After stellar service from John last year, we're currently being treated like CHOPPED LIVER by Jason, who openly attests that "I dont receive or ever listen to my voicemails" as my 86 yr old mother is totally immobile & awaiting a long overdue motorized wheelchair. Jason's passive aggressive comments (I "don't work backwards") when I expressed hurt & disappointment that he has basically ignored my mothers file (didn't hear back from Dr in over a week & never bothered to follow up, update me or verify that the fax/phone was correct in the busy Dr's office). To have been leaving him detailed voicemails since the holidays, then learning that NONE of my messages were played, much less actioned, is HIGHLY unacceptable and the epitome of disrespectful to an elderly patient who is waiting daily for some semblance of relief in their poor quality of life already. I'm utterly shocked that Perkins quality control & accountability system stoops this low. CUSTOMER BEWARE. Jason would rather give a passive aggressive response to your frustration than provide help, and he seems to be the sole staff in charge of medical equipment Rx's at the SR 60 location. My mother's days are numbered already, and unfortunately if it were up to this guy, she'd pass away, in severe pain & zero mobility, without an iota of care from Perkins Medical Equipment SR 60. Also forgot to mention that some of the employees would deliver items to your hospice loved one and then the next day we get a work order to have it picked up because your loved one passed away and some of these employees would laugh about it while I would get all emotional, "it's part of the job" you'll be ok I'm told and they laugh at me cause I care. Do not do business at this medical supply they charge your insurance an arm and leg and don't even care for your loved one. I've been in a wheelchair as a double AKA amputee for 30 years and dealing with Perkins for over 20+ years with no problems until I started to deal with Rebbeca last year. All my wheelchair expenses are 100% covered under my workers comp insurance with no questions, most of the time, I don't even need a prescription. I have a custom wheelchair and a backup wheelchair for when one of my chairs need repair. At the beginning of 2024, I sent one of my chairs in for normal repairs, (new tires, armrests and a new seat cushion) which I have always done for the last 30 years. About a month goes by, and I called Perkins to see the status of my wheelchair repairs when I was put in contact with Rebbeca, who then proceeds to tell me that she was not going to approve my request. Well, I've never delt with Rebecca before and Rebecca is not my insurance rep and it's not her job to approve or deny my requests, my workers comp insurance has people for that. Well that finally got straightened out and all was good. Then in the summer, my wheelchair cross brace snapped and needed to be replaced which put me in my backup wheelchair. I called Perkins, who came out and picked up my chair. A month or so goes by and having not heard anything, I gave Perkins a call once again to see the status of my chair. I was told that they discontinued my wheelchair model and they could no longer get parts. It would have been nice if Perkins would have told me in the first week or two instead of me having to call a month later. So, I came up with the great idea of "Hey, why don't we order a new updated wheelchair?" it's been over 9 years since I've had a new chair anyway and I'm allowed a new one every 5 years. Sounds great. Being my wheelchairs are custom built, it takes a while for them to come in and I understand that. Well, another couple months go by and once again I hear nothing. I call again and talked to Rebecca who says I need a prescription from my doctor. Sure, no problem, Perkins had a prescription from my doctor that same afternoon. But once again, that would have been useful information way earlier. Now we are into December. This has been ongoing since summer. The middle of January, I called Perkins to check the status of my chair. Come to find out that Rebbeca once again did not approve my chair saying that I have met my expense limit from my insurance for the year and that she was waiting till the first of the year to put my order in. WTF?! That has never happened. I called my comp insurance, and they had no idea what she was talking about and there is no limit. Ok, we're in January now so my new chair has to be ordered. The 1st week of February and my backup chair broke. Now I'm crawling around on my floor because i have no wheelchair. I call Perkins to get a rental chair and to find out the status of my ordered chair only to be told it has not been ordered yet. They gave me no real reason why it wasn't ordered. Now I'm pissed off. I have given them plenty of time and been EXTEMELY patient with them. I figured now that I'm in a rental that they would get on the ball and get stuff done. WRONG! Another week goes by and I called again only to find out the wheelchair still has not been ordered. Enough is enough. I went to another medical company on February 17th, gave them my insurance info and they ordered me a new custom wheelchair that day. It took 45 minutes for the other company to get approval from my insurance and order my wheelchair what Perkins still hasn't done. Don't waste your time with Perkins. Perkins medical supplies charges outrageous prices and they hold on to every dollar whether earned or not. I brought in a prescription for a medical brace because I had injured my knee. I was already to check out and Jason put his 2 cents in and chimed the brace might not be covered by Medicare and he wanted me to pay for the brace. It was covered for Medicare and they paid Perkins $72 in January and my supplemental insurance paid $18 on February 15 and Perkins is clinging to my $90 and giving me every excuse with the last one being it has not been finished posting February. Do not patronize perkins medical as in spite of being a local business they do not know how to treat customers. You can find everything you need on Amazon for 60 percent less. I stopped ordering my cpap supplies from them as most of their employees suffer from brain freeze. read more

12/6/22: I am an 85 year old man who is retired & handicapped with several comorbities and very restricted mobility who sleeps and sits in a $3000 lift chair with 5 motors to adjust the position for my comfort which was bought from Perkins. Chair had the same problem 3 times . A frayed electrical cable. While persons who called technicians were very polite they were not technically knowledgeable to fix the problem that has existed since 11/20/2022 and is still a problem waiting to be corrected. Management , technical support and customer support as well as communications are a major problem . I have contacted the manufacturer in an attempt to secure another Company to repair my chair but am contractually handcuffed to Perkins and wound have out of pocket costs which I can't afford. The chair broke down at 2:30 am and remains in an extended sleeping position which has rendered the chair useable. Attempts to put the chair in a sitting position so I can sit or try to sleep in it have not been successful. My life and my pain level has and is horrible and has put a load on my wife that could have been avoided. The products they sell are professional but if a technical problem occurs you'll probably be in the same position as I am unless the management and technical/ customer support problems have been resolved and corrected. read more

Have a prescription for a nebulizer & portable oxygen machine for my father who has lung issues, he has Chronic Bronchitis and just found out he may have lung cancer, waiting on results. Well with these prescription sent to Perkins (he & my mother have used them over 10 years) they will not fill these prescriptions, I've handed them orders right from Dr's, at first it was because it was from primary Dr, needed ok from pulmonologist. Got that. Now they need Dr's note to see how to bill these. My father ended up in hospital last night because Perkins cannot do the job, the Dr's ask of them. And STILL refuse to fill orders. It's all about billing. Yet here my father is sitting here can't breathe. I've informed the Dr's and Hospital staff and like me we are all dumbfounded. So if my father dies because Perkins refuses to fill a life treating prescription. I will sue them for wrongful death. read more

OK I have received the script from my primary care physician for a scooter because I have lower back pain play attic nerve pain and neuropathy in my left leg and and foot took the script to them they ran it through the insurance and said yes the insurance would cover the whole scooter anyway I eventually got the scooter and about two or three months afterwards I received this bill from them saying I will 119 dollars no I have both Medicare and Medicaid dual complete plan end when I went to purchase the scooter from them they told me that insurance company would cover the whole thing so that was good I wasn't expecting anything different except for when I got this bill in the mail saying I want really $19.00 now they're saying that they're Medicaid part of the insurance wouldn't cover it because I wasn't covered under Medicaid at the time I've had Medicaid for more than 20 years and when I spoke to someone at the Perkins medical they said that they looked into it and and Medicaid said that I wasn't covered at the time but that is not true and then they came back and said yes I was covered now they want me to pay it or to call the Medicaid and dispute it with them while they didn't pay it and I told them well you know since you all told me in the beginning that everything was covered under the insurance and if Medicaid is not paying you or whomever is not paying you then you need to call them and dispute it with them not me why am I going to go through all this trouble with all the pain and suffering of having to try to explain to Medicaid or some somebody else why why do you haven't paid this bill I don't understand it what I think happened is that they will bill you thinking that like most people a lot of people get a bill in the mail and they see it and they just pay it and they don't dispute it they don't look at it thoroughly they just write out the checks to get an envelope and send it in well I'm not that type of person I'm not going to do that I'm not paying this $119 because I was told by Perkins medical that everything was covered under the insurance no for whatever reason the the insurance didn't want to pay for part of it they need to dispute that with them and find out because in the beginning they said the insurance told them that everything was covered so they need to deal with it not me I think that it's all a scam that they're pulling cause I've read the reviews and the reviews are not good for Perkins medical a lot of people are unsatisfied with the way that they handle things and anyway I'm gonna leave it at that and just see what they're gonna do the woman said that she was gonna call Medicaid and Medicare and dispute it and see what they tell her so I said OK go right on ahead so that is where I'm at right now with Perkins medical read more

I wish I could give Perkins a Zero score. So disappointing. I purchased two ResMed AirSense machines from them, along with countless supplies. Kim later sold me a Resmed Mini for travel, over $1000. Long story short, she misrepresented the machine and to this day I'm unable to use it. I have tried everything. They refused to take the new machine back. In other words, you buy from there and you are stuck with a misrepresented product. I literally begged for someone with knowledge to help me because I so wanted to love the travel machine. I went twice to the office in Vero, after getting no help from the Stuart store. Neither store had a quiet room, so there was no way for the rep to appreciate the noise coming from the machine. I am still stuck with an expensive travel machine that I still want desperately to like. I would still appreciate some help, but I'm not holding my breath. Perkins is the worst place for medical supplies, all about the $$$$$. I went to Perkins in Sebastian to get fitted for crutches and a knee brace. Now if you ever hurt your knee or feel something snap...oh man ... you know the pain. Well they took my prescription card and realized it was not the best insurance. They proceeded to inform me that the insurance company would need to verify the coverage while I'm sitting here in pain. That it would take 1 to 5 days to verify. REALLY!!!! I mean come on man. The guy treated me like a low life and didn't have any use for me. I own my own business, so I asked how much a knee brace would cost. Didn't want to wait, because i need to get around. He said the one the Dr recommended is very expensive.... now I'm pissed...the crutches he said were about $40. Treating me all the while like he was wasting time telling me priced. Went here to get another size foot boot for foot fracture...ugh! But they've always bees SO nice & extremely helpful when trying to figure out what type of equipment I needed for fracture in foot! The Dr. said the scooter was the best idea for stability, got one, electric since will need it for quite a while, then got a fold up one for gettin' out of house for all those appointments! We were so lucky to find Perkins. I broke my fibula while on vacation and needed a wheelchair immediately, since I couldn't put any weight on my right leg at all. My husband and daughter went to Perkins and within a very short time they had rented a new, comfortable chair at a very reasonable price. After visiting the doctor, we went back to Perkins for more supplies and were impressed with how helpful the staff member was in ensuring that we had what we needed. She even readjusted the price on the chair so that we paid a much lower monthly fee rather than the daily fee we'd originally signed up for, now that we knew I was going to need the chair for a long period. Returning the chair at the end of our vacation also was fast and easy. When I got home and had to rent a wheelchair here, I realized how lucky we'd been in Vero Beach. I want to start this review by saying there is an employee of Perkins in the Sebastian store that goes over and above to assist his clients. His name is Jim. I've been dealing with him for a few years regarding my CPAP supplies and he make sure that my order is correct. If there is a delay or if something is not available he's on the phone to remedy the situation and he is probably one of the most knowledgeable people regarding cpaps. Now getting to the situation at hand.... in the latter part of 2018 the electric cart that I use was not holding the charge and I went to see Dave at Perkins who is the technician in charge of electric scooters. After checking the scooter he stated it appeared the batteries were functioning properly. The next day while using my cart it died after an hour and I took the battery case back to Perkins and after further checking Dave found the batteries to be defective. Dave advised me that the batteries were still under warranty and he got permission from the factory to install new batteries in the cart. In February of 2019 I went on vacation to Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas touring, my scooter died again. I had to be pushed back to my hotel which was a mile away by a stranger and then luckily I found two nice young gentleman who pushed me up a hill to my hotel. I called a local Scooter service repair company at which time they responded to the hotel with a loaner scooter and took mine to the repair shop. A while later I received a call from them telling me that the batteries were defective. I advised them I just had new batteries installed which they replied that the batteries installed we're not new and they were two different manufacturers. Photographs we're taken by the Las Vegas technicians which showed that the batteries had a 2017 manufactured date. These batteries are actually older then the batteries that were taken out of my scooter by Perkins. Since I need the scooter to get around I had to have the company in Las Vegas install new batteries at a cost of $350 which included the service call. Upon arrival back in Vero Beach I went to see a person named Jeremy the manager at the 20th Street location of Perkins and explain to him what happened. I asked if I was going to be reimbursed at least for my cost outlay. He told me no that he would not reimburse me. I asked him to call his technician in which he did and in speaking to Dave I asked him about the batteries he put in my cart. I advised them that they were stamped 2017 on the battery, however he placed tape over the manufactured stamp and wrote a 2018 date of the tape. He stated that was standard policy of Perkins to show when the batteries were installed in the cart. He further stated that if he looked at the batteries he put in my cart before he put them in my car he would have never installed them in my cart. However Jeremy was unimpressed and refused to reimburse me. I get other medical supplies from Perkins which I canceled and have another vendor however I'm still maintaining my relationship with Jim in Sebastian I'm continuing to get my CPAP supplies. I truly feel that we need some competition here in Vero Beach that can give better services for medical supplies. read more
