I am old enough to remember when Perkins was a good place to eat. Especially, breakfast. You had to wait to get in. No longer. Shame!

Someone needs to talk to the cooks there. I was there yesterday (march 9th, 2025) just after 2pm. My wife and I both ordered eggs Benedict, but I guess whoever was working didn't feel like, or know how to poach an egg. I wouldn't have cared if they were over easy, but they weren't. They were fried and crispy, and ruined the experience. East Penn diner makes a true eggs Benedict, and is closer to my house by far but my wife wanted make the drive to Perkins. I would've sent it back if it weren't for our servers excellent service. I really didn't want to trouble her. Please teach Johnny cut corners in the kitchen how yo poach an egg.​ read more

Never got seated. About 1/3 of the tables were empty at 6:00 and we sat in the lobby waiting. After about 5 minutes we asked about the wait time and were told it would be another 15 minutes. There were plenty of tables and why we could not be seated was not reasonable. We left . read more

I like the one on 191 much better. Who in the world heats up no sugar berry pie? That was just lousy. Place on 191 at least asks if you want something heated like a pie. The staff is always over-worked or understaffed - never sure which but it is slow going there. Good luck on drink refills. When I do stop it is because I was at mall. read more

Probably not too smart of us to get there at 12:30 pm for lunch in a heavily trafficked business district, but we did and we had to wait about 20 minutes. However, a meal at Perkins is well worth waiting for. If you have been to Perkins before you know that it borders on the similarity of a diner but also has its regular restaurant-specific items that everyone seems to enjoy. 20 minutes may seem like a long time, but for the tasty comfort food and engaging service, not so long. read more

Went here for Mother's Day and got the country sausage biscuit breakfast. Everything was cooked well besides the sausage biscuits. I enjoyed the eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes, but the gravy wasn't the greatest. It was a little too thick. It would've been a great meal if it was a little creamier. read more

Not the best of experiences for me - walked in on a Saturday around 11:15am. i check in like everyone else and watch as others get seated first. I wait two more times than walk up and say hi how long? Without even looking at her clipboard the woman says a few more minutes. I say hi a few people were seated that came in after me. She finally looks at the clipboard and noticed my name was scratched off. To be fair after they looked they apologized and sat me as quick as they can. I order the steak and peppers skillet. Medium. It came out well done. Also very salty. But for $12.99 I know what you're getting so it's fine. Mistakes happen but since I was one person I find it odd my name was scratched off. Reasonably priced, friendly and efficient table staff. Just don't understand why the host/manager makes people wait to be seated (10-20 min) when at least 5-8 tables are empty. 3-5 families with children waiting for what appears to be no real reason. I am baffled by this management style. I had to walk out the second time I visited and saw this unfolding. Saw others walking out in frustration. I recently moved to this area in December and I honestly don't know what people are talking about.. I find this Perkins to be one of the nicest friendliest Perkins. On Good Friday I called in for takeout food the manager forgot to give us 2 pieces of pie I called him and when We went back the manager was very apologetic and actually gave us a whole pie ..I think that's great customer service read more

This is my "too lazy to make real brunch reservations and/or don't want to spend more than $25 on brunch" place. What I like about this location is the service...we don't come here often, but we've always been lucky enough to have great servers. Was just there on Sunday and ordered the fried chicken biscuits platter...the server noticed that the line cook hadn't put much gravy on my biscuits and brought out a side of gravy with it, without me having said a word. My breakfast was great and huge - had the other half for lunch today and it was still delicious. This isn't a place to rave about (just another chain) but they are friendly and the food is decent, so I'll be back. Something has to balance out brunches at Bolete and Hamilton Kitchen :) read more

I'm not sure if this place has gotten worse or what, but my recent visits have been disappointments. I used to really enjoy the food here - obviously it's a chain restaurant, but the quality was decent for the price. However, the past two times I've come for breakfast I've been disappointed. My boyfriend ordered an omelet and it was clear it was sitting under a burner for a while before being brought out because of how the cheese has hardened. The sausage links we had were an uncomfortable color pink on the inside, and the toast wasn't buttered/we weren't given jelly with it. I'm starting to get petty - but I'm just annoyed with the quality of food that's been here lately. It's definitely more of a last resort now than it ever was before. read more

Sadly, I must share an unfavorable review. Visited there for lunch with my mother last weekend, as I had not been there for a long time, perhaps 10 years. I have lived in the area for over 20 years.. have patronized Perkins on Cedar Crest Blvd for breakfast -- always consistent. However, the Perkins on Lehigh Street was troubling. It took way too long for our order to be served.. at least 15 to 20 minutes, which is long. My mother was not happy with her burger, flavor was absent. I ordered just a combo chicken noodle soup and salad--the soup flavor was odd, tasted as though the base was made with chlorinated water. Very sad. My mother (who is 91) said "Well, the water is good." The waitress (who was very nice) reduced our bill by $3. A gesture perhaps directed by management, but, in this day of competitive market for restaurants, it was not an outstanding gesture. The bill was $20.. ugh! I think, sadly, a trip to a fast food restaurant or hoagie shop would have been better--but my mother wanted to rest at her age, after shopping. And the final disappointment was the condition of the ladies restroom--not good. Perhaps there needs to be a revisiting of management there.. oh well. Hopefully, this was just a "bad day", but I will never return. Better days ahead for Perkins. I'm sure there are stellar Perkins in the country, but this is not one of them. read more

You have to love a place that has two nights a week when kids 12 and under eat free. Especially when you have 4 kids like I do. The wait staff is pretty good and the dinner menu is better then expected for a breakfast oriented resturant. Perkins is a chain restaurant. Here in the Lehigh Valley, there are 2 near me. This review is about the one located on Lehigh Street. I find the service to be very good. The food is good too. Their menu has a variety from omelets to burgers to an old fashioned roast beef dinner. Their specialty is their baked goods, which you can come in just to buy a bag or box full to take home. My only complaint is that if you order a breakfast type meal (served all day) and it comes with toast, you will something more like really good limp bread than toast. Yes, they are speedy back in the kitchen, but they really need to take an extra minute to make it toast. During certain times of the week, they sometimes have characters walking around to meet your children. I have even seen a face painter and a balloon artist there a few times. Plus kids eat free on those 2 nights of the week. read more

Chicken pretty tasty. I love mushrooms and asparagus. This looked like mushrooms and asparagus but had absolutely positively no flavor. None. The manager came over to our table to ask if the waitress had taken our drink order. I said, "No, not yet" and he then asked me what I wanted to drink. I told him I would wait for the server to take my order since his shirt looked filthy dirty, was covered with stains and I didn't want him handling my drink. I heard him telling the waitress that I wanted to wait to give my drink order to her and then I heard her say, "UGH, I hate her! UGH" I didn't hear the manager say anything to her after this. The waitress then came to our table and I asked for a cup of hot tea and lemons. When she brought my tea to the table, she placed the cup in front of my mother instead of placing it in front of me, even though I gave her my order. I also heard this same waitress tell another employee in the kitchen area that a previous customer complained to her earlier about the place being dirty and she said, "I just came in at 10:57 am, so how dirty can the place be at that time!" After the food had been served, I saw the manager walking nearby and called to him. As I began to speak with him, the waitress came out to bring my side of butter and said, "What's wrong?" I didn't respond to her question and she walked away behind the wall directly behind our table to eavesdrop. I asked the manager if we could speak privately and we walked away from the table. The manager didn't deny or refute that the waitress made those unsavory remarks, apologized profusely and said that he agreed that her remarks were unprofessional and inappropriate. He didn't charge us for the meal and came by our table several times to inquire if everything was alright. The waitress never returned to our table nor did she apologize for her rude comments. It's no wonder the place was nearly empty with only 2 other tables being served. This type of behavior appears to be commonplace and deemed acceptable there, because I heard the General Manager exclaim "UGH!" after I walked by the front counter on my way to the bathroom during my previous visit to that restaurant. She was speaking with other waitresses, including the one that had served us that day, when she made that remark and probably didn't think I heard her. If you complain about the toast being burnt, being given an English muffin dripping with butter, way too much cheese in your omelet, having bacon put on your omelet when it's not supposed to include bacon, the staff mistreat you and behave rudely towards you! A customer has a right to complain when she is paying and the food is subpar! After these experiences, I don't intend to visit that Perkins restaurant ever again, even though it is the closest one to my house. I'd rather travel farther and go to another Perkins restaurant. The staff there are unprofessional, rude and obnoxious. They wouldn't have jobs were it not for the customers. read more

Food was what is to be expected at a Perkins. You might want to clean your own table, the busboy removes the dishes and just wipes the table with a rag. Does not spray the table or use a clean cloth, just a rag , who knows what it was used for before. read more
