I had been coming to this nail salon for over 13 years and always appreciated the personal service from Cathy, the owner. She was always kind, welcoming, and attentive whenever I called or came in. Lynn did my nails beautifully every time, she was consistent, detail-oriented, and one of the main reasons I stayed loyal to this salon for so many years. Unfortunately, things started to go downhill once Cathy brought on a "partner" to help manage the business in 2025z My experiences after that became increasingly frustrating. The first issue happened when I called to make an appointment and the "partner" scheduled me incorrectly, which resulted in me waiting about 45 minutes after arriving. I brushed it off at the time, assuming it was just a mistake. The second time, the "partner" took down my name incorrectly and again scheduled me for the wrong time, creating another unnecessary inconvenience. The third and final experience was the one that made me decide not to return. I was charged $50 for a pedicure unexpectedly. I called Cathy afterward to explain the situation, and while she did offer to credit me $20 toward a future visit, I let her know I would rather look for a different establishment moving forward. It's disappointing because I truly valued the service I received for many years, especially from Cathy and Lynn. I was introduced to this cute salon in Monrovia by my mom over a year ago but started coming here regularly just recently now that we've relocated to the area, and I'm so happy! Peridot always had the best customer service, and they are gentle with your nails. Today, I got a gel manicure and pedicure with sea salt scrub and spa add ons. It was relaxing, and the ladies were so nice and helpful with choosing my colors. The salon is clean, and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. They are closed Sunday and Monday, and you have to call to book appointments, but sometimes they do take walk ins right away if it's slow. Overall, it's a great salon. My regular gel manicure is about $45, and the regular pedicure is $35, so I usually add on spa or scrubs. read more

This was my first time coming here, I'm sorry but it was not the best experience for me. I called in and got a regular natural nail gel mani pedi for $98. As they started my manicure she said it'll be a min for my feet because they take longer 1/2 into my mani someone came to go my pedicure and there was only 1 person there getting their nails done and 3 other workers just sitting down. In the middle of my service the man who works there decided to come and was sitting too close for comfort. While sitting in assuming the lady doing my toes told him his Jean zipper was down he then proceeded to zip up his pants right in front of me and then sat back down. I was already feeling off about this experience, and he's sitting there I'm trying to mind my own business and he says he's there to talk to me then leans on the arm rest extremely close to me,then they asked if it was my first time there and where do I usually go and how come I didn't go there but .. excuse me if I am here getting business at this nail salon I don't think I should be getting told why I'm there paying for a service. I'm sorry but when I go get my nails done it's to unwind and have that alone time. I stumbled into peridot one day because I had gone that weekend to this other shop near my house who did the worst full set ever! I walked in asked for an acrylic removal and was pressed for time because I was on my lunch. I can't remember which of the lovely ladies did it in 40 minutes. Mind you it was a new set and since I didn't have time to soak they did what they could. That was 3 years ago and since I've never gone to any other shop. Jenny is my girl! She is always always super accommodating and goes above and beyond to getting you the color/design/shape you request. She has kept the health of my nails a top priority even when we do an acrylic set. My nails are never brittle after taking acrylic off. Tammy is amazing with pedicures. Henry is also awesome, when Jenny was out and I need my manicure he did it and found me the perfect shade of red(for me). I've been a long time customer here, around 7 years, and I would no longer recommend this place. If you must go, ask for Kim! She's the best. She's so sweet and gentle, however she only works with regular and gel nail polish. She does not do acrylics or gelx, which is what I wanted to switch over a few years ago. I always went to Kelly for acrylics but after a couple years of never leaving happy with my nails for various reasons, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Kelly, in short, is impatient, lazy, sometimes rude, and gaslights you. Anytime I pointed out a flaw, she'd say I'm too picky. Everytime she removed my acrylics, it'd hurt me and when I asked her to soak off, she'd say that takes too long. So, your time is more important than whether or not your customer is in pain? I've tried other different nails techs here over the years, and they weren't any better than Kelly (less skilled in application or design). All the techs here are very traditional and aren't very good at designs beyond anything basic. If you're looking for Instagram or Japanese/Korean-style nails, go elsewhere. It's been 6 months since I switched nail salons and I'm much happier. I came back twice to get my gelx removed. The first time went fine. The second time was today with Kelly and my nails are completely damaged. Gelx is supposed to be soaked off and cause minimal damage to your nails. It takes time but after 15 minutes, the gel should come off easily (like gel nail polish). She FILED them off instead and now my nails are super thin, like paper. She had the audacity to say that this is why acrylics are better because they cause less damage. Excuse me, what??? A quick Google search will tell you that acrylics are much more damaging to your nails when removing and gelx is only damaging if removed improperly (which is what she did). She said, "Yeah, so much damage cos too much glue!". I question if she even knows how gelx works. I made an appointment for a dip manicure. When I arrived I got surprised they kept trying to get me to change my service, nail color or add pedicure. I kept stating i wanted a DIP MANICURE. It felt like my service I booked for which they agreed to was an inconvenience. The lady had proceeded to remove my dip manicure from previous and stops midway to say she has another appointment and someone else was going to continue. I looked confused as if I had also booked my appointment!! The next lady was SLOW! I told her over and over my nails weren't acrylic. I have natural nails with dip powder . She breaks my nail and I just tell her to stop the service and just to remove the dip off my nail. I'll be honest, I've slowed down my need for getting my nails done, especially since we've been cooped up indoors for the most of 2020. It's been good for my bank account, but not so good for my me time. I decided to treat myself and get my nails done. I saw the reviews to this location and thought I'd give it a try. I was impressed simply by how clean this place was upon walking in. It was also really spacious, making it no problem to be more than 6' from other guests. The business provided plexiglass barriers to protect us from them and vice-versa. Everything also felt so clean. Aside from all the COVID precautions they are taking, they've got TONS of options for gel! I loved it! I could've gotten lost for hours picking my color if I really wanted to, but I had to get serious since I was on a time crunch. I was just there today and I had a horrible experience! I've been coming here for 5 years and I always get Tammy. Tammy is so sweet .. idk if that's a new manager in the front but she's so rude. I wanted to get dip manicure and gel pedicure and she was raising her voice and yelling when I told her what color I wanted and I guess the color I wanted was not gel. She raised her voice at Tammy and was speaking her language but i know it was scolding Tammy because Tammy was just quiet and seem a bit nervous. I myself felt awkward to be in the middle. I left and this is the last time I will be back. The manger in the front needs to fix her attitude and not raise her voice in front of customers. This was my first and LAST experience. I had an appointment at 1:30pm and wasn't seen until 2:10pm. There is only one acrylic person a day and the person she was working on before me cut 40 minutes into my time, not the customers fault of course. When I was finally being worked on I told her I wanted the gel x in short coffin shape and I showed her I wanted the cat eye (that they have displayed), the tech looked confused, especially when I showed her the simple Starburst design and gem in the middle. She couldn't find a circular "diamond" gem, i pointed out one i thought would work. I also think my nails may have been filed down too much because putting on the nails BURNED and I've never had that before. I ended up leaving with nothing I wanted because of how long it took (I was there from 1:30pm- 4:45pm). The nails do not look coffin shaped, i had a random sparkle red color put on and in the light I can see how uneven the polish was applied. There are weird streaks from the top clear layer. Ive heard good things about their mani and pedi work but I don't recommend acrylics/gel x. read more

Henry did my nails Acrylic full set French tip with design $70 Loved that he put sunscreen on my hand before using the UV light, helped me find the perfect shade of lavender when I was hesitant with the first two options, cleaned up the French tips when I pointed it out, didn't rush or get upset when he had to fix things, filed under my nails to clear off any excess. Also loved that he filed away at the acrylic to thin it out so that I wasn't left with super chunky nails! I spoke to the owner yesterday who tried to tell me it was my fault my nails came out the way did because I had builder gel on my nails. She told me the way they remove the builder gel is the correct way and every other place is doing it wrong. If you go into the websites of different builder gel brands, none of them instruct to remove the builder gel the way they did at Peridot. Further more, you're supposed to use the brown, sand file tip on the e-file and the tech used a white one on me. She didn't use the brown one until the very end after my nail beds were already filed down to nothing. None of the websites suggest acetone. They recommend leaving a thin a lay of the builder gel on to keep the natural nail strong and healthy. So the salon has employees who don't know how to properly use the equipment they work with and they just do whatever they want instead of what is best, safest and healthiest for the client. The owner told me her employees "tried their best" on me to which I replied, if this is your best no one at your shop should be allowed to practice doing nails. Having a license to practice anything is a privilege and requires continued education and knowledge to practice with the safest up up-to-date standards. And when one decides to take that privilege into their own hands and not practice using the best standard of practice, this is what happens- you harm your clients. There's no excuse for what happened. The owner can make excuses for her staff all she wants. There's no excuse for bad practices. The owner offered to "redo" my nails or pay for a doctor's bill or give me nail strengthening serum, but honestly it's all just too late for that. And really, I don't trust them anymore. I just want them to do better for the next customers that walk through their doors and actually do what their website mission states. No one's nails should be in worse condition after leaving no matter what is on them. It's been 2 days and my nails and finger tips are still throbbing. They are super sensitive to heat and cold. They say beauty is pain .... that is exactly what happened here. $55 of pain and raw skin and blood. I wanted almond shaped powder dipped gel. Henry filed my nails down to my skin. When I told him he was filing too close and to stop, he said that this shape is too difficult. That would have been great to know, I would have gone with a different shape. He kept filing until I bled. In addition, the shape is uneven. As you can see in my picture he filed a chunk of my nail off. You can see the missing part of my nail. Maybe it's just the vibe here, but it's not great. She injured my cuticles with some over aggressive use of an Emory board, and after all that the polish chipped and cracked after a couple of days.
