They say most homeowners will eventually have to replace their roof at least one in their lifetime and it's often one the most costly expenditures you will have for your home. So, - when it was our turn, I took plenty of time to research everything I could find regarding new roofs, options, contractors, quotes, and references for our area. A house in Miami Beach Florida is subject to tropical storms, hurricanes and some very long hot days. Additionally, there are some stringent building codes and inspections required when replacing a roof in our area. I took the time to speak with quite a few roofing contractors prior to making the decision to go with Perkins Roofing Corporation. I am very happy we chose Perkins... Although their quote for replacing our entire tile and flat roof was not the lowest - it was nowhere near the highest. Overall, their price was in line with what appeared to be the average rate for the type of job required. Their references were good and after some thorough internet searching, I could find only positive comments about their services and company as a whole. Additionally, local building inspectors knew them as a reliable company. Our project manager, Marco Castillo provided our quote and was very professional during his initial visit and throughout the entire project. Since we were within a year from the last major hurricane in Florida, tile inventory (for most roofing contractors) was at a low. However, Marco, kept us informed at every stage of the project and properly projected (to the week), when our tile would be available and the project would be completed. Throughout the project, every day I returned from work, I was pleasantly surprised to see the area meticulously cleaned and our driveway clear. We never had any issues with the Miami Beach building inspections. I am extremely detailed oriented person and as the project ended, I pointed out a couple minor cleanup tasks (ie. paint touch-ups here and there, etc.) and they were on it. Perkins Roofing repaired a small leak in my roof, approximately 6 feet by 6 feet. They did a great job and I am very satisfied with their work. I highly recommend Perkins Roofing. Before I contracted the job with Perkins Roofing, I got another quote from a "reputable roofer". The "reputable roofer" came out to look at the small leak. They told me that the best thing was just to replace the entire roof since in addition to the small leak there were loose nails and missing shingles throughout the entire roof. I told them that at this time I was only interested in repairing the leak. They said that they would do whatever I wanted . The quote that I received from them via e-mail was to replace the entire roof. They never sent me a quote to only fix the leak. Yet, their website says that they repair leaks. Then I found Perkins Roofing. They have been in business for 40 years. Everyone at Perkins Roofing was a pleasure to work with. I was able to quickly obtain an estimate for a total roof replacement for my single family home. As I shopped other companies, it didn't take long to realize that the quote was really affordable. Once I signed on, the timeline was rapid: City permit applied for & issued (city permit process was longest bit), the roofing crew plus supplies arrived within a day-two after permit issued, and ultimately my 1100 sq ft "rolled roofing" roof was completed in 2-days including the wood decking replacement that my home needed due to damage. I have been a multiple property owner in the past, and have personal experience contracting for home repairs and improvements. I can honestly say that I have never seen a roofing crew work so diligently. I was truly impressed. Roof easily passed inspection as well. No call backs. Very happy with the appearance of the roof even though I wasn't initially thrilled about the local zoning ordinance that required my roof to be "rolled roofing." However, it looks GREAT! Excellent service and very honest. Had them check my roof as my handyman noticed leak on east side of roof before he was to paint my porch. Handyman spent almost an entire day "patching" roof and came back next day to say water is still pooling and he needed to get back into attic to see if his patch was working - he said he may need to reapply the seal. I told him no - I wanted professional roofers to look at it. I called Perkins Roofing and they got me a next day appointment. Rolando and Wilmer from Perkins Roofing came to my house and they went on my roof and into my attic and saw no evidence of leak - no wood in attic was wet despite the rain from the day before. Rolando noted the patch job on the roof was done with silicone that is used by plumbers (which should not be used on roof!). They did a complete evaluation and noted no leak and said my roof was in good shape. This company needs to be commended for their honesty and professionalism. I am so grateful to have found this roofing company. Professional, courteous, and extremely helpful from beginning of the project to the end. Rolando is very patient. I had to plan the roof job from afar. He always made himself available for calls and returned each email in a prompt and professional manner. Mind you that I had sent photos of the repair work and Rolando quickly returned my call to inform me that it was termite damage. Most of the termite damage was from years ago but there was one small colony of active termites found. I had a leak inside my house and called a number of roofing companies to come and take a look. I got a lot of different suggestions and cross-sells (e.g., replace roof, pressure wash). I had dealt with Rolando from Perkins a few years back when he saved me money by identifying a small crack on my roof. Called him again and he came and found and fixed the leak. They may not be the cheapest, but with the roof, you don't want to mess around trying to save a buck -- they did an excellent job, in a timely fashion and cleaned everything up.
