintaining focus, but Melissa had him well in hand. From what my sister tells me, my nephew has improved so much on drums and at school that his grades in all subjects have improved dramatically since he began taking lessons with Melissa. He now gets his assignments done ON TIME without her prompting and nagging. She's even considering letting him start a band with his friends because he's managing his time so well that she no longer worries so much his academics. It's a WIN-WIN-WIN for everyone. read more

My daughter has taken drum lessons for 5 years at the Performing Arts Guild. The instructors are incredibly dedicated and she has really blossomed as a drummer. They have worked with her from 1st grade to 5th and continued to make it interesting and challenging for her. She was also able to participate in their Rock School program the past two years. This gave her the opportunity to learn to play with other musicians and to perform on stage. She also interacted with several staff members and had a positive experience with each of them. They put in tremendous effort to make this an amazing experience for their students. Even with all they have to offer, I found their prices very competitive. I feel lucky to have a student at the Performing Arts Guild of Orange County. read more

While visiting some friends in Orange County, I noticed this music & arts school near the place we were staying. It looked like it catered mainly to children as students, but I decided to find out if the instructors also taught adults. THEY DO! I had brought along my guitar on our trip with the idea of playing it again, and PAGOC seemed like a sign to do it. So, I took some guitar lessons with Steven, who I believe is the founder or one of the founders of PAGOC. Although Steven is a virtuoso, he is really sweet and patient with out-of-practice, wannabe guitarists like me. He never scolded me for making mistakes; he just encouraged me to try again. Whenever I visit Orange County again, I definitely will bring my guitar and take lessons with Steven. read more

For some reason, Yelp filtered my earlier review. So, I must reiterate that PAGOC is a wonderful setting to learn or improve as a musician and/or dancer. I do not live in Orange County, but when I visited several months ago I was able to take guitar lessons at the school with Steve, even though the school caters mainly to children, particularly special needs kids. For my part, I probably needed some SPECIAL ATTENTION because I had not practiced guitar for about 9 months. Steven was particularly patient with my sloppy chops and he gently but clearly explained my mistakes and how to correct them. I should mention that the lessons are very inexpensive and the setting of the school itself is very pleasant and conducive to learning and practicing. read more

I feel so lucky to have stumbled across the Performing Arts Guild in my search for music lessons. As an adult student, I was incredibly impressed by the quality of instruction, the dedicated staff and the creative opportunities for learning and fun (such as the Rock School Program). Not only was I taught music theory and how to play music by patient and caring teachers, I was also given the chance to work with other students, be part of a student rock band, and perform on-stage! The musical skills I gained, the amazing friends I made, and the wonderful times I had at this school will always remain fondly in my memories. If I hadn't moved out of state I would most definitely still be a loyal student! read more

WOW! I thought that I already reviewed PAGOC. So, this one is LONG overdue. PAGOC offers music and dance lessons mainly to children. However, because I still am a kid at heart, I go here for drum lessons every week with Melissa, who is a phenomenal drummer herself and quite an inspiration to me. I love the fact that PAGOC not only is reasonably priced but that it also houses some wonderful teachers who exude so much love for the arts and for teaching. As a non-profit organization, PAGOC also donates to a lot of different charities that focus on children. I feel good about spending some money here because I know that some of it will be recycled in to projects that benefit kids. YAY! read more

I keep forgetting to review this great music & dance school. So, here's it is. While visiting my sister a few months ago, I took her daughter to drum lessons with Melissa several times here. I was amazed by how much my niece's personality changed from scatter-brained to intensely focused, confident young lady after just a few lessons. My sister tells me that her daughter's grades in all subjects at school improved since Melissa began teaching her how to play the drums. My niece also seems calmer and less argumentative. If you have a child - particularly one with learning disabilities or anger issues - interested in music or dance, take her or him here. read more

I had thought that I reviewed PAGOC a few months ago while I still lived in Orange County. So, this review is long overdue. When we lived locally, I brought my daughter here twice a week for drum lessons with Melissa West, who is a phenomenal teacher. My little girl was so happy for every lesson, which Melissa made both challenging and fun. So, my kid never got bored. Since we moved to Sao Paolo, I have yet to find a drum teacher nearly as good as Melissa fro my daughter. If you live in Orange County and your child is interested in music or dance lessons, PAGOC is a great, inexpensive school to help your kid's creative expression flourish. read more

My daughter has been taking lessons for two years and we love it. The lessons are affordable and her instructor, Thu is fabulous!! She is patient, kind and engaging for my little one. Her energy and attitude really help my daughter stay focused and actually enjoy playing piano. She's really learned a lot and still wants to go every week. All the parents I've talked to seem really happy with the classes and services. Only downside is its really hard to reach anyone by phone or email and there is no rescheduling, but I'm hoping with the new website and location this will improve. read more

I take my nephew to PAGOC once a week for piano lessons with Tu, and he LOVES it! He really has improved over the past year, and Tu is really a sweet, encouraging girl who inspires him to keep practicing. Before my nephew started piano lessons, he was really undisciplined and incredibly self-centered. After a few months with Tu, his character completely changed. He now is more self-confident but considerate of others, too. I highly recommend PAGOC not only for a child's musical training, but also for his or her character development and maturity. read more

During a recent visit to family and friends in Southern California over the holidays, I took my son back to PAGOC for some drum lessons with Melissa West, who remembered us from when we used to live in Orange County and kindly squeezed my son in to her busy schedule. Great music school, with great teachers. Learn Piano, Drums, Guitar, Voice, Violin and more and for much less $ than most other schools. They have a great School of Rock Program, and bands perform at The House of Blues in Anaheim. The teachers are passionate, professional, and understand their students needs. My boys have been taking Drum and Piano lessons here for about 3 years now, and they sound great! I take guitar lessons and am having a blast! read more

Steve (owner) is a great with the kids, super knowledgeable (guitar skills are incredible), very patient, and an all-around good guy. Tara is our fantastic voice teacher and has given our kids (boy and girl) professional singing skills. Melissa is our girl's drum instructor and can my girl rock! It's all due to Melissa's skill and abilities as a teacher. We've worked with other instructors at PAGOC and they are all fabulous. read more

This place is a wonderful learning environment for learning music! My child has been taking piano lessons here for the last year. Her instructor Miss Tu is so patient and nurturing and has my daughter looking forward to her lessons every week. The other instructors in the facility seem to be very friendly as well. The only thing I wish they had was an office person. Other then that, this place is great. read more

Both Steven Strombeck, PAGOC's director, and his son are wonderful guitar teachers who have helped my little cousin so much as she has learned her chords and even some budding composition writing over the past three years.
